Alright, uh, M3, O-M-O, good morning, Elaine. Good morning to you. It's a beautiful hot day here. Um, we're gonna be close to 100 again. And, um, that makes it very, very warm. Although some of the cats don't mind and they're still out on the screen porch. We've got the door cracked open so they can come in when they want to. So, um, they're quite happy. No similar inside though. Um, I had a strange experience last night. Um, yesterday, I received a letter from my bank stating that, um, it was tied to my yearly charge of $20 for my, um, of safety closet box. And I don't even remember getting a safety closet box. So we went to the bank yesterday and sure enough, I did take one out a year ago in July 26th. They had the papers and yes, it was my signature, but I couldn't find my keys. And she said, well, we gave you a red envelope and showed me what it looked like with two keys in it. And I said, well, I don't know what you do. She said, well, go home and look for your keys. Cause if you can't find them, there is a $300 charge to the keys. So we got in the car and I turned to my higher power and I said, okay, please show me where those keys are. So we went back home and actually in the car, I had my eyes closed and in my mind side, I saw the red envelope in my jewelry box. So I came home, went directly to the jewelry box and guess what? That's where it was. I was so grateful and so thankful. And I screamed for my brother, Rob, and I said, come here, I found them. And there they were right where I saw it in my mind's eye. That was just unbelievable. So we're going to go back today and return the keys and see if I have anything in the box. I don't even know. So if anybody has a safety closet box, make sure you know where your keys are. So anyway, back to you. Have a great day. This is November 3, ask Mike Oskar. Alright, thank you Elaine. I used to have a safety closet box a long time ago. My dad always did. That's why I did, I guess. But I couldn't figure out anything worthwhile putting in it. So I finally cancelled that and have a fire safe lock box that I keep papers in. Anyway, that's a lot more accessible, although the same key problem exists. Alright, thank you Elaine. And the KJ7WQI. Good morning, ma'am. Good morning, Bill. It's afternoon over here on the East Coast. Just flew from San Antonio up to Washington, D.C. And we're a little bit delayed heading up to Boston next. We're going to be boarding in the next like 10 minutes or so. We're delayed for haze and smoke in the Boston area. The Canadian wildfires have officially started to drift over towards the East Coast and towards Boston. I'm sure the air quality is going to be a little bit lower. But yeah, I get home relatively early today. One more flight, a little over an hour in flight between here and Boston. And then I'll be home and able to relax. So I'll throw it back to you. Thanks for running in that, Bill. Everybody have a good one. KJ7WQI. Alright, thank you, Matt. And thank you for checking in from the airport. Glad you weren't boarding yet. So smoke drifting in from Canada. I think we have some of that here also, but we're generating our own fires too. Alright, and once you get through all of that, I'll get home. And home is always a great goal, isn't it? I think about that one. I look at the freeway at rush hour. Everybody is headed home. And that's where you go. That's where comfort is. Alright, thank you, ma'am. This is the 9 o'clock net for a Tuesday morning. This is W7VAS for Jenkins, please. Kilo Indigo 7 Romeo Yankee Whiskey David with a recheck. Alright, yeah, David, go ahead. Okay, thank you. I have two things here. I'm looking into the CTCSS on the computer to figure out why it might delay. It's not really a PL tone, but there might be something similar. Also, I'm not sure maybe you or someone can clarify, please. When you transmit and the repeater transmits out, and then you finish and I can hear you unkey, there's another moment of, it sounds like the channel is being used. The channel frequency is active if not carrying a strong signal. So am I supposed to wait until that drops, which can be a few seconds? Or should I, this delay that we're emphasizing now to make this effective, even if I have a setting I need to update, should I key and then delay? And so I've been trying to do a combination of both. That's the one. The other thing for our new friend from Rockaway, New York, I heard you mention the 9 a.m. net and the 9 p.m. net, and now for a few years we've been having a noon o'clock net every day. And that's, I think, we're hundreds and hundreds for a few years now, consecutive. And so just to pass on a little bit further, emphasize what you were saying. It's a strong community of people just checking in, saying hi, coming and going, and updating on useful information here and there. So that's kind of a question, or sharing my exploration points on the radio transmit issue, and then also emphasizing the value of the community. Thank you for running the net today and everyone else who regularly for years and years and years, decades now for the 9 o'clocks and years now for the 12 o'clock noon net. And then we do the weekends, of course, like this coming weekend onsite, kind of get-togethers for the noon net. Alright, that's going to be it, KI7 RYW. This is repeater station Kilo Kilo 7, November Quebec November. Alright, thank you David. And, yeah, well I was talking about the 9 o'clock net history of the 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. But yes, you're right, the noon net that Jack started and I guess still runs, and that's the same concept. I'm always doing something else at noon and I miss that net, but I know it exists. I suppose if I were active with it I would think about it more. Okay, thank you. Oh, and your other question. No, you don't have to wait for it to drop out at all, but what you do need to wait for is the courtesy tone. And the, you know, when I stop transmitting here it'll pause a beep and then you'll hear the beep. Once you hear the courtesy tone, the beep, then the channel is clear for you to step in. Um, yeah, that courtesy beep lets you know that the calendar is reset, basically. Okay, this is the 9 o'clock net. More check-ins, please. Whiskey Quebec 7 Hotel, this is James. Good morning, James. WQ 7H. And next, please. Alpha, Bravo 6. Mike, Bravo. Morning, Jeff. AB 6. Mike, Bravo. Good morning everyone. Good morning Michael. I hope the Bigfoot event goes off well. I hope you have good weather, which is to say not hot, but not rainy. And don't burn. Don't burn. No, no. I don't know if he's listening, but I do want to thank Gregor. And I forget his call. What is his call? Where are you? I wrote it down somewhere. Anyway, I was having some problems running a shell script to reinstall some software. And I had an apprenthese in the wrong spot. It was just like, it was, yeah. It was just on the wrong side of another character. And so he asked me what my error was, so I just sent him the line that the error was on that I couldn't see. I was blind and I couldn't see. And so I sent it to him and he, like, you know, five seconds later, oh, parent is in the wrong spot. I'm going, oh, yeah, you're right. So I moved it and by golly, if that didn't solve the problem, I said, well, you know, it's always good to have the good eyes people. So good on Gregor. And we thank you. Because I don't know why. I mean, it's like, and I went back to look at the original source. It's like, how did I do that? I mean, it's like I copied for Beta. I just lifted it right off. Oh, well. Crazy, crazy. But I love doing that stuff because it keeps my brain engaged. That was good. Anyway, I hope everyone has a wonderful day. I got to do some banking here this morning or the bank is going to thrash me. And there you go. That's what I'm up to. I'm going to go to vetco tomorrow. I need a quarter inch plug. A little, not a, three, what is it? It's not the, it used to be, you know, you used to use those quarter inch audio jacks and then it became the micro version. And that's right for my CW paddle. Cause that's what the new radio wants. It doesn't take the ginormous audio plug. The other one, that's what I need for my paddle. Get one of those. And then I'll be off to the fruit market. But that's for tomorrow. Today I'm home. Yay. So anyway, everyone have a great day. It's great skies now, but we might get some sunshine. Maybe. We might get some rain. Be well, be safe, don't burn. And because I'm learning a new radio, RTFM everyone. WQ7H back to Bothellville. All right. Thank you, James. Well, you covered, covered a lot of topic and the, uh, getting the, uh, the net warmed up for the day. All right. This is W7VAS with the nine o'clock net. So why, why is it that a paddle or a key is a quarter inch jack? Um, headphones used to be quarter inch and now they're, they're eighth inch or whatever size that is. And, uh, that, uh, that took a long time coming, but, uh, modern, modern radio, um, like mine here is a quarter inch jack on the back. Um, two of them, I guess, one for a paddle, one for a key. Anyway, strange. Let's see, what would you call that? Um, history, certainly. Tradition, that's the word. Okay. Um, thank you, James. And down to Prineville, KD7, Papa Whiskey Bravo. Morning, Dave. Good morning, Bill on the net. Hey, great to hear you this morning. And, uh, yeah, kind of Karen there, of course. And let's see, uh, well, we got a starting to be sunny kind of day. Kind of started out kind of cloudy, but, uh, things are clearing off. We're supposed to be up in about 76 or 77 this afternoon for a high. So actually a pretty nice day shaping up here in the high desert. Eq is down at two. And so, yeah, it's really pleasant. Um, let's see, Sam's down in bed this morning. She's off doing a site survey for work. And that one of the, whatever the hospital or, uh, some kind of a facility that she's installing in there. And any rate, um, so, yeah, she's off. Um, I've got a bunch of little things to do and some shopping to do. And then it's into the shop and get some work done on some guitars. And, uh, I got a couple of rocks I'm cutting. They're kind of fun. They're landscape Jasper type material and kind of fun to see what's in these things. Because you never know when you cut it open. So kind of fun to play with that. And, uh, other than that, um, just kind of hanging out. So there you go. Well, I'll say 73. So now I keep it kind of short and thanks for doing the net and I'll turn it back. Katie seven Papa whiskey. Bravo, Dave, the high desert pirate radio. All right. Thank you, Dave. And, uh, you know, James said something that about, uh, keep keeping your brain active. And I know you do with all the stuff that you got going on. I, uh, I can't believe you're doing, uh, doing nothing. Yeah, that's interesting. And apparently it's been proven in the medical field that keeping the brain active keeps things like dementia at bay. All right. So doing a site survey. And, uh, that's a, that's a good thing to do before you start installing big equipment, like, like she, uh, sells. And, uh, that was fascinating when we got together a few years ago when she was describing that stuff. And that was, uh, yeah, fascinating. And I see that system. I don't know if there are competitors or if it's just that one company that makes it, but I see systems like that, um, in various places. All right. This is the nine o'clock for a Thursday morning for Jenkins, please. All star note. Six, two, two, two located in Shelton, Washington morning tree. Um, KG seven Fox kilo Bravo. Get behind the curve. Good morning Bill and hi to Karen and boys, well morning, it's working, holy cow. Yeah, sorry I didn't jump in right after Bill there, I was sidetracked and didn't get to the mic and talk. Alright, well hey, great to hear everyone this morning, got a hot day today, we're already at 80 degrees and headed up to 97, 98 today. So another hot day here, but then tomorrow things start to cool off a little bit, which is nice because we'll be on the road tomorrow headed to Seattle, so there you go. And then from there points north we're going up to the Sunshine Coast and BC, so there you go. Anyway, let's see, going on today I've got to get the truck down the bend, I'm having the service done on it before we do the road trip. So, yeah I've got to be in bend about 11, it's about an hour drive there, and I was hoping maybe I could do some running around, there's some neat little stores nearby where the Toyota dealer is here. But I'm not going to be wandering around out there in 100 degree weather, sorry, it's not happening. So I guess I'm going to take a book and hang out and just read and air conditioning. Anyway, let's see, got that going, slowly getting things together for the trip, and we'll be gone about a week. So, yeah, I'll check in if I can, I don't know if I'm going to be able to get in on Echo Link or not, we'll have to wait and see what happens with that. And with the internet services like where we're going to be staying, up in the little town of Egmont, so that'll be curious. Sometimes I can check in from there and sometimes I can't, so we'll see. But I will also be on the Chemeus repeater up in BC, which is kind of a neat, very active and fun repeater to get into some of their nets, so we'll have to see what happens. With that I'll say 73's and thanks for doing the net this morning, and hopefully you'll get some more takers and things will pick up a little bit as people wake up to get their coffee. Well, jitters is the case maybe. Back to you, Bill. Catch you later. Hi, everybody. K-7, Papa Whiskey Bravo, Dave, the High Desert Pirate Radio. Alright, thank you, Dave. Well, that sounds like a fun trip, and the Chemeus repeater, I've heard of that. Why? Why? I, uh, maybe I've been up in that area or something. Anyway, well, have a wonderful trip. Sunshine Coast, and yeah, you'll probably have lots of sunshine. Well, at almost 100 degrees down there, I hope it's, well, you said it was going to be a little bit cooler tomorrow, but for a drive down the bend and, uh, you know, hang out in air conditioning. That surprised me that time I made the drive from your place down to, uh, down the Sun River, actually. That was a lot longer drive than it seemed like it should be. That was kind of weird. Alright. Thanks, Dave. You and Sam have a great trip. 3-C-5, W-F-H. Good morning, Bill. Hey, good morning, YouTube. Bill and the resident head out there waving a hand. It's, uh, Pirate Radio Dave. I hope you guys have a, uh, comfortable drive, uh, all the way up and all the way back, uh, able to keep cool some kind of way. Alright. Well, let's see. What do we have here? 72 currently, Bill, over here in Kingston and climbing fast. Uh, that's okay. This is, uh, I think going to be the peak for the week, uh, temperature wise, and then we start to go to the other direction, which we'll all be glad to have that. Let's see, uh, already delivered two bags, Ziploc bags of, uh, green beans to the neighbors this morning, and, uh, boy, the green beans came in. Oh, yes, they did this year. I think we've hit the peak on the harvest with those guys. So the next, uh, little item we have and look forward to is the corn. Yeah, corn's making. So, uh, you know, you try to stagger these things when you plant them, but it seems like everything comes in at the same time. Well, not everything, but that particular item, you'll get an abundance of it, so time to hand off to others. Uh, let's see. We've got a pretty sunny spot here in a chunk of our, uh, property, so it's worked out well. Uh, Bill, thanks for picking her up one more time. I hope it picks up, uh, with a few more check-ins. Uh, one more item. You missed a fantastic, uh, uh, rain or shine, and, uh, with the ice cream and all the, uh, you know, just the good chit-chat. It was fun. So, uh, if you can, catch, uh, maybe the next one while the weather's good. Back to you there, young man. KC5WFH. Bill, can you set me up? This is repeater station Kilo Kilo 7. Okay. Uh, thank you, Bill. 100% copy there. Um, but, uh, yeah. Well, it is the peak temperature, uh, certainly in the forecast for this week, and, uh, helping plant with pests. I don't like it this hot, and, uh, I know others do. Well, very good. Thanks, Bill. I knew, uh, you have a, uh, great day. Oh, you were talking about everything coming, uh, coming ripe at the same time. Um, and I, my theory, like I knew anything about it, um, it's, uh, has to do with, uh, with the warmth and the sun. Uh, everything's gonna grow at once with the warmth, and, uh, so, yeah, it's, uh, it's all gonna come in at the same time. All right. Yeah, we've got 72 degrees here at Deer Lake already, but it's smoky today. We've got an air quality index of 130. And just stepped outside, ooh, it is smelling really strong of smoke, so not much wind either. A little bit more wind today, the last couple of days have been just really, really stagnant here. But today at least there's a little bit of ripple on the lake, so maybe blow this stuff out of here. But those two or three big fires up at the north end of Stevens County here are really wreaking havoc on the air quality down here. Yesterday, I was flying around on mostly 20 meters, worked, I don't know, maybe four or five parks on the air. And then just for the giggles of it, it was kind of slowing down on 20, I kind of poked around some of the other bands and I don't spend a whole lot of time on the new, I call them the new work bands. But I got on 17, there were just only three stations on 17 meters, a CW station and a single sideband station and I was able to work. It's my very first contact ever on 17 meters. So that was fun. But there was another station on there working FT8. It's called W7VAS. Anyway, I hope you had fun though, Bill. I did see you on there, but I don't do FT8, so I couldn't even begin to try and work here. Anyway, that's what's happening here. So everybody have a good one. That was very copyable. A little bit of background noise which just indicates that you're in a fairly weak area, not hitting the repeater real well, but solidly copyable as I said. So thank you much. Got your license a week ago. I'm trying different things. Boy, that's fantastic. So many people get their license and then don't do anything. So I'm proud of you even though I don't know you. I'm proud of you for getting on the air and experimenting and seeing what all is available. And this hobby has so many facets and so fascinating. All right, thank you David. Good on F-T-8 since its very first week on the air. And I really don't think it's a Q-R-P mode. It is a weak signal mode, but it's not Q-R-P. And I kind of miss some park operators because they're running power that's too low for their particular conditions. So I'm glad that you're running power on F-T-8. I have a Yezu F-T-897 and I have lithium batteries for it and it can run 20 watts, but I'm thinking that I might need to run more power. And I also have a buddy pole which works best if I set it up as a ground plane with resonant radials. I get the best luck with that. As a matter of fact, I worked into the Indian Ocean using the buddy pole, running 100 watts. The darn antenna can work in the right spot. Anyway, thanks a lot, Bill.
