The other topic is, and I should mention that RCA 1802, I believe, was made right here in Lancaster, Pennsylvania at the RCA plant. And I went to a lot of lectures after work. The guys I knew that worked there, I was too young to work there, but attended a lot of lectures about programming the Cosmak ELF. So that was a lot of fun. The other topic is I'm using my mic, the M1KE right now. And I noticed something just today, what's happening with it. About two days ago, I have a clear node, and I had to clear a node on this node. And I forgot all about that, and I turned this mic on. And they were both on the same node. And I thought, oh, I might be screwing something up. And I hurried up and turned the mic off. But today, I just have the mic on. I went out to the web page looking at the bubble map, and it has my call sign, and it says I'm not in the database. And of course, when I use the clear node, it has all my info. So I guess my question is, what is different on the mic? Do I have it programmed in correctly? That it says I'm not in the database. I thought Patrick would be the expert on that. We are overcast at the moment. Haven't seen the forecast as of yet. With that, I imagine if it's overcast and it was like 62 degrees earlier, it's probably not going to get very much. There's currently, I think I've mentioned to you, at one point there's a kind of a nod that comes up with All-Star Nodes, and it's kind of interesting when you have a new product that comes out like this that hasn't really been tested out in the wild to the extent that it probably should be. And these interesting new problems show up, and then us folks who run Nodes and backend servers and things like that have to kind of figure out what's going on, and that's sort of the deal there. Along with that, there is talk right now, there's nothing that anybody can run, but the guy who writes Repeater Phone is apparently working on a beta version, which we don't know when this will come out for even beta testers right now, but he is working on a beta version of Repeater Phone that will allow you to use a Node number rather than just using WT Mode, because if you're familiar enough with how Web Transceives works and some Nodes that you can't necessarily get everywhere with Web Transceives modes, there are Nodes that block that. So more on that when I know more. Okay, very good. So that's it, right? I think that's something that DV Switch does, and I know that's something that they've added to the M1KE to be able to use a Node number with that. Okay, I don't know, 3 or 4 hours ago. Anyway, it doesn't matter but I've been up for a long time and I did talk to, well I think I spent an hour on Morse code to the point where I was tired of sitting in that chair but I did a lot of Morse code and I even talked to another fellow who was running an ICOM 7610 just like I was just down the road from me in Akron, Ohio and I'm in Cleveland. So that was fun and he operates his remote. Anyway, enough on that but we enjoyed chatting and we're all old. Most of us are old people that do the Morse code. He was 82, I'm 78. Anyway and I've been operating a ham radio set since 65 years. I started out with a tube transmitter with Morse code key. Anyway probably more than you want to know but anyway that's what I'm doing now is talking on a high-tech cell phone here. Pretty cool, you can do this. I'm even thinking about buying one of those, if you guys have seen this, there's a little open spot, it's a mic, it's called M1KE and you can buy it by open spot from overseas and it's a deal that just ties right to the internet. You can talk on all the digital modes including this one. Anyway, I'm thinking about trying that. Anyway, back to you there, Josh. I had two breakfasts already, breakfast one and two. We're going to have a third breakfast here later down at the Bay Diner. Anyway, please keep me on the list and I'm rambling so back to you. Have no worry, rambling is what we do around here. Already had two breakfasts and it's been up for hours and CW, man you are an overachiever in the morning. I like mornings but I can't get up and get going like that. It takes me 30-45 minutes I guess to wake up. That includes my morning shower. I have to have a shower, I don't have to, I enjoy taking a shower every morning. It really helps me wake up more than coffee does. Apparently, I missed KV0MAI. Some random person texted me and said, hey, I heard Zoom and I did not. Hi Kevin. Well, I'm doing okay. I'm at the house here. Had a slow morning this morning. First time in a while I woke up with a little bit of a headache and cleared that up. Now I'm checking in here. So I've been playing with my new, I have a new audio digital device called M1KE. It's a hotspot and they have All-Star on there so I may be checking in here via that thing one of these days. Getting fancy. But in the meantime I do have my cell phone. It does work okay on D-Star. I think there's even a way to check in the D-Star to go there from there to here. But anyway, I'll figure, I'll figure that on my vacation to Florida where I have all this time in the sun. Okay, so did my Morse code today and that's my normal report. And boy, that is so much good for me to do Morse code QSO. And I ran to some old friends and then I talked to old friends on single sideband in Colorado. Got a great big end-fed wire antenna that goes 30 feet up in the tree in the oak tree. But anyway, that I even put my amplifier on 600 watts to lift up the neighborhood. Then I did breakfast, one and two. Don't think I, I don't know if I did three or not. I think it's a little bit chubby with all these breakfasts. Anyway, so back in that, please keep me on the list and zero bf. Oh yeah, you'd love All-Stars. You can hear yourself doubling. You can hear others too. And if someone quick keys you can hear that as well. And so it's great. Yeah, you'll love it. I use the hotspot on my phone. So I could say at least that. There's been times it's come handy when I have the laptop and I'm on the subway. I'm going through the Vancouver sewer system. I'm joking. I've tethered other computers to my hotspot before. And it's a newer day with that stuff. Old days, old school. It used to totally jam up your phone and make your phone all hot and everything and slow everything down. They're so more forgiving about it. Now, if you see the Telus and the Bell Canada commercials. Okay, I know you don't. But if you see those commercials here in Canada. In Vancouver we have Telus. In other places they have Bell Canada. And they're priding on the fact that their fiber service can support tons of devices. And people multitasking and running things all at once. Like on the Bell Canada commercials for their fiber network or the commercials for their fiber high speed. You see like a whole family with a whole bunch of kids. And they're all streaming. They've got speakers going. They've got multiple computers going. Basically they're networking. They're just taking the long way to tell you that they're networking. They're just making a big production out of it. Now of course not everybody's house is like that. They're doing the extreme example like the family of nine like I told you that I grew up with. Except we never were like that in our house. That stuff wasn't around. But yeah they're showing you like a house with nine people. I don't know everybody's got ten computers and ten phones running. And they're all watching big items and uploading huge video. Like they're telling you the most extreme situations that aren't even realistic. And that you know get with us because Rogers is whack. I guess that's the short end of it. So yeah and then they tell you the prices sound pretty good. But they always tell you about the retention. Well no not retention. No that's later. The attraction offers. You gotta be careful of attraction offers. You gotta think of the future. The future isn't only the next year. You know what I mean? Then they talk about retention deals. Because people get pissed off when they throw you off of the $35 or the $40 dynamite speed internet that you just signed up for. Right? Because they just gave you free heroin and they're signing you off and you're crying. Okay. Alright. So yeah you need your retention deals. Bell Canada is big on their retention deals. So that was Steve. Steve's in the building. Is there anyone else who would like to check in? We must be cooking with Gus. I haven't even set up the situation yet for the next round. You know I usually get ready to do that. We haven't done that yet. So like Kevin says, we must have been pretty busy on these first hours. So anyone else that would like to get in? We are on the second hour."},{"callsign_confidence":0.9199999999999999,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-12-22T23:55:06+00:00","id":87623,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":87622,"text":"All right, I don't know if this has a timeout timer. I don't think it does. That's the other thing. I got to check and see if mine is set up for timeout timers, but ultimately it wasn't just a reflector or some other Raspberry Pi stuff that these devices latched right onto that IP address, and I literally wouldn't let it go, and I had to clean it up, but literally now I've got all these on those turn on, turn off wall sockets, so I'm able to manipulate to manipulate that. So if I'm not here and somebody says they want to do the reflector and it's not connecting, like John will call me up, KFIYF, then I can say, okay, let me shut it off, turn it back on. Boom, it'll boot right back into the system and it should clean itself up. Anyways, with that in mind, you did hear on the reflector net that Shirley was there and then all of a sudden when I called her again on the reflector, she wasn't there was she got in contact with me via text today message and I found out that her I thought her batteries went out on the m1 ke that was Keith's no not the case I think you've heard before were that Keith needed to have it repaired because he pushed too hard on the push to talk button and broke it I think really did the same thing so I got John involved with us to try and help out to fix that problem so hopefully we'll get her back on the air and then I have to to help her get her DMR ID and D-Star ready so we can start transferring her call sign into all those radios that Keith have. Let me break again. Actually, I'll just go back to you for comments. This is repeater station kilo, kilo seven. November, Quebec... Yeah, KV0WMA from W8S set up. Yeah, I've got those Wi-Fi plugs as well. I use TAPO, or or you might pronounce them as Tate, Otango, Alpha, Papa, Oscar. They work quite well. They didn't take over before, but they did remind me of something. My ISP normally does router software updates in the middle of the night and they did one a couple of nights ago and you know, they just go through without no problems whatsoever. They actually screwed up my port forwarding file. I do have a whole backup of everything when I have a chance to put it back in. Yeah, if I want to echo link on the RMB7IFM-SL, I can receive perfectly, but when I go to transmit, it doesn't go through the echo link bridge. Of course, that's fine. I got to go and redo, restore the backup, and that should hopefully fix everything, I haven't got round to doing it because everybody's using the internet here. So I might do that if I'm awake in the early hours of the morning and everybody else is asleep or not playing on the internet. So yes, I do remember Keith breaking the M1KEPTT. So it looks like Shirley's in the same. Oh dear, dear, dear, dear. And still can't believe that we've lost Keith there as well there, Paul. So sad, but unfortunately, those things happen, but it's great to hear Shirley on the air. That's for sure, and yes, you'll have to sort that out with everything and all the radios. I'm actually surmising that Keith has loads and loads and loads of different radios for all over the place as well. It's not going to be taking a little bit of time to start them all out there with Shirley's call and DMR ID. I'm not sure if you had an All Star note. I don't know that one. I never did check. So I assume you're going to go there and bring home some goodies. You can't go to a Hamfest without bringing at least a PL259 home, and usually a lot more, that's for sure. So I wonder if you've got your eyes on anything specific there, Robert. Oh, and how did you find the M1KE after the firmware update for the Echo Link? link. I've heard a few people having a few problems with the audio and stuff like that. But I do believe, I find memory system exactly, if I entered a loudness setting in it, or will change some default or something like that, I can't remember. But you're probably aware of that anyway. The other thing is it does just a direct connection into Echolink which means if you\u00edre on a mobile phone it won\u00edt unless you put that mobile phone into a VPN and then it will work with that mobile phone. So that's the trick that you have to do to make Echolink on the M1KE work when it's tethered to a mobile phone and that does work, I've used that. But I find that the iPhone is better for Echolink still. The M1KE is still working on that and so that's it. I'm just about to Google how tall the Martin Place tree is here so if you give me a second, Martin Place Christmas tree. I can tell you in a second here. There we go. It is 25 meters tall and is decorated with over 110,000 lights and 330 bubbles. So there you go. That's the statistics. That's It's a pretty big tree, actually.
