If you come to Johnson City and get on 99E and go into Lancaster, I don't know if they're still open, but we used to have a little hot dog stand right there in Lancaster where you turn to go from Lancaster to Monroe. There was a place called the Junkyard Dog. I've got to tell you, the best dog out in the biggest, all big hot dogs I've ever seen. A friend of mine used to call them round stakes. I called him the Junkyard Dog and I paid him $10.50 for a footlong with almost a quart of chili on it. It was cheese on top. Anyway, that thought just drove off the left thing. Back to that, I guess I'm done. I'll take a seven micrometer back to back control. That's a great regular day. 87MR. Alright there, Mr. K. Hopefully that place is still starting up really good hot dogs for folks of the native who's there. Thank you for the reach. I helped chase in the way of those crickets. Alright, next I've got Jim, W-8-8-H-U-B. Good morning. Good morning, Gina. Katie's serving G-E-C-W-A-8-H-U-B. I'm just back from church. We had our after church service, our whole gathering with coffee and good yeast. Anyway, so I got home and I stripped off my long pants and shirt and everything and got into shorts and t-shirts. I'm comfortable again. Anyway, that's pretty much it. Glad I could make it in before you... I thought I might. It's somewhere before the end of the hour I get in. So thank you very much and I'm pleased to get in and talk to you. Everything's fine here. I just took the red ribbon off my... I guess it was red, yeah. Off my driveway. It got seal coated yesterday. And now I can use my garage again. So that's pretty much it from here. 73, 87G-E-C-W-A-8-H-U-B. Alright there, Jim. Well, glad that your driveway's been maintained and you're back to being able to get up there to the garage. Glad to have you in. I made it in after church there. Always good to hear you, Jim. And do have a good rest of your Sunday there and your comfy shorts and t-shirts. Always good. Alright, next I've got Hunter, KK7NQN from KD7GECMS. Good morning. Well, good morning. This is Hunter, KK7NQN. I'm ready to launch a pretty ambitious project here. I started almost exactly a month ago now on what I call the KK7NQN project. Just because, well, it's easy to call it. And that's basically a logger that runs on my all-star node here and transcribes audio and logs the call plans as seen. If anyone's curious to see that, that's at KK7NQN.net, or you can look it up on my QRC page. Anyways, I finally got that working to where it's usable. And now I want to dive head first into another project that I'm calling the LSN, which is Logging Service Node. That hopefully will allow net controls or other HAMs to connect to it, either across the web or across all-star or whatever other way I add. And allow them to get their transcripts back without having to do code or run their own server or anything like that. The whole idea behind this is to be of service to the HAM community. Even though I've ran into the issue, some people find it kind of controversial whether they want it to be actually transcribed into text. Which, by the way, if you do, feel free to contact me. I love talking to people about how they see this project because this was just a thing that came up in my mind about a month ago. And I just decided to start throwing code down to see what I could do. And yeah, it's been a fun little project, but getting ready to move into stage two, I guess. Anyways, KK7NQN, back to net control. Alright there, Hunter. It sounds like you got some great skills with all that programming to figure that stuff out. It sounds like a wonderful project. And I'm sure there's plenty of folks that would love to use that and find value in what you're working on there. Congratulations on finding a niche in HAM Radio that you're falling in love with there and having some great exploration. Thanks for joining my net here this Sunday on the Worldwide Friendship Net and have a good rest of your day. And next on the list we've got Joe who helped chasing away those crickets. KK7Z from KD7G. See you in the net. There's a guy right there, Joe. Yeah, boy, that's exactly what I was doing there, Gina. Yesterday was really quiet. You're busier today, but yesterday was really, really quiet. I don't know where everybody was. But you know what's funny is I can multitask really good, you know? And like when the Tour de France was on, I would have that playing in the background and listening to it. And I always have a radio playing music in the background, which I do now, and then listening to the net. And I can hear all three and decipher all three in separate parts of my brain or something. It's all good. But, you know, All Stars full duplex, so you can hear two people at the same time. And I was hearing Jim call in. Of course, I recognized his voice and Hunter came in too on top of him. So I heard both coming in at the same time. But for some reason, I just can't. You can only like focus on one. It's weird. I can never get this thinking about it. I got the KK7, so I'm glad we got him in there. So that was cool. And I was going to give you all an update. You know, I preordered that Blue Eddy power bank, power pack, you know, portable battery. It does AC power. It's got four AC plugs on it. And USB-C and USB-A and serial lighter plug and all that stuff. It's 1800 watts. I put it on ahead of the pre-sales, like $399 for it. And I think regular price like $800. But I've had a chance to use it a little bit now. I'm going to tell you what. I've plugged my coffee maker into it. Microwave oven, toaster oven. I've tried pretty much everything and it's effortlessly, effortlessly, does it effortlessly. I've got my drone battery plugged into it right now, which doesn't, you know, it doesn't pull a lot of power, like 70 watts or something. It says I have like 80 hours of power left on it. So I pretty much have unlimited power with the drone and cameras on and out and about. So yeah, really impressed with that. The second one I got, the first one I got is a much, much smaller one. I think it's 600 watts, 6800 watts, something like that. But yeah, if you're ever out camping, I'm sure, I know with the camping you did, you probably had something like that, Gina. If not that, I'm probably a gas generator. But yeah, nice stuff. I don't have to worry about putting gas or everything. I got some solar panels for it. And there you go. So anyway, there's a few crickets for you. Show them what it's like. It's a PK-7Z. Thank you. All right, there we go. I'm glad that that battery's working out. It sounds like putting it through a very good test there. Those microwaves can be tricky on the running off of battery power. So I'm glad that that is working well for you and giving you all the mobile power that you need. And yeah, we have a gas generator in our travel trailer, but we also have two 6-volt golf cart batteries that we've got running parallel there. Series, I can't remember. And that, yeah, lasts quite a bit for running stuff when we're boondocking off the power grid. So always good to have other options, especially as those that use like a CPAP or something and travel or find themselves out of power. Something like that to have would be really good. So thanks for taking time to recheck in there and share that and again, chase away those crickets. So we've got a little bit over five minutes left here in an hour. So let's see if we can get a few more folks in and close it down for our Sunday. So if you've been waiting to check in, this is it. I'll say our last call because it's getting really quiet there. So last round here for the Worldwide Friendship Net. Please come with your call signs. Victor Victor Martin Tulsa. The one W.A.N. Victor Echo One Whiskey in November. Hoping to get out of town today, get back on the road. Because when you're broke down, if you're out on the road, you get paid for that. But when you're home, you don't get paid because you're home. So I need to get back on the road and get to working. So yeah, that's the deal with my mom. So I'm going to have to talk to my brother again because he kind of scared her with all the talk of putting her in a nursing care facility and stuff like that. Because she's fully in control of her faculties. With all the stuff that she does and the life that she leads, she does not want to go back and live in Alabama. For the weather and for the situation at my brother's house, I think he's got like 15, 16 kids there at his house. Plus his mother-in-law. And every time my mom's running back to visit, it's really stressed her out. To the point, one time she had to come back early because she just couldn't handle the situation there. So happy with my trip yesterday. So that was Providence. The truck broke down and I got the opportunity to go out and talk to her. So it makes me feel better about being stuck here the extra two days. Much better. But magic, unexplained physics. Anything that's unexplained is magic until it gets explained. And like Kevin was saying, there's that kind of magic and then there's the sleight of hand magic that Penn and Teller and other musicians put out there. And I am of the Christian faith, but I think, again, there are things that are beyond our comprehension, i.e. unexplained physics. That are unexplained for us, but are noble and taken care of by Almighty. So, all right, let me go ahead and pass it back to you, Gray. Because I'm going off on tangents because I'm trying to get a lot of things done all at once. N9-O-F-U, back there. KC2-PKG. N9-O-F-U, this is KC2-PKG. Interesting answer. I think you could have stopped halfway through. When you said Providence, that was Providence. Is that different than magic? I don't know. I don't know. But, we also said that as soon as something is explained, it's not magic anymore. And I thought that was pretty wise. Jim, W-A-8-H-U-B, how was your weekend? How's your day going? And we're asking people whether they believe in some form of magic or not. This is KC2-PKG. Over to you, Jim. W-A-8-H-U-B. Good morning, Gray. This is W-A-8-H-U-B. And I live in Kettering, Ohio. And I don't believe in magic, but my tactic is music. I have radio, cell, my alps, and tunes that are tuned to one station. And that's the classical music station here in Dayton, Ohio area. Which is this year 40 years old, one year. But when I think about it, the composers in the past and even today, when they sit down, out of their minds comes this beautiful thing we call music. And to me that is magic. The fact that they can sit down and their mind works in such a way that they can produce this kind of... I'll call it magic and music. So anyway, that's my goal of it. Have to deliver some books, some crisps or containers to our clubhouse, current clubhouse, which we have to leave. And we're packing up all the radios and everything, so I'm donating or floating off some containers. And that's it for me today. I think maybe I checked in once before. I'm usually not on the internet this early, but hey, I had a good night's sleep, I woke up and I said, let's get moving. So here I am, just about finished with my breakfast too. And that is the song, magic is time of the morning. So that's it for me. Uh, P-C-Q-P-K-G-W-A-A-A-T-U-B. W-A-H-U-B. Uh, James, you want to stick around and we'll call on you again? P-C-Q-P-K-G. I'll stick around for a while. Yeah, I'll listen. I may have to run around the house a little bit, but I'll listen. And I'll probably, I'll certainly switch over to the visiting conference at 10. And I'm going to do a quick check in there today. I can, it's part of my routine anyway. Thank you, y'all. Stick around. Take care. W-A-H-U-B is back to the... W-A-H-H-U-B. And we'll be glad to have you. This is KC2PKG and now we're going to move on to the next question. Alright, so, um, the Cowabunga Net, the way I envision it, is a place where you can talk about anything you want. You have an opinion about this or an opinion about that. You know, you can express it here. And we will listen to you. We will receive whatever you want to send. And we don't have any limits on that. This got tested for me on the Saturday at Kevin's Net. When one of our trusty hams here sent some deeply offensive stuff, and I was like, wow. Wow. And I sat there. I thought about it all through Saturday. But by the way, that dinner party went off beautifully. I think we have 16 friends. Um, but I kept thinking about it, going, you know, do I have any right to call that guy up and say, hey dude, don't do that anymore. Um, and I'm very interested in what you guys think. Are there limits to things that we can say on the Cowabunga Net? I mean, we get to set our own limits. We talk about all sorts of things that you're not supposed to talk about in hand radio, but we do it anyway and we do it successfully. But are there limits to the things that you just shouldn't do or say on the Net? And with that, we will go to Gerald, who probably will have a lot to say about this. V01 UKZ, this is TC2 PKG. What shouldn't you say on the Net? And the second question, Graham, still looking. Stop talking, man. Are there things you should not say on the Cowabunga Net? That's the simplicity of the question there. We're not allowed to talk about anything, but are there things that we shouldn't say? This is TC2 PKG. Over to you. V01 UKZ. There absolutely is. Anything derogatory, directed at one of your fellow hams. We all tolerate that crap. Calling out someone for their sexuality, race, colour or creed will not tolerate that crap. Excessive swearing. That has to be nipped in the bud. I mean, I understand there are some words that are kind of grey area, like shit. That's not a terrible one. F words and C words and stuff like that, they're not fit. But, yeah, there are definitely some things you shouldn't say. Now, if some of the bleeding hearts had their way, all we would talk about is the weather and our ailments. And that's where this Net differentiates itself from the... Hang on, Graham. Just hang on one sec."},{"callsign_confidence":0.99,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-08-11T06:11:04+00:00","id":16088,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":16087,"text":" Okay, I picked up all the spots and everything, let me see. I got, what was it, it was K? I can't read my own handwriting, this is really bad news. Anyway, it ended in FRR. I do not know what I was trying to write there. KR4, FRR, that's it, KR4, FRR. We got PM6UYZ from Rancho Cucamonga. We got Bill, M9, OFU, who did a great job yesterday. I forgot because I hadn't had him be the net control, or I haven't been in the net with him as the net control in a long time, like two years maybe. And then we got Jim, WA8HUB. So let's go to our first player here, which is KR4FRR. I'm not sure I ever heard your call sign before, so welcome to the Calibunga net. This is KC2PKG and we've been talking about, and we'd love your comments on, magic. Do you know of any? Is there magic in the universe? Or not? This is KC2PKG. Over to you, KR4FRR. Good morning. This is KR4FRR. I actually got on for the first time Friday, I think, on the Calibunga net. I'm pretty new. Just got licensed a couple weeks ago and stumbled across programs on the Do Drop In Network, and so far I've enjoyed it. As far as the magic goes, I believe in magic for short. Like another caller was saying, I think there's the magic that's the sleight of hand. As far as the supernatural side of it that you were talking about, I personally am a Christian, so I believe in God. And I think it's cause and effect. Basically we have free will, and whatever you do and other people do kind of creates the outcomes of our life. And I'll send it back to you. This is KR4FRR. KR4FRR. This is KC2PKG. Okay. Okay, good answer, good answer. Let's go down the ranch and cook among you. KN6UYZ. We're about to know what's going on in your life right now, but the question is, is there such a thing as real magic? I keep changing just a slight and tuning the question. So what do you think? KN6UYZ, this is KC2PKG. Well, good morning KN6UYZ. I have been listening for a little while. I've just been trying to wake up actually, so I'm fully half woken up now. So I thought I'd just put my name on the list. Magic, no. Put me down in the no column for magic. Magic, I believe more in coincidence than I do magic. Not so much into faith, I sort of believe in science and things that can be proven. So yeah, that's a no column for me. Back to that KN6UYZ. KN6UYZ, all the numbers of skeptics are rising. Alright, Bill, N9O-F-U. We're asking people if they believe in real magic. This is KC2PKG. Open to you, N9O-F-U. Good morning, Greg. Good morning to the net. I've been listening for a little bit. I ended up being stuck here as everybody knows. And then yesterday I ended up going out to my daughter's house, brought some stuff out to her that my wife had for my daughter and for the grandkids. And then went out and talked to my mom. Because my brother was after me about wanting to put her into a nursing home. He wanted to move her out to Alabama, where he is, and put her up in his place. They have a rather large place. They just added on to it because his mother-in-law has moved in there. But his mother-in-law is suffering a little bit from dementia. And she's not quite all together there a lot of the times. But I think he was projecting that onto our mother. Amy talked to her after her fall, but she had knocked out the tooth. She had a big...her lips were swollen. Underneath her jaw was swollen because she fell on her face. And she was on oxycontin or oxycodone or something that made her sound worse than she was. I suppose I'll just put it that way. So I went out and talked to her and talked to the people that are taking care of her. And walked away from that meeting with a strong sense of, she's doing fine. She's doing fine. She's only, in the last three or four years, I think, fallen maybe three times. And both, two of those were out in the wild. One was near the post office where there was a big hole and she had pushed her friend to make sure that her friend didn't step in the hole. And she ended up stepping in the hole partially and that's what caused her to go down. And then the one at the church where she wasn't using her cane because she had her knee brace on."},{"callsign_confidence":0.94,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-08-11T07:47:37+00:00","id":16112,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":16111,"text":" checking in this morning? What shouldn't we talk about, do, engage in on the cowabunga net? What shouldn't we? This is KC2-PKG over to you. W-A-8-H-U-B. This is repeater station kilo, kilo seven, November, Quebec, November. Oh great, that's the question. Located in Shelton, Washington. KC2-PKG, W-A-8-H-U-B. Well, hmm. Well, hmm. You know, part of how we signed up for them and got our amateur radio license was, I don't know what the right words was, but it's to be accommodating or friendly or compatible with everybody else we talked to. I go over some comments I heard before that we don't need to insult each other. We don't need to disengage. We can disagree with what somebody says. That's part of a conversation. There's two parts of the conversation. I've read it over and over again. There's the listen, listen, and then talk. And talk not to the world, but talk to the person you're having the conversation with. Like I'm having a conversation with you, Greg. And that's, you know, to get Echo Link access, you gotta send the controllers of Echo Link your kind of an open license document for the FCC. And that's the source, but I know the FCC is the end of it because we're not on here. We're on the internet, we're on wired communications just like telephones. Now, I guess FCC has some control over stuff over wire, but I'm not sure what it is. Anyway, I'm rambling and that's too early in the morning. I've finished my breakfast. I've got to mark some containers. And I need to do that in the next 10 minutes. That's it for me today. And I'm actually gonna have to leave the net. So goodnight everybody. So glad to be over here on the coast, because I think Salem is going to have its third day or over 100 degrees today. So not missing that heat, that's for sure. And speaking of bunnies, this RV park we stay in, many years ago it used to be called the Bunny RV Park because there was just hundreds of bunnies around here. And there's still a lot, but a few years ago there was a couple of cougar, or bobcats, bobcat family here on the hill behind the RV park. And they eliminated a lot of the rabbits, but now they're coming back again. I think the Fish and Game Department came there and removed the bobcats. So they were worried about it and also taking care of our little puppy dogs, so they got the bobcats out of here. So we got two weeks we're going to enjoy here. We do have to go back to Salem tomorrow soon as a doctor's appointment. Maybe I'll pick some of my vegetables out of my garden and bring them back. And today I think we're just going to go visit a couple of those really, really small towns around here and wander through some shops and stuff like that. So that's it. Go ahead, there, Jim. OK, our EHJ, WA8, HUB, the WADGN repeater is alive, because I was on it last night. We had our interclock net, and it was working fine. But I think there was having some real trouble in that area with the internet. And to the point that that's probably the issue. They just can't get the internet stable enough. There's a bunch of construction going on, so who knows what else is happening there. So that pretty much explains the reason why you can't get into it and why it can't go to IRLP or anything else. So that's pretty much it. 73, AKK, W, A, and HUB. All right, there, Jim. All right, well, thank you for that update. Yeah, I thought I heard you that last night while I was sitting back here and stuff like that. So yeah, the repeater itself really doesn't have anything to do with the internet. And expensive, but we don't have anything to bequeath, but we're going to make sure they're probably going to get it. Anyway, so we're going to work out wheels. They say that they have them online, but we want to get all liquefied and all that stuff. So everybody have a great day. And keep up the good work, you know. That's fine. XCX, back to you, buddy. 7-3. All right. OK. I had to wait for the notice on 3030 to activate, so there you go. All right. OK. All right, Woody. Thanks a lot for checking in, buddy. And we will talk at you later. We'll say something to you. You have yourselves a great day. All right, with that, let's move on down to the KC7 FMW. Miss Lissy, how you doing today?"},{"callsign_confidence":0.94,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-08-12T07:28:16+00:00","id":16390,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":16389,"text":" and talk about hurricanes, because I get worried about my family in Maryland. So, that's scary. Alright Woody, well you have a wonderful day. Now let's go talk to Jim, W-A-8-H-U-B. Good morning. Good morning Missy, KC7FMW. This is W-A-8-H-U-B. I have an explanation for why the W-8-D-T-N repeater doesn't show up anymore. One of our members of the club, I belong to the club that owns the repeater, went out to the site and there is no internet there, zero. So anything that depended on internet is not there at all, which means that, I mean it isn't there at all. So anything that depended on internet, like an I-R-O-P into the Michigan complex, can happen. And that's, there's no good, there's no explanation why this happened, but it's, anything inside the tower that used internet, and we have, there are several repeaters up there, they no longer have internet available at all. So that's pretty much it. Thank you. And Larry, that's what happened. John went out and looked it over, and he sent out a message, and that's the deal. Oh, K-C-F-N, K-C-7-F-M-W-W-8-A-T-U-B. I hope they fix it for you guys, because let me tell you what, I miss our I-R-L-P, we have I-R-L-P here, but we had a repeater that broadcasted this net for years, and I missed that repeater so bad, because I'd love to broadcast the net on my radio, oh man, that would be the best thing ever, because that could ever happen. So I wish it could, because I'd love being able to do that. So anyway, alright, well you have a good day Jim, and we'll talk at you later. Now let's go talk to Quinn, K-6-T-K-R. Good morning to you. Good morning Missy, everybody else on the net, I hope everything's going well there for you. You've got a lot of cheering in your voice this morning, which is great. I've got this gun on, so I missed the rabbit or the buddy story from Joe, so it must have been a good one. But anyway, yesterday out at the hangar, the fuselage has a fairly big curve in it as it comes up toward the engine, and so we had to soak and bend some of the parts to make that happen. And so hopefully by Saturday when all the students show up, all the curvatures will be in and they can put in all the support struts and brackets and things like that, and it's going to start to look like an airplane. So really excited about that. And I also pulled the rings on the pistons of this 100-year-old engine, and it's going to make putting the cylinders back on again. And perhaps even down the line we might kind of get an electric motor that will rotate the propeller at a slow speed for people to see how that all works. But not sure about that yet, but kind of preparing for it. And of course the rings will be archived and stored away so that they will never be separated from that engine. So anyway, it was a great day. Looks like I've got a pretty quiet one today, so I'm not exactly sure what I'm going to do, but it's going to be fun no matter what. So with that, Glennon Irvine, K6TKR, back to net. Glenn, you know, I find it fascinating all that you do with airplanes and your students and stuff. I think that's so cool that you do all of that. And so I think that's awesome. I miss flying. I mean, I never flew, obviously, but being able to get in an airplane and fly somewhere, and I was supposed to do it on the third of September, and not going to. So before I turn the net to Kerry, because I am going to give Kerry that it's his turn in a minute, but I'm going to have Joe... Oh, oh, um... Hold on. Looks like you guys..."},{"callsign_confidence":0.94,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-08-13T07:31:49+00:00","id":16642,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":16641,"text":" Alright, Chanel is expecting to be on Michigan by now. So, that's what takes us to the bottom of the list and the end of the Wednesday morning. Cowabunga, I'd like to thank everybody who came out and joined us. We got a bunch of new stations this morning. I think that is just fantastic and the more the merrier. If you didn't get a chance to pick up the mic today, well, tomorrow's another day. And we encourage you to do so. We don't bite out here unless invited. Chomp, chomp, chomp. 7-3 everybody, have a fantastic day. Catch Russell out here tomorrow. Josh on Friday. Kevin on Saturday. Not sure, or maybe Dee on Saturday. Not sure who's covering on Sunday, but Gray's back out here on Monday. And then we start it all over again. 7-3 everybody, stick around for the worldwide friendship net. They are about 14 minutes into their net. So, please stand by. Wait for their net control to call for check-ins before you throw out your call. 7-3, and all the best from here on the rocket. This is E01, UKZ. Come to the Michigan conference, number 96170, located in Western Michigan. From the bed. Those poor little babies. That's just going to scare the heck out of them. But I'm so glad that's it. It's not a comfortable place to be. And yeah, I'm doing it for Zoe. She's in for me. And I'll do it next week to get back on track with the regular schedule of their boss. So, and we'll run it by you if there are any changes you get in their rotation. But you never know. It's like a box of cookies, right? Anyway, all right, thank you very much for being there. And oh, Joe, thank you for being there in the background as well. All right, let's move on and upward. Get some more check-ins, or whatever. And you know, later on in the net, we'll take rejects. Or rejects, but yeah. Let's roll on. Talk about stumbling and mumbling, that's me. Call me mumbles on a Wednesday morning. All right, look at the check-ins. Twice, slowly, and phonetically. And the road hazard victim wiping up the rear. Sorry about that. Anybody who was trying to check in, who didn't make it, come down. All-Star, Note 6222, located in Shelton, Washington. Control, this is killer, 7 Yaki Fox Echo. Hello, Charlie 7, Yaki Fox Echo, Darryl R. Robert, Martin Robert, just got in, man. And we're glad to have you. Alright, let's see. We've added, are we? 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 is enough. Yeah, you guys are enough for me, for sure. Alright, enough joking around. V01 UKZ, good morning, Darryl. Well, a very good morning to you, Robert. I hope you're having a good day, man. What the heck? Why did my phone just start playing music all of a sudden? Hmm. Audio message. Oh, okay, I know what that was. Alright, now that I'm straightened away here, I hope you're having a good day. I just finished calling the Kalabunga Net, and we had a good conversation over there this morning. You know, as political as ever. It's subject to it in the news, you know, being heavily covered in the news, so it inevitably got discussed, so I'm about the size of that. And while on my way to get the bike fixed, I've got a temporary job from my uncle. He runs a bus company, and they're doing transport back and forth for the Canada Games this year, until the 28th of August, and he needs those buses cleaned out in the evenings, so I'm going to do that, and that's going to be able to give me the rest of what I needed to get the bike fixed up there, so looking forward to that, that's for sure. And yeah, so that's really all I got going on, man. Nothing really serious happening here except the fires. We've got the outer part of St. John's currently on fire with a massive wildfire. They did issue mandatory evacuations last night for a section of the town next to ours called Paradise. The area called Three Island Pond in Paradise, Newfoundland is under mandatory evacuation because of wildfire concerns, and another area called Southlands, which is part of St. John's here itself, is under a wait-and-see evacuation order. It's recommended that people get out now, but if you don't want to, they're just on a wait-and-see for the complete evacuation order there, the mandatory one. So hopefully they get that fire under control. They've got six water bombers now that are back and forth from sunup to sundown, a thousand that thing, and they've been doing that for the last couple of days with four water bombers, and they just brought in two more from Quebec. That'll be six that they've got working very, very vigorously trying to get these fires knocked down. We often don't get them in eastern Newfoundland where it's currently burning on the Avalon Peninsula or where I live, so really hope that they don't spread any further. But last I heard, they had something like 200 firefighters and six water bombers working on that thing, so hopefully they get it knocked down soon. Other than that, man, it's back over to you, 73, and all the best from here on the rock. Wow, that went from good news to bad news. I'm glad you're getting the bike fixed, and yeah, good deal on that job. It sounds like it came at the right time for sure. And you guys never have any good conversations over there at the California Nutt, do you? It's never controversial either. And the fires, I guess paradise isn't so paradise-y, huh? Well, you have a wonderful day if you can, and maybe put on a face mask as Art always says, no matter where you are. Oh my goodness, you guys are really going through it up there, and I wish you all the best there. Keep us informed. I'm sure with all those bombers and firefighters, they should put it out really, really quickly. One should hope. But you're not too far from the water, so you can always take a little step, right? All right, like I said, we've got the Canadian contingent here, and I love Canadian. It's one of my favorite problems. Oh, only kidding. Here at 6GR is that good money for you. GV2R2QVA6GR said, hey Brooklyn, Bobby, how you doing? We're doing OK. The weather is shitty. Oh, excuse me, crappy. That better work. I had to check myself there. We got 15 Celsius climbing to 16. Not 15, 16. Very cloudy and showers. Yeah, I was saying about the thunder lightning storms they had, well, we had them last night, too. It was pretty close, I tell you. I'm glad I came downstairs and disconnected the antennas from the coax cable from the radios so they don't get fried if they ever get struck. But my antennas are down fairly low. They're like 25 feet above ground. But you never know. They can be, turn my radio down there, they're chunking on one of the local repeaters. You never know, they can be a lightning rod. Undergrounded. So, anyway. And there's much else going on today. I'm going to go pick up my acoustic bass. It was in the shop on the McCoy North side. So I'll go get that after the net. It's about 8 o'clock, part time. So, here in Alberta. And Tracy's gone to work and she's been fighting a flu. Must have started with a hab in the cold coming back from the island a couple, beginning of the month. Pardon me, the end of July. So, anyway. Ya'll have a good day. Bye for now. Thank you, my mate. KBTR2286TRZ. You're a zit, huh? Hey Bill, how you doing? And I like your description of the weather. Crappy. Oh my goodness. You Canadians are funny people. I'm glad you have a sense of humor, bud. You need it around me, that's for sure. And your wife likes to work for the flu. That's what I call sharing, for sure. Alright, thanks a lot Bill. We'll check you down in a while. Next up is AP-17W. Good answer. Good answer, every day is magic. Alright, KM1X. Kevin, take a shot at this question. Do you believe in any kind of magic? And you can define it yourself. This is KC2PKG. KC2PKG KM1X. Let's just get, I mean, there's magic. You know, it comes down to the definition. I mean, you know, the Penn and Teller magic is not real magic. I mean, it's all fake. It's sleight of hand or whatever. So that's not real. They call it magic. Based on your definition of not being invisible, you know, then technically, you know, the microwave oven is a magic box that will, you don't see anything, but all of a sudden the food gets hot, you know? So I guess, you know, it's a fine line, I guess, in defining what is magic and what is faith. And I don't know who it was that said it, but you know, about religion, a couple of references to religion have been made. You know, you can't see it, but that's what makes it faith. You know, you believe in it because you can't explain it. And there are things that can't be explained that you can't see. The microwave oven can be explained, even though you can't see it. So is it magic? You know, we just have a faith that when we push the buttons on the box, that whatever comes out, it's gonna be hot. You know, things like that. So yeah, I would say, I believe that there are things out there that can't be explained, but I believe that it exists, and that's, I guess, where faith comes in. I don't know, and that I would slap the magic term on it, because again, you know, I think of magic as, you know, a magician pulling a rabbit out of a hat and all that. And it's not really pulling it out of thin air. It's hidden somewhere. I mean, it's all, you know, it's fake. So there you go. KM1X, back to you. KM1X, this is KC2, PKG. You know, there was this great story, and I wish I could remember the title, but it was about a land where there, witches and wizards, and the most dangerous person in the land was the magician. And he worked like a regular magician. He had tricks that he could execute. And they were all terrified of it, because there was no beating him. No beating him at all. All right. Ooh, backed by popular demands, W0GL. Alan, is there magic? Tell us what you think. This is KC2, PKG. Well, do you believe in magic? Wasn't that a song by the turtles back in the 60s? Oh, anyway, I do. I want to say one more thing about magicians. You know, the act where they throw the knife at the girl in the bowbird. They actually toss a knife behind them. That knife comes out from behind the board. I saw that a while back. But yes, I believe in magic. Anything that happens, that's unexplainable, which has already been said, is magic. Anything that you think, maybe in advance, and then it happens, that could be magic. Poresight, I don't know what. Anyway, W0GL, back to that. All right, the unexplained. We may have a question sometime when you can talk about your experiences that were not there. Not where? Not from this universe. Have you ever been somewhere, felt something, done something that was impossible to explain? So we'll say that one for another day because we have another question here. And first I'm going to see if anybody else wants to check in. So if you'd like to get in on the conversation, this morning, Monday, August 11th, this is the cowabunga, this is the place to do it. Talk about anything you want. And the next thing we're going to talk about is the note 6222, located in Shelton, Washington. For now, I just want to hear your call sign.
