My name is Cam, location Belleville, and I picked up, we had a junk in the trunk sale in June locally here. So, I picked up this GB, I think it's a GB, 7500 antenna, the dual band, 2 meters to a 440 antenna. The amazing thing about it is, it's both on 2 meters and on 440, it does a 1 to 1. And none of the other antennas that I have are quite that good, they all get around that. But there's something about this one antenna, so I've left this antenna as my home antenna sitting on a pipe plate. So, anyway, it shouldn't work but it does, it's very very good, it's a very good radiation pattern, etc. So, no outdoor antennas here, but anyhow. So, yeah, antennas I think you'll find are one of the amazing things that often shouldn't work, but sometimes they do and so forth. But anyway, there you go, VE3G VG, back to the control. Thank you so much for that, Cam, VE3G VG in the group, Victor Alpha 3, Echo, Whiskey, Victor, we're turning. I picked up the pipe plate, I think that's it. When I go to my next photo activation, parked on the air or any kind of outdoor activation, I think I'm going to bring me one of those big military pans, you know, the big metal military pans that they used to have. I know we had them in the States, the US stamped on them. But I think I'm just going to start bringing those out. They seem to do miracles, right? I might just sit in one of those pipe plates by the wife, you know, so we can get everything going on there correctly. But things aren't working. I'm just going to sit up inside and see if we can get it working. Thank you so much, Cam. Alright, one last call from VE3G, the East inclusion North. This is Victor Alpha 3, Echo, Whiskey, Victor, we're at the Trans-Canadette. Please come down."},{"callsign_confidence":0.94,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-08-10T10:41:35+00:00","id":15811,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":15810,"text":" Alright, definitely a couple familiar voices there. VE3G, VEJ, Cam will be with you in just a second. And up first, VE3BZ, Kevin in Victoria Harbour. Welcome to the net. Kevin, I don't think you've, I don't think maybe you've ever missed a trans-Canada net. I think we've both been, both been here from the start. Welcome to the net today, and what's the furthest you've reached? Located in Sheldon, Washington. Well good afternoon, Chris and everyone on the net, and no, I've missed quite a few nets, or a handful anyway. Anyway, Antarctica on just after I got my license, about a year after I got my license in 2014, single sideband on 20 meters, R1 ANT, it's about 11,000 miles, and I did the conversion that was, I don't know, 17,000 something kilometers. So, that's it. Now you mentioned South Africa, it sounds like you worked Bill ZS6 CCY, he's got a huge station down there. I worked him another, he's always on 40 meters almost every night, pretty much, but I've worked him a number of times. Anyway, thanks Chris, back to you, EE3BZ. Yeah, that was the guy, he's got a pretty amazing setup, and I probably had him at about 10 over nine or something. A friend of mine in New York City, who just has a little portable shortwave receiver in his apartment, he's heard him on 40 meters. So, yeah, the guy's got a huge signal. Thanks for joining us, Kevin. And next up, oh, I wanna mention, Vector Echo 3 Romeo Sierra Bravo has just joined us, the Burlington computer. We had a connection issue at the start of the net, that's why we were, that's why I started late. That's where I was connected to first, and for whatever reason, we didn't connect up automatically, but we are now. So, hello to Burlington, Ontario, my home club, and VE3 Golf, Victor Golf, welcome to the net, what's the furthest you've got? Good evening, good afternoon, Chris, this is VE3 Golf, Victor Golf, name is Cam Location, Belleville. This was a doozy, it happened, I guess, shortly after I got my license in 1973. 73 or 74, I worked, ZL2 Bravo Tango, that was his call sign, I still remember it, crystal clear. And it was at 80 meters, 80 meters, and that's where, and so ZL2 BT, and that was at 80 meters. And then shortly afterwards, the local net came on, on TARS, and we had a station from BC call in, and he was like 40 over nine or something like that, so the band that morning was really wide open, so anyway, but that was, that was definitely front on 80 meters, VE3G, VG. Yeah, extraordinary conditions, I've certainly not experienced that yet. Yeah, getting that far on 80, that's really something. Were you running a vertical back then? No, just the bazooka dipole, the supplied to the blind, so yeah. And so we had that set up, and that was even before the tower and the beam and everything else I had up, and the repeater and everything else I had going on, so that was an early installation at the same time, I'll go ahead. Boy, that's really something. All right, thanks, Cam. That's a great one, and another regular here on the TransCanada. I'm at the bottom of my list, do we have anyone else in Atlantic Canada, Quebec, or Ontario for the TransCanada, please check in."},{"callsign_confidence":0.99,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-08-31T10:25:22+00:00","id":28981,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":28980,"text":" There you have it, two stations there. We got some pictures and sort of thing. We were down in Nova Scotia and then we went to New Brunswick and now we're in Quebec. So tomorrow we return home and sort of thing. Lots of operations on 220. I'll have that radio with me as well as on DMR. I'm not getting too much on DMR. I'm hitting the repeaters but I can't seem to talk to anybody. So anyhow it must be something with the news groups and all the rest of that stuff that hasn't been quite completed yet. Anyway there you go. I might have VE1 MGS VE3 golf Victor golf portable VE2. In terms of RFI, the only RFI I never really fixed it. You know the touch lamps that used to be popular, I don't know if they're still around, but it used to be these touch lamps that you just touch the base and the light goes on three different levels. Well, they aren't really very friendly with CW. We're on a light show. I had reports, well, we had one here and my wife told me about low, medium, high, off, low, medium, high, off when I'm doing CW. We had some neighbors who also told me that theirs was doing it and they didn't know why. Hi, good day to yourself and everyone on there. Yeah, I tried to check in earlier just as an in and an out there. But oh, everything about it I guess. Just got into it after many years of being out of it. But everything about it, awesome hobby that's for sure along with my music hobby. So I thought I'd try and get back in. I was having difficulties here getting in through my node. And so I'm coming in right now via my repeater phone app. So just everybody have an awesome day and thanks for taking my check in. Very good. I'm glad I got it wrong on a short time. You can always check in short time and come back as well which you have done. So that's fantastic and great to hear from you. We're here every week so please join us again. And glad that hopefully you find Ham Radio somewhat complementary to your music hobby as well. I know that the two, the sort of I guess mindset almost seems to go together for a lot of people. We get a lot of people who are into music and also into Ham Radio as well. So that's fantastic. Thanks Ron. Appreciate it. We're here every week. Join us again. Cam in Belleville, Victor Echo 3, Victor Golf, Victor Golf, great to hear from you. I was wondering if you were going to be on. Probably right at the moment is my new 9700, well new to me 9700 I got the other week. Started to play around with VHF satellites, done some competitions in the UK. You forget that HF works really easy in comparison to VHF and UHF and hopefully when I have an antenna for it to be playing with 23 cents as well. So that has been taken up a bit and is shorting my time of late. So yeah, definitely that new radio back to the group. Ah very good, 2 Delta Zero, Bubba Echo Yankee from your net control, Victor Echo 5 Uniform Oscar. Thank you so much Gavin and just one comment, I really like your QRZ page, I love the format of it, it really really stands out and great information presentation there. So thank you for that and I may have mentioned as well earlier, I also have an IC9700 that is sitting in a box here. I'm going to move my amplifier off the main table over to the side here and put it beside my HF radio here and get it connected to an outside antenna. I don't think there is a lot of 23 centimeter operation around here and our population density isn't quite what it is in the UK so I don't know how good terrestrially we will be but I'm certainly interested in some satellite operations and of course the built in D-Star maybe getting back on D-Star here a little bit. Very good, thank you Gavin for that and please join us again, we are here every week at 1pm Eastern Time and I want to say that that would be, I don't even know UTC, I guess we are at 1800 UTC here so 6pm your time I'm guessing roughly and thanks again.
