Yep, yep, man, I tell you, I am envious this time of year of all you folks up there, especially in the New England area. I don't know, the leaves changing and it just feels different, it hits different. You know, the cold air, when it hits, it has a sharper bite. Like Dee said earlier, it's warm or warmer or hot. I think we get a little bit colder than she does. We do see temperatures quite regularly in the wintertime and in the 30s. That's not uncommon at all. 20s and 10s are far less common, but it does happen. And we do get snow. I mean, I've seen snow, you know, four and a half deep down here. It just doesn't last very long. The ground is too warm. That's why when it snows, it doesn't usually stick. However, when it snows, especially if it snows early in the season, we can get some huge snowflakes, which is really fun. Again, they don't stick, especially that time of the year. But that's about the extent of our winter, other than ice. Now, ice is a different animal for us. Black ice is really dangerous down here. I'm sure everybody deals with it. But because we do get cold enough for it to freeze, yet we don't get the snowiness of winter most of the time, we do tend to deal with ice a lot more than I think a lot of people do. And Oklahoma. Oklahoma deals with it a lot also. Anyhow, okay, Kevin. Thanks, man. We'll come back to you next month for the 73s. We're going to move back over to Bill, November 9th, OFU, and we're going to give him a chance to come join us today. He's been busy, busy, busy. Bill, the mic is yours."},{"callsign_confidence":0.8200000000000001,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-08-22T06:50:11+00:00","id":21437,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":21436,"text":" November 9th, OFU, that'd be Bill, Bill. And yeah, you're right on a lot of what you said. You know, I can't help but think about the redistricting battle going on in Albany, Texas and California. You know, it's funny because Gavin Newsom is saying, hey, Texas is doing this, we're going to retaliate. However, California did it before. And Texas has done it before. And California has done it before. And Texas has done it before. You know, and that's the thing, it's like who started it? Well, does it really freaking matter these days? The fact of the matter is it's been going on. It's always going on. There was a Supreme Court, I've been reading a lot about this lately, the Supreme Court case back in the 60s. There's actually a couple of them if I remember that. But the Supreme Court basically declared that state legislated and the congressional districts have to be roughly equal in population. One person, one vote is the rule. So that one person, one vote. And so since that has happened, it stopped the old way of doing it, which is really worse than what it is today. But it didn't quite end gerrymandering, which is what it's called. And you're right, Trump is not scared to take the battle to him. And that's exactly what it is to him. Ron uses a lot of militaristic terms when talking about it. He's in battle or preparing. And Democrats have done that a lot historically. Also, he used the same type of vocabulary. And it's meant to have that alpha forward mentality. We are in control. And that is what I feel like Trump has been fighting for the Republican Party for. I think that the Republicans are weak, scared, and they don't know how to flat fire with fire. They're used to the conservative values, right? Turn the other cheek, so to speak. Democrats are not like that at all. In fact, they're the polar opposite, in my opinion. They don't mind raging war on a different level. They don't mind putting effort out there and kicking open the door to create change. Both sides are good. And both sides are evil. And yeah, so you're right. Trump is not scared to take it to him. And he's the first Republican that can be said of maybe since Reagan, maybe? I don't know. Anyhow, Darrell, I'd like to get the Canadian perspective, of course. Gray, 73 is to you my friend. 73 is to you Gray. And yeah, I'm going to agree with you. I tell people all the time from a PR standpoint, Trump is an awful president. From a getting crap done standpoint, he pretty dang good. Now whether you're getting it done in the right manner or not, subject to objectivity, I cannot talk this morning. That's subject to your own perspective. I don't think there is a right or a wrong answer to that. Somebody might have done it differently, yes, but we can watch it all day long. He's at least trying to do something about it. So that's where I sat with the Doge thing. It was bad PR. Even if they saved a million dollars, well that's a million dollars less tax money being spent. Once the Doge salaries and all that stuff, the labor and all that stuff is all calculated up, I would be interested to know if we saved or lost money. If we saved it, okay, it was worth it. If we lost it, well, maybe it wasn't worth it. I don't know. But the proof is in the pudding. And I don't think you've seen the pudding being finished being made yet, so we'll have to see how that looks. And that's going to bring us to Bill, November 9th, with you. It is your turn at the mic. Great, I apologize for talking late. You are a fantastic storyteller. It's enjoyable listening to you tell us things like that. I did not know that Maine just doesn't get much snow. That's so fascinating. Oh man, to be able to have a glass of wine and relax for lunch. I don't drink at all. I used to drink too much, we'll put it that way. I quit when my grandson was born. However, he is and how long it's been since I've had a drop of alcohol. It really has changed who I am. But I do miss having a glass of wine. With wine, I could always just do a glass. It was risky that I could never just do a glass or beer. I like to beer pretty much. So I just don't drink. But that's neither here nor there. Bill, you're next. I don't know if you're back yet, but we'll check in with you. November 9th, OFU. This is KJ5IRQ. We've talked a little bit about any plans you might have for Labor Day. And that one popped up, and I remember watching it. I thought, hey, that was helpful. I don't personally have a Sherry. I just have a Raspberry Pi set up as a node. I have my devices that I plan on hooking up to radio ordered, so those should be in soon. But, yeah, I have set up the new ASL3 multiple times. I'm actually pretty fluent in it now, with the new asterisk, updating everything they did on it. So I don't mind helping people with setting up a Raspberry Pi for it if they're using the ASL3 program. If they're using HamVoy or something else, I'm not so familiar with it. Oh, let's see, I am getting cleaned up. It's a Sunday, so I thought I'd spend the day, or at least the morning, making myself look legitimate. I have a head shop that I need to send to Dre and Hal, and I've been putting that off because, well, I'm lazy, and I don't like pictures. But I will give him one at some point today, is my goal. Oh, that's it, man. I don't have any plans today. I'm going to clean up my body, make sure I look presentable for the work week. That's it. I can't make everything else. I wish it was raining here. It did rain a little bit the other day, but we still got another six, well, probably six weeks or so before us. I'm really exhausted in here. However, they said we have an unusually strong cold front blowing in next week. Tuesday, supposed to be like 88 degrees here. That's something we as guys usually trade from like what, ages five to eight. Never leave home without your wallet. That works for me. I don't know if that would work for you, but you might try it. I no longer carry the phone in the wallet. That's one. I have a little RFI, blockers wallet like you were talking about. I've had one for years. So I carry that. But then again half the time I honestly don't carry my wallet these days. I know I'm socially fit, but the whole driver license thing. We are getting ready for it. Okay. Next week, the software that I manage does two major upgrades a year. When I say major, I mean sometimes it's life-altering, it seems like. And one of those is coming up here October 11th, I think is what I scheduled it for. So that means this whole month is basically me and research. Twice a year, I spend a good month to 45 days, twice a year, going through all of our scripts, all of our customizations, all of our custom forms, anything that we've customized inside of our system. I've got to make sure it works with the new upgrade. So I will be doing a lot of that over the next few weeks. I am hoping that with AI, I do plan on leveraging a couple of stacks to do this this time. I plan on using Notebook early on and probably chatTBT since it's the one I already have connected to this. And I'm hoping to use them to leverage and save a lot of time during this. So that will be interesting. Again, it's not fun. It's really monotonous and I don't look forward to it. However, the AI component might make this a little more fun to scroll down. So that is coming up on my to-do list for the next 30 days or so.
