I like boneless chicken, you know, it's like a chunk of white meat chicken and it's seasoned and dipped in that sauce. Those ones I can eat because I'm not trying to eat the chicken around a bone, right? I can just like take a bite and eat it and be fine. It's when you're trying to eat those super spicy ones with the bone and you're eating the sauce all around your lips, you know, you rub it in, you get it in your eyes and stuff, eating with your hands close to your face kind of thing. And I can't go to that because then the sauce gets me too much. But I can have that same sauce on a boneless wing and be just fine with it. So I'd be down for trying some of those super hot boneless wing challenges that they've got in the States or the new world's hottest gummy bear, or no, the new world's hottest one chip. I'd try that one. The gummy bear, forget it. I've got one in my bedroom now called the Toe of Satan. It's made with nine million Scoville straight capsaicin extract from ghost peppers and Carolina Reapers and scorpion peppers and all this kind of crazy stuff. And I won't eat it because I know it's going to be the worst thing ever. It's going to be far worse than the gummy bear. It's made out of exactly the same stuff, only it's ten times as big. So it's going to tear up your stomach, probably tear up ten stomachs. But anyway, man, I'm going to run. We'll catch you out here in the morning for the net. Yeah. I would think that you could tell you that, but I'm not sure you can tell. I was thinking that if it wasn't a tech ship, and you come back and you found a hack with a 5000 star vision, what would you do with it? This is repeater station kilo, kilo seven November. OK, you got two. All star node six two zero two. Show the way you decide. I just thought I throw one out for you in case you are still undecided on what you wanted to use today. Yeah, because today is like some kind of goofy ass international oyster day or something like that. I heard about it on CTV news. I popped the door today. I knew that it went for a fair say. I've been this thing for years. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And then your heart and places. VA three KK Y. Please create a KK right. Go here. OK, well, I'm going to be a one done. So I'm just going to make a quick transmission and then pretty much go back to bed because I'm still really, really, really tired. I didn't get to sleep until sometime 3 30 this morning. I was playing around with this new date and I bought yesterday morning has some good concentrate and pretty much most of that stuff anyways always just knocks me out. So yeah, a little bit and pretty much that was that I was reading a little bit watching CTV. Yesterday was a civic holiday in Canada. So nothing was open. It was a holiday Monday. I still work anyway. And yeah, on one of the segments yesterday on the six o'clock news, they announced that today it would be some kind of international oyster appreciation day or something like that. So I guess to quickly answer that question. I haven't had for a good number of years. My dad used to buy them. He stopped. I used to like muscles. But a lot of times it's like some dining cuisine item kind of thing. I haven't done that for a good number of years. I certainly like ball like with oysters. I certainly like them cook. Right. I mean, I know some people that can just eat them raw out of the shell. So I don't do that in particular. And most of those things are just highfalutin things. We don't really get. It's kind of like it's expensive. And then another thing is I think we used to get like some of those things from even Red Lobster. And we haven't eaten that for a billion years. You know, they sometimes call that lobster. It's kind of like the McDonald's seafood anyway. You can't eat that exactly like you go. You can't just see food even though they represent the good stuff. But just batter it with white powder or whatever. So other than most of that going up my nose, I don't think I have that. Red Lobster, white powder batter stuff too often. I don't know. They're just highfalutin things we don't really get. We're more of the pig liver, chicken liver type of thing. We get the cheap meat. You know what I mean? I mean, even me and myself, I like shrimp rolls and things like that. And we don't usually get that again. That's another highfalutin thing. I don't think they have special discounts at Metro Mart for oysters and things like that. So we don't get that really often. Alright, well, honestly I'm really just going to go back to bed. I wanted to make sure that that was okay. And I slept through yesterday. So I really didn't want to just pass another day without saying something to the vet. So I will say hi and bye. You take care. Have a good day. I'm leaving and someone will get the spot. Who wants it? And I'll turn it back to you. Well, it's good luck. Take care. Have a good Tuesday. And this is the first day back from Canadian holiday. Okay. BA3KKY. Back to you. Take care. Hey, I live in an area where, you know, seafood is all over a lot of seafood places. They usually serve them like in restaurants where they have bars also. Raw and half shell with red sauce which is just like ketchup. It makes it a little more strategy. I think I like the sauce more than I like, you know, the oysters. They're kind of soft and gooey. You know, and you got to put a lot of lemon on them also because, you know, if bacteria gets in it, you can get kind of sick from oysters. So I kind of steer clear of that unless they're really well cooked. So you wouldn't find me ordering raw oysters anymore. But it's a good source of omega-3 fatty acids. So it's, you know, beneficial in that respect to eat oysters. Now, I could see Campbell's soup I think had an oyster white sauce which was, they put one oyster in a whole can. And, you know, it would be like instead of using tomato sauce, you could use the oyster sauce over spaghetti. And I enjoyed that. Even, you know, like clam sauce. And then if they ever had the oyster one, I would take that which was usually, you know, the more expensive between, you know, whether you would choose the oyster, the clam or the, and you could get the clam in a red sauce too and white sauce. But the oyster was all white. Let's see, breaded oysters are pretty good. What are those, rocks and mountains and oysters? Those aren't really oysters. That's something else. I enjoyed that it's lobster season by the way over here. Coming up the 8th, they had the mini season. So there's a lot of lobsters around Florida. Spiny lobsters. There's a pot of polysaurus arcus spiny lobster. And it's also on action all night out tonight too. All over national, all over the United States. 884-H over on near Florida. Back to wrestling head control. I was 884-H from Cape Nine in the case. Anybody ever get on the cupboard and lift your hand up, called Cape Nine in the case. And the question of date is do you like horses? Called Cape Nine in that case."},{"callsign_confidence":1.0,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-08-09T06:44:50+00:00","id":15397,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":15396,"text":" Well, maybe Mr. Sandman paid him a visit. All right, then Kevin, VA3, KKY, the honor falls to you of deciding one question we're gonna ask. You know the routine. Go ahead. Throw out a number 1 to 6. Okay, well, what I can do is throw the Google dice, so something like Google, read the number from 1 to 6. Four. Four? So, question four. All right. The question is, let's see, suppose you were offered the power to read other people's minds. Would you take it? And why? So, in a way, it could be good, it could be bad. I mean, you could be learning a lot of stuff that you don't want to know, whether it's about you and this person or other things. But if you had the power to read people's minds or could have the power, would you take it? So, we'll turn that over to you, Kev. Well, I suppose that I would. It would probably make me even more judgmental on second-guessing people because I kind of already do that anyway. And I rely totally on, you know, inner monologue and internal wit, you know, to decide what I'm gonna do. And I think that's a good thing. I don't even quit, you know, to decide about people already, so it would just probably be more intense. I just honestly really don't really believe in such things because I'm thinking if anyone can read minds, well, then it's very simple to settle. Tell me tomorrow's LOMOMAX numbers. I don't even play. Tell me about a horse that I could cash in on. You know, give me something tangible. Give me something legible. That's the thing with sidekicks is oftentimes they don't have any credibility at all to me unless they're already doing well. It would be the first thing that you would do. And if anyone tells you that they're psychic, just go up to them and punch them right in the face, kick them right in the ribs, step on their feet, and they're lying to you already generically because they should have been out of the way. Nothing should have already told them that that was coming. They couldn't even see that coming. So I'd have to be so, or I think I would be heavily skeptical of a lot of those things. So even like my atheism, I think honestly I've come upon it in terms of a logical awakening, you know, more than anything else. And I don't have any particular ESPs or anything like that. It certainly never comes in handy. It's never saved me. I always learn about things way after the fact, right? Like, oh, my brother was sick, and I wouldn't have never known. So if it was ever something useful, it's never been revealed to me. But yeah, go punch a psychic. And they didn't see it coming. The most simplest thing. The gala experience, I guess. Okay, I'll pass it back to you, Kevin. VA3KKY. VA3KKY KM1X. Well, I'm talking more, less about reading into the future. I'm talking more like just knowing what people are thinking. So that, you know, if you're working with somebody and you can hear what they're thinking as they're thinking it, so that if they're looking at you and saying, oh, man, this guy's a jerk, you get that. I mean, yeah, it would be predicting the future if you knew that, okay, you would read the mind of the president who's planning on, you know, starting nuclear war or something like that. But it wouldn't be the, you know, what are the lottery numbers going to be, since that's supposed to be all random. Darryl has texted me, so he's back. So let's go back to Darryl. V01UKZ. Darryl, the question is, suppose you have the opportunity to have the power to read people's minds. Would you take it? So you'd have like ESP, and you would know who's thinking what when they're thinking it. Is that something that you'd want to have, or do you think it could be detrimental, because you've learned some things you really don't want to know. Over to you, Darryl. Well, first off, I wasn't gone very long, and Kevin was, I think, directly after me, so I must have just missed my turn by that much. I just ran to the bathroom. But it depends, Kevin. If it was something I could shut off, you know, to go to sleep at night or something like that, I'd be down for it, because you wouldn't want just everybody else's thoughts coming into your head constantly. You wouldn't want that. It would become too overpowering. I think so, anyway. I think it would become overpowering. But if you could turn it off, then great. Or if it was sensitive enough so you could tune it to just one person, or if it was sensitive enough that if you were, you know, in your own apartment, it wouldn't, you know, it wouldn't keep flooding into your mind, because I think that would be just catastrophic if you could constantly hear what everyone was thinking. And I'd have some fun with it, too. You know, like, if I heard someone say, I heard someone thinking, oh, that guy's a prick or something like that, I'd be like, oh, so that's how you feel, isn't it? And they'd be like, well, what you say? And I'd be like, man, I just heard what you said. And then they'd be like, oh, did I say that out loud, or did I say it in my mind? And I'd be like, no, you said it out loud, man. Like, what the hell? I think that would be fun. But, yeah, like, you know, if you were in, like, it depends on the range, too, I suppose, you know? Because you don't want, you know, voices coming in from all over the city. You know, you'd need a range to this power, I believe. Like, you know, 50 feet, maybe. You know, you don't need to know what people beyond 50 feet are doing. I think it would just be a waste. And plus, you'd get too much on your channel. You know what I mean? It would be way too overcrowded. There'd be way too many voices coming in all at once. I don't know that you could even, you know, detect what was going on if you had way too many voices on the same channel, everybody trying to talk at once. But, yeah, that's my answer to the question, Kevin. If it was more powerful, or sorry, if it had a limitation, and or if you could turn it off, that'd be my only stipulations. Back over to you, V01UKZ. V01UKZ-KM1X, I could see that. I was thinking at the time that as far as limitations, it would be more like, okay, you think of a person. So, you know, pick a person, Oprah Winfrey, and you would just immediately be able to tune in to whatever Oprah Winfrey was thinking about at that time. You know, you were, so that, you know, it wasn't like everybody, you could just turn it on and off. You know, I mean, let's face it, especially guys, we have this great ability of just turning our brains off, just really not thinking about anything or anyone. I mean, you know, obviously if you're thinking about, you know, putting a boat in the water, well, that, you know, that's not gonna, the boat doesn't have a brain, so it's not like you're gonna be reading the boat's mind. But if you're thinking about a person, well, then all of a sudden you could tap into whatever they were thinking. But, yeah, it's cool. I mean, this is a fun question, I think. It can go down many different avenues, so feel free to go with it where you want. VE1, W-I-N, Peter, you have the opportunity to read people's minds. Would you take it? Over to you. I'm taking it, Kevin. I'm driving and I'm mobile, so have a good day. I'm clear. Very good. Have a good day. Drive safe. KJ5, IRQ, Josh, you're next. Do you think you would like to have the opportunity to read people's minds? Over to you. AM1X, this is KJ5, IRQ. No, I don't hear like my own mind. I don't want to hear nothing, right? Nobody else's. Yeah, that's a scary thought. No, thank you. My wife did the same thing. She heard the question and she goes, oh, no, I would not want that. No, I think we're all hypocritical and we put on a forking in front of everybody over what's really inside of our minds. It can either be a very joyful or very scary place. And so that's a personal thing and I don't need to know that. I did want to ask you a question. I believe last Friday that you mentioned you played D&D and I know you're interested in that and thought maybe you could tell us more about that. Whatever. I mean, it doesn't have to be now or nothing. It can be a different net. I just wanted to mention it before I forgot it once again. All right. With that, I'm sending it back to KJ5, IRQ, to K and 1X. Yeah, Josh, I think you asked me that this last weekend, too. It's something that I had never played growing up. Again, it was, its heyday seemed to come about in the late 70s, early 80s. I knew people that did, but I wasn't one of them. And probably three or four years ago, it was a local game store that was going to have a session for people who've never played before. It was like an introductory session. And I asked this buddy of mine, I said, look, if you were up by any chance to ever have played D&D or had any interest in it, there's this thing going on. I'm thinking about going, but I'd rather not go alone. And the guy's like, oh, my God, I love that plate that I got up. My brother and I, we were playing. We'd get our friends and we'd be up all night. I'd love to get going. I mean, I opened a Pandora's box. And now this guy just can't get enough of it. I mean, we play every five or six weeks. He's the dungeon master. He spent all of his waking time just on this. He's recruited a bunch of other teachers at the school that he works at. Even in the summer, they get together on Tuesdays at a game store and they play. It's kind of interesting, but it depends. I mean, different people get into it at different levels. I'm not into it that much. I just assume keep it to once a month, to be honest with you. But it is an opportunity to get out and meet other people. It can be very complex. And again, my interest level is not at the point where I want to be that complex. It would depend. If you've got a game store nearby, check it out. See if they have anything. It's worth looking into if you've got just a little bit of an interest because you could go to one of these introductory things and say, yeah, this is for me. It isn't for me. You'll know probably after an hour or two. So, yeah, it's worth checking out. All right. AA4, H-O, Ron. We're talking about the power to read minds. If you had the opportunity to read people's minds, would you want it? Over to you, Ron. I think I would. Let's see. Orson Welles, he was good at having people think of a number, you know, between one and ten. And he would be able to tell them, you know, what the number was. He would be a high degree of accuracy. He would be right about it or think of an animal. He'd ask a few questions that come with a little effort. And the skills also have to be learned beforehand. I have a little interest in that and I've followed some of them. And there's some things I've picked up on, not a lot, because I never formally tried to learn how to know what somebody's thinking or if what they're saying is deceptive or not. You don't necessarily need a lie detector test. I don't know if that actually falls into the category exactly of what the question is. Yeah, I don't think we'll ever be able to read somebody's thoughts. I don't think that. Yeah, I probably enjoy that. I don't have nothing. Are you going to surprise me at this point? I've seen just about everything. So I could be wrong about that. But I've been desensitized from my past experiences that it wouldn't shock me more. Of course, maybe if there were a serial killer that could be horrible to have to unsee something that you read their mind that they had done. So I certainly would avoid somebody like that. Anyway. Yeah, there's a lot of skills out there in this people who talk about it a lot that I've listened to. All right. So that control. A4HOKM1X. You got to have, I think, a thick skin before you agree to take something like that on because it could easily be something that you regret. So you'd want to give it some thought before you jump right in. But thank you for that. And now we're going to try to see if Jeff is still there. Km4GBC. If you could have the ability to read people's minds, is that something you would want to take on? Would you like to have that ability? Or would you just assume? Keep the mystery. Over to you, Jeff. Hey, Kevin. Km4GBC. Yeah, I think I'd take that. That'd be pretty cool. But I have to admit, Kevin, I already partially have that. I can partially do that now. And if you could turn it on or turn it off, like Ron said, some people are so crazy you wouldn't want to get in their head. Anyway, I have to be able to read people's minds a little bit at my work. Usually they're lying, I can tell you that. Anyway, it's good to hear what went on here this morning. I saw the cartoon that Josh put on Facebook there just now. That's really cool. I like that. That is neat. So anyway, Kevin, back to you. I'm still here for now. Mission accomplished on that first guy. He's going to be with us until Monday morning. He's a keeper. Anyway, back to you, Kevin. Km4GBC. Good morning, everyone. Km4GBC, Km1X. Well, sounds like you've got someone to take care of for the next couple of days. How does that work? When they're in the jail, obviously you've got to feed them and all of that. Do you guys have a cook? How does that all work? Do you do takeout? When the dude gets out, do you send him a bill and they have to pay for the food that they had and stuff like that? How does that work, Jeff? Well, it varies in different sentences, different charges and pretrial. Anyway, it varies in different ways, Kevin. But as far as the Poon goes, they have a company that brings in the food. And that's, you know, it's a big company. It's a big deal. They do probably four or five jails in different counties right here where I'm at. So it's a big outfit. I used to, they used a local guy and he would do all the meals for the jail. He had like a catering company, but he would, you know, just do the basics for the jail. But he got a little too pricey for the county. And the county got this other group that was doing the jail, the two jails in the counties that were beside of us. So they bring them in in paper boxes. And they have these containers, you know, that are nice, but they're disposable. And they have regular food, hamburgers, hot dogs. Sometimes it may just be a sandwich with some side veggies. But they've got a schedule that they have to go by and have to meet. So many, you know, certain rules they've got to follow about the nutrition and so forth. But this fellow was a domestic. So he got a fight with his family in North Carolina. It's automatically a 48-hour hold if you get in a domestic disturbance. It was pretty bad. So anyway, he's staying with us till the 48 hours runs out, which will be 7 a.m. on Monday morning. And I put his coordinate on Monday too, so he'll be going to coordinate 30. So anyway, they've got these different things, different rules they've got to follow. And they have a doctor and a nurse that they can see. There is a charge for that, but it's only like $3 and $5. And if they can't afford it, they get up there to see them anyway. And they're on call. So the nurses are there every day. They give their medication. So they do the intake with the meds when they come in. So they're pretty thorough about it, food allergies and all that kind of stuff. But yeah, while they're in custody, they're the responsibility of the sheriff. So back to you, Kevin Camp, for what you've seen. This is Repeater Station Kilo Avenue. Very good. Yeah, that was interesting. I've always wondered how that worked, whether they had like a kitchen staff or what. Because all I could think of was back in the old, you know, Andy and Mayberry. How did they feed them? And so I'm glad you were able to answer that for me. All right, go ahead, KC2PKG, back to the question at hand, which is dealing with the ability to read people's minds. You've been presented with the opportunity to do that, but is that something you'd want to have? Is that too much power? Could it backfire? Would you take it if you had the chance to read people's minds? Over to you, Gray. K.M.1X, this is KC2PKG. Yeah, with the proviso that you can turn it off. I think that's a really, really good suggestion there. And it was somewhat directable. I've always had trouble working out what people are thinking. Some people can look at another person's body language or watch their faces and stuff like that and really get a good handle on what's going on. Are they accepting what you're saying? Are you believing me? That kind of thing. I can't do that. I don't have that. I look at people's faces and I see a mass of app expressions, little lightning things that go on in their faces and stuff like that. So I'm not really good at reading people. And I wish I was better at it. I really do. So yeah, I would take that. I would definitely take that. With the proviso students, you can turn it off. You can't just let it out with what everybody else is doing. And it's somewhat directable. Like I have to look at the person or something like that and I could do it. I think that would be cool. And if you could turn it off with one bullet, just don't do it. So back to you, K.M.1X. This is KC2PKG. KC2PKG, K.M.1X. Now I think we stumbled upon what could make for a good story, a novel or a movie or something about the person that gets this ability and then all of a sudden they're discovering that there could be some serious drawbacks because they can't shut it off or the limitations aren't what they thought they'd be. And suddenly it presents some problems and some conflict, which you need in a good story. So yeah, I think we're onto something here. And Daryl was right when he touched upon that. Alright, who else is next here? Ask Gray, we go to Rick. K9VFD. What do you think, Rick? You know your life. You know some people that you might want to be able to exercise this power on, this new power if you choose to take it. But is it something that you would want? Would you like to have the ability to read people's minds? Over to you, Rick. Alright, well before I answer that, you said you wanted to ask if I did anything to my bike or whatever. And I'm playing with it. I'm trying to learn all the electronics, the infotainment system, the carplay, all kinds of stuff. But, and then I, we went on a pretty nice ride last Saturday. We wound up going out to Peoria the long way and then we took the long way back and we put on like 200 miles that day. And I decided that I wanted my feet up a little bit. I also wanted the handlebars closer to me so I ordered floorboard risers and then I also ordered handlebar risers. And while I was at it, I ordered a couple LED accent lightings. One both for the front, just some white light trim to finish out the bike and you know, make it look cool. I'm thinking about adding some sequential turn signals but it's a pretty elaborate job. You have to pull the wheels off and the fenders off. There's a lot of work involved in doing it. So I'm holding on by that. That could be a winter project. But as far as the reading people's minds, I'm going to go on a tangent with that. Because my dad, he was in telecommunications for pretty much as long as I can remember. And back in the old days, he was selling business telephone systems. And then by the end of his career, now they're doing Ethernet and fiber networks. And most of the time the contractors that he worked for were in the same union I am. Their local 134 IBEW. So anyhow, one of the things that he would do back, I mean these days I don't know a lot of times they're IP phones and they would do the same thing. But especially in the car dealers. He would get a car dealer and part of the system that they needed was a way for audio surveillance. So basically the systems that he would put in would be able to, you could go to a master station or whatever and actually listen in on that telephone extension. So basically the car dealers would, you know, they're trying to make their deal. They know they're getting close but they're just not quite there. The salesman will go, you know what, why don't you and your wife think about this. And I'm just going to leave for a few minutes and you guys can discuss what's going on here. And that's when the sales manager goes in and listens to the conversation and they can hear what they're willing to do to make the deal. So that's my take on it. And so you can do it. You can read people's minds but you have to use electronics to make that happen. But as far as me having the ability to know what my wife is thinking, oh my God. Especially when I'm being a dick. You know, it's all the week man. I was just no good. You know, I told her, you know, I'm not Rick anymore. Just call me dick. And that was my way of saying sorry. But anyway, I don't know if I want that ability. And you know, maybe with all the, you know, with my project manager acting the way he is, I want to know really why he's doing what he's doing. I think what he's trying to do is speed up production. And it's a way to, you know, it slows it down at first but then it gets things going maybe. I don't know. But anyway, so count me out unless I could turn it on and off and only use it as a, you know, all of a sudden, okay this is on demand. Okay now I want to know what you're thinking. So anyway, back to neck control. K-9 PFD. This is repeater station Kilo Kilo. K-9 PFD, KM1X. Well I would think yeah, yeah, I mean I'm not married but when it comes to spouses, do you really want to know what's going on? I mean there are times where a spouse might be like what is going on? What is he thinking? What is she thinking? But at the same time, you might get scared by it when you find out. So I don't know that I would recommend using it on your spouse for sure. But that's interesting about the car thing. I mean that's eavesdropping if you ask me. Or wire tapping almost. But I suppose if it was legal, it was legal. So it would be interesting to see if that would work if they still do stuff like that today. Let's see, George, KB0, MAI. George we're talking about having the power to read people's minds. And we'll let you interpret that any way you want. But is that a power you think you'd like to have? Over to you George. KB0, MAI. You know that two car dealership thing, I believe that is true. They're going to take any advantage they can. And I can see them doing that. So that's why I want to go into car dealership. I don't say anything to my wife unless we go outside and talk out there. But it's been a while. It's been five years since I've been to a car dealership. I'm very stiff neck when I go to them. You ever watch that movie, Bruce Almighty? He thinks he can do better than God. So God gives him all his powers and he's trying out new things. And all of a sudden he's starting to hear people all over the place in his mind. It gets worse and worse and worse. He's trying to clean out his ears because he thinks he's hearing things. And come to find out, God tells him, well that's prayers. You're God, you have to have the prayers. And he says, well how do you stand it? And God says, well I'm used to it but you only pick it up, the prayers from 40th street to 1st street, New York City or something like that. So you just get a small sample because you've got to start answering these prayers or it's just going to get worse and worse and worse. So I just sent out a typewriter. I guess this is his way of answering the prayers. And he just goes on and on and on. No matter how fast he works he just can't answer all the prayers. So finally he just grants everybody everything. For some reason I keep thinking about that movie when we're talking about this stuff. But I would say myself, no I don't need it. I read people pretty good. Not so much if they're on the air but in person I can read them fairly decently. I prefer that over hearing every thought that goes through their mind. That would drive me nuts. Hey Hal, I got done with all my road work, or yard work. And I've got to take a shower and get ready to get to the pool for my grandson. So eat some breakfast and all that kind of good stuff. So I'm just going to call it quits for the day. Everybody have a wonderful weekend and I guess I'll see you on Monday. JB0MAI. JB0MAI. JB0MAI. KM1X. Well it sounds like you got your work out of the way and it's still bright and early so you've got the rest of the day to play. Congratulations. I'm in the midst of chopping up onions and peppers to go into my spaghetti sauce as we talk about the question. And once I get all the chopping and stuff done then it's just a matter of cooking. And that should be alright. So I'm hoping to have this done by 10.30 or so. And then I can start my playing on the weekend too. Uh, D. KN4. LBF. You've had some time to think about the question, D. And as George said, I mean it does kind of give you some godlike abilities I would think. But is that something you would want if you could? Over to you. This is KN4. LBF. Um, I don't think I would have to, uh, not be soft in order to have it but I would like to have it. And just for, you know, for instance, um, you know, yesterday I had a really good conversation with a friend of mine and she was saying that her best friend, one of her girlfriends died a month ago. And she's been hanging with a crowd in her community since she's been here two years. And she, they all got together in one apartment to go to the funeral. And one of the ladies that she was hanging with said this to another woman, says, oh you see how she is like, you know what I said or whatever. But she heard and she turned around and she said, are you guys talking behind my back? And, um, she told me yesterday she was really devastated because she felt like she wasted two years of her life hanging with people that she thought cared about her. And it was a lie. They just was talking bad things about her. And I would say what's going on through your mind. And not only in reference to friends, family, nephew, nieces, whatever cases, it's just to know who is dishonest and honest with you. Who is selfish? Who is keeping two, three years of your life, 30, 40 years? I mean, I would like to set boundaries. And yes, I would like to have that ability because people are just not honest at all. And, um, I had another instance. I had a friend, let me reset, just give me a second. I had a friend that I thought was a friend of mine. And, um, her husband was my husband's best friend. And then she started hanging out with me. She started inviting me places and stuff to come to find out after four years of being what I thought was my BFF. She just wants to be in the same household to watch her husband. She didn't give two crap about our friendship. I was like, how can that be? How can people use other people like that? So, um, I have to say, yeah, I would like to know what's in your mind and I can have boundaries for I can, um, you know, just, um, make sure that I don't know. I just say yes. Anyway, back to you, Kevin. This is K and 4 LBS. This is D. Kevin 4 LBS KM1X. I think we've all been there, D, where we thought we knew someone and come to find out, you know, we didn't. They weren't the people that we thought they were. Um, that they didn't necessarily, you know, put as much weight on relationship as we did. And so you're right. That is a good thing to be able to have the ability to kind of root out before you invest a great deal of time and energy of your life on a relationship where the other person think about that. Just like when you were dating, you know, just this person like me, I really like this person. Do they like me as much as I like them? And just that whole awkwardness of getting to know someone. If you had the ability to know how the other person felt, think of how much pain that would have saved. So you brought up a very good point, D. Alright, let's go down to Ben, VE3, FBX. You've heard a lot of different viewpoints, Ben. And so we'd love to know what you think now. If you had the ability to read people's minds, is that something that you would want to have? Over to you. VE3, FBX. No, definitely not. Like Dee was saying, yes, people may try to use you or not have the same feelings you do, but that might be a temporary thing. There's a lot of temporary thoughts that enter a mind. I also think there's a lot of dark thoughts and dark minds and I would want to get dragged into seeing all the dark thoughts that people have. Maybe short lasting, maybe a long lasting plan they're working on. I just don't think it would be a fun place to be. Back to you, Kevin. VE3, FBX, KM1X. Well, I like going back to what Dee said. It was a case of an individual that you thought much more of and you thought it was both ways, but it turned out not to be. We all have people in our lives that we kind of more or less put up with. And there may be someone that thinks, oh my gosh, this person is great and we're really good friends when in fact we're just tolerating them more than anything, trying to be polite. So it could get turned on us as well. But that's a good point. Alright, Bill. N9, OFU. What do you think? You had some time to think about this. Is this something that you would want to have the ability to do? Over to you. Alright, well I just read your mind. I knew I was next. So maybe I already have it. I've always thought that would be an interesting trait to have because then you could say more or say less based on what the other person was thinking. So you wouldn't get in trouble or you would know if you were getting somebody upset so you could shut your mouth and stop talking. But I think it would be more trouble than it would be worth. I do like the idea of being able to focus it so you wouldn't hear everything and then be able to turn it on and off. Because sometimes it's better not to know what the other person is thinking. Because like you said, there are times when I look at someone and I think to myself things that I wouldn't say out loud. And there's a reason for that. Because your body has a difference mechanism. And sometimes we make snap judgments that aren't in our best interest. And then after a little while you completely change your mind. So if someone just read your first thoughts, they'd be totally off the mark. So I think the way it is now is probably better. So I would have to go with no, I don't think I'd want to have that ability. Even now I tell myself, I'd want to know if someone was lying to me or not lying to me or something like that. But I think I'm probably better off without it. Alright, and I know if you're back to the cam 1X."},{"callsign_confidence":1.0,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-08-09T07:00:26+00:00","id":15405,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":15404,"text":" When I lived in Washington, D.C. about 20 years ago, when I would ride the subway, and this was after 9-11, you'd have a lot of Middle Eastern people and they'd be talking and I thought, you know, that would be interesting to be able to speak Farsi or whatever their language was, to just sit there and listen to what they were talking about, because that's such a hard language to learn and B, it's not one that a lot of people even want to learn, that if you could have that ability, it could be very interesting. But again, what happens if you hear something you really don't want to hear? Now all of a sudden you're involved in something. There's a plot line for a movie right there. So, yeah, that's interesting. Alright, look at the clock. We've got to start the 73 round, so we're going to go back up to the top of the list and try to wrap this up. So we're going to go to Darrell first, V01 UKZ Final Comments for the Saturday morning. November Quebec November, All Star Node 6222, located in Shelton, Washington. There you go. My phone was locked in my pocket. I just got the headset on, I'm standing outside here. There's Burn and One, you know, good Saturday morning toke, you know, first thing in the morning. Really enjoyed the night, Kevin. I got to say, it was definitely a good one. And Shadow wants to come out. Come on, bud. Meow. He's got a strange little meow. He's a big old cat, but he's got this quiet little meow to him. It's kind of strange. Anyway, just like to invite everyone to stick around for the Worldwide Friendship Net, which is coming up next here on Do Drop In. I will go ahead and disconnect Michigan for the time being because I do assume we will probably run over. Which is cool. You know, we have as much time as you do, Kevin. So yeah, I'll just say 73 then. Again, great net. V883. V883, KM1X. Well, it went by fast, I'll tell you that much. And yeah, I'm just sitting here at the stove, so I am, I got time. And we're glad you were able to join us, bright and early this morning too. So, come again! You all come back now, you hear? V883, KKY. Kevin, final comments from you. Hey, yeah, it was a lot of fun today. I had a lot of fun on the net. We'll look forward to hearing the events of the Nauternet controllers. Ready to take the helm. And yeah, my ex-girl Vicki was really annoying with what she thought she knew. A lot of times our fight was just that, right? Because I would get irritated and just belt her really hard. And say, well, I guess you didn't see that coming, did you? And you know, sometimes I would punch her right in the ribs. Knee her right in the chin. You know, when she was trying to pick something up. My favourite was just hitting her while she was in the middle of talking. I just liked that, right? Because she would get all uppity and obnoxious. So then suddenly she would be talking and then squealing and screaming when she gets punched in the ear. And then I'm like, I bet you didn't see that coming. And I think years later she told people, well, I guess I was wrong in a way because I didn't see the abuse coming or whatever. So yeah, that was years and years and years ago. I tested it on her beliefs too. Like one day I squeezed her neck real hard. I said, what invisible man do you believe in now? So, I said, if you really believe in an invisible man like that, why is he letting me squeeze your neck? So, you gotta challenge people on those things, you know what I mean? Otherwise they're just half cocked. And I think later on, when she was in another relationship, they were tired of her supposed clairvoyance. So, she got smashed in the head with a beer bottle and had to get stitches. I bet you didn't foresee that, slut. So, there you go. That's what you do with mind readers. Seriously. Test these people. Don't just let them always be like half cocked all the time. And test a believer. Alright, well I believe I better get up out of here. But you guys have a good fat day. And we'll look for you on Sunday, alright? Because it's Saturday today. Saturday, Saturday. Take care, Kevin. VA3KKY. VA3KKY KM1X, you have a good rest of your day and weekend. And maybe we'll talk to you tomorrow morning. Now we're going to go down to Josh. JJ5IRQ. Final comments from you today, sir? Alright, alright. Good morning. I am finally fully awake at the end of the day. Believe that or not. It is 8.50 here. I have done a few things honestly. I dug out my Ender 3 3D printer. I haven't used it in a while. And actually I'm really thinking about selling it. I've been back and forth on it. But me and my wife talked about it yesterday. And she might want to take a crack at my hand at this finally. So, yeah. I'm setting that back up this morning. It's the Ender 3 Max Neo. It has a custom, not custom, but it has an aftermarket into extrusion. Do you like jabs? So it's just about all those little weird things that used to come on these things. So, yeah. I guess I could have made it look great. But today is still a good printer. So maybe you could put this in if you can figure this darn thing out. I've done a few things on it. I did a little bit here and there. I came up with a CNC router for it. It's basically a 3D printer but it's for work. It's just cards rather than prints. And I used that for, gosh, six, seven years. It was fun. But then of course I got bored of it. I traded it one for one for this Ender 3 setup. And it comes with a aftermarket Sonic pad too. It's pretty cool. It's like a little tablet that controls it so you don't have to have a computer to touch it. So anyhow, yeah. We're going to dig that out. I'm getting cleaned up right now. I'm going to hook it up and set it up for the life. And maybe in the next few years, in the next few years, longer than three weeks or four weeks or so, there's more of a big-time market place that we'll grow. I guess with that I will say 73's. That's the final product I think of today. Kevin, thank you for that. Thanks for hosting. And we'll leave everybody here again tomorrow. KJ5 IRQ, back to the next room. KJ5 IRQ KM1X. Well, good luck with the printer stuff. And thank you for joining us this morning. Hope you have a great weekend. Uh, Rowan AA4 HO. Now it's your turn for final comments. Over to you, my friend. Nancy Kevin. I have my trusty HT ready and these headphones time out. They've been on an extended period of time. They're going to cut off any second. You know, and then I've got to restart them and everything. So I've got my all-star ready just in case. Great net. And, uh, had a good time. The time went by really quick and there were some great questions. And, uh, it was really entertaining. I'll see everyone tomorrow, Sunday. And I'll have a report about, uh, if my, uh, stepper motor gets here, uh, before the net starts. But it might come tomorrow after. Uh, that's been an interesting project. It's taken me to places in electronics that I haven't been before. Uh, okay Kevin, I'm going to turn it back to you. This is Rowan AA4 HO Miramar, Florida."},{"callsign_confidence":0.94,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-08-09T04:55:46+00:00","id":15390,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":15389,"text":" Okay, just tried the button on my headset to see if it would activate PTT, but nah, it doesn't. It just beeps when you press it. It's typically the pause button, you know, for music and stuff like that, but yeah, either way. No big plans, man. Take the bike out for a ride. Shortly after lunch, I think. I straightened it all up yesterday. The air intake is still a little wonky. It's still sucking a little bit of air that it shouldn't be. But, um, it's all good. I checked it over yesterday. It's off like a shade on the bottom. I don't know, it's just not fitting right. Maybe I don't have it lined up right or something. I'm not doing something right. And, um, I'd like to be able to figure that out, but I don't really know this stuff so well, right? I mean, I'm not a mechanic. I wish I was. Because then I could do this stuff really quickly and very efficiently, but with me, it's like trial and error, watch a YouTube video. Let me reset. Yeah, it's like trial and error, watch a YouTube video, pause it, you know, do a little tinkering, watch some more video. You know, that's the way it is when it comes to my level of, uh, mechanisies. But, at least I try. Hope everything's going good with you, Kevin. Yeah, I went to sleep last night, I mean, you know, at like 10.30 or something. And I woke up a couple times throughout the night, which is typical for me, and, um, went to the door and called my cats and managed to get all three of them in by like 4 o'clock or 4.30. Uh, the worst thing about this is because when I get Shadow in, it's all well and good, right? But then when I'm trying to get Dewey in, Shadow's trying to get back out. So the whole time I'm calling Dewey, I'm like, like trying to fight off a predator on the inside of the door here, right? He's like trying to climb me, he's trying to jump over my shoulder, he's jumping up on the counters. He's like doing everything he can to find a little inch to squeeze out. And that's where it gets frustrating, because trying to hold him in when he wants out is near on impossible. But other than that, Kevin, I won't keep it down too long, man. Um, I am here, and should be here, because I'm not tired, so, um, I got plenty of sleep. I was actually awake about an hour before the net started this morning, so, um, and I woke up and everything was still connected, which is great, because I did it before bed last night, and, uh, everything stayed up. So, we're still having a minor, let me reset one more time. We're still having some minor internet issues up here. It's very sporadic now, um, but it is still happening. I did notice that wonky behavior last night with the All-Star Note again, with the repeater kept disconnecting, everything kept disconnecting, so, I don't know. It's on my parents right now, anyway. I was talking to my old man about it last night, and he's been experiencing some issues, too, so, um, we're ever so closer to calling the company. You wouldn't think that would be so difficult, but with my parents, oh, man, it's difficult. Um, I'll be here, V01UKZ with the cowabunga net. V01UKZ, KM1X, well, glad to hear you got a good night's sleep, and, uh, sounds like it's gonna be a great day weather-wise, at least here, and I'm sure over there, because we've had great weather the last few days, so I would think our weather is making its way over to you. And so, uh, a good day to, uh, be well-rested, I think, um, and if you can get that bike fixed, um, it's certainly gonna be a great day to be out and about. I know that, uh, I, uh, I'm gonna be busy inside making spaghetti sauce today, and you were talking about your technical issues. My, uh, local 2-meter repeater has been, for the better part of the last month, we've had some, uh, Alpha Hotel who has been, uh, basically jamming. It started out there is a, uh, a weekly net on Sunday evenings, and this person started out by jamming that net. And now it's he or she has, uh, taken to just, throughout the day, uh, doing jamming, either just, you know, kurchunking non-stop, or once they hear people talking, uh, they'll just, uh, start playing music. I don't even know how they're doing this. But you would think that since it's been going on, I mean, sometimes they'll just shut the whole repeater down so that no one, including the jammer, can get on it, but that kind of defeats the purpose. Um, and other than, you know, trying to do a little fox hunt, um, which is gonna take a lot of resources, I think, I don't know how they're gonna get, catch this guy, to be honest with you. Um, but hopefully, uh, it won't last much longer, because it's getting to be a bit of a pain. So, I understand what you're going through there, Jarrell, with the stuff that you're working with to try to get the system, you know, running properly. And we thank you for your service. Alright, let's go to Kevin, VA3, KKY. Kevin, what's going on, brother? Uh, you got a big weekend plans? Uh, and, uh, Wendell, what, does school go year round for you where you work, or were they out for the summer, and are they gonna be starting up again here soon? Uh, over to you, Kevin. Well, uh, it's a regular year, as far as I know, right to where we kinda know the school year starts out, uh, on Labor Day, uh, holiday, and usually ends, uh, somewhere, somewhere in the middle of June before July, like, uh, the, the, uh, well, I know last year, cause, see, I don't even remember what it was this year, it was like the 28th or something, so it was really cool. So it was really close to July that, uh, the kids were off. Um, and let's see, how is everybody? I hadn't been in here forever. Um, I, I just been sleeping through a lot of the nets, and just work, work, work, work, work, I, you know, got some messages about certain things happening, yep, mute the manic situation, don't be heaps cool, okay, I got that. Uh, I wasn't hostile about it ever. I was most just like, look, how you go pick up a job like Sunday and then just walk away from it. So I had said that, I remember I had said that, and, uh, I guess at some point I was just gonna ask, I was just gonna ask to recall it, and, uh, I hadn't changed when I said, hey, look, if you're gonna be crazy, you know, I mean, come on then, uh, how's that gonna work out? Don't give yourself important jobs if you're out of your mind. So that's all I said, uh, I remembered it while I was off, but I, I, I've said it in, uh, occasional Q-Soles. We had a pretty, uh, crazy and important hip-hop death that took place on Monday, Howie, uh, Howie T from, uh, Full Force. And he was a big producer, right? He produced like a lot of groups, the Real Rock Band, a few others. He passed away, and, uh, I don't know how he, how the hell that happened. I suddenly heard, hey, if TMZ doesn't know, um, then you're pretty much screwed. There is supposed to have a, there's supposed to be a pipeline on all of this, so if they have no idea, then, uh, then you're messed up. Uh, well, that is kind of why I walked away from regular 2-meters here in Toronto. Uh, it kind of started before the 2000s. Yeah, there were too many jammers on, nobody was doing anything about it. The repeat owners seemed to just kind of, uh, let it, you know, roll through. They took it in their strides, and I was like, I'm out of here. Um, there's, there's, yes, people from Scarborough. Not only does that, but a lot of times, you know, when people do the, the, the conjunctive and keying up. Um, and I said this in the 90s, I honestly think sometimes it's hands that are bored, because you just kind of figure no one's gonna see what you're doing, so that you can get away with, uh, keying up your mic 30,000 times. Uh, and yeah, a T-hunt works. Usually it does. Usually when people know you've found them, it kind of changes the game a little bit. Of course, too, they can play the game forever to where, uh, you still have to find them. So I got tired of a lot of it, and I at least ostensibly knew somewhere like Echoing would be, uh, immune to it. And for the most part, it usually is. Um, it's kind of like on Do-Drop. I think the majority of the, uh, heckling and the bad T-ups would come from the RF gateways where people, where you couldn't do anything about it, right? Like here. Um, if somebody came in on someone's particular RF, all you'd be able to do is mute them and just kind of know, okay, maybe something's coming across Darrow or something's coming across someone else. Uh, but you know, it happens all the time across, uh, systems where, you know, there's these little links people are gonna be able to get through on HTs, and there's nothing you can do to stop it. But for the most part, um, well, cause one of the people that I used to hate here in Scarborough, he's just a major stooge. Everybody makes fun of him. It's this guy, Bruce, VA3YTV. You know, he's a black and white, right? It's one reason. And another reason is, if you get him talking, he speaks like a speed freak, right? And he, it's like a lot of hot air. And so it was like, okay, well, guys like that don't go to heckling. And so there was that situation. And then, um, we would also kind of avoid, there were certain characters and certain people we avoided just because they were just known to be bad. Like one was the Barra, right? Uh, the Buffalo Amateur Radio Association. It got around to blind people that they're not very friendly to us, so stay off their systems. They used to be all over the place. So when you lived, at least in the footprint of it, you know, 90 miles, um, and for a while I lived in, um, Medina, where my mother's lived for many years. You couldn't avoid it. It's like they were everywhere. So the best thing to do, um, it used to be said that those losers don't get on Echolink. Another one that's really bad, uh, we just didn't get off on the right foot. He ended up, he used to block me all the time when he would see me with that dick Langer, WB2JPQ. I think honestly he's as bad as what they say about some of the Barra guys. He now runs East Coast Reflector. I don't know how they do or what they do. I just never, never would be a part of anything he's a part of. So then in turn, anything they're a part of. So through the blind community and through other people, he's gotten a bad name. Um, and, uh, some people call him a common CB'er, so he's somebody to avoid. So there was a lot of characters that I kind of walked away from just even getting on Echolink. Um, certain aspects are still there and other aspects, uh, it's basically, uh, you know, a safe haven up to a certain point. Cause I think here, mostly you're almost totally protected from trouble. I mean, you'll get some on occasion, but mostly it's, it's easy. It's a lot easier to filter. So I even say, if you would have asked me in the nineties going into the two thousands, I would have said, why would you even want to go on any of the local frequencies? I would have said, they're pretty stupid yo. Who wants to get on and talk to, um, uh, Lloyd, uh, Midnight on Seminole Street and doesn't have a license in the first place? Or, uh, what is it Dan, the caretaker? That's who he was on CB? So he uses the E3IS."},{"callsign_confidence":1.0,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-08-10T05:40:44+00:00","id":15736,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":15735,"text":" All right, we got AV-1AI. Brian, good morning to you, Brian. Thanks for listening there in the background. A lot of people listen in the background. And it's always a pleasure to know you're out there. Glad that we're able to fill in some empty space for you. And happy when you get the opportunity to check in, even if it's not today. We so appreciate you out there. All right, so with that, we will go back to the top of the list. We got Kevin, VA3KKY. You'll have to let me know if I'm being a little bit quiet, because I've got my microphone right next to my mouth. I'm trying to be quiet so I don't wake up my wife or me. But it sounds like I'm doing OK with that. And having the microphone headset that I have sounds like or is a great opportunity to be quiet but still be heard. So Kevin, VA3KKY. You still with us out there? Go ahead. And I know you're dealing with your dad now. Are you guys moving towards putting him in an assisted living place and you getting your own place? Are you guys sticking it out at the house you were living in? Honestly, I think everyone's sitting on their hands for that. I don't think anyone's rushing for that. And I'm glad I'm not rushing either. Honestly, I hope I kick off first before I have to deal with most of it, which probably won't happen. The more I say that, the more I'm convinced I'll be like hundreds of years old. I'll watch everyone else go. That's the whole point of getting old is you watch your friends die. And it's like too late to make new friends. It's how it really goes. It really is. My dad, one of the indications is he's lost a lot of his checker buddies. He's lost a lot of his dice buddies. He used to always call, see if there's any extra legs around tonight for dice. Because we need three or four legs for dice. So that's pretty much gone. That's pretty much shot out of the water. So you lose everybody you know. As far as now earlier, I thought I heard you ask if you know something about talking to your parents about stuff. I don't know if you went right now to them about the birds and bees and nature and stuff. I never talked to them about any such thing. Never at all. In fact, I just kept all my personal stuff out of my mom's way. She was a gossip ho. So there's no way. And even when dad was in good condition, I don't know. He was too much of a joker for me to really want to bring any serious things to the table with him. I mean, he could be serious when our mom made him. So that was kind of a deal there. He didn't exactly have tough structure or tough holes in the first place. So that was at least good. But yeah, nowadays, I have no idea. I mean, we're getting closer and closer to pretty much launching off reality. But I don't really know. I guess if I was to keep up with him and have bridge friends or dice friends or whatever, I'd probably have to start making them. Because see, I have such a cut-off point from people at any school I went to that I just broke away from them. So I wouldn't know if they're dead or alive. Like a lot of people say that they join various different social media things like Facebook and that, and they find their school friends. I'm often not really recognized a lot of them. They were static when I got away from the Ontario School of the Blind. I hated them all. I maybe not have hated every student. Let's not totally exaggerate. I think I hated staff. And I based it on user base. It was easy for me to say, screw all of this. So if there's a chance, I might have forgotten. Just like now, there's been various neighborhood schools I went to. And I definitely lost track of a lot of them. I'd almost have to start making new those kind of events. And it just doesn't really work the same way when you're older, right? It's kind of like my dad's in that position where he's almost 100. He ain't hanging around 26-year-olds. You know what I mean? It just doesn't happen. And so I'm almost 50. I ain't hanging around 20-year-olds. You think about it, right? When we was kids, we'd wait until those mugs left the room, right? Like, serious business didn't start until they left the room. It's like, get your ass out of here, old man. We want to get high and be stupid. You're in the way. You're a little bit too mature for those things, right? I almost think of LL when he'd say, my old Jew teacher's not supposed to rap. He said that to Dis Iced Tea. But anyway, it's like he was on this whole F elders kind of thing. But that's how kids are, right? So it's like I'm getting with no 26-year-olds. I don't even know any place to go where that even happens. So you can't make new friends unless you're on the ham radio. And then you can lie because they can't see you. I don't know. All right. OK, I'll let someone else talk. I don't know what to talk about, but I always talk about a lot. I don't say much, but I talk a lot. So OK, back to you, Bill. This is the 8th week, KKY in Toronto. This is repeater station kilo 7, November, Quebec, November. All sorry, no news. Kevin, the question that I had asked earlier was if you had to have that talk with your parents about moving out of their house. And if you had to move out of their house, you could have gone into some kind of an assisted living or something where they would have people being able to take care of them. But that's all right because it's just a question in case anybody wanted something to think about or talk about. And if you've got something else more interesting to talk about, then that's what we want to hear because the thing that people are most interested in. And if you're passionate about something, then it's never boring. So with that, we have a late-minute edition. We have Steve, N0BF, who's in Buffalo, New York. I thought he had gone out to Buffalo and he had gone back to Colorado because I knew he was in Ohio the other day. But apparently he's back in Buffalo. So he's still on, well, he's always on vacation. But he is not at home in Colorado. So Steve, N0BF, how are you doing and how is the trip? This is N0BF on the cell phone, iPhone 16, in Buffalo, New York. OK, well, it's a little confusing. And every time I explain the trip, it gets more confusing. Anyway, long story short, we came out each on the train and today we're going to head back on the train to Colorado. So that's the long and short of it. We've been zipping around in a car between here and Cleveland, Ohio. And there's another station between us and that's Pennsylvania, Erie, Pennsylvania. Had lunch there yesterday. So anyway, we ended up close with the Nye Air Falls, which is in the Canada area. We are all around. So anyway, we've been having fun out here and we bought a house. And so I'm going to be, my wife's not going to be moving to the Cleveland, Ohio area. You've probably been out here in a truck, I bet you. I don't know if you come out this far east or not. Anyway, I'm not sure that's, anyway, who knows? I feel, I know you get around a lot. Anyway, the questions about your parents, all that, I, that's a big one. I'll answer that later. But for now, I just wanted to say hi and bye. My wife, we're getting out for a walk and we'll come back. And then if you're still here, I'll check back in. But anyway, so that's the story. The train goes from here to Chicago tomorrow. And then tomorrow, the following day, we get to Colorado and Grand Central Station. So then I'll be heading to the town of Loveland where I live. All the facts about this, guys, anywhere in the world you can check in. This is N0PS. And I appreciate it very much, Bill. And I will listen for a bit until you go on a walk. It's N0PS. All right. Thank you, Steven. Yeah, I've been in that area a lot. My wife is from Binghamton, New York, which is at the junction of law 86 and 81. So that's where she grew up. And we lived back there. I started driving a truck when I was living back there. So a lot of time spent in that area. My terminal for the trucking company I worked for was in, well, it's in Syracuse now. Used to be in another town that is escaping my memory. But yep, know the area. So you enjoy your walk. And if you come back, just let me know. I'm trying to keep an eye on the chat box as well. And we'll get you back in there, Steve. But for now, I'll take you off the list. And we're going to go to George, KV0MAI. Hopefully he's still there. It's been a while since we've been around. But George, if you're still there, it's over to you. Oh, yeah. My turn. OK, gotcha. Gotcha. Oh, I have your KV0PSF sitting out on the back porch with me. And we were looking at what's going on out here. I got a bird feeder and a bird bath out here. And it's starting to get active again finally. We went on vacation for two weeks. Asked the kids to fill up the bird bath every other day and give them bird seed. They didn't. And that chased all the birds away. And then when I got back, I got back into the routine of everything. And it took about three weeks, I guess, before we started seeing birds again. Today, we've got lots of squirrels down there trying to eat the seed off the grass that the birds stung down. And we had four or five birds there and a couple of squirrels. They cut it ice. I like watching them when I'm out here. I'd like to do one more thing. I'd like to get out one of them hummingbird feeders and put it on the porch. And so I'd have to take care of the hummingbirds too. But it's just nice to have. My goal is eventually get enough birds that want to come around that I can do a little bit of bird photography. But we'll have to wait and see. And there goes my dog. Reset. We've got a quick, funny story for you. Now, as you guys know, I have a chihuahua. And my daughter has a chihuahua. And they wind up living here more than anything else. So we usually have two chihuahuas. My son went on a trip. And he brought over his American Eskimo to my daughter. And somehow, it got him over to our house. Somehow, we have an American Eskimo. But this dog is extremely strange. It trusts everybody and anybody except me. And it will not go near me. It'll come up and let me, you know, I can hand him a treat or something like that. But cannot let her, she won't let me pet her or anything else. So last night, my wife decided to go with my grandson and daughter to a swimming pool. And I was left alone with this dog. Now, my goodness, this dog is like a dog. Now, my goodness, this dog is like two years old. And not once does he trust me. But when they left, about 20 minutes later, I got out of my chair to go get something. And she walked up to me. And I bent over. And I was expecting her to run like usual. And instead, she allowed me to pet her. A couple of times, she did that while they were gone. And she looked at me like, you're the only one left. So I guess I have to trust you. But she had that eye of, oh, I'm just waiting for you to do something bad to me, which I've never done a damn thing bad to her at all. I mean, there's nothing to give her treats and try to play ball with her, this, that, and the other. But so I don't know what her problem is. But I had a breakthrough last night until my wife got home. And now she won't trust me again at all. She shies away from me completely. Anyways, back to neck control, KB0MAI."},{"callsign_confidence":0.98,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-08-16T04:13:51+00:00","id":17038,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":17037,"text":" Yes, so I have many siblings and the siblings have many children and one of these children was working in Los Angeles as a manager of some rich person's house and she happened to be in the center of the Los Angeles fires in January and she, we have little sessions, excuse the noise, I'm the leader of these plan ahead sessions and so she looked out the window, this big window, this big house which was very close to the ocean and she could see glow on the horizon. So she turned on the TV and this was the start of those big Los Angeles fires. So one of our issues when we have our meetings is keep your car full of gas. My sisters aren't big on keeping their car full of gas so she had her car full of gas and she called her boss and said it looks really grim boss, I'm leaving, you should plan to not come back tonight to your multimillion dollar house and she in Los Angeles 100 miles across so she got in the car and started driving before the traffic got big and she drove all the way across Los Angeles to an apartment building owned by one of her aunties and got in there and got settled and got some stuff and food and stuff and watched L.A. Burn. You have probably seen the videos. So now we talk endlessly about how we are going to fix your house. A few years ago we didn't talk about anything like that but now we talk all the time. Go ahead. So I see you have all this every time it gets windy you can have a fire. What was it that set it up in all the fresh water that goes when it rains out and most of California they let all the water just go into the Pacific Ocean. They don't save it and try to channel it for safety reasons or for drinking water. So they are going to try to redo that so hopefully that will fix things up. Yeah, fire. I never thought the woods would burn my entire life. It doesn't make any sense. I got a feeling that somebody is doing it. This doesn't happen by itself. Anyway, I got to get out of here in a minute and take my dog. We are having a nice day here. It is Saturday morning and it is sunny out and that heat wave is gone so maybe that will do things. I don't smell any smoke. I was out there this morning and the air is clean so hopefully those fires are going out. Before you know it, winter is going to be here in another couple of months and there is snow on the ground. The fire thing will be over for the year. Anyway, it is great to talk to you. Enjoy the camping out there and hope you are having fun. I wish I could do something like that. I am stuck here in my condo. I don't drive. I can't drive. I have very bad vision so I am sort of just stuck here. Anyway, you have yourself a good morning. I am going to be out walking the dog and I am going to try to check in on them in a little while when they arrive. Maybe one aye or it will be over the years. Oh yeah, well this is the weekend of the Kevin's because Kevin is doing the net today and then tomorrow I will be doing the net. So you have two for the price of one. Kevin in Maine and then Kevin in Ontario. Yep, you carry on. Breakfast television isn't on on the weekend so I just checked that out. There is another crew and yeah, you wouldn't like it. They are just talking about some crazy Toronto news instead. And I guess there still hasn't really been a decision yet with Air Canada because I guess their midnight hour did pass and they hadn't decided on anything yet. Thank God I don't have to fly. Okay, alright VA3KKY."},{"callsign_confidence":0.98,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-08-17T05:19:23+00:00","id":17705,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":17704,"text":" Yeah, yeah, you see, I'm here. I made it. I woke up. Yeah, so leave me alone. All right, Kevin. Yeah, I slept in a little bit. I slept in a little bit. I set my clock for eight hours and it turned out to wake me up at six o'clock, so I said, all right, that should be early enough, because normally I would take Sunday off, but I had to come out today. So good morning you. Good morning, Steve. I see D up there, Jeff, Josh, Ron, Ben, a whole bunch of people out there. So I hope you're having a good morning. We're up in Nephi, Utah. We went to Ephraim in the Cedar City yesterday, picked up some pallets to bring back to Salt Lake City. That's what we're going to do today. Go to Salt Lake and then head back up to Curran and see if we can get something local that'll let us stop in the rest of the city so we can take our 34 hours off tomorrow. My student's done like five and a half hours of drive on her 70, so she'll get a full 70 hours in this week. We'll get a nice paycheck next week. She's happy about that. Although her bank shut her off, she sent them an email letting them know that she was going to be out on the road, but apparently they didn't like the transactions they were seeing from here, there, and everywhere. So they shut down her account. She couldn't get ahold of anybody over the weekend to find out what was going on or get it turned back on. She'll be doing that tomorrow. But she said she didn't have access to her money except for on her daughter's account, but her daughter doesn't have any money in her account. And her paycheck this week went into her account, so got to get that figured out. Other than that, things are going fairly well. She's got done her 50 hours, so we'll be over on team now. Once we get the truck fixed, got to get the truck fixed, both the differential and the blower for the AC up front. These are two very important things. But I'll be here. They've got Denny's here. I might go in the Denny's and get something. My student yelled pancakes last night when she found out. So if she wakes up, comes in, I'll buy her some pancakes. entertaining take a seven egg UN that's funny what did you say capture involved you got it you got a something running on the system that takes audio and transforms it the video did Bill send me an email on this the other day or something the old UK Z yeah I got a logger set up on the whole start of it here and it records all the audio it hears and it feeds that into whisper AI that transcribes into text and it tries to pull call signs and stuff out and record the call plans that have heard and also keep the log of the transcriptions that is transcribed take a seven and you in well it is fantastic and QN I've spoken to you recently hey in emails yeah yeah a few times I was struggling with this system hopefully now I mean it's been four days now it's been dead stable so hopefully it stays stable I've been monitor only for the best four days and today's the first day trying trans leave some stuff man I hope it works out like you say any time I've got an email you about anything like that even I come across either bit harsh at all not man it's just like you say just let you know if any you know crazy crap is happening it's it's always a good idea to be letting all right away because as you know yourself this system does get very active from time to time and it just ends up with me having to send people freaking email but yeah it's all good man this stuff right it's all very experimental in its nature and there's so much stuff that could go wrong I just had to disconnect the station a few minutes ago for something very similar it was kerchunken after every single transmission just like that ten minutes ago so I mean it happens but it's never good when it happens but at least it gives you some more experience so you've obviously got a quite the knowledge of IT and whatnot if you're you know feeding stuff back through you know algorithms and doing speech analysis and stuff like that and playing around with whisper you've obviously got some knowledge in this stuff hey I've always been attracted to computers and computer control it kind of started in the automotive side and kind of crashed into like the smart home control and I got my ham radio license like oh we can do echo link and all-star and I got deep into that like late is this there's a lot of data going through the network right now I wonder if I can capture it well yeah I mean it just kind of fit balls in there a couple Python scripts and now I'm recording audio and transcripts and all that which by the way if you wanted to check that out that that take a seven and you end up dead everything public and available there you've got all great guys that are publicly exposed very very cool man very cool what's your first name again I don't remember emails and stuff yeah my name is Hunter I'm down in Shelton Washington kind of hanging around is the system works perfect as a stress test for all my custom script yes that's right same as our bill out here his son is named Hunter as well cool stuff man welcome to the hobby I don't know if you said how long you've had your license but we're a bunch of a bunch of creative characters around here let's just say that a lot of us around with AI and home automation and different things like that as well so you're definitely in good company around here now like say we do a little little extreme sometimes in the mornings with some of the topics that we discussed but that is a very very that where you can discuss anything on the cowabunga net in the morning so but throughout the rest of the day there's like regular sensible nets on here that you know don't push the limits in the mornings it's all fair game out here well glad to have you on the system man and nice to speak to you you know vocally instead of just in emails and stuff of course my name is Darryl vo1 ukz and Kevin was in there va3 kky and Alan was around there in the background w0 gl who knows who else man this thing is connected to that many countries and links and repeaters and stuff like that I'm using a local repeater here I'm coming in RF on a UHF repeater I'm just using a portable so I don't like text or text boxes or any of that stuff just strictly radio only unless I've got a login to the system and you know mute something or disconnect something or you know some other internal server command but other than that just our after that's how I like it the only UKC background to you Kevin yeah well it's good to have all these projects happening and keep ham radio fresh and interesting for everybody you know one person right there's a whole group behind most of that well anyways yeah some of that's good as far as recollection like if you want to recall something that was said a while ago I guess you know hey you know for years and we recently after several months ago got a turn back on again so it records up or can broadcast to fly 24-7 you can pull up any voice recordings that are there from the to drop in archives without being hooked up through echo you"},{"callsign_confidence":0.98,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-08-20T04:35:59+00:00","id":20004,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":20003,"text":" And I'll be doing that shortly too, but I'll tell you about that in a minute. In the meantime, the Neapolitan flavor, I don't know if it was that flavor advertised on the TV, where you guys remember Carvel's in New York City? And we would get the commercials here in Toronto through their network too. So what would happen is they suggested a type of flavor for the pickiest of all pickiest, and the flavors are layered neatly so you get all of every world individually. And that part of it is true if it's Neapolitan because, I hope I'm saying it right, because it is kind of layered by layer, so each scoop with your spoon, you're going to taste something different. I mean if that's what you like, like I don't know, a salad and ice cream, then hey, that's cool. Yeah, I could probably do another one. In a little while, I've been kind of all in tow to go to McDonald's. Everybody wants McDonald's, but I'm glad to go. That's probably why they told me to. And they wanted me to time it strategically, because sometimes if you do that, you get both breakfast and lunch things. So they kind of gave me an idea of sort of breakfast-y slash lunch-y things that they want too. And yeah, usually if you go to McDonald's, like after 9, 9.30 going into 10, you can get both. Okay, but I'll tell you when I have to anyway, so I'm still here. So back to you Russ, VA3KKY. Or, yeah, I hope I got that right."},{"callsign_confidence":0.98,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-08-21T10:48:00+00:00","id":21036,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":21035,"text":" VA3KKY"},{"callsign_confidence":0.94,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-08-22T05:22:04+00:00","id":21360,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":21359,"text":" Okay, it'll probably be really warm. You know, our summer, the summer in the area I'm in, lasts almost all the way through September. And some of the hottest days of the year oftentimes we experience that because it's just, you know, not over. The water from the whole summer, the ocean, you know, supposed to temper the land, it's still very warm so it's actually at that time of the year it's still keeping everything hot, especially if the air is coming from over the east coast. How did I get off on that? Well, it'll be hot to go out and do a lot of stuff for Labor Day. But I'm sure there'll be some barbecues. I've been getting out once a week to a couple of different lodges and I'll take that as it comes. I'm only just up to what I'm doing this Saturday because it almost looked like it was going to be an open week. But there's pork chop dinner Saturday night that I normally wouldn't have attended that unless it was, you know, they were serving something better than that. But since it's kind of like an open week, I'm going to go ahead and do that. Because the following week, which I think might be Labor Day weekend, that's the big barbecue in Tamarack. So that's what I'll be doing. AA-4HO, run Miramar, Florida, back to Josh in net control. This is repeater station kilo kilo seven, November Quebec November. AA-4HO, KJ5, IOQ. Man, that sounds like pretty good plans. I'll be honest with you. Yeah, it's going to, like I said, meteorologically you and I are not past summer at all. At least you've got a good month and a half, two months to go, I bet you. However, Labor Day is coming and, you know, traditionally that's the end of summer. So those are good plans, I think. You know, I went to the Elks up in upstate New York where my wife's from. Her family were real big into the Elks Club. It's right after I got out of the military. I never joined it or anything, but it was pretty cool to see how that operated. I guess we have stuff like that down here in Texas to an extent, but not here, not rather that. I mean, there's no Elks Club or I forget all the rest of the names. There's other ones, too. We do have a few, like, things like Nat's Pitius. I'm not sure what that is, but we have that. And I'm sure there's some other things, too. Anyhow, good deal, good deal. Kevin, VA3, KKY. What are you doing for Labor Day, my friend?"},{"callsign_confidence":1.0,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-08-10T06:53:13+00:00","id":15759,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":15758,"text":" I'm not saying she is. He was not having to worry about the comet there. And based on a Swarmer comet, he probably, we understand the second comet. OK, so let me go ahead. I just ate some food, and it's all going to my head. So we're going to start the 73 round here with VA3KKY. Like I said, the drop in Michigan is disconnected, so we don't have to worry about going over. So make your comments, but this is the 73 round. So VA3KKY Kevin, go ahead, and I know if she's. Well, I would probably go back to the 40s when they used HF for news broadcasts, because I thought that that was interesting, right? Like when they would use propagation and conditions to be able to get all their world reports. I thought that was interesting as hell, because probably by the time I started growing up in the 70s, I think they phased a lot of that out. You still had little things that happened where in the news you would occasionally hear, OK, well, we have a lot of interference, and we can't get to London today. So here is a communique that will read in its place."},{"callsign_confidence":0.98,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-08-23T05:31:46+00:00","id":22172,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":22171,"text":" There you go. Good for you. Keeping it in the hobby. And that does bring up a question, because I had the question myself when I said charity. We're talking about nonprofits. And I'm not an accountant, so I don't know if all nonprofits are considered charities or not. I'm going to leave that up to you guys to interpret on your own. There is no wrong answer when it comes to that. So thank you for that. That's a good answer. You mentioned, if my local club had a million dollars, I wonder what they would do with it. That would be interesting. Can you imagine being on the board, an officer, and having to decide what you're going to do with that kind of money? That's a bad problem to have, huh? All right. Let's go to Kevin, VA3. KKY. Kev, you've got a million dollars to give to charity. You have to give it all to charity. You can't start the Kev VA3. KKY charity and just give it to yourself. But where is it going to go? Over to you."},{"callsign_confidence":0.94,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-08-23T04:34:54+00:00","id":22126,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":22125,"text":" All right, so here's what we have so far. We have VE1, WIN, Peter, KK4, KKH, In-N-Out Mobile, good morning to you. Thank you for checking in. VA3, KKY, Kevin in Toronto, N9OFU, Bill in Lord knows where, AA4-HO, Ron down in Miramar, Florida, KJ5, IRQ, Josh, KN4, LBF, Dee is with us and I want to formally thank Dee for filling in for me last week. I hope you had a good time, Dee, and if you ever want to do it again, let me know. KC2PKG Gray rounds out the list. Is there anybody else that I'm missing or that wants to get in on the list? If so, come forward with your call sign now."},{"callsign_confidence":0.94,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-08-23T05:34:30+00:00","id":22174,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":22173,"text":" VA3, KKY, KM1X, well you're giving it to an organization that matters most to you I guess is what we're trying to get at. So it would still be a gift from you, if it's going to be a plaque on the wall for a wing or something like that to a building, we'd still have your name on it. But yes, there's plenty of organizations out there in need and so I don't think there's a wrong answer to this question at all. Alright, let's go to Bill, N9-O-F-U. Bill, you got a million dollars to give to a charity and you have to give it all to the charity. You can't spread it out, one charity. What's it going to be? Over to you."},{"callsign_confidence":0.99,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-08-25T04:33:29+00:00","id":24009,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":24008,"text":" The 1WIN3SBX. So we lost a lot of what you said. You did mention your mother-in-law. I think I picked that out. But we'll see if you can boost your signal and we'll get back to you. VA3KKY, how was your weekend, man? And what's your plan for the week? This is KC2PKG. Well, I'm gonna do this one over and then I'm gonna leave the house around 8 and Go out for breakfast I did my work through the night through the midnight and so So I should be fine for a big part of it Yep, I had a lot of fun on the pre-net earlier and I would have volunteered Yesterday only thing is is When we when we were all kind of scattering around I was like I sort of like went back upstairs to my warm comfortable bed, so I was like It was one of those incidences were I pretended that I didn't really know that there was kind of a scuffle At it right Probably if it would have been like 720 And someone said hey, hey we need help with the net I would have I would have came forward with it but nobody said anything all through the pre net so I just assumed that it was in the bag and So yeah before a little bit before 730 while I was still talking to some of the peeps I Decided to go lay down. So that's how that was I'm just saying it isn't like you couldn't ask me but well nobody did and I gave people ample ample ample time I'm there I'm live in color. It's like I couldn't possibly be any more here. So so there you go and I said I Even threw out the hint that I'm not psychic. You got to speak your intentions And so I said every buzzword I knew something to the effect of you guys got it covered You guys got it covered Yeah, but now but seriously though you guys got it covered Would you happen to know would you happen to know if they do the guys got it covered I mean how many 10,000 ways could I have said that I said it on Kevin's joint and Oh and I hadn't forgotten I Can't imagine what the hell game Kevin's cooking up where he says we're gonna divide you guys in the teams So that'll be something to listen to I'll have to make a point of being there So but that's that This is now and so let me bid you a good day. I'll say hi and bye. I'm sorry. I'll miss the question And Undoubtedly, I'm sure there's a puzzle in there somewhere So, I'm sorry that I'll miss that. I'm used to saying You know like when you have a guest or However, you do that, but I guess you haven't I guess you haven't done that with the guests is for a minute So, okay. Hey, take care to the a3kky back to that and Great days"}]}
