I configured Echo Link on an Android device. I was trying to see if it was working, so I guess it is. That's the good news. Nothing going on here. It's a nice morning. Not yet 80 degrees, but we're expecting 102 today, so it's going to be really rough out here. Oh boy, Northern Utah. So cold in the winter, everybody comes to ski. So hot in the summer that everybody wants to leave, so that's just the way it is. I'm going to end it here. Thanks so much. K0, E-C-K. Gosh, I hope I didn't screw that up. K7, R-A-N. I know results may vary in different parts of Texas, but hey, at least I'm not living in El Paso like I was when I was younger. All I remember was it was really, really hot and desert-like. So, not too much else going on here. Just better run a few errands a little later today, and I checked into the YL system before I came over here. So, back to you and get to check in with you on your hour here this morning. Whiskey, Bravo 9, Chicago style pizza. Okay, thank you very much. Okay, that's the bottom of my list. I had to unlock the computer. It was, uh, it became locked after inactivity there, uh, for a little while. But, uh, it's all done there now. Yeah, good morning to you, man. That was quite the list. Um, I was just, uh, sat back in the chair thinking, uh, when am I gonna come up? Because the bottom is, uh, it's got to be coming close soon. And then there was another couple and another couple. Man, it's like the list didn't end. Yeah, I tried out a new headset this morning. As a matter of fact, I tried it out on the Calibunga net earlier. And, uh, I was given a good audio report from it. It's, uh, technically a gaming headset. But I figured the things that it does good at gaming, uh, audio quality through the noise-canceling mics, and, um, audio quality through the headphones itself, um, were good. Uh, extremely good. As a matter of fact, I was very impressed. I had never put on a headset in my life that sounded as good as this thing does. And, uh, for anybody that's interested in knowing what it is, it's called the SteelSeries. That's the brand name, SteelSeries. And, uh, it's an Arctis Nova 5. An arctis, just spelled A-R-C-P-I-S. It's an Arctis Nova 5 wireless. So, I highly recommend, uh, out to this station for sure. Let me tell you, it's, uh, my favorite headset ever. And that's saying something, because I've got just around my desk alone, there's five headsets. And this thing smokes all of them. Absolutely every one of them, so. If anybody is interested in a good headset for, uh, Echo Link or All Star, or, um, you know, pairing with your phone for listening to music, it's, uh, it's two-mode. It's Bluetooth, but it also comes with this little dongle that enables 2.4 gigahertz, uh, zero-latency mode. So, if you want to use this headset while you're watching a movie, or playing a game, or watching a TV show, there's zero latency, so your audio from your mic will line up perfectly with the, uh, audio from the, you know, your surroundings and stuff, in the game, or in the movie, or whatever. So, um, highly recommend these things. Uh, anybody that's interested in getting a new headset, the mic is excellent on it. Uh, at least as far as I've been told, I'm using it right now, so you can let me know. This is repeater station Kilo Kilo 10 in November for the All Star Note 6222. It's, uh, it's retractable, so it's just pushing, it goes right inside the headset, you don't even see it. Uh, which makes it really good, you know, for listening to music and stuff, too, because you don't have this, uh, mic that's in your way. So, other than that, uh, my advertising is done for today. 7-3, everybody have a great day. Uh, we get nice weather here on the Rock. I'm going out on the deck to relax with smoke and, uh, some very loud music. 7-3 from here on the Rock, this is EO1, UKZ. Okay, Darrell, yeah, that sounds interesting. Uh, I may, uh, need to get another headset here myself. Uh, I've got, uh, Turtle Beach, uh, that's what I've been using for quite a while, and the, uh, coating over the, uh, ear pads that are coming off, so, uh, this still works okay. If I can get my, uh, laptop to, uh, work with it, but, uh, anyway, uh, yeah, that sounds kind of interesting. I'll have to check on those, so, uh, thanks a lot for the information. Alrighty, you have a great day, and, uh, we'll talk to you later. I'm going to try, uh, another round here. Uh, please give me a call, uh, slowly and phonetically. Give me a call at least twice so I can get everything written down. My, uh, old pencil hand is, uh, awful slow, so, uh, like me. Anyway, this is DERR, NAC Control with the World Wide Friendship. If you're there, buddy, the mic is yours. My policy is Josh, I wasn't paying attention. I was looking at this code stuff. I saw a guy do it yesterday, and he said to have it run on your phone once it's finished coding, tell it to develop an app that can run on Canvas. I'm guessing Canvas means your device, your phone, your tablet or whatever. So that's the code that spit out. But I don't know how to run it. And it spit out the second half, which contains additional levels apparently. So I'm not sure, man, but that's what I've been paying attention to here. And my brain is starting to hurt. Coding is not for me. It really isn't. But you can pretty much ask this freaking GPD thing to do anything. It will make an attempt. But I noticed that a documentary I watched yesterday, it's 2025. One has covered Grok and it covered Gemini and Perplexity and a few others. And it was talking about modern AI and the things that it can do. And I didn't realize you could use it to write Home Assistant scripts. Fascinating stuff. You know, you can have it do certain things. You can have it write scripts for just about anything. Websites, I mean, generate the code, upload it. There you go. It's a pretty cool realm we live in. Josh, for sure. And I don't know if you got a chance to look up those headphones that I got the other day after. But man, I tell you, I'm loving these things. I used them again yesterday for like another six hours, I suppose, all told. And the four hours from the night before, that's ten hours of battery use. And I'm only at 85%. They claim 60 hours of music playback and gaming. Or they claim 50 hours if you're using the 2.4 GHz dongle instead of Bluetooth. Which, I gotta be honest, I do prefer for zero latency, right? But these things absolutely rock. I mean, they're fantastic. The sound in them is just great. I love them. And they fit right in with the other five sets of different variants of headphones that I've got here. Back over to you, Josh. The one on you, Casey. Yeah, I'm interested in headphones. I cannot, for the life of me, find my Sony's. I've turned off the alert to everybody in my family. Dig in your bedrooms, find my Sony's. I got two headsets, both of which are $290 a piece, that I'll own now. A couple of years ago, through the kids. And I want them back. Because I think they would be perfect for net controlling. I have a headset. It's wired. It's actually a work headset. So the audio should be fairly good. It's the same style of headset that our call center uses. And they use VoIP. Of course, we have a VoIP service at our ISP. So, that being said, I have it plugged into a USB adapter, which goes to USB-C, which I can plug into my phone. It gives me the boom mic, and it gives me the headset. I don't like how it squeezes my ears. But it seems to be working really well for net control days. I don't use it any other day. Just when I'm rolling the net control because I would like to give you all the best audio possible. I should probably apply that principle every day. But I'm not there yet. The coding, man, I just look at my last mouth because I have my also note on my iPhone. And she can hear it. She likes listening to the net now. So I have that in the living room. And she is listening to it. And I'm over here using my phone and echoing to talk to you all. And I looked over here and you said that and she knew I was going to look at her and smile. Because we were doing that yesterday. I am teaching my wife. She has finally fit onto the bug. She is hooked. We have done some pretty cool things in our teenage days. And then, it's those things that I'm super interested in. I'm trying to get very interested. I'm already interested in AI. So, yeah, we are doing some pretty cool things. And she had already told me today that she had an idea that she would like to put together. And see if she can't make some money off of it. And that's what I'm trying to teach my family right now. Learn how to become a pumped engineer. That's what they call them now. That's the job title. Pumped engineer. It's funny if you ask any AI how to become a pumped engineer. They tell you that there's really no set path. There's no schooling for it. They don't have a degree. It's too new. It's done based on experiences. If you can show a potential employer that you can pump to do some amazing things, you're going to be able to find a job. You might be able to work from home. We are looking at a couple of money making side hustle ventures utilizing AI. We're hoping to make them passive money making income streams. I mean, what's better than having passive income? Absolutely nothing. At least when it comes to money. So, Dale, you and I will get together. I'll get a hold of you after the net. We'll talk about that. We may have to jump on a conference call. But I'll show you how to use that. I'm going to go ahead and take a quick break. And then a call for check ins. Okay. Okay. It is 830 Friday, August 8th. And I am in north central Texas. That means it's time to take all check ins one more time before we head to the top of the list and start our 73 rounds. So, if you've enjoyed anything we've talked about today, if you're listening and you decided, hey, I want to join, well, here's your opportunity. If you make this net great anyhow, so if we don't get to hear from you, then that's just not as good as it would have been if you would have called us. So, with that being said, come on, come on. Anybody who has not joined the cow, doesn't it? Come down with your call sign. This is KK7 in the land. 100. All star notes. W0GL. Located in Shelton, Washington. Okay. I'm for TPC. I'll be in and out. I worked last night, so I just woke up and just heard you go on for check ins. So, I was just kind of listening along here. So, I'd get ready to feed my dog and do some breakfast. A lot of people have a lot to say. So for you Bill N9OFU this is KC2BKG. BEEP Yep and my phone keeps cutting out. Sorry I got a guy out here with one of those vacuum trucks vacuuming off the parking lot here. I kept getting knocked off. Come back in, knocked off, come back in. I'm not sure what's going on. I'm walking over to the shop now to see the status of my truck. And hopefully it's done or it's in there getting fixed. So it will be done. And we'll get out of here. And again you know it's in the text box. If you think it's an inappropriate screenshot, forward it to Daryl, myself, one of the net controllers. And we'll take a look at it and see what the deal is. And then, um, yeah that's where I'm going right now. Sorry just got a couple more things on my mind right now. So I'm going to go ahead and pass it back to you. I don't think this was a 70-tier round. So I'll keep listening. But I gotta go find out what's going on. N9OFU. BEEP N9OFU. This is the 73 round. But I think he did an admirable job. So I'm going to move on here to D. DM4LBF. What did you think D? And what are your final thoughts here? This is KC2PKG. BEEP This is KC2PKG. Thanks, Gray. My final thought is you guys are really doing a great job. You're dedicated. You've been here for 16 years. I mean really. You're doing something good. 16 years is a long time. And um, what I, what I, you know, I'm based, you know, there's not a lot of women in here. And what I'm saying is, even though he says, oh she's a woman, she might be emotional. Well I do not wear my emotions on top of my shoulder. Okay, so I'm able to go through some different opinions and stuff like that and different topics without, you know, sitting here and blowing my butt off. You know, and this is just not my personality. But what I'm saying is, you know, I feel the different opinions and topics and learning from other people's experience and journeys and all that is, it helps me. It opens my mind up for, you know, different things. You know, someone could say, oh, don't pick up that charcoal with my finger off. I said, oh right. Yeah, I'm not going to just do that without a tongue now. Right? So you learn from other people's experience. You don't have to burn your finger off. And, you know, I learned about technology in here. I think it was Josh and this other guy that was talking about the GBT5, the AI, you know, just different things. So yeah, I was trying to say in the message box, you know, it's, you know, some things you have to deal with, I mean, you just have to. It just smacks you in your face a couple times. You got to do something about it, you know. And, you know, well anyway, I want to say my 73s, you guys have wrapped it up. You guys are really dealing with it appropriately, I think. And I like the subject and thank you for being here. 73, back to you. This is KN4LBF. Have a great day, everyone. But there's also a blurb. Well, she has a solution for that. She can give you an ornamental photograph instead of a headshot or something like that. So consider if you want to do that and then I want to have you guys take a crack at writing the blurb that goes next to the picture because you like to tell people this is what this person is like. This is who they are and stuff like that, which I think makes the whole thing much more friendly. And we're also talking about putting in a big section, the Calabunga family, which is all the regular hems who get on here every day and somebody might want to look at that and go, oh, so that's what Alan looks like. Or Alan used to do what? You know, this kind of stuff. So but if you have an objection to that, you need to let us know because I don't want to do anything to make you crazy. These are VE1WIN. Final thoughts. Over to you, Peter. Very good. I like to get involved in this. I've had issues with the net before doing some awful things. But you know me. I think we really group. I would like to get in on this meeting. I'd like to be a part of. Yes. Yeah. He's driving. I got tired. Well, we're back in the house. There you go. It's temperature right now is 28 degrees Fahrenheit. So. So. I agree. That was awesome. Back to you. All right. VE1WIN. Casey to. I drive carefully. You got a long drive home after this. We'll miss you. We'll miss you in 73. Have a great day. Let's see. Next on our list is Gee, who just checked in. Maybe for this conversation. Who knows? Gee, what do you think? Are there things that we shouldn't say to engage in on the cowabunga net? Let us know. This is Casey, Jim, PKG. Over to you. KN4, LBS. Good morning, everyone. This is KN4, LBS. Hello, Gray. Hello, everyone. I always have to say I woke up this morning, and I was grateful. This question you're asking, I think I have a mouthful. But I want to try to cut it as short as I can. I want to give you an analogy. An analogy. Seven people to my company. Seven people to my company. I am the manager. And one person of the team, because it's a teamwork, to keep my company going. It's disruptive. And because of the person being so disruptive, two people kept on calling off. So my company was kind of quibbling. So now I have the disruptor, which is not a great employee. Two employees are calling off because of the disruptor. So I have three people off. I have four people that's working their butts off to keep the company afloat. And I still lose my company because I only working with four people instead of seven. The only thing I had to do was I'll have six. I could work with six for my company because I only needed seven. If that makes any sense from my analogy, I'm going to reset. Just one second. And as for being disrespectful, I am the kind of person, I respect you. Even if you don't show a bit of respect, I'll still give you common courtesy. But as a net controller, I am the police for here. If I become a net controller, whatever the case is, I feel that I control what's going on in my room. And I find that I am responsible. So if I feel that someone's being disruptive, let me go. I feel this, I don't know. It's just whatever it is. It's not my room. You know what I'm saying? But I'm still here. And I still come because I know a lot of people here. The six people are OK. But it is what it is. I don't own this, so I don't create the rules. And like I said, I like to play in the playground. So I play in the playground respectfully. I don't throw sand in your face. So that's me for K and for LBS. LBS. I'll be at 1W1M. Peter, you're back. OK, we called you a couple of times. I'm going to let Allen go. And then I'll call on you. We're asking about things you shouldn't do on the cowabunga net. So you get a chance to think about it for a second. D, I think that is a great analogy and good explanation of what people do. And very much so. You're running your net. You can ask Joe. It's your net. You run it any way you want. And short of, well, we're not going to talk about this or we're not going to talk about that. That will get you a lot of backlash, that kind of stuff. But you're right. You're the cop. That's what controls do. It's part of their job. Allen, W0GL. And you know what? Since I had you one and done, I didn't put you down on the bottom of the list when you wanted to contribute. And I should have. So it's over to you, Allen. What shouldn't you do on the cowabunga net? This is KC2PKG. OK. This is going to blow your mind. But you know, I've said this before. Watch out for the quiet ones. You never know what they're thinking. But I'm going to say this. And it's not very nice. But a week ago or so, there were texts that were being made in the text box. They were very unkind to another ham. And that should not ever be said or done. The same thing is on the air. I'm not going to say who it was, who it was against. But anyway, W0GL, Dr. Neff. Do you have any screenshots for me, Allen, in regard to that? Have you one, UKZ? No, I don't. Sorry. W0GL. I don't have any either, unfortunately. If anybody ever sees a Sargent for Upgrade, if anybody ever sees anything like that in the text box, I'm often on RF. The text box is not regulated like RF is. But if there is some nonsense and it's directed toward another ham, and it's demeaning, degrading, insulting, whatever, take screenshots, guys. Because in order to do anything about any of this stuff, I know who you're talking about. I know who you're talking about comments being directed towards. But we need evidence. And that's the thing. On here, when it comes to the audio side, we can pull recordings. The system's recorded 24-7. We can go back through and pull the recordings. The text box, unfortunately, that's not kept the same way. So if you do see anything in there, two buttons on your phone will take a picture of your screen, send them on over to me. And then we can work on dealing with it then. Sorry, Gray. Back to you, man. Feeling you, UKZ. This is repeater station Kilo Kilo 7, November Quebec, November. Yep. All-star notes. That's correct. Well, you'll feel more confident if you have actual evidence. And you'll be able to examine it for yourself. And I don't think that's a bad thing at all. OK, WB9 CSP. He's jumping in here. He's got some things to say. So we're going to listen to him. This is KC2PKG over to WB9 CSP. WB9 CSP. Well, I know this one's going to scare the hornets' nest. But I know Daryl has been a ham for about as long as I have. We both started back in 06. But the difference is I don't know about the Canadian rolls as much as he does for ham radio. The rule that I was brought up on is no religion or politics. And I know that sometimes gets brought up here. But I noticed as things have gone on and on in the years, it's kind of changed. You're allowed to talk about it. But it's still kind of like one of those tabby things where you have to be super careful about it. Because you can still very easily get things tumbling out of control if you start talking about it. So the way I do that with my net, since you mentioned nets as well, is I try and keep this topic very neutral. Or if it does have either of those in it, it's kind of like a history thing. What did Pope Francis do when he was in Italy or something? So that's usually how I make my approach to that stuff. But that's just my thing about the net. I haven't heard it in a long time, though. But I think it got brought up once. Vaccine, gray, WB9, CSP. How do you know when UKZ put comment? Go ahead with your comment. Richard, there's no written rule in any amateur radio classifications, American or Canadian. You said rule. Rule you were brought up with. There's no rule. It's not written. If you can find it, I'd love to see it. But it doesn't exist. We encourage free speech on this net. And if people are offended by general discussion topics, then that's on the person who's offended and not the topic itself. So we try to keep things here when we discuss politics and religion. We try to keep them as people's opinion only and not direct it toward anyone. I'd never insult your religion, for instance, or your political views. But we're open to discuss anything that's in the news, which is very political. And if someone wants to discuss religious topics, we don't often do it. Sometimes political and religious do get crossed, and then we do have a conversation. But as far as just freedom of speech remains king on this one, man, I think he's only a new ham within the last couple of years. I'm viewing you, Casey."},{"callsign_confidence":0.94,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-08-31T17:14:43+00:00","id":29172,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":29171,"text":" Whiskey Bravo 9 Charlie Sierra Papa WB 9 CSP mobile Richard Paris Texas.
