When I built mine, having not even heard of them, I grew up in the end of the world. The first time I put the headphones on and heard the local AM station come through, I was tickled pink. And then at night it really opened my eyes to the ether. And I always thought, which I'm sure there's probably something version of this that's been done and probably undone over the years, but crystal radios are powerful enough to light some new age LEDs we got.
