So prior to 2019, liminality, this was basically an academic descriptor for the most part, right? It was used by anthropologists and architects. But what happened, courtesy of the pandemic, which enhanced it, what happened just prior, was that there was a bit of a watershed moment where this concept was globalized and it turned into a recognized horror, creepy past, the sub-genre through the anonymous image board 4chan. And just so you guys understand, the term creepy past, so what that means is it's defined as a short internet-borne horror story or urban legend that is shared widely across forms, blogs and social media. And the term itself is a mashup of creepy and copy pasta, which is actually older internet slang for texts that gets copied and pasted repeatedly. So they took a copy pasta and mash it up with creepy pasta. That's where you get creepy pasta.
