You pull the radio out the box, set it to the right channel, and you'll be able to talk on it right away as soon as it comes out of the box and you're off to the races. It's called Public Radio Service. And PRS, that'll be programmed in when you get the radio too. And you don't need to use your call sign on those channels. The only ones you need to use your call sign on are Hamlink channels. Hamlink and Public Radio Service, both of those will be programmed into your radio.
