I'm going to see if I can convert that into a regulated DC power supply to provide about a thousand volts to that couple of milliamps. I think that one might actually work. First of all, I was able to power the thing up as it is and it ran without letting out any smoke. But the transformer looks like it's big enough to provide the couple of watts that I need.
