Now, supercell tornadoes are pretty easy to understand. The concept of what a supercell tornado is is pretty easy. So that's the main grouping of tornadoes that produce the bulk of the damage. But then you have all these other forms of tornadoes fall into other categories. So we have water spouts, land spouts, and generic non-supercell tornadoes. And this is where things get a little gray. So in the case of a water spout, a water spout can actually be both supercellular and non-supercellular. Now you might say what? And the idea is that if you have a tornado over water or a vortex over water, and don't forget, all these things are basically the same. Whether it's a supercellular tornado or not, it's a spinning vortex. It's a spinning column of air. That forms a vortex. That's your tornado.
