But if you maneuver the cassette lid on the tape deck in a certain way and just closed it around it, but not enough for the tape to get caught, then you can record that way because you've engaged the recording head. And the tabs on those tapes, all they do, is engage and push that recording head in or out. Out, if you don't want it to record in, if you want it to. That's why you need those tabs or you pull them out and you replace them with tissue and scotch tape. So she taught me that trick and I thought that was funny, that she of all people would know.
