Then after the war, he moved down to Portland and worked for consolidated freeways for 30 years. He had a boss there pretty friendly with Jack Leonard and we used to go fishing over on the coast. I think it was called Fish Creek over towards East Side. My dad used to take me fishing. I went to Colby Lake which is probably 5 miles north of Seaside toward Astoria. Seems like we caught about 100 fish blue gills or something. Believe it or not, right there on Seaside, this is probably like 1949-50. You could get a motel for $3 and I think he's put that with his friend. So it was like a buck and a half a piece. Unbelievable.
