I lived in North Carolina and I had built one of those foxhole radios. I thought it was appropriate at the time. I ended up taking the radio and hitting it with the blow torch, bluing it, and it turned blue. It sure did. But your idea there of a foxhole radio has been given me a idea for a Ham Radio Club presentation. We're always looking for presentations and I agree with you and the build it, make it have fun with it since. It would certainly be a cheap cost to the materials for.
