They gave him a lifelong ski pass and he was up there one day, you know, later on and they talked to the owner or whatever and our caretaker. He said he had a lifelong ski thing, but it expired. He said, come up, you can ski anytime. You don't have to pay for it. So, yeah, there were a lot of government projects that went back in the late 30s and my dad also worked a lot of roads around Hood River. That's where he settled originally. Anyway, he only knew my mother one week and they got married. He supposedly picked carrots to get a marriage license.
