So in what was a bit of a perfect storm or perfect storm to come? On May 12, 2019, there was anonymous user on 4chan and on their paranormal focused board, they posted a thread asking users to post disquieting images that feel just off. And included in the original prompt was an uncredited mundane photograph of a crooked empty office space and the image that was posted was divided by its terrible, aggressive banality. It was basically this empty, mono-yellow wallpaper room where some of the wallpaper was appealing. It had these very harsh overhead fluorescent lights and a very heavily stained carpet. And everything in there was this mono-yellow shade. And because the image had no identifiable human subjects, no landmarks, no focal point, it was actually a perfect canvas for what would become future psychological.
