And so I'm going through them now, checking them out to see if my input is correct. That's like hundreds of inputs. And there's a few errors in my spreadsheet. And I think tonight is one of them, actually. In taking a harder look, I think the net I'm looking for is on a Friday at 6 PM, not a Monday. So that's my story. Back to you. Oh, boys, the Skyhub Link net, Monday night net, 9 PM Eastern, out of Colorado. I don't think they've changed their time. They've been pretty consistent here on Do Drop In for quite a number of years. And I think that the net still goes on. Might just be something happening tonight. So you need to still use it off your schedule just yet. If you're interested in the nets we carry here on Do Drop In, you can check out dodropin.info. And all of the nets there are scheduled, and everything is listed on the website. That's dodropin.info, V-O-N-U-K-Z. All right, very good, sir. I think I'm going to go there right now and check it out. And see if my Friday is wrong, if it should be Monday, or what the case is. But I'll come back. Maybe there is some problem tonight. So I won't cross it off my list. Thanks very much. I appreciate it. K-N-6-U-Y-Z. Hey, Officer. We're only having a little time. I'm still going to stand by. I'm not losing hope yet. That's too bad. Um, okay, well, I'm just a meatloaf lover in the house, so we're gonna go to Josh. KJ5IRQ Josh. B-loaf. Do you like it? Do you make it? How do you make it? This is KC2PKG. This is Repeater Station Kilo 7, KJ. I would like to know who actually eats meatloaf. Kilo is nasty. I mean, it's filled with crap like meat. And binders. And spices. Oh, wait. Meat. I'm the people. I love meatloaf. I, uh, actually, I don't even care for the meatloaf when it's cooked. I'll eat it, mashed potatoes and all that. Cool, whatever. Man, it's the next day. I'm telling you, that's where it's at. Meatloaf sliced up, served on some bread. Where it's at. Especially if you have a little bit of, you know, gravy and a little bit of mashed cabbage. I do the same thing on Thanksgiving, though. The next day on Thanksgiving, I usually make me a Thanksgiving sandwich. And it's gonna have turkey and cranberry and stuffing. And, yeah, it's just one big nasty sandwich. Man, it's so... Meatloaf. Yes, we do have meatloaf here. And it's different to anyone who makes it. My last cooks are completely different than how I do. I do two versions. One's a gourmet version and one's just an everyday version. The everyday version, I either get really good ground beef or I buy a chuck roaster and make it myself. There's a texture thing involved with meatloaf, I think. I also don't just use generic breadcrumbs on it. My life almost always has some sourdough bread around here somewhere. So we drive that out and we make the breadcrumbs out of that. But what I do in mine, I think a lot of people do, maybe not on this match. At least here, in my neck of the woods. We're moving our meatloaf together. We've got our meat in our binders and spices. Bell peppers and onions. It's already been softened. Sometimes I grill them and then I'll saut\u00e9 them a little bit. Get that char built into it. Lay all those profiles. And, yeah, we'll get that whole sucker mixed together. And then what I do is I'll hollow out the center and put some cheese in there. And I'll cover it up with some more meat, you see. So basically I made a meatloaf pocket for cheese. But it doesn't end with that. No, no sir. I like to go one step further. And I'll throw that sucker on my smoker. If you've never had smoked meatloaf. Now, I'm not saying liquid smoke. I've used that in the past and it works to the pitch. But it's a poor substitution for a good smoked meatloaf. Unfortunately, this day and age, eating smoked really kind of hurts my digestive track. But that's one of those things that I'll have. Gosh, I'll probably don't make meatloaf like that twice a year maybe. It's a lot of work. But, man, I'll tell you what. It is the best meatloaf. And I also kind of like Dell. I don't use ketchup. We make a barbecue sauce and it's a simple barbecue sauce. We make it for chicken, for everything basically. And we use that. So, yeah, there you go. KJ5, IOKU, back to the neck control. I'm not a big fan of smoked things, but that sounds really good. KJ5, IRQ, this is KC2, PTG. All right. We will move on to KN6, UYZ. Do you like meatloaf, John? And do you make meatloaf? Or what is your favorite meatloaf? What about you? Uh, lost your name. Okay. KN6, UYZ. This is KC2, PKG. Uh, good morning again, KN6, UYZ. Yeah, I like meatloaf a lot. Although I've never made it in 77 years. Uh, because I don't really know how. I don't really know much about spices and things like that. Uh, I guess my favorite way of having it would be the way my mother used to make it. However that was. So, I guess I like meatloaf. Uh, but, uh, what, barbecue sauce on the top? Yeah, I'm sure that would be tasty, and I would be happy to eat that. Especially with some mashed potatoes. But, uh, the way I was used to it was with some kind of ketchup, uh, flavoring on the top. So that would be my preferred way to go. So I don't have anything that interesting, I just don't make it. Never have anything that interesting about it. I don't want to have any of that. Uh, I'll tell you what that is. I'm going to get a little bit of a good slice of meatloaf. Uh, I've got a little bit of a good slice of meatloaf. And, uh, I've got the chicken and the chicken. I just don't make it, never have, but if somebody wants to invite me over, I'll be happy to come and eat it for you. KN6UYZ, back to Nat. Beep. KN6UYZ. All right, we gotta take her. If you got extra meat, we'll invite John over. This is KC2PKG. Oh, and you got my mind to whirl. Josh, with the meatloaf sandwiches, they really are good. They really are good. That used to be my first wife's favorite thing in the world was meatloaf sandwiches. And you really have to work on the body of the loaf itself, so it can be sliced very, very thin. And that takes a little extra binding to make it work like that. All right, Chuck, AA4HI. Hey, loaf, do you like it? Do you make it? And if you do, how do you make it? This is KC2PKG. Beep. You know, Cory, I'm not a big fan of meatloaf. It's okay. But it's not my favorite food. Well, I mean, maybe my wife maybe makes it a couple times a year, and never in the summer. You know how it is here. I don't see anything like that in the summer. At least me, I don't. So I don't really go crazy when I hear it's being cooked. I'm like, okay. I don't think it's wonderful, so to speak. But anyway, that's the way it goes. What do y'all like, what was it like? So I'm great, I don't like it. With some ketchup on top, onions, and whatever else is in it. But I don't know, I really am not like cheese. I can't wait to eat it. So I probably went on to the first one who says I really just don't like meatloaf. Anyway, back with you, AA4HI. Beep. Ah, we got one. AA4HI, this is KC2PKG. I was waiting for somebody to say I really don't like meatloaf. So you won the prize, gold star for you. All right, Terry, MM0RKN. Meatloaf, do you make it, do you like it? Is it different in Scotland somehow? We'd love to know all your thoughts about meatloaf. So this is KC2PKG, over to you, MM0RKN. Beep. Beep. We'd use lean scotch beef mince, three rashers of bacon, finely chopped, an onion, finely chopped, carrots, tomato, and some herbs would be put in there as well. Maybe like chives or parsley or something. And you'd have three tablespoons of fresh bread. And it would be put into a baking tin. Just cook, you can slice it into nice slices. It's perfect for sandwiches as well. So yeah, that's how the traditional Scottish meatloaf is there today. MM0RKN, back to net control. Beep. MM0RKN, this is KC2PKG. That sounds good. That sounds like a recipe that would work. You know, there's two basic philosophies I've noticed for meatloaf. You can have meatloaf with gravy and potatoes, or you can have meatloaf with ketchup. And I've never seen the two put together, but the philosophy up here in Maine, where we go, the meatloaf has gravy on it, tons of it, and lots of potatoes. So meat and potato cake. But when I was growing up, it was sliced much finer. It had ketchup on it, there's the eight, it had ketchup. November, Quebec, November. All-star notes, please use. And so just a totally different thing. Some people put them in a loaf sheet, and some people put them on a baking sheet, a rimmed baking sheet, and they just leave it open, a mound. That's how my son does it. And either one works, either one works. Okay, Bill, N9OFU. Meatloaf, we're talking meatloaf here. Do you like it? Do you make it? And if so, how? This is KC2PKG. All right, well, no, I don't make it. And my wife doesn't make it. So if I eat it, the only chance I get to eat it is if I find it out in the wild. I use a bow and arrow, shoot it, take it down. You know? No, but there's Chuck's Up, Flying J, and Pilot. They all have meatloaf. And every now and then, I'll grab one of their slices of meatloaf, you know, get it with potatoes and vegetables. And it comes with a red paste on it, either ketchup or something. Similar, maybe I have tomato paste, but I think it's probably more ketchup. I think my mom used to make it when I was a kid, because I seem to recall having it when I was a kid. But other than that, it's just being able to grab it. Sometimes when I'm out on the road and I get a hankering for it, I remember, every now and then I might find a buffet that has some meatloaf as one of the items on there. So I usually grab some of that too. But that's what I know about meatloaf. I don't eat it. It's not something I go out of my way for that I have to have, but I don't mind it. It's a fine meat-like substance that I do enjoy eating from time to time. All right, back to you. Oops, sorry, sorry. Also, the other last question. I remember my mom had gotten a screen door, a wooden screen door from someone who moved and it didn't fit her door. So it was my chore to take that thing and make it fit. So I had to do some trimming here and there, then add some stuff on the bottom to keep the bugs out. I totally forgot about that. So I was proud that I was able to get that put together and up for her and her mobile home there in Casa Grande. Back to you. N90FU, this is KC2, PKG. It's interesting, because I just finished retrimming a screen door to fit in a very, very old porch where everything is warped. So we used a spring and a wire to pull it tightly closed. Come on, because screen doors aren't much fun if they've got big cracks around them. All right, KM4QVC Jeff Meatloaf, we're talking Meatloaf. Do you like it? Do you have it often? Do you not make it? And if you do, then how do you make it? This is KC2, PKG. KC2, PKG, KM4QVC. Josh was talking about she just bakes it to that right, I don't know, it's kinda crispy around the edges a little bit, and then ketchup on top. So I think she puts that on there because she gets it out. Anyway, I love it, I love it. And later that same day, we used that for supper. I'll make the sandwich with a little mayo, white bread, and just a touch more ketchup. So yeah, man, I'm all about it for KM4QVC. All right, another big vote for Meatloaf. This is KC2, PKG, thank you very much, KM4QVC. And we'll try Ralph again, see if he's out there. Hey, YQJ, do you like Meatloaf, Ralph? And do you make it? We'd love to know how you make it. This is KC2, PKG."},{"callsign_confidence":0.94,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-08-04T06:43:44+00:00","id":13997,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":13996,"text":" All right. Sorry, sorry. I was, uh, declining a phone call. Uh, I guess the cat's sort of out of the bag. Today's my birthday. Don't make a big deal of it. I hate birthdays. They're just another day. But my mama calls me every year and, uh, tells me the story of the birth in 1980. The hottest... I don't know if it's still the hottest on my record. I think it is. The hottest record on the record in Texas. Uh, I don't know. I get a story every year. Anyhow, yeah, it's just a big... Uh, but that's why I don't like going back to you. Uh, what is common sense? Man, that is a great question. And it's going to change depending on who tells you what common sense is. Because there's no set definition, I don't think. Uh, I mean, there may be guidelines, but, I mean, my common sense, in general's common sense, are two totally different common senses. You know, if we hail common sense, it'll jump on the snowmobile or his quad and go to the store. That's not common sense here because I'd get pulled over and probably get a ticket. Uh, so, yeah, common sense is different, I think, depending on who's defining the common sense. But I would say that it's sound judgment. I think sound judgment is a good way to put it. Um, I think it's derived from experiences, it's derived from book learning. Um, I don't think you gain common sense from learning anything educationally in the mindset of books or in structured learning. I think common sense is something you pick up as you go. Some people pick it up faster than others. I think that's a very big point to make. Um, some examples I had written down. Okay, uh, wait for people to exit an elevator. I'd drive me nuts to get on the elevator, uh, and I'm standing on the elevator trying to get off and people are rushing to get on. It's like, yo, wait a minute, let me get off and that's going to give you more room. Common sense, right? Uh, looking for a reason to cross the street. I would consider that common sense. Uh, checking the weather forecast to see if you need an umbrella or not. Pretty common sense-like thing. Um, I wrote down a four or five other ones. Uh, here's a good one. Avoiding your phone during important meetings. Uh, and I would probably push out on not only meetings but interviews or anything else along the way. You know, just basic common sense. Don't play electricity while it's raining outside if you're outside. Uh, disconnect your antenna if you have no safety protocols built in place so that if lightning hits it, it doesn't fly everything in your house. So those are the common sense type things that I think of. And again, I think it's very ambiguous. I can't say that word very well. Um, to a lot of people. I hope that gave you an inkling of, I don't know, common sense with that. Um, oh, hey, and let's say if you really need a gig understanding Greek common sense by Thomas Paine. KJ5-IRQ, back to neck control. Alright, KJ5-IRQ. This is KC2-PKG. Great big description. You seem to hint. It is a result of experience as Daryl did. So that's two pretty experiential things. And everybody and his brother is now asking AI what common sense is. Um, A8-4-H-O. What do you think common sense is, Ron? And do you have an example for us? So what are you? A8-4-H-O. This is a common sense. A8-4-H-O. This is KC2-PKG. Yeah, I've had to take quite a few exams in my time. And you're not going to get through them if you think, you know, the answers to the questions require that you have a lot of common sense. I mean, you really got to know the material. Otherwise, you know, training and experience helps a lot with great instincts. And then you can say, well, I have good common sense. For an example, you know, my stock trading. There's a lot that goes into that. And somebody just getting into it, they tend not to do well at first. So common sense would tell you that you should get some training before you get started. Instead of rushing right into it. So that's how I view common sense. And a few examples. I don't have any more right now offhand. So I'm going to give it back to you. A8-4-H-O. Ron, Miramar, flood. A8-4-H-O. This is KC2-PKG. Okay? Okay, that wasn't too bad. K-N-6-U-Y-Z. John. Common sense. What do you think it is? And the other example. This is KC2-PKG. K-N-6-U-Y-Z. Well, the only example that I have that comes to mind is don't walk in front of an oncoming train. That seems to be common sense to me. But I think more importantly, I went to the internet on it. And I saw a couple of definitions. One that."},{"callsign_confidence":1.0,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-08-04T05:20:33+00:00","id":13978,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":13977,"text":" KN4 at OBS, this is D. Is it in Asia? Uh, let's see, let's find that most efficient way to narrow this down, huh? KJ5, IRQ. If it's, uh, going to my countries would take a while. Golden continents would be quicker. Uh, there's only seven of them. And I think we can probably rule out and on it, huh? Or it might be a good one to pay for it, would you? Um, so that's gonna leave six contacts. So we can't really do it by a climate because it almost sort of gets hot and almost sort of gets cold. Yes, contacts are probably, that's probably the easiest way. Um, let's go with, uh, oil in Europe. Is it a place in Europe? No, it is not. It is not in Europe. That was the third question and we go to Ron, AA4HL, what is your question, Ron? Okay, uh, is it related to a country? It is definitely related to a country. To a country. Alright, so it's not in the US, it's not Asia, not Europe. And it is related to a country. AA4HI, what is your question? Chuck, what is your question? Is it in Oceania? Oh, New Zealand and Australia, that area. No, it is not in Oceania. I hardly ever hear anybody say that. Yes, it definitely qualifies as a desert-like place. Alright, and then we go to Bill, N90FU. Oh, yeah, you got it on key. Alright, excuse me, so it's a desert-y, is it somewhere in the Middle East? Is it in the East? Is it in the East? Is it in the East? Desert-y, is it somewhere in the Middle East? Yes, it is, it is in the Middle East. Alright, we move on down to Jeff Cam for QBC. It was something very simple, but I am proud of it. When my parents died, they had this Asian 3D face made of porcelain. It's about two feet long and one feet wide. And I'm looking at it. And through the years, it's about 75 years old right now, it looked like it needed a little uplift. So the figure on top hat is a female, and it had a crown on top of her head. And I repainted the crown gold and just her sleeve gold. And the retouch was amazing. It just made an amazing improvement how it looked. And I'm just looking at it right now. And I'm pretty proud of it. Back to you, Gray. This is KN4LBF. KN4LBF. This is KC2PKG. Porcelain. Have you repaired or restored porcelain? That sounds very hard. It really does. And the fact that you painted it and you're proud of it, that's great. That is great news. Josh, PJ5IRQ, what's something that you either repaired or restored that you're particularly proud of the job you did? This is KC2PKG. Open to you, Josh. PJ5IRQ. KC2PKG. This is KJ5 on cue. Something I would have had that I'm particularly proud of, oh, gosh, I remodeled a house before. That was pretty cool. I'd say I remodeled houses around here. And the houses are houses, I should especially clarify that. I've repaired a lot of things. KitchenAid. My wife loves the KitchenAid mixer. And all year after we bought our, I think it was our second one, it went out like the first one. I was getting really frustrated with it. So I did some digging around. And it's the brushings. I don't know why I didn't think about that with the first one. I fell a fool because I threw the first one away for like $20. I got to replace the brushings and kept the first one. I replaced the KitchenAid with some good brushings. And gosh, it's been years. And it's still working just fine. She uses it all the time. That was personally a good fix. KitchenAid mixes, you know the cream and galakop, at least that's what I was really concerned. There ain't no point in paying more money than that for something that does the same thing. Let's see. I do have a project coming up. As soon as it starts cooling off into the fall, rather I want to be outside all day every day. We have an old family bench. Joseph E. Ford built this bench. Not that y'all would know him, but he happened to be one of the first people in the Middle of Wales to open the store. And she's got to give you an idea how old this bench is. I have an actual picture of him in this last sitting on it. It is 1888. It's over the rock. It was my grandparents, of course. It got passed down to me. And it's an old, bad shape. I mean, it is a bad shape. But we're going to look into repairing it. I want to keep it as original as possible with as much wood as possible. So I may end up using clear epoxy or something to fill in some voids. But the idea is to bring it back to a shade of a swirly void. I can't tell you how many seeds of the fence people in my family have sat in that bench over the years. I mean, if some of them could tell a story, wouldn't you love to sit and have that word pour out the stories since, at least in my family since the late 1880s? Man, talk about an explosion of lighting ideas. Anyhow, yeah, so that's coming up. That bench, I'm really excited about it. The only thing I don't know is who gets it after me. I've got two boys and a daughter. And it's always stayed with somebody with a last name before it. So I'm sure it will stay with my boys. And I sure it won. And so I'm going to see who ends up at the house in a safe place for it. And that's probably who will get it. Sorry, I had to reset for a second. I was running out of time. Anyhow, that's it. I'll send it back to you, KJ5. I'll help you back to KG2PKG. KJ5 IRQ, this is KG2PKG. A bench, a family bench. That sounds cool. That sounds cool. I'd love to see a picture of that. KI7ODD, I see you in the text box. You want to give it a shot now? Tell us how your weekend was. Maybe tell us about something you restored or repaired that you're particularly proud of. Over to you, KI7ODD. This is KG2PKG. This is better now. This is KI7ODD. KI2KC2PKG. I actually am thinking, let me think. Oh, yeah. I restored stuff before that. My squeaky here is my fan. It just squeaks, squeaks, squeaks. So don't worry about that. I should have read this text thing. Ah, never again. All right, I hope my audio's better. I'm sorry about earlier. It was my rig. I need a new one. I need a new rig. Gosh darn it. All right. What I did yesterday was I was thinking about beading, playing with my, getting my crafting done. I did some sewing last weekend, but this weekend I am going to go on and be at the Idaho State Convention for ham radio this year, which is going to be awesome. I hope I get the 7800 icon. I hope I get it. Just hopefully I can get it this time. I don't, I don't. I can't, I couldn't even sleep last night. Sorry about that interference earlier. All right, have a good day guys and gals. Okay, this is KI 7 ODD, Murray in Spokane, Washington. KI 7 ODD, I'm Murray. That's pretty good. That's pretty good. That, your audio sounded fine. That time it was perfect going through there. So I've got you on the list. We'll be hitting you again. And Steve, N0BF, I've got you on the list too. We're just going to keep working down the way we're doing it. DA 4 HO. Ron, is there something that you repaired that you are particularly proud of? So what do you do? A4 HO, this is KC 2. Yeah, you know, you might remember me talking about, you know, when I redid the bathroom and the shower, I put caulking and you're supposed to put silicone on it, and I put silicone on it. And I put silicone on it. And I put silicone on it. And I put silicone on it. And I put silicone on it. And I put silicone on it. And I'm supposed to put silicone. And then I, you know, when it started leaking underneath, I had to get all of that out and redo it and put silicone in there. But that's really nice. You know, I got granite top on the, you know, the sink, new sink and toilet, completely new shower. And it's really nice. I did the water heater and the copper pipe I had left over, I made myself a UHF antenna that I use with my All Star Network. Whenever I'm on my mobile rig or HT and I'm on All Star, the signal goes through the antenna before you hear me on here if I was to do that. And I got one of those nano-VNA's to make sure, you know, it was resonant at the right frequency. That I needed it at. All kinds of things. The vehicle I drive now is new. The one before that, even though this was an upgrade, it had all of the features because I put in a lot of aftermarket stuff. The GPS I added and a whole mess of things. The side rails to step into it. Of that I do, but I didn't have to do that with this last vehicle I just bought. You know, because it came with it all. But I did install and put the automatic garage door opener in. And that I'm pretty proud of. It works really good. Now I just drive up to the house and I don't even go out the front door anymore when I take the car. You know, it's in and out through the garage. The door opens, pull the car in, door goes down, come in through the garage now. If I think about it, there's a lot of stuff. Except for the stuff, you know, I don't have the tools for it. I have to pay somebody to do it. AA4HO, Ron Nirma, Florida, back to you, Gray and Nick. AA4HO, this is KC2PKG. And it is all the something with the house. You know, I lived in a house in Morristown for 30 years. And I can't tell you how many weekends I spent either under the car or working on the house or cleaning up that yard. It was just endless, endless. I'm so glad to be out of that. Because I don't like any of that stuff. As it turns out, it's kind of fun to create things. It's kind of fun to repair places. But when you're doing it in all your free time, I built a car there. An Aztec 7 from FiberFab, which goes on a Volkswagen chassis. And that would best two years of my life. I'm never going to get back. I went to sleep, because it's fiberglass, I went to sleep crunchy every night. It was just terrible. My wife hated it. Alright, KN6UYZ. What have you repaired or restored that you're particularly proud of? Okay, John, this is KC2PKG. Over to you. KN6UYZ, thanks so much for having me as usual. Yeah, you know, in 1970 I bought a Corvette. And, you know, come around 1974 or 5, the car needed a great job. And so I decided to take care of it myself. And jacked up each tire individually at the house. And decided I'd grab a screwdriver and place it between the calipers and the rotors and pry the brakes apart so I could insert a new pad on all four wheels. Well, that worked great. Good job. Padded myself on the back. I took off in that car and next thing I know, I know, the brakes were pushing all the way to the floor. I had to have that car towed back to the dealership and it cost me $1500 in 1975 to have that brake job done properly. Apparently you're supposed to relieve the pressure in the system, in the brake fluid system because I didn't do that before pulling everything apart and losing the, and I blew the seals and all the pistons. And this is a dual caliper system. And it was very expensive. I don't know what $1500 in today's money might be, but it was a problem. So with the exception of not being proud about my brake job, yeah, that's one of my better jobs. Back in that K and 6 UYZ. K and 6 UYZ. Boy, that brought back memories. This is KC2, PKG. I used to always do my own brakes and all of that stuff. And what it leads to is you're driving down the highway two states away from your house and you're thinking to yourself, did I put that spring back in? In the left rear tire? Did I put that spring in? Those were my thoughts after working on my car almost every single time. I was like, I don't remember. And of course, the first brake takes three hours. And the second one takes two hours. Third one, you know, takes about an hour and a half and the fourth one is over so fast you can't remember if you put the spring in or not. It just gets better and better as you go around. Alright, AA-4HI. Chuck, what have you restored or repaired that you are particularly proud of? It's over to you Chuck, AA-4HI. This is KC2, PKG. This is repeater station key low. We had some heads up and some chairs and last night I had to figure that out. And it took a long time. A lot of winter to get on the fingers. It's just about all done. And I want to do it again now. I can understand why people charge so much to do it. You know, time and of course it's just too easy to work. But, um, you have to wear your guns, you know. It just takes a while to do things. Yeah, it is. Anything you're rushing through sometimes it's just not going to be the way you expected it. So, um, anyway, same with the old antennas I like to try out, to build. I mean, you just have to think about it, give it a shot. If not, repurpose it. But, uh, the chairs I think are the best thing where you're wrong. So, what I've done in handling them, they took a long time. They done, throughout the summer just working on them. You know, when she was out. So, uh, anyway, that would be it. Back on to you, AA4-HI. AA4-HI, this is KC2-PKG, Wicker work. That's weaving, weaving with Wicker. That is a big job, especially if you've never done it before. Because you have to figure out what the pattern is. And then kind of trace it back. And a lot of those things, as I remember, the Wicker is fastened with a wooden peg. You know, it goes in, you put the Wicker in the hole and then you pound it in a little piece of wood to hold it there. Yours may work differently, but the ones that I worked on, that's what you had to do. And you had to get that peg out first. Um, it's not specialized, but it is trying. It's very trying, I think. MM0RKN, Gary, when you repaired or restored, you think you did a pretty good job on. It's KC2-PKG over to MM0RKN. MM0RKN returning. Well, Gary, very frequently, I have to repair and restore Lego figures that have broken various Lego models. Cabs, trucks, DAF, radar, all sorts. So quite good at fixing those when they've been knocked over or accidentally dropped. So frequently, do not a bad job of getting them back together. But on another note, I really enjoy restoring Kenny Oak furniture. One thing that I did was an ottoman, many years ago, not enough. But it was one of these ottomans that would store, you know, bed sheets and that could be at the end of the bed. And it was very old, and it seemed better days, but I actually managed to sand it all down, repainted it all, then put a nice kind of fabric, soft cushion on top, and managed to turn that into a sort of storage box come window seat. So that was one of my things that I was quite pleased about in the past. But recently, not so much time really to do a lot of repairing and restoring. I was going to put it in front of my son's PC. He said that I had to play one of his games, and I couldn't get it fixed, so I basically had to do a complete refresh of his laptop. I think he's overloaded it with too many DLCs. So we're going to go back to the start again. So yeah, I'm repairing that. Hopefully I'll do a good job. MM0RK in. Back to you there, Gray in the net. MM0RK in. This is KC2PKG. That's what I used to do for a living. Put people's workstations back together. After they just put something dumb on it, or they had a problem of some kind or another, reallocating memory, and all of that stuff. I'm glad I don't do that anymore. I really am. Alright. Bill, N9OFU, what have you repaired or restored? Do you think you did a pretty good job on it? Over to you, Bill. N9OFU. This is KC2PKG. Alright, I've been trying to think, trying to think, trying to think. And most of the things I'm coming up with is just, you know, things I've put together, you know, like furniture, you know. I love Ikea. Some of that's been pretty intricate when you get into some of these. I'm trying to think. Like the, well the cabinets, I don't know if the cabinets, but the drawers and stuff. Getting all that lined up properly and put together when it's got, you know, two or three different sections, an open section. I'm trying to remember, I know I've done my repairs or in battle. It always seems like something needs to be fixed, put together, or repaired at the house. But nothing really stands out that I really floated over. It's just, you know, it needs to be fixed to fix it. And that's all I can think of at this time. Sorry, I'm just not coming up with anything. Alright, N9OSU. Not to worry about it. KC2, PKG. Bringing that Ikea stuff together, I found one of the neatest tricks was to take the Allen wrench that they give you and saw it off, saw the curved part off, the bend in it off, and then put it in a drill or a driver. And then things go much faster. I'm turning that little Allen wrench. Alright, KM4QBC. You do a lot of repair and restoration, Jeff. Council, what's one project, or two if you want, that you're particularly proud of, that you really think you did a great job? It's over to you. KM4QBC. This is KC2, PKG. KC2, PKG, KM4QBC. Well, great. One thing that came to mind, my wife and I both worked on this, like Josh was talking. My grandpa's old house was a really neat place for me to hang out. I had a CB radio in there. That's before I got into ham radio. Anyway, long story short, the old house was just a plank-mored house, you know, back in the mountains. And a big tree fell right through the middle of it, so we salvaged what we could out of it. And I got all the windows and doors. And my wife and I, I still got a bunch of windows that are the way of the house when I first got them, but we sanded these window panes down into the old six panes. They got six panes in them, and you know, the glazing and all that. So we redid those and repainted them, and we put pictures of our family in there and hung them on the wall. So we're really proud of those, and it's really a special thing. Plus our Volkswagens. My son and I are working on an old bug now, so pretty proud of that one. That's you, Gray. That's a couple. This is repeater station Kilo Kilo 7 November-November. I thought you were led with the Volkswagens. Is that the one you're working on now? Is it the black bug? Back to you just for a second here. KN4QBC. The black one was actually done by somebody else, but you know, a Volkswagen's clear there's always something in there to work on. So, excuse me, we have done a little work on the motor, done a little work on the interior. Used to touch it up to make it a little better than it was, you know. So the next thing I'm going to do is just a little more work on the motor. I'm thinking I'm going to put a new carburetor on there and probably a new Kilo. So, just to make it a little sharper, because I'm going to start driving it to work this time of year, when hopefully it starts to cool down. And next month or so, after August anyway, I'll be driving it to work in the day and in the night. Can't drive that thing in the summertime, it's just so hot. You can drive it in the evening some, but it's just so hot here in the summer. It's hard to drive in that time of year, but it's fun at certain times, but when it gets up at about night and you're in that thing, you're like being in a sauna, I guess. You can't wear the work clothes down the road and be all sweaty and going into work there. Anyway, back to you, KN4QBC. KN4QBC, Volkswagen repair guy. It's good. I think Volkswagens are really cool. And I could kick myself for when I finally ended up in a car that I didn't have a Volkswagen van. I mean, they're the coolest. They really are. And I think back on that time I was thinking, oh man, I went out of the hotel room. Wherever I went, you know, I didn't need to sleep inside, I could sleep in a car. Which is a fun thing when you're a kid to do. Maybe not so much now. Any of YQJ, Ralph, are you out there? We're asking people what is a project that they've worked on where they restored or repaired something and they're particularly proud of it. Ralph, hey, YQJ, over to you."},{"callsign_confidence":1.0,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-08-04T06:56:55+00:00","id":13998,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":13997,"text":" It is sound and prudent judgment based on a simple, I thought simple was important, a simple perception of the situation of facts. I sort of liked that. And then the other one I sort of liked was the common sense, this is from Wikipedia actually, is more or less universal, which a universal thought that is held more or less without reflection. So apparently it's something you don't have to, or not supposed to have to think about. It's just something that comes to you or that you have. So I don't know, is that pretty dry information? Well, that's the best I could come up with. KN6UYZ, this is my 73 round. I'm gonna go back to sleep. Thanks everybody. This is repeater station Kilo Kilo 7, November Quebec November. KN6UYZ, well have a great rest there buddy. And thank you for joining us, really appreciate it. All right, we move on down to Chuck, AA4HI. Chuck, define common sense for me and give me an example if you can. This is KC2PKG. I agree, AA4HI. I guess common sense is, to me, is not only understanding how to do, you have to be able to implement it, I guess is what I'm saying. You know, being extremely smart. But the smallest things, you know, not being able to understand. Because I really can't think of anything any better than what someone else has said. But I guess you always think about someone as really smart, but I don't know. It's very difficult for them to do simple tasks. And I don't even know if that's even a fair assessment, but you know, because all I've got is from years of someone saying someone doesn't have common sense. But I think a lot of people have common sense. You know, a lot of people, as we know, are not all geniuses, but they can work with their hands and figure problems out and have a lot of good reasoning skills, you know, with other people. I think that's important. I think that has a lot to do with common sense too. Instead of just being directly by the book, being able to talk to someone and explain to them what's going on. That's what I guess it is to me, Gray. Back on you, A4-John. A4-HI, this is KC2PKG. Yeah, it's something beyond being book smart. Chuck seems to be hinting. We used to have a lot of people who had taken every test, knowing the man in the computer business, and yet they had a lot of trouble applying that knowledge. And they did because they didn't sort of have a sense of how everything fits together. That's my example anyway. All right, Carrie, MM0RKN. Tell me what common sense is. And if you have any examples, I'd love to hear them. This is KC2PKG. MM0RKN, I think common sense is something that you kind of develop as you navigate the world. You get more and more of it as you mature, let's say, squat. And as you mature, you get better at it. And I think I worked on myself when I was younger. And my grandma, I visited her very frequently, but I remember the best day that I visited her, to tell her that I was going to university. I passed all my exams, I'd get really good marks. That was fine. And when I visited, I made her a coffee. And she went into the kitchen, and she said to me, this was her words, give me the clever, but you have no common sense. And the example here is, I've made the coffee, but I had left the milk sitting out in the counter. I hadn't put it back in the fridge. And of course, if the milk's left out in the counter, it's going to turn. So that's my example, but I think it comes with maturity. MM0RKN, back to neck control. MM0RKN, this is K2PKG, you're the second person to come. And you've heard you haven't got any common sense. And I often wonder what people mean when they say that. To me, it always sounds like you don't believe what I do. You don't have any common sense. And it's often used as an insult, which I think is, that's the interesting thing. But we've heard that from a couple different people. It is an insult when you say somebody doesn't have common sense. We'll find out. N9OFU Bill, what is common sense? And do you have any examples? Over to you. N9OFU, this is KC2PKG. Thank you, Greg. I've been refining my answer, my response. Because, I mean, just breaking down the word common, it's something that's common, something that everybody knows, kind of just takes for granted. Like if you take a loaded gun pointed at someone and pull the trigger, you're gonna shoot them. If you stick your hand in the fire, you're gonna get burned. If you snip the red wire instead of the blue wire, you're gonna blow up. No, just things that, because of shared experience, especially like here in the United States, I mean, it's not just a regional type thing, but there are some regional aspects to it. But it's things that everybody has in common as far as what they know, and then being able to implement it in your everyday life, like don't stick your hand in a fire, don't load a gun at somebody and pull the trigger. These things are just common sense things that you know if you do it, there's going to be an adverse result or effect or an effect that's going to be a result or a gun result or effect. But just based on what you want to achieve, doing the thing that you know is gonna get you to that point because there are some people out there that think if they do this or if they do that, nothing bad's gonna happen or something good's gonna happen and it doesn't because they don't have the common sense or the shared experience that other people have that would have known, no, that's not what you want to do if you want to achieve a certain goal. That's gonna achieve the opposite. So it's something that most people know or take for granted because of shared experience, shared experience, why everybody's seen this movie, everybody's heard of that story, so everybody knows that you don't want to do that and then someone comes along and does it because they didn't see that movie or they didn't hear that story and they thought that doing that would have a different effect even though everybody else knows that that was wrong. So it's a common experience, a common sense. Back to you. N9-OFU, this is KC2-PKG. One second. Had to clear my throat. Shared experience, shared knowledge, common knowledge that is common among groups of people. That's interesting. That's a very interesting thing to bring out. All right, Jeff, KM4-QVC. Tell me what common sense is and do you have an example? It's over to you, Jeff. This is KC2-PKG over to KM4-QVC. This is Repeater Station- KC2-PKG, KM4-QVC, well, great. All these answers have been really good. I don't have anything to add much. I like what Bill said and I like what Josh said. By the way, happy birthday, Josh. I just saw that on your wife, I think, did a Facebook post. So happy birthday from North Carolina. Anyway, on gray, I, you know, I told them I like what Bill said and what Josh said and what Chuck said to you, so I'll just leave it at that. But I do know this. I can tell you this, gray, I know people that have it and I know people that doesn't have it. I'm a pretty good judge on that side of it. KM4-QVC, back to you, bud. KM4-QVC, this is KC2-PKG. It's a very difficult question. I'm glad I'm asking it. And I'm finding out you're kind of educating me on what you're feeling about the phrase common sense. So I'm happy about that. Marie, KI7ODD, tell me what common sense is and can you cite an example? Over to you, Marie. KI7ODD, this is KC2-PKG."},{"callsign_confidence":0.94,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-08-08T06:31:06+00:00","id":15185,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":15184,"text":" Well, good morning again, KN6UYZ. I forgot if there was a question I was supposed to answer. Is there a question? Nope. I figured I'd do this off. You can let me know if you like it or not. We'll have an opening round. No question or anything. Good morning. Check them in. Give me a check and say what you want to say. They don't have the topic or the question of the day. Maybe a follow-up or one I came here to. But then, I figured the last round or two, I have found that this network's best when net operators step out of the equation a little bit. Some of the best discussions I have experienced on here haven't necessarily started with the net operator. It is what somebody else talks about. And so, in that ideology, I'm hoping that's what happens with the final couple of rounds every Friday morning with me. That somebody brings up something that's of interest to them and then brings up interest to everybody else and I can kind of sit back on easy street. You know what I mean? With that, I'm going to send it back to you, John. K-5 IRQ. All right. Well, thank you for the clarification. You know, it's the same old same old with me. I've been dealing with some medical things and family and who knows what. But everything is going well, so I don't really have too much more to do than that at the moment. So I'll let somebody else do the talking. Thanks so much for having me. I do appreciate it. K-6 U-I-Z. Back to net. K-6 U-I-Z. K-5 IRQ. John, we appreciate you, buddy. We got at least one more round. The 73 round's coming up, so don't go anywhere. And that's going to be the bottom of the list with V-O-1 U-K-Z. So we're going to let him have his turn at the mic and then we'll call for the final round of check-ins. So if you're on the net, if you're listening and you want to join, get ready because after Darryl, it's going to be your opportunity to join the Cal-Burger net. And just for people who need to know this, and I try to say it three or four times every time I do this, it is Friday, August 8, 2025. And it is 8-25 almost, Texas time. I like to do that in case somebody gets like me wrapped up in the net and forgets what time it is or what's going on. So with that, let's send it over to Darryl, V-O-1 U-K-Z. Helps me in the north reserve, but I don't always do that. I need to get a system, see, I'm a creature of habit. And I've got to figure out my system for Friday mornings. I will get there. It just takes a little theory to get there. But you're right, this is, you know, this net is unique. Um, we are respectful to one another. And it seems like we lead out or help correct the ones you don't. Um, I did not know that you used to be on that controller, unless you did Friday and got in trouble. Um, I myself have got in trouble. About there I worked for it, we were dropping a bomb on the air work. Um, I promise you it won't be the only time I drop it. I'm sorry, now I flip up, I'm here and I make a mistake. I do try not to cuss a whole lot out loud. I still cuss a lot of my pecs and stuff to my buddies and stuff. Uh, nothing of the, uh, begins cussing. I think it's just a valid form of expression. It's no different than saying a hole or three. Being sent behind the word changes it, not the word itself. However, I don't want to offend people. Um, this is where I try throughout my life these days, is just kind of to offend people. Now, I am a blunt person who is a speaker without thinking. I get myself in trouble a lot. Um, but anyhow, this net is phenomenal. It is by far the master net that I've been a part of. Of course, I don't have a home on the research, but there you go. We're going to move down to Renault, LA-5, VMA. Um, I don't know if you're staying on the, on the loose a lot, but I'm going to call TNC Quebec. Come back to the mic and you'll still with us. This is repeater station kilo kilo seven, November Quebec November. All star node six two two two. Located in Shelton, Washington. Alright, nothing of the earth. I thought he had said when he was talking about he appreciated it and loved it, but I didn't turn my keys to go read back on. But I wasn't for sure. He's on the list and it's easy to earn X's name. That brings me to the bottom of the list since George was in an Al Pinkie grave, by the way, for telling me that I did not catch that. But I have it down now. Me and Lily are going to fight. Lily is this little bitty street kitty. She is itty bitty right now. She seems like she might have been the rush of the litter. But she is still taking the same seat as us and I have come to love this little kitty. She's a creative and loving and the only thing I don't like is she's like all hot. When you're eating she wants to be there eating with you. I can't stand that. I'm trained, my dog is specifically not to sit there and look at me or you being around me when I'm eating. So we'll have to work on Lily a little bit. But she is going down to the vet soon. She is not going to have babies. Lily is kind of like my dog Willow. I am pretty big about them not having babies. Funny enough I was asked a week or so ago by a guy, he was out in town with his boy, and I was out in town with my boy, and he wants to breed him. He is all about having babies, dogs. And I was like, no. Even if I can give it all to puppies, that changes my dog. She's never the same. So the answer to breeding my dog or my cat is no. Don't know what brought that up, I just thought about it. All right, we are on the bump list. It is 7.20. I think I've taken check-ins two or three times. I'm trying to figure out the best way to do that. I don't like to split up in the middle, but I may need to. I've cleaned up their check-ins, seems like my notes is right around 7 a.m. and it's 7.20. So I am asking for check-ins. Come slowly if you don't mind, and clearly I am new at this. And I don't always catch them, but I am certainly bound to take yours. Go ahead with your call sign if you'd like to join the cows on the night. Victor, Oscar 1, uniform, C, F, E, O, 1, E, O, X, O, 2, Charlie, I hear it, thank you. I've got a couple of minutes, Josh. KN6UYZ, John in Rancho Cucamonga, KN6UYZ."},{"callsign_confidence":0.98,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-07-22T21:37:14+00:00","id":9535,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":9534,"text":" if other people step up, other manufacturers try to step up to do some of these things. And yeah, and maybe some of the, maybe that'll inspire some of these folks to start manufacturing some things that we all kind of took for granted, yeah? All right, let's go next to KN6, K-U-Y-Z, John from California. John, please come ahead. Well, thank you very much, KN6, U-Y-Z, John. I'm in Rancho Cucabunga, 40 miles outside of LA, and it's actually a pretty pleasant day. What, John? Pretty pleasant day, about 85 degrees it said, which means really more like 90. But that's not too bad, because we've been having a little heat wave down here. What else? Oh, somebody mentioned chocolate peanut butter pie? I've never even heard of that. I wonder what that tastes like. Is it sort of a layered kind of thing or something? I wouldn't mind knowing. What else? The picnic, I'm afraid I can't make the picnic. And that's about all I have for the, for the next for tonight. I'll hand it back, KN6, U-Y-Z."},{"callsign_confidence":1.0,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-08-08T05:39:09+00:00","id":15178,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":15177,"text":" Okay, nothing hurt. Uh, we're gonna move back to the top of this. Let me check your list. Starting off with Kilo Echo Tui Tui Sierra Tango. Uh, if you don't mind, tell me your name. I haven't had a chance to look you up yet, and I don't recognize your calls, man. Um, today, my net is... Sorry, I hit the button again. Basically focused on, uh, the cow bunker net. Um, for you who don't know, this is my fourth time at NECA, so my first NECA on a Friday morning. And, uh, it looks like this is gonna be my scheduled spot for a bit. Um, so with that, I'm just trying to gather some data. That's what I do for a living. Um, I am a data guy. So I'm trying to gain some data to figure out how to craft and how to set up, uh, this Friday morning net. Uh, I want it to be engaging. I want it to be polarizing. I want it to be cutting edge. Um, I plan to talk about things like Raspberry Pis and software that can enhance your ham radio life. Uh, integrating, uh, artificial intelligence into not just your radio life, but your daily life. Um, I say I want ham radio 30.0. That's kind of what I mean. Um, I want to develop a sense of community within this group of people. Um, as a source of information and a place to ask questions and to get, if not expert advice, good sound advice maybe. Uh, you know, we have somebody here on here who says, hey, I want to build my own node. How do we do that? Well, I know how. I've done it a few times now. Uh, Daryl knows how. Uh, so this is, you know, this is some stuff like that. Somebody says, man, I would love to be able to write. I have a writing passion. I just don't know where to start. Well, we have Ray who has been a writer or is a writer still. Uh, there are so many people who have so much knowledge, uh, that they can share with us. Um, they have very fine services. So that's kind of where I want to go with this net. Um, you know, so today is about data gathering about what you like about the Cowabunga Net. Uh, I will be asking probably if you're saying what you don't like about Cowabunga Net. Maybe today if we make it. Uh, and I am looking for more honest answers. You all don't hear my feelings. I hope you don't hear Nells or Bills or anybody else's. But sometimes, you know, a fair assessment of what's going on is the best thing to have. And since I'm starting as a new net controller on a new day, I do not feel like I'm going to have that data. So that's why we're doing what we're doing this morning. So before I head up to K- uh, I'm sorry, K-E-2-G-S-T, it's easier to say yours than Fanatic's for short. Um, I'm going to tell you a question of the day again. What brings you to the Cowabunga Net? Do you come daily, weekly, monthly? And why? So with that, we will start with the next round of check-ins. Kilo Echo 2 Charlie Zero Tango, the mic is yours. Hello, this is Kilo Echo 2 Charlie Zero Tango. The name is Pete. Pete Papa Echo Tango Echo, MNS State New York. And I just sort of stumbled into the Cowabunga Net. I've been doing a lot of chatting over on the East Coast Reflector. And somebody there told me about the Dew Drop In. And I don't know if it's a reflector or if it's- I don't know quite what the Dew Drop In is, but I looked it up and found an all-star number for it. And here I am. I'm coming to you through a BaoFeng HT. It's a UV5RM. And it's talking about 20 feet up to my office where the all-star node is. And then through all-star over the internet to your net. I never heard of the Cowabunga Net before I just turned the radio on this morning. And I don't know a lot about the Dew Drop In reflector or whatever it is. So I'm just here to find out that basic information, what are you guys about. I think you did a pretty good job explaining the Cowabunga Net to me. But I don't know how often you meet or if there are other nets or what the deal is. So I'm just here to find out what's what. So that's why I'm here. Again, the name is Pete, KET2CST. Over to you. This is repeater station Kilo Kilo 7. Kilo Echo 2 calling Sierra Tsingo. Well first off, let me welcome you to the Cowabunga Net. My name is John, KET5IRQ. Then let's see what's still happening. First off, welcome to the Cowabunga Net. The Cowabunga Net is a 7-day-a-week radio, a ham radio network. I'm going to use Texas Times Central Time. I can use up to New York Times because my wife is from upstate New York. So for you it starts at 7.30 in the morning, every day. There's generally some shit-caps earlier that don't agree with that. And you can catch some of the regulars talking on there most mornings, I think. I generally don't get up that early because it's 6.30 in my time. By the time I get up and get going, it's time for the net. So I don't take part in much of the pre-net stuff. But I have heard them talk. AA4HO is a early morning guy. I know he likes to talk on that. You can get clearer information than I at the DDropIn.info website. We also have a Facebook page and a Discord server. If you're interested in joining the Discord server, send me a message. Let me know. You can look me up on QOZ, my email. I can get you in there. You can get a hold of Gerald Walford. He is a V01 UK team. He is our net manager. He's the guy that keeps the DDropIn going. The DDropIn is a network. It's an EchoLink conference server. The node is 355800. That's the main server. There's alternatives you can see on the website. There are a variety of nets that come on throughout the week. Feel free to go to the website and look up the schedule. I'm actually working on an... I think I'm making headway. I'm working on an AI chat bot that we can attach to the website. You can ask it things like, when's the next net? They can just pull up the information for wherever it's looking. It's going to be a little bit better. I can't spend all my time doing it. It's my normal job. That's something I have planned for this if I ever get around to it. I hope I gave you enough information about the DDropIn. If I haven't, again, DDropIn.info is your best source of information. We wholeheartedly welcome you to the net. We love having your people join us. You will get all kinds of views. You'll get conservatives, liberal, libertarian. You'll hear people talk about things you don't agree with. You'll hear things you completely agree with. The only thing we ask is, keep it civil. We are all adults here. We can talk about what affects our daily lives. I'm going to take a real quick break. There we go. Sorry, I was running out of time on my timer here. Yeah, we just ask everybody to be civil. Be adults about it. If you can't be civil, and if you can't talk with somebody at the normal adult world, then we probably don't want you on the net. Not to sound rude, but that's kind of what makes this net special in my mind. Anybody else can chime in and agree or disagree with that statement. We are very happy that you are here with us Pete. We are going to move down to John from Rancho Cucamonga. I really do enjoy seeing the name of your town. Good morning John. I hope all is well there. The mic is yours. KJ5, are you sending it over to KN6UYZ? Good morning Josh. Good morning everybody on the net. KN6UYZ. Gosh, everybody gave such great answers to your question already. It's a little tricky to come up with something fresh, but I made a couple of broad notes while I was listening to everybody else. I wrote the words that the net was unique, stimulating, and it had great questions. And then I realized that I started thinking about the people and I'm going, I feel like the people are unique on this net and the people are stimulating. And the people have great answers. So I think it's like everybody should give themselves a hand or a pat on the back or something, because I think that's who makes the net really such a great net. Something a little bit unique that I did, which I've stated before, is for the last few weeks or month or so now, I started doing a lot of research for trying to find nets. And I came up with 127 nets so far that I'm following to some extent. And let me reset for a moment."},{"callsign_confidence":0.94,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-08-08T22:39:31+00:00","id":15350,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":15349,"text":" OK, 218858, roger. Roger. OK, I appreciate this, Bill. Yeah, I'll just head on over. When do they start? They start already? Yeah, they're rolling now. I can't tell you exactly when they start. This is out of Chicago area. Most of the folks check in, not all, but most of the 9 district cars. And let's see, I see a 6 Lander in there, a Kilo November 6 uniform Yankee Zulu. I see a 7 in there. OK, well, check it out. You know, see if it's something you might like to take part in. I've got to take the dog out for the last walk around tonight. So I'm going to step away here for a bit. And again, the name of the repeater, Jeff, is Whiskey Mike 9 Whiskey Nightcrawlers Net. All right, I'll leave it with you. Good evening. KC5, WFH, Bill and Kingston, Washington. OK, thank you very much. AB 6MB."},{"callsign_confidence":0.94,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-08-10T06:05:26+00:00","id":15742,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":15741,"text":" Yep, good to hear you sticking around. And yeah, I'm happy with my Echo Link and my phone. You know, when I was getting into radios and everything else, P-Star, DMR, Fusion, you know, you had a radio for each one, you had the hotspot, and it just seemed like you just didn't know where to go. It's like, well, do I go to D-Star, go to DMR? Do I want to go on Fusion? Do I want to go on Echo Link? And it just became a lot of decision making. And then once I took most of the radios out of the truck, and now all I have is the phone and Echo Link, I'm much more calm and much more focused, and I actually get on the air more often than when I had everything else, and I just didn't know where I wanted to go. So happy, happy. And we've got one more person on the list, but he might be out for a walk. So we're going to find out. Steve, have you been able to do here CW while you've been traveling, or have you just been enjoying the time with your life? And enjoying, I guess, because you just bought a house, so you've had some stress there, I'm sure. Buying a house is always fun and stressful at the same time. But are you still there, Steve? Yeah, this is N0BF. I'm here, so should I continue here where the comment's over? Yeah, please go ahead. I know you're going to go out with a walk, and I didn't know if you were back for your walk or not. So go ahead. OK, Bill. This is N0BF, and I did get back from the walk. I'm here. I'm here. I'm here. I'm here. I'm here. I'm here. I'm here. I'm here. I'm here. I'm here. I'm here. I'm here. And I did get back from the walk. We just got back. So it was a short walk. But we're here near an airport. We're between the train station and the airport in a hotel, a courtyard, Marriott. And it's very convenient. We are only a couple minutes away from the airport. We can just walk over and drop our car off, walk back. And then I could actually walk two miles to the train station, but we have all the luggage. Anyway, so yeah, it's stressful a little bit more to my wife. Oh, it's her decision. She came from this area. She grew up in Cleveland, Ohio. So anyway, we were up for a walk over there. And she said there was a house for sale. And I guess she's feeling the need to return home. Because she said, well, let's buy that house. So I said, OK. I'm game. Anyway, so that's what we're doing. I don't know, kind of interesting. I can move on to dying pretty easily. And I've done that before. So you can see where it goes. Boy, I bought a lot of ham here recently. I'm about to get rid of that. That 7760 is really, really heavy. I did operate that this morning. And I did a little bit of Morse code. But it's been rough on the band. A lot of lightning this morning. I did, a guy in Texas could not hear me well enough. But he did hear me. And I didn't have any QSOs to speak of this morning. A few people could hear me, but not enough to talk much. Anyway, I did that. I also got on 160 meters. And I have tremendous capabilities at the house. Anyway, that's going to be all gone. Start all over again in a tiny little cottage in Bay Village, Ohio. Anyway, that's the story there. So I can't think of what else to say, except I'll be on the list, I guess. Because you said she's not done yet. So anyway, back over to you there, Bill. And yeah, keep me on the list. I'll see what's going on here. And if I didn't answer something, I'll be glad to answer it. This ends your OPM. Nope, you're good. As far as I know, you're not on All Star or have a node set up for All Star. And that was the question. A fan up there in Canada was setting up an All Star node and was curious about the operating system. So we'll not worry you over that. And we will check with our other pool base. Because I know there's people out there. Some days aren't the best day to ask that question, because we don't have the whole crew out here. But appreciate you being in here. And we'll keep you on the list. And if there's another question, we'll get to you. But we are at the bottom of the list. So we're going to go ahead and take another call for check-ins here on the Sunday morning edition of the call. So if you'd like to get checked in, please come down with your call, signing your name. Good morning. KN6, UYZ, John and Rancho Cucamonga. In control of South of Gulf from Sherwood Forest, Kilo Bravo 7. Pop-up Victor Whiskey, better known as Plus Farewell. Good morning, everyone. Anvil is taking me on a list. I'm checking out things for the net goal. KF4, this is KF4. This is KF4. This is repeater station Kilo Kilo 7, November, Quebec, November. I'll be in and out. We're heading out the door. Hope everyone's doing well. Good morning to you, buddy. I'll talk to you soon. KF4, QVC, 730. Call upon me. KB0, MAI, question for Mike."},{"callsign_confidence":0.99,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-08-10T06:47:06+00:00","id":15754,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":15753,"text":" We'll try to catch him on the 73 round, see if he comes back. But for now we're going to go to KN6UYZ from Rancho Cucamonga. John, go ahead. Sorry, I love that name. Well good morning everybody again. Well that's a pretty interesting question. While I was listening to you guys talk, I did bring up Cucamonga. And go back to the 1900s and stuff like that. It's sort of interesting seeing some old buildings. There is an old gas station in Rancho Cucamonga right now that has been restored. It's in the photos. Pardon me. But I would say it's not my thing. I would go along with Dee in this case. The future all the way. I would want to see what's going on, what's new. And not worry so much about what's been. Coming back from the future like the movie, that would be pretty fun. And even though I was not supposed to invest in IBM or a startup called Amazon, I probably would. The fact that the world would blow up, that's another story. I'd be greedy. I'd give it a shot. To hell with everybody. Anyway, the future. Put me down for the future. I'm in that column. K-6, you wisely. Back to that. We do have more calls. We'll check into the film. We'll get you back on the list. You missed the last score run, so go ahead and take a turn now. The question was about the future. All I got was the future. The question was if you could go back, or time travel, and you had a ham radio, where would you go with that ham radio to listen in to what was going on? Would you go back in the past and listen in to radio communications from maybe World War II or something like that? Or would you go into the future and listen to radio communications in the future? That was the question. I'd go into the future and listen to communications. And then I'd go back in the past and listen to Mark Coney over at Signal Hill in Newfoundland. So there you go. I was at Signal Hill. It was very nice there last year when we went up on the thing. We went up in that thing and saw the station that's set up in the tower there. So there you go. Back to you, Bill. We'll be here until the end. Alright, so from Peter, he would go both the past and the future. Don't be soozy. We got time travel under control. Let's check things out everywhere. Alright, so we're going to go to San Imeo, KV7, PVW. Go ahead."},{"callsign_confidence":1.0,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-08-11T07:36:50+00:00","id":16109,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":16108,"text":" KN6UYZ are you available? KN6UYZ I am here. I'm trying to stay awake. I gotta go back to bed and get more than 3 hours of sleep. So I'm gonna pass on the final question but thank you for picking me up. Sorry I didn't answer right away. KN6UYZ. KN6UYZ get some rest man. Get some rest that's very important. And we go to Bill N9OFU. Bill I can't tell you how big this list got suddenly. A lot of people have a lot to say. So for you Bill N9OFU this is KC2BKG. BEEP Yep and my phone keeps cutting out. Sorry I got a guy out here with one of those vacuum trucks vacuuming off the parking lot here. I kept getting knocked off. Come back in, knocked off, come back in. I'm not sure what's going on. I'm walking over to the shop now to see the status of my truck. And hopefully it's done or it's in there getting fixed. So it will be done. And we'll get out of here. And yeah I'll be talking to Daryl some more. And yeah we'll get this all worked up. You know your basic thing was what should we do when we see this happening. And again you know it's in the text box. If you think it's an inappropriate screenshot, forward it to Daryl, myself, one of the net controllers. And we'll take a look at it and see what the deal is. And then, um, yeah that's where I'm going right now. Sorry just got a couple more things on my mind right now. So I'm going to go ahead and pass it back to you. I don't think this was a 70-tier round. So I'll keep listening. But I gotta go find out what's going on. N9OFU. BEEP N9OFU. This is the 73 round. But I think he did an admirable job. So I'm going to move on here to D. DM4LBF. What did you think D? And what are your final thoughts here? This is KC2PKG. BEEP This is KC2PKG. Thanks, Gray. My final thought is you guys are really doing a great job. You're dedicated. You've been here for 16 years. I mean really. You're doing something good. 16 years is a long time. And um, what I, what I, you know, I'm based, you know, there's not a lot of women in here. And what I'm saying is, even though he says, oh she's a woman, she might be emotional. Well I do not wear my emotions on top of my shoulder. Okay, so I'm able to go through some different opinions and stuff like that and different topics without, you know, sitting here and blowing my butt off. You know, and this is just not my personality. But what I'm saying is, you know, I feel the different opinions and topics and learning from other people's experience and journeys and all that is, it helps me. It opens my mind up for, you know, different things. You know, someone could say, oh, don't pick up that charcoal with my finger off. I said, oh right. Yeah, I'm not going to just do that without a tongue now. Right? So you learn from other people's experience. You don't have to burn your finger off. And, you know, I learned about technology in here. I think it was Josh and this other guy that was talking about the GBT5, the AI, you know, just different things. So yeah, I was trying to say in the message box, you know, it's, you know, some things you have to deal with, I mean, you just have to. It just smacks you in your face a couple times. You got to do something about it, you know. And, you know, well anyway, I want to say my 73s, you guys have wrapped it up. You guys are really dealing with it appropriately, I think. And I like the subject and thank you for being here. 73, back to you. This is KN4LBF. Have a great day, everyone. But there's also a blurb. Well, she has a solution for that. She can give you an ornamental photograph instead of a headshot or something like that. So consider if you want to do that and then I want to have you guys take a crack at writing the blurb that goes next to the picture because you like to tell people this is what this person is like. This is who they are and stuff like that, which I think makes the whole thing much more friendly. And we're also talking about putting in a big section, the Calabunga family, which is all the regular hems who get on here every day and somebody might want to look at that and go, oh, so that's what Alan looks like. Or Alan used to do what? You know, this kind of stuff. So but if you have an objection to that, you need to let us know because I don't want to do anything to make you crazy. These are VE1WIN. Final thoughts. Over to you, Peter. Very good. I like to get involved in this. I've had issues with the net before doing some awful things. But you know me. I think we really group. I would like to get in on this meeting. I'd like to be a part of. Yes. Yeah. He's driving. I got tired. Well, we're back in the house. There you go. It's temperature right now is 28 degrees Fahrenheit. So. So. I agree. That was awesome. Back to you. All right. VE1WIN. Casey to. I drive carefully. You got a long drive home after this. Take it easy. Have a nice lunch. Go get yourself a donair. That's what I would like. OK. WB9CSP. Chicago style pizza. Final thoughts from you, man. This is Casey to PKG."},{"callsign_confidence":1.0,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-08-11T06:11:04+00:00","id":16088,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":16087,"text":" Okay, I picked up all the spots and everything, let me see. I got, what was it, it was K? I can't read my own handwriting, this is really bad news. Anyway, it ended in FRR. I do not know what I was trying to write there. KR4, FRR, that's it, KR4, FRR. We got PM6UYZ from Rancho Cucamonga. We got Bill, M9, OFU, who did a great job yesterday. I forgot because I hadn't had him be the net control, or I haven't been in the net with him as the net control in a long time, like two years maybe. And then we got Jim, WA8HUB. So let's go to our first player here, which is KR4FRR. I'm not sure I ever heard your call sign before, so welcome to the Calibunga net. This is KC2PKG and we've been talking about, and we'd love your comments on, magic. Do you know of any? Is there magic in the universe? Or not? This is KC2PKG. Over to you, KR4FRR. Good morning. This is KR4FRR. I actually got on for the first time Friday, I think, on the Calibunga net. I'm pretty new. Just got licensed a couple weeks ago and stumbled across programs on the Do Drop In Network, and so far I've enjoyed it. As far as the magic goes, I believe in magic for short. Like another caller was saying, I think there's the magic that's the sleight of hand. As far as the supernatural side of it that you were talking about, I personally am a Christian, so I believe in God. And I think it's cause and effect. Basically we have free will, and whatever you do and other people do kind of creates the outcomes of our life. And I'll send it back to you. This is KR4FRR. KR4FRR. This is KC2PKG. Okay. Okay, good answer, good answer. Let's go down the ranch and cook among you. KN6UYZ. We're about to know what's going on in your life right now, but the question is, is there such a thing as real magic? I keep changing just a slight and tuning the question. So what do you think? KN6UYZ, this is KC2PKG. Well, good morning KN6UYZ. I have been listening for a little while. I've just been trying to wake up actually, so I'm fully half woken up now. So I thought I'd just put my name on the list. Magic, no. Put me down in the no column for magic. Magic, I believe more in coincidence than I do magic. Not so much into faith, I sort of believe in science and things that can be proven. So yeah, that's a no column for me. Back to that KN6UYZ. KN6UYZ, all the numbers of skeptics are rising. Alright, Bill, N9O-F-U. We're asking people if they believe in real magic. This is KC2PKG. Open to you, N9O-F-U. Good morning, Greg. Good morning to the net. I've been listening for a little bit. I ended up being stuck here as everybody knows. And then yesterday I ended up going out to my daughter's house, brought some stuff out to her that my wife had for my daughter and for the grandkids. And then went out and talked to my mom. Because my brother was after me about wanting to put her into a nursing home. He wanted to move her out to Alabama, where he is, and put her up in his place. They have a rather large place. They just added on to it because his mother-in-law has moved in there. But his mother-in-law is suffering a little bit from dementia. And she's not quite all together there a lot of the times. But I think he was projecting that onto our mother. Amy talked to her after her fall, but she had knocked out the tooth. She had a big...her lips were swollen. Underneath her jaw was swollen because she fell on her face. And she was on oxycontin or oxycodone or something that made her sound worse than she was. I suppose I'll just put it that way. So I went out and talked to her and talked to the people that are taking care of her. And walked away from that meeting with a strong sense of, she's doing fine. She's doing fine. She's only, in the last three or four years, I think, fallen maybe three times. And both, two of those were out in the wild. One was near the post office where there was a big hole and she had pushed her friend to make sure that her friend didn't step in the hole. And she ended up stepping in the hole partially and that's what caused her to go down. And then the one at the church where she wasn't using her cane because she had her knee brace on."},{"callsign_confidence":0.94,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-08-11T06:45:37+00:00","id":16094,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":16093,"text":" on the cow bunking net. Um, it's over to you. This is KC2, PK. Who is that 2-Gray? I turned it blanked out there. W0-G0. That was calling the KR4. Uh, wait a second. FRR. This is KR4, FRR. I'm still here. Um, yeah, I would, uh, I would agree with basically what everybody's saying, uh, for the most part. Um, I think, uh, I'd heard you say, too, is there something we shouldn't talk about? Uh, I think you can talk about whatever you want to talk about as long as it's in a respectable way, you know. Um, but as far as, uh, things you shouldn't say, I would, uh, I would agree with what everybody's saying. Uh, things you shouldn't say, I would just use the SPC guidelines and, uh, leave it at that, you know. Um, so that way, everybody's welcome. Everybody don't feel like, uh, things are being said that shouldn't be said, and, uh, we not just get along and be one defective family. Uh, make the net control KR4, FRR. KR4, FRR. You're gonna fit in great. You wanna keep coming back, you're gonna fit in very well. Talk about whatever you want. Uh, but don't lose respect, and that, that we think is, uh, is a good rule. But, uh, I'm wondering about the other things, the other things that come up from time to time. KN6, UYZ. What's the view from Rancho Cucamonga? What do you think? Are there things that we shouldn't say, or stories we shouldn't tell, um, subjects we shouldn't bring up on the Kyle Bunkenette? This is KC2, PKG. Uh, hello, everyone, again. KN6, UYZ. John, Colin is talking. Uh, sure, there are some things, and I think, uh, actually, I didn't make a note of each one, but I think what Daryl said initially was probably the most accurate that I've heard. Uh, race, uh, violence, uh, personal attacks, things like that, uh, and, et cetera, et cetera, sounded good to me. Uh, then I started thinking, you're talking about something happening on Saturday, and I, I don't remember if I was, uh, talking on Saturday or not, because I didn't hear anything special going on. I think that's the day that I had a really bad headache, and, tried to stay in bed all day long, but, if I, uh, said anything that I didn't know, if I, uh, said anything, uh, that was, uh, deeply offensive, let me know. Back to that, KN6, UYZ. KN6, UYZ. Yup, I never heard you say anything even close to being offensive, so I wouldn't worry about it. Bill, N9, O, F, U. It goes to you. What are the things that you can't do on the count of the cow bungalow? Maybe that's the right question. Over to you, N9, O, F, U. It looks like it's going to be in about 20 minutes from now. That could be slightly less than that. It's usually not more usually around that time that they say. And right now the GPS is saying 20 minutes. I'll go ahead and carry it in the meantime and let you know. Thank you man. It's usually about 15 minutes or so that I'm gone. And I'll have the list ready to go. Well the list is ready to go because that's always what I use. I don't use anything else to take my notes for the net. Alright, we're going to go to John, KN6UYZ. Very good morning to you man. Hopefully everything is going well. Would you go this morning? Good morning back to you. Good morning to everybody on the net. Oh yeah, I'm trying to wake up too. What time is it? It's actually late, it's five in the morning for me. So I've been laying there in bed, I just got up and just listening to everybody a little bit. I didn't have a whole bunch to say except regarding the homeless situation. I got the impression they weren't just arresting homeless people. They were giving them choices and if they didn't pick one of the choices then maybe arrest was the last thing that they would do. So I thought there was more flexibility than just wholesale arresting homeless. I guess the other thing is I was thinking that it's not illegal to be a homeless person, but it is illegal to sleep on the courthouse steps, the park, and the sidewalks. Maybe it's illegal to poop on the sidewalks as well, so I thought maybe there was some illegality going on. But I'm not a homeless expert, that was just my thought, so I thought I'd throw it out there. And I'll be around for some future nets or future callbacks. Thanks so much for having me as usual. Back to you, General. AN-60YZ. Well John, you're definitely more than welcome. And yeah, you're right, when you think about it from a perspective, vagrancy is still a crime. So maybe being homeless could potentially be looked at that way. It's unfortunate. Yeah, Gray was in there earlier, and I think he said they're giving the homeless three options or something. If you're drug addicted, go to a treatment program. Or leave D.C. You can just leave and go somewhere else. Or go to jail. So it's like three monopoly cards you could potentially draw. And you know, I'm not poor, so I don't think that there's a good way to handle this. But militarization is never good. You know, if you're in a town and the military, the National Guard, whoever, is moving into your town and you're weaponizing the police force, that can never be good. That'll never end well. Protests are bound to freak out. More people are going to move into D.C. I think as a result of protests. There's going to be clashes with National Guard like there was in Los Angeles. Like there probably still is. I don't know. I haven't heard that reported on the Los Angeles situation in a while. I don't know if it just went away or if Trump threatened to news media that they'll be sued if they show it anymore. I don't know, man. You just don't know, right? When it comes to countries that are ran by a regime, the silencing of media is just something that they do, right? And, you know, like Russia, North Korea, and all these other communist-type countries, China, do it too. They suppress media. And that could be happening right now. I mean, we wouldn't know if they can't report on it. We wouldn't know. It wasn't for social media and the news. I mean, we wouldn't know what the hell was going on. I mean, they could just do what they were doing, right? We're going to Bill next. N9-O-F-U. A very good morning to you, Bill. My bearing's gone well with you this morning."},{"callsign_confidence":1.0,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-08-01T11:46:01+00:00","id":12655,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":12654,"text":" The KN6UYZ, the other gentleman talking about the labs as dogs reminded me of a little story. My daughter has a couple of black Labrador retrievers. She came and visited me the other day and we all had a little conversation and for about an hour and the dogs calmed down. And then she decided to go out to her car and get her suitcase and pillow because she was gonna stay a few days. And wow, as soon as she walked out the door, both of them go into immediate abandonment mode, right? They're one and they're going back and forth between the door and the patio. And they get over to the patio and the patio door is closed, but they look down and I had installed a new doggy door, but it was for a little kids who poodle. One of the labs looks at that flap on the doggy door, hits that baby hard with its nose and goes, yeah, I can go through there. Tries to go through and immediately gets stopped right in the shoulders of course, after hitting it full speed with 60 pounds of black Labrador retriever. Pulls out, the other lab looks at it and goes, well, let me give it a try. And then they ended up both trying to go through the doggy door for the little kids who poodle. I was thinking about writing a letter to the doggy door people, tell them what a good product they had because it managed to hold up on all 120 pounds of lab hitting it in unison. But that's my little story, back to that KN6UYZ."}]}
