We were at the Trans Canada Trail, Charlie Alpha 5082, Little John Hillside Park, and we managed to get a PODA contact in Belgium. Excellent, and hey, thanks for activating. That's great. Yeah, nothing like what's going on here. It's going to be a beautiful day. Guys are going to take my bill for a birthday tonight. They're going to support their birthday dinner for Mom. So there you go, Bill. Other than that, how much else? I'll turn it back to you, Bill, so we can get over to the worldwide friendship. So everybody have a great day and a great week coming up. So, oh yeah, one thing for dear that I've been watching. I'm going to go in and watch a baseball game. Here's a baseball game going on between your brother and Nova Scotia right now and the game from St. John's. So I'm going to go watch that. So with that, back to you, Bill. Have a great day and a great week. Well, Peter, pay sure to wish your mom a happy birthday from all of us here at the Junior Up In Met. And that does draw the Junior Up In to conclusion. Be aware that when we join the worldwide friendship net, it is in process. Wait for their net control operator to call for new check-ins before throwing out your call sign. It makes everything smoother, and it makes them happy, and it makes us happy. But please do stick around and join the worldwide friendship net. I'm sure they'd love to hear from you. Hi, this is N9OFU calling the call up on the net to a close. And I'm going to let Daryl reconnect us to the worldwide friendship net on the Michigan conference. And we'll catch you out here tomorrow morning, bright and early. See you then. Welcome to the Michigan conference number 96170, located in Western Michigan. Hey, Daryl, it's short time, so I'll move you to the top of the list. And Mel, PB7PVW made that route. Hello there with a gale, our short timer, P0ECK. Good morning. Well, good morning, everybody. Just stopping in to say hello. We are in Houston. I'm at a conference. But just wanted to send greetings and hope everybody has a wonderful day. Talk to you all later. K0ECK, back to you. All right there, gale. I hope you get everything out of the conference there. And enjoy your time in Houston. Thanks for taking time out of your day while you're traveling to be with us here on the net. All right, I'll go to the top of the list there with Joe, KK7Z. Good morning there, Joe. Hey, good morning, Adriana. Everybody on the net here on Las Vegas. And I just got back from 45 miles on the bike. It was nice, a little warm. 88 degrees when I left the house. But yeah, it was nice. Nice morning. I learned a little heat. Little bit of wind, not too much. And hi, Darrell. Good morning, Darrell. He just sent me a text. So if you could put Darrell on the list there, V01UKZ. We appreciate that. What else did I get to report? Nothing really. I don't know what I'm going to do today. I'm feeling kind of worn out. I didn't have the fastest ride in the world. Neither was my one a few days ago. You know, I had a couple of weeks there where I was like doing record times by myself. I'm like, what the heck is going on? Every ride I'm going out there, I'm going faster and faster and faster. I don't know, a little struggle today. But hey, you know what? It's not how far you go or how long you ride. It's as long as you ride or do whatever you're doing. So there you go. Anyway, I'm just here in the background. And I'll send it back to you. So Joe, I'll ask you to use KK7Z next minute. All right, there, Joe. Thanks for letting me know about Darryl V01. You can see I've added you to the list here. And yeah, sounds like you had a great bicycle ride, a little bit warm there. But good job on getting out there and doing that. So do you have a good rest of your Sunday there, Joe? And great hearing from you this morning. All right, next on my list, I've got Glenn K6 TKR. Good morning, Glenn. Good morning, Joe. Good morning, Gina. Everybody else on the net. And Gina, it's always nice to be on your debt here on a Sunday morning. I had a great day out at the hangar. Had a full day out there. Couple of things. The hangars are really huge. It housed a C-130 aircraft. And so the kind of the shady side of the hangar was nice and cool. The sunny side of the hangar was blazing hot and humid. And unfortunately, that's where our Jenny Assembly shop is. And yeah, it was just a kind of a sweaty, hot, hot day. So I pulled in some large fans so that the students just wouldn't melt away while they were working. And that helped quite a bit. But they got a lot done. And we had about 20 new students that came in that are replacing those that graduated. So they were getting all familiar with the process and getting to know their teams and work with them. They fit right in. It was just absolutely perfect. So anyway, today is going to be a bit more relaxing. We're going to head off to church here in a couple hours. And then usually on Sunday, we'll find a place to grab a quick lunch together as a family and make a nice day of it. So with that, Glenn and Irvine, K6TKR back in there. This is repeater station kilo kilo. I'm sure those students appreciated having to leave those fans in there. It's so good at summertime a bit roasting in those giant hangers. So at least they've got a space to work on their projects and undercover there. But yeah, the heat can be a problem. We were at the county fair yesterday. And they had the huge mobile fans in all the animal barns. And some of them had misters and moistures, things built into them. So they're a little cooler than a regular fan. But yeah, summertime and then having to work in the heat inside of a closed building. So I'm sure again, your students appreciated that. And you got a new round of excited kids there to help out on the project. So good job there, Glenn. Enjoy your Sunday. And thanks for taking time to be with us today. All right, next on the list I've got Rosie and Glenn, VE4YYL and VE4GWN. Good morning. Kilo, Dada, 7G, Z, this is Victor, Akafoya, and Lima. Good morning, Gina. And good morning to the lovebirds. And but out there and oh, but that's for sure. If you could have won one on that one, that would have been a nice party. That's for sure. Wow. $30,000. Yeah. I would love that too. Hey, we could have gotten to get together. That's for sure. So we would have had a big party. Oh, wow. Yeah. However, it didn't happen. So oh, well, maybe one day. You never know. And hello to everyone else on the frequency. So not too much that. And I will pass the mic over to my lovely husband. Bye."},{"callsign_confidence":1.0,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-08-10T10:48:22+00:00","id":15818,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":15817,"text":" Nothing hurt. Okay, in that group I had VA7SL Scott with a recheck. I'll go to you right away. You'll be first. I also had VA3CDVCal, VE4JMP Mark, VE4AAP, uh, Trevor, VE4CA, Rob, VE7LWS, uh, Larry, VE4GWN, Gwen, VY1MGS Mike, VE4JCJ, John, and, uh, I think Victor Echo 7 Whiskey Fox was in there as well. So, uh, a large group here, loads of people in, in, uh, Mandotoba, but, uh, Scott, first VA7SL. Go ahead. VA7SL. Um, well, let's take this. We'll walk further out in the world. Why for this be a confirmed contact? Is this working? Is this working? Chris, okay. Yeah, you do have some sort of periodic noise with you. I'm not sure what that is, but, uh, we are able to copy. Yeah, I think it's other side of the show handheld is open. Sorry about that. I can't hear you. You can hear me there, secondly. Of course, it happens now. So, back in the 90s, I used to work SAP, and, uh, I'd say my furthest contact was Oscar 13 at Paraje, 40,000 kilometers away. I've heard that move out, so that would be further, but, um, that would be really my furthest out, but, gee, 40,000 kilometers. To this day, that is the coolest thing I've ever done this hobby, was hearing your signal bounce back off a satellite about a second later. That was fun. And, as far as receiving, I participated in a lot of hamster, but, um, I participated in the 90s. It was a Mars probe. Uh, it was on its way to Mars. It was about 500 million kilometers away from Earth, I believe, something in that range. And they had an experiment for amateurs to see if they could receive it. It was a beacon. And with dual boomers, 17 element, 2 meter, uh, no, sorry, UHF antennas and boomers, actually 33, double 33 element antennas and digital signal processing, they copied the beacon, and you had to send a recording. We didn't have, you know, UHF drives, but we had a recording, a super hard recording, I just had the tape recorded, I don't remember, but, um, we recorded it and sent it back for confirmation to usl. So, uh, that was pretty cool. Um, it was there. Scott, you definitely win for, uh, furthest received signal, absolutely. And, uh, that's a great satellite contact, too, going that far. I mean, I've heard myself come back from the ISS FM repeater when it's overhead, but that's, you know, that's only a few hundred kilometers. That's not 40,000. Uh, great stuff, Scott. Thanks for that. Boy, uh, that raises the bar here. Uh, Victor Echo 4, Juliet, oh no, sorry, who is first. Victor Echo 7, Whiskey Fox, you're up first, welcome to the net."},{"callsign_confidence":0.98,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-08-09T07:40:19+00:00","id":15415,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":15414,"text":" Alright, yeah, Catherine, get that bucket sealed. Hahahaha! Ahh, no, they really make you tired for Sunday, and all you have to do is just lounge around in the chair, so there you go. Alright, buddy, you take care, we'll say 73 for now. Haha! But yeah, let's move on down here to V4, YYL. Good morning, Rosie, how you doing? On November 8th, Tango Hotel, Juliet, this is Victor Aquafoy and Tango Yma. Good morning, Arthur, and good morning to the lovebirds out there, Gina and Joe and everybody else on this vacancy, you know, we don't want to forget anybody, so nice hearing Cathy on there, that's for sure. So, doing not too bad, I wish that my ankle would be doing better, but however, arthritis is in there, so who knows when that will get better, so we're hoping for the best, but see how things go. Going back to the doctor in September, so however, I passed the mic over to my lovely husband. Good morning, everybody, VE4GWN in a currently sunny Winnipeg, although after lecture calling for 60% chance of thunder showers. You can use the showers, not the thunder, because hopefully the showers, if they go far enough north, will help with the fires, but of course we know what lightning can do. Not much on the schedule today, actually, in about three quarters of an hour, Rosie's got an appointment for a massage, and I'm right behind her, so that's going to finish off the rest of the morning. Tomorrow's a different story, we're going to be going down onto Memorial Boulevard here in Winnipeg to the Peacekeepers Memorial that's there, because today is National Peacekeepers Day in Canada, something a lot of people aren't aware of, and the reason August 9th was chosen is August 9th, 1974, 51 years ago today, nine Canadian passengers and crew were killed with a Syrian ground air missile shot down a Canadian Forces Buffalo aircraft flying UN colors on a routine flight from Ismaili, Egypt to Damascus as part of the United Nations peacekeeping. So even in peacekeeping it can be dangerous, that was the largest single incident, loss of life for Canadians in a peacekeeping mission, notice I said a peacekeeping mission, and that is why the day August 9th was chosen, and I do believe Canada recognized it initially, I want to say 2008, but don't quote me on that. And with that I'm going to say 73 back to net, VE4 GWN in Winnipeg. Thank you very much for that information, I learn something every time somebody gets out of here, I mention something and stuff like that, I didn't know anything about that, but hey, thank you very much for enlightening us. Alright, Rosie and Glenn, you too, have yourselves a great day and enjoy your massage. So with that we'll say 73 to VE4. But Dan let's move on down to KD7WA, good morning Roy. Well good morning Art and all the other hamsters out there on the worldwide friendship net, this is Roy, KD7WA here in Florence, Oregon, about 60 degrees, going to get up to around 70 somewhere in there, beautiful sunny, been pretty nice, 3 days at the coast and no rain, very unusual. Glad I'm over here though, it's going to be 100 degrees I think tomorrow in Salem, so I'll enjoy the 60 degrees that's for sure. Yeah the orvery group, we all went down to Moe's on the waterfront, I had some great fish and chips, and I think Sue had shrimp on a skewer and we had a good time and then came back and sat around the campfire and told lies last night. So yeah that's what's going on in Florence, tomorrow we'll be heading up the road about 90 miles to Nescone for 2 weeks. So that's it here from Florence, Oregon, this is KD7WA back to net control. Well that's the whole fun of it, sitting around the campfire telling all kinds of tall tales and stories and lies and whatever else you can think of. Well I'm glad you're having a great time and hey we will talk at you later, 73 for now. So with that, that brought me down to the bottom of the list, this is the World Wide Touch event, I am November 8th, I'm going to tell you it, you're in neck control for the day, and the name here is R. Del for Romeo Tango and Springfield, Ohio. I am looking for some more jackets so please come in with your call site slowly, infinites and twice, and if you are short down the mobile, let me know and I'll get you to the top of the list. EE4GWN in Atili, Winnipeg. Currently at 46 degrees Fahrenheit. Supposed to go up to a scorching high of 66. Although tomorrow it's back to seasonal norms in the lower... Well, I see by Wednesday actually up to 77 Fahrenheit. So it's getting back to normal. Let's see, where to begin? The different topics. Fishing, barbless. Well, in this province, unless you're a First Nations fishing for substantive, you have to go barbless. So needless to say, whenever I buy fishing hooks, I got to sit there with a pair of pliers and snap off the hooks. Theoretically bent over is good enough, but I sooner make sure it snaps off and then sometimes I'll even take a file and finish that off. Butterflies. Well, there's a town to the southwest here called Suraspanatoba. It's got a museum there. I don't know the full history of the family that lived there, but they've got one room that's got... I don't know how many butterflies and some moths from all over the world that are mounted. Unfortunately, I don't think the room is as climate controlled as it should be. Last time we were there, I think some of them are starting to deteriorate, which is too bad because it is quite the extensive collection. Last weekend, we were at a friend's place, actually a relative of a friend out in the country there, and I seen my first monarch butterfly in years. They used to be very, very common here. There's actually a group that gets together once a year at the Winnipeg Zoo, and they release, I don't know how many different... or how many monarchs, but they release a whole bunch of monarchs I'm not quite sure how and where they're bred, but I don't worry about such things. It's good to know that... I'm going to say wildlife, and it's good to know that these insects are being around. I don't want to see. I can't think of anything else to pass on. You know, yeah, I mean, if you had such a late night, I'm surprised you're checking in at all. It's just, I've had those days where I just cannot check in because I get to sleep so late. So yeah, definitely. You got to take care of yourself and get the rest that you need. So welcome back home. Glad you made it home safe and just, yeah, when it's overcast, it's just going to be a little pokier. So hopefully you get some sunshine soon. And thanks for filling us in on what you do for media, the Fire Stick and YouTube. Yeah, you have to decide for yourself. I mean, if it doesn't bother you that much to have the ads, it's less money, so why not? So anyway, thank you so much both for your check in and have a great rest of your day. Well, it is about time to be closing the Worldwide Friendship Net this morning with 24 check-ins today. I want to thank everyone who checked in or listened in and I hope you have a great rest of your day. This is Keto India 7, Bravo Romeo, Barbara in Independence, Oregon. How you doing, Joyce? Always good to hear you guys. Yeah, well I was down to 66 on my bike ride this morning, so yeah, it was really, really nice. And you know, with somebody like him, I enjoyed watching him, but the whole fact of the matter is for me, it's just like cam radio. If you don't like what you're hearing, turn that off button or switch frequencies. The people that feed into that, it's like if you don't like them, don't watch them. Don't pay attention, but to do the hate and all that. But no, as soon as the FBI announced they were giving up $100,000 to find him, I knew he was done because friends are friends and money is money. I can guarantee one of his friends out there is going to take that money or it was going to happen. You know, no matter how it happened, it was going to happen. So I'm glad they got him. Yeah, glad they got him. And justice will be served for sure. So anyway, thank you both. Have a great day there. And where are we? Rosie and Glenn, VE4YYL, VE4GWN from KK7ZNET. VE4GWN, let's see it's 64 degrees Fahrenheit supposed to go up to 82 degrees. It's unusually warm for this time of year and I'm not at work today because today is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation Recognizing the wrongs that have been done in the past for with Aboriginals. It is nicknamed Orange Shirt Day and not coming back to 1973 I believe it was a Young girl on her way to school for the first day her grandmother bought her at For them at great expense for their income an orange shirt to wear from school and the girl walked there proudly And when she was in school the staff ripped it off her body saying that orange is a heathen cover Color and was not allowed to wear it in school That gives an idea some of the wrongs that that did wrong so now it's called the orange shirt day and yes, Rosie and I have orange shirts that we will we are wearing today and It is what it is and I'm going to say 73 back to neck VE4GWN in Winnipeg"},{"callsign_confidence":0.94,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-10-12T07:57:18+00:00","id":58783,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":58782,"text":" And zero HC, yep, Monopoly with the cousins, a classic. And Battleship, yes, definitely another classic. Poker, we played a lot of poker when I was a kid with my family members. And Spades, yeah, it's been a long time since we've played Spades. That was a good one. I'm unclear on the rope game with the cars, but I'll trust your judgment. I'm not sure I pictured that in my head, but those all sound like really good games and sounds like you had a bunch of them with your family members when you were coming up. So awesome, and thank you for sharing that. And have a great rest of your day, hopefully not too windy. All right, next up to close out this round for me, and before turning it over to Missy to take another round, we've got VE4GWN and VE4YYL, Rosie Glenn from Winnipeg, Manitoba. I'm going to answer first because I got to run out the door shortly. Oh yes, I remember my call sign was XM3245881. I got that in 1978. I got the CB when I got back from Egypt. My handle was Green Scorpion and the story behind that is the car I was driving at the time was a green Toyota and I had a scorpion that was encased in plastic that I had glued to the dash of the vehicle. That's how I come up with the call sign, Green Scorpion. So that was a long time ago. Rosie got the CB when I brought her home from Germany in 1984. 85, pardon me, I got back to Canada in 84. She came back in 85, but she'll tell you about her because I'm going to say 73 and pass this over to Rosie so I can get ready to run out the door. That will probably bring me up to the top of the hour after that. Missy, KC7FMW is going to take the helm.
