So the capture effect is a characteristic of FM receivers where the strongest of two signals on the same frequency dominates the receiver output. Unlike AM or single sideband where multiple signals may be heard simultaneously FM receivers tend to lock on to the stronger signal once it exceeds the weaker signal by a certain amount typically several deficit decibels. This is one reason FM communication often sounds cleaner and are less susceptible to weak interference from other modes. Simple terms two stations key up on the same FM frequency at the same time you'll usually hear the stronger one you might barely notice the weaker one. KJ5 MCV back to net control.
