Michael in Yukon, where it's 18 degrees Charlie. It's at around 58 degrees foxtrot, I believe. The, uh, thanks for taking my check and thanks for being there. You sounded good here, good to hear everyone. Working away on the preparatory list for a possible trip out of town tomorrow. Waiting to hear from a different contractor to see if they have whatever they need to justify their trip or do the work. I don't know, anyway, so we're waiting here. So I'm getting ready for that, maybe, or something else, perhaps. A little bit of mystery. This pay had a nice strategic planning session with some members of the local club here. Gosh, it went well. It was session number one. We'd reached out to the membership for some input ahead of time. Always nice to receive more, but we got some, so that's good. We met with those things in consideration and reviewed the last strategic planning. Had a lot of good conversations. Very enlightening, let's say. And I'm still fairly new to the club in general. For 50 years next year, so there's a lot to know here. It was a good one. Well, that's all I got for the moment. How are you doing, Brian? I'm back to you from Victor Yankee 1 Mike Gulls here. Big radio wave to all 73 friends from VY1 MGS. Hey, good stuff. I'm glad that you're getting active with that local club there. PSRG is also at 50 years. We've been doing the 9 o'clock nets for over 30 years. I know that. But yeah, good stuff and getting local there and stuff. It would probably drive me nuts to not know if I was actually going on a trip the next day. You're packed up, but then you're like, wait, am I going? Anyway, sounds like you're in good spirits about that and ready for whatever happens there. So I'm bringing HT with you if you're going on a trip and stuff. Have a great time, be safe, and we will catch you down the log here. Oh, and then how's Brian doing? I'll give a report after this round. I didn't get one yet. Try to keep things moving. Last on this round, Sebastian, how are you tonight? Whiskey Alpha 7 Echo Victor Zulu. Please give us a report. Hey, Brian and Nets. This is Sebastian, WA7EZ, transmitting from Seattle. I had a great day today. Got up and rode the e-bike over to Green Lake and met everyone for the Ice Cream Social. It was great to see everyone and chat about Ham Radio. And I had a Snickers ice cream bar, so can't complain about that. After the Ice Cream Social, my wife, Peng, and I met Robert and Cammie for lunch, so that was fun. Get caught up while they were up here in Seattle. And after that, I just kind of hung out at home and I finished building an antenna I've been working on for a while. And I was wondering if maybe I could test it out. So right now I am transmitting on my little rubber ducky and I would like to switch to this new antenna. And maybe you could tell me what my stats look like. This is the first time. First contact. I'm switching right now. This is repeater station Kilo Kilo 7 November Quebec November. This is WA7EBZ located in Shawna A and main DBJ2 antenna designed by Ed Fong. It sounded good on the receive and I'm curious if it sounds good on the transmit. I will send it back to you, Brian. This is Sebastian WA7EBZ. I think I already said that. And 7-3 everybody. Have a good night. Bye. Well hey Sebastian. Good news. That new antenna is working very well. Full quieting there. I kind of looked up at the voter scope and you're hitting way more of the receiving stations as you were using that second antenna. And it was cleaner sounding. The first antenna sounded good. No problems. But it was actually bouncing between a couple of the repeaters. Sorry the receiving stations. And that one you were lighting up almost all of them. Probably even reduce your power with that newer antenna there. So whatever you got going on there it is more than adequate and I would either vote. So I guess I will. Yeah use that new antenna. It's totally making the trek. No problem there. And the proof is in the pudding there on the voter scope. So yeah when you get a chance play with that antenna. Do a little back and forth. Watch the voter scope. But yeah definitely stick with that new antenna there. Good stuff and I'm glad you're able to get that Snickers bar and head over to the Raider shiny net. And have a little extra time with Robert and that's always a good time there. Thanks for that Sebastian. And we will catch you down the log. I am Brian. K.E. 7 K's at H. This is a 9 o'clock net on the PS RG repeater in Seattle Washington. Let me reset. I'll take a quick turn myself. Brian I'm up in Marysville Washington. It's my QTH. We're not able to make the rain or shine net today. I've got my mother in law coming into town here and so much other stuff to do. I said yes to a gig with a cover band. And I guess it's a group where they actually have a large consortium of people and musicians. And it's never the exact same musicians but they're all extremely high caliber. And basically the group gets hired to do gigs and then they throw together all these different band members. And so they send out some MP3s and all this stuff of even kind of like arrangements of sorts or shortening of songs different medley type things even of some different popular tunes. And so basically I got emailed a drop box of 5 gigabytes worth of music and stuff and a very very very long set list. And I guess for this wedding they have specifically wanted some more country music along with some pop music. So I got the phone call from the drummer of the country band that I had played with some years ago and asked if I wanted to do this. And he asked me about a year ago and I almost forgot about it but it was on my calendar. So anyway that's actually coming up Saturday. It's over, I don't know how you say it, like Roach? R-O-C-H? It's like right on the tip of one of the islands. It's practically the northern most you can get before Canada. It's still in Washington state so we'll be taking a ferry over there Saturday morning and then we play until after 11 o'clock p.m. They're providing a hotel room and I don't think we can even get a ferry home that late so I'd be heading back Sunday morning. Let me reset. So I would not be able to make that, what is it, the ham, the ham, wait a minute, what do you call it? Swap meat over at the Shoreline Community College that morning there. So basically today we were cleaning up and doing a bunch of stuff, had to make a dump run and our recycling only gets picked up every other week. We always have too much so we just take our boxes there. I basically spent many many hours today going through music and learning and especially all of the songs that will be in the set list that are specifically country songs and have specific fiddle parts that people will recognize. I need to make sure that I can nail those 100%. In addition to some of the pop songs I'm like well what do I do during these and is there something interesting to do without ruining the original or making it country per se but how do I add to this song. Just some of their pop songs, I won't name them but anyway so I spent a lot of time today practicing and had to get all of that done. I'm going to have a long work week this week so I knew I wouldn't have a ton of time to prepare for this gig that's coming Saturday there. So that's my excuse for not making the ice cream social but hopefully I can make an event here. Maybe if we get another waffle night or something, although those might be jinxed, I'm not sure. Anyway, with that I'll send it back to myself, KE7KZH. Alright, that said, again I am Brian KE7KZH. This is the 9 o'clock net on the PSRG repeater in Seattle, Washington. Let's see if we have any other new check-ins or rechecks tonight. Please come ahead. K07 Tango November Papa Troy. Hey there's Troy, K7TNP. You're on the list. More stations please. Four below flight definition, K7TNP, right wing, right wing, move up. Two stations in there, DY9IVZ and then also 4G1NYS. More stations please. K9BC Brutsand, K9 and LR Megan. Hey there they are. I wondered if you showed up. Alright, K9BC Bruts, K9 and LR Megan. You're on the list. More stations, come ahead. Kilo Kilo 7, Quebec Echo Sierra, Justin with an I.O. Thanks for running it out Brian. And thank you for stopping by tonight Justin. KK7QES, you have a good one there. More stations for the 9 o'clock net, come ahead."},{"callsign_confidence":1.0,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-08-10T10:48:22+00:00","id":15818,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":15817,"text":" Nothing hurt. Okay, in that group I had VA7SL Scott with a recheck. I'll go to you right away. You'll be first. I also had VA3CDVCal, VE4JMP Mark, VE4AAP, uh, Trevor, VE4CA, Rob, VE7LWS, uh, Larry, VE4GWN, Gwen, VY1MGS Mike, VE4JCJ, John, and, uh, I think Victor Echo 7 Whiskey Fox was in there as well. So, uh, a large group here, loads of people in, in, uh, Mandotoba, but, uh, Scott, first VA7SL. Go ahead. VA7SL. Um, well, let's take this. We'll walk further out in the world. Why for this be a confirmed contact? Is this working? Is this working? Chris, okay. Yeah, you do have some sort of periodic noise with you. I'm not sure what that is, but, uh, we are able to copy. Yeah, I think it's other side of the show handheld is open. Sorry about that. I can't hear you. You can hear me there, secondly. Of course, it happens now. So, back in the 90s, I used to work SAP, and, uh, I'd say my furthest contact was Oscar 13 at Paraje, 40,000 kilometers away. I've heard that move out, so that would be further, but, um, that would be really my furthest out, but, gee, 40,000 kilometers. To this day, that is the coolest thing I've ever done this hobby, was hearing your signal bounce back off a satellite about a second later. That was fun. And, as far as receiving, I participated in a lot of hamster, but, um, I participated in the 90s. It was a Mars probe. Uh, it was on its way to Mars. It was about 500 million kilometers away from Earth, I believe, something in that range. And they had an experiment for amateurs to see if they could receive it. It was a beacon. And with dual boomers, 17 element, 2 meter, uh, no, sorry, UHF antennas and boomers, actually 33, double 33 element antennas and digital signal processing, they copied the beacon, and you had to send a recording. We didn't have, you know, UHF drives, but we had a recording, a super hard recording, I just had the tape recorded, I don't remember, but, um, we recorded it and sent it back for confirmation to usl. So, uh, that was pretty cool. Um, it was there. Scott, you definitely win for, uh, furthest received signal, absolutely. And, uh, that's a great satellite contact, too, going that far. I mean, I've heard myself come back from the ISS FM repeater when it's overhead, but that's, you know, that's only a few hundred kilometers. That's not 40,000. Uh, great stuff, Scott. Thanks for that. Boy, uh, that raises the bar here. Uh, Victor Echo 4, Juliet, oh no, sorry, who is first. Victor Echo 7, Whiskey Fox, you're up first, welcome to the net."},{"callsign_confidence":0.94,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-08-10T22:21:59+00:00","id":16032,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":16031,"text":" Two years back we got this beautiful, it said like eight or nine seats in a duck town sectional. And it was really quite nice except for one thing, it took up just all of our living room to the point that it's just that narrow walkways to get in and out. And it kind of blocked off, you know, it's open, but that kind of closed off. And so we decided to get rid of half of it and I set about creating a plan to extract it out of there and then move another piece to where the one that we were moving was going to be gone. And it was just very heavy, so I brought, took out the old reciprocal saw and cut that sucker down into eight individual liftable pieces and that was quite fulfilling. So anyway, that's all loaded in my trailer and it's going to make it run to the dump tomorrow probably. Let me pause. And on Friday we've been waiting for it. We had gotten a 3D printer that's called an Ender 3 Pro that's kind of just a basic one and that got us totally addicted into it. And then we got another model called an Anycubic Cobra S1 and that kind of failed within the first day or so and it was a panda clone. Panda is like the Cadillac of them all. And we set that back and on Friday received delivery of our new Panda Labs P1S. And it's just a phenomenal printer. It's twelve times faster than the old one that we had. And we're just having so much fun with it. I've got probably 200 hours worth of printing to do just to make some cool accessories for the P1S. And so we're having a riot doing all those things and picking them out and then building them and that's consuming my time. So that's all I've got. It's Magoo, Kilo Kilo 7s and the Bubba Juliet. Back to Ned. I was just trying to picture you hacking the sectional into eight pieces like they're methodically loading it up. Yeah, good on you. Sounds like a lot of work there but probably satisfying there. And yeah, congrats on that new 3D printer. It sounds like you did get the Cadillac of sorts. So like the other one crapped out on you very quickly there. So have fun with all that 3D printing. Definitely want to see some of the stuff that you're making there. So very cool. Thanks for the check in. We'll catch you down a lot. Alright, three more on this round. I am Brian, KE7KZH. This is the 9 o'clock net on the PSRG repeater in Seattle, Washington. Dean, you're going to be up next. KG7ODB. How are you tonight, Dean? Please give us a report. Good evening Brian and everybody on the net. This is Dean, KG7ODB. Doing well tonight. It was a nice day today. Went over to the Rain or Shine at, or I should say the Ice Cream Social at Green Lake. And I saw a lot of people there. As usual, I don't want to mention everybody's name because I know I'll forget somebody. But I did want to mention John KG7WOI was there. And that was a great thing because there were a number of people. Cami had never met him before. So that was really exciting. But also, so if you ever check into the Saturday morning net, there's always this ongoing thing where John always checks in late in the net, like right around 10-10. And sometimes it's like clockwork. And so the interesting thing is apparently, Theresa and Dana met John today for the very first time. Even though he's been this integral part of their net for years. So anyway, it's always good to see him. And also of course all the other people. One person who wasn't there was Sean, who checked in earlier. KJ70XM. And the problem was, so I stopped off and bought donuts for everybody. Well, the PSRT paid for them. But I always get extra maple bars because that's kind of the humorous mnemonic that came out of Sean's call sign. So there were all these extra maple bars. But I think they were well consumed. So they didn't go to waste. But anyway, I don't really have too much more to add. But yeah, maybe I'll see you at the next one. The next one, really, the antique radio show is almost a rain or shine. So it's like Cammie and Robert are doing their net. And I think Jack's going to be there. So you got the, I don't know, the pieces. So anyway, KJ70DB, back to that. Oh, we should put that on the announcement there that the next, that rain or shine over at Shoreline Community College, August 17th, Sunday. Actually, I already know I will not be able to be there. I have a gig up on one of the islands this weekend. And it's going to be an overnighter. There's no way I'll make the ferry back in time for that. But that does sound like a good time there. So hey, glad to be able to meet John, KJ70WOI. I met him over a decade ago. I know that. But I'm not sure if I've seen him since. So anyway, glad KJ70WOI was there. And it sounds like it was a fun time at the rain or shine ice cream social event there. So very cool. And we'll see each other soon there, Dean. But hey, thanks for the check in. And you have a good night there. All right. Two more on this round. Next up, Michael up in Yukon. So I got to ask, you know, when it's cold all the time, do you eat as much ice cream as the rest of us? How goes that? Michael, Victor Yankee One, Mike Golf Sierra, how are you? He wants to watch the Dodgers. That's baseball, of course, and it sounds like this Seahawks is the football game. I guess, right, football's starting up now. I don't know exactly when they do it, but that sounds about right, right? I think the Super Bowl is usually in February timeframe. I don't know. At any rate, it sounds super cool. I was just in Poles Bowl not too long ago, probably within the last month. I always love visiting there. Yeah, I mentioned it before. There was a new restaurant that we went into over there, kind of a French chocolate deli and chocolate shop kind of place. Kind of interesting. Had a really, really wonderful sandwich there. I don't own stock in them, just to let everyone know, but I love a good sandwich. Anyway, John, good to hear from you. Enjoy that Seahawks game. Let's see here. I saw VY1MGS ping the machine. He usually checks in about this time, so let's see if he's out there. VY1MGS, Michael in Whitehorse, are you listening in? This is repeater station kilo kilo seven, November, Quebec, November. One MGS returning, pinging the machine. Located in Shelton, Washington. Picking me up there. Thank you so much. Good to hear, everyone. Nice to see you. In Whitehorse here, it's 22 degrees Charlie and looks like we're heading for a high of 25 degrees. Charlie, 22 is, what is that, 44, 30, 74 about. Yeah, 74. Maybe headed to 80. Heck of a nice day. Just taking my head outside from the shop. Off the phone, Tom. Car shadows. The lawn mowers are running. I had a good breakfast at A&W. My wife, who is also an operator this year, joined us. That was nice. Chatting. There was, I don't know, 12, 14, probably, I think 16 of us all together there, from what I saw. I was there a bit later, about a quarter after nine or something in the morning. But it was good. Making some plans. We're going to try and hit a repeater in kind of like, well, between border crossings, let's say, between Canada and Alaska. There's a repeater installation we have up there that is not cooperating and we would very much like it for the race coming up in September 6th, I believe, 6th and 6th, Friday, Saturday, the Klondike Road Relay and our Econ Amateur Radio Association will be helping to provide some support and communications and tech and safety. Looking forward to that. Yeah, we're going to see if we can get to this repeater next week. We got contingency plans. That, well, makes it, you know, put the effort in. Paint in the house, we got scaffolds set up right now. Haven't got to the paint yet. I don't know if it's going to happen this year. I'm hoping it will. They haven't given up and the weather is still cooperating. We'll carry on, Brayden. Kurt, how are you doing today? Thanks for doing the net. Sounding good in Whitehorse. Back to you for victory. I have been there. We were boating upstream from there. Actually at the Loos Lake, we put in at the Loos Lake control structure which is part of water control for that particular dam. And the water is running high. The control gates are open. The water is running high. I understand Yukon Energy was up for water licensing this year and I haven't heard the results of that yet if it has gone through. So I think they had it expired earlier this year and had to have control gates wide open actually. So hopefully get on that because hydrology for water energy production is an amazing job. I'd hate to be, I'd hate that I'm not in my liability bubble, the Yukon Energy hydrologist, but it's got to be a very interesting job. Yes, definitely been to the dam. Thanks for asking. Thank you, Jack from VY1 MGS."},{"callsign_confidence":0.98,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-08-27T12:55:08+00:00","id":25970,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":25969,"text":" Oh yes indeed, Parmesan is just fabulous cheese isn't it? Alright, fantastic. Hey Rich, you see I had a photo, have a great day. Yes indeed, I've been clipping and chipping and doing all kinds of crazy things in the yard and in the garden in the back and I have two clippers now, hand clippers, a bypass type. And they're both so gummed up with stuff and I had to buy a new Fiskars bypass and this thing is a beast, this thing is great, I'm really happy with it. So anyway, Fiskars, they make good scissors and clippers and all kinds of stuff. Alright, thank you very much Rich, you have a great afternoon. Kevin dropped by with an I.O. Kevin, thank you so much. Let's head right up to Yukon, Canada and pick it up with Michael VY1 MGS in Whitehorse.
