This is KK7QES, Justin. And I did watch the Mariners tonight, and I had the same feelings as Jeff about the Mariners. A couple of weeks ago I really thought we were making it to the playoffs and going to make a run, and now I'm not so sure about that. But it's okay. I still love getting to watch the baseball games and the late summer here. It feels great. And by the way, I hope you're having a great weekend, and waves to Rich if he's out there somewhere. Yeah, it's been a really nice day over here. Yeah, just one of those kind of late summer days that seems to go on forever, and that is exactly what I needed. My girls rode bikes for quite a while today, and it was just fun to watch them and hang out and just waste some time. It was great. Yeah, I watched the Mariners, and then I made some burgers for dinner, topped with some fresh tomatoes from the garden, and some fresh green beans from the garden. That was really, really good. And then later this evening, I checked in on the Simplex net, and I was kind of sitting here in the shack listening, and the light was fading, and my girls were outside a few yards away under our plum tree. And they have one of those sort of geodesic dome-looking climbing structures that you see kind of on playgrounds, but a smaller one. And they have moved it and positioned it perfectly underneath our plum tree so that they can climb up there and hang out and eat as many plums as they want. It's like a pretty awesome little spot. So they sat there, and they watched the sun set, and they watched the moon kind of come into view over the top of our house. It was pretty idyllic. Just a, yeah, a perfect end of summer evening. So anyway, that's what's going on here. Thanks for running the net, Bill. I hope everyone is doing great out there. KK7QES, back to net. Justin, what a nice description of your day and the evening, and I just love the girls putting that geodesic dome right under the plum tree so they can just have what they want. And the sun set and the moon, that's lovely. I'm always envious when you, you always mention the girls, of course, and which you've been up to, and I don't have little kids, but I do on occasion. I had a family member come by. Let's see, it's a nephew's family, basically. And I got to play with a two-year-old, and a nice two-year-old. Really, really cute kid. I had a really good time with him. All right, well, thank you. Thank you, Justin. Let's go over and talk to the cousin, Rob. Cousin Rob, tell us what you're up to. KM7ALY, I hope I have that right. This is a directed social net that happens on the WW7PSR 2-meter FM repeater, which is located on Capitol Hill in Seattle and operated by the Puget Sound repeater group. The repeater operates at a frequency of 146.96 with a negative offset and a PEL tone of 103.5. All licensed HAMS and new licensees getting started are welcome to join. If you have third-party traffic, we'd love to hear from them as well. We encourage you to press that button. Tell us a little bit about yourself. Your audio projects are just about anything else. Please run with your reports to three minutes so we can get as many stations in as possible. This is also when the repeater automatically times out. When you're finished with your report, please end conspicuously with your call sign. That'll keep the FCC happy. I'll be compiling lists of stations that would like to check in. Then I'll ask for your reports. If you'd like to check in only, just let me know. You'll be in and out, also known as an I-O. Again, this is Joan, KX2CW. Let's get started. It has been a great day. I only have three items. I will start off with Ann first off. Good idea, let's talk about this further. And I had visited with my grandkids this morning and we all had a great time until I had to leave. My poor granddaughter, she is just two, was so upset after I left that she ran outside in the middle of the road and started chasing me down. Not wanting me to go. So she will be happy to know that I will be back tomorrow. And the rain finally cleared here in the Phoenix area and I was able to go out and do some potah. Right in the middle of my activation, my 33 foot mast snapped. That brought an end to that activation for today. I am kind of sad because now I am not going to be able to finish out my potah weekend in between visiting grandkids and what not. This is Ann, KA9EHV. Well, let's see. The book that ate my lunch is slowly proceeding, changing as we go because certain scenes seem to have dropped out of the file queue. I don't know where they are. We couldn't find them, and so now they have to be rewritten. But because I've written stuff that comes after them, now they're going to be different. This is making me absolutely crazy. And to add to my misery, my writing partner, that would be KM7ALY to you all, Rob, has a hold of one of my characters. And he wrote a beautiful piece of dialogue for said character. I hope he can email it to me. Anyway, if anybody else wants to join this fray, you can let me know by email. I'm good on the QRZ page. And I'll send you the canon and some of the rest of this story, and you can have fun with it. We can all dabble in it together. Maybe eventually something will emerge from it that looks like a book. Anyway, $73.33.88 to all of you. Thanks to Bill for doing the net and to all of you for listening. You're all great. This is KA9EHV. Back to that. Bill? Well, Anne, you're really just putting this thing together as a group project. You're getting contributions from other radio amateurs. That's a great idea. And if you want to write a mystery, you can write a mystery about the missing chapters. Where are they? Well, good, Anne. Thank you. Let's head down to Santa Cruz and catch up with Peter, KA6RAX. Peter, come ahead. Anne, good evening, everybody. I know we've been having really good luck. We only got rained out one day so far this year, but we're getting into the winter. And it was at 7 o'clock. It was about 48 degrees, which is about the coldest it's been. And our swap meets started at 8, and it was chilly and windy and everybody's bundled up. 10 o'clock, we were at shirtsleeves and shorts, and the sun was beating down. We don't have a big swap meet, but it was pretty good, and we had a little barbecue and such. So, you know, a lot of ham talking going on. ... You know, we need the rain, but it's nice when it rains at night when we're asleep. Back to you, KA6RAX. Well, Peter, were it only so easy to just wish for rain at night? We're doing that up here, but most years we don't come anywhere close to making it. And today was, how cold it was today, but it was, yeah, it was 50 most of the day. It's probably 48 right now. Yep, it's cold. We're all going to die. But I know somebody who's not cold and is warm and comfortable, and I bet it's sunny because he has headed south of the border, and that is our good friend Rich, WD7J. You know, my take on that story is a graphic novel that I sketched out of a woman and her friends in her household, basically salvage a little small freight hopper and get it in service again because they don't waste anything on Mars. And it's a bit of a comedy and the title is The Further Misadventures of Heidi Strand on Mars. Anyway, and it leads into other stories too, but I love that, especially when you have them woven together. But take care, Ann, 33, and I will get you down a log, possibly next week. Next up is the aforementioned Rob, K-M-7-A-L-Y, which I assume that means that Rob is an ally of Ann. This is repeater station kilo kilo seven, November, Quebec, November. Hey, this is K-M-7-A-L-Y. Thank you, Joan, I hope you're having a great evening. And yes, I'm very much an ally and cousin of Ann with an E. And we are having fun in her Star Masters universe and I feel so privileged every time that I get to delve into her books and into her thinking. And it just thrills me to no end. Another thing that is thrilling me to no end is my eldest daughter, who is special needs. She had quite an accomplishment this weekend at a Special Olympics event where she placed first and third in a swimming competition. Now that's not too unusual for her. She's been doing that for the past six years, placing in various places. What was a huge accomplishment is she overcame her fear of the deep end of the pool, which I had doubts that would ever happen. And so I'm doing very much the happy dance for her because that was a major milestone in her life. And I just can't say too many good things about that. Like I said, she's special needs and in Special Olympics. It's just so important for these kids to have those kind of accomplishments and then be recognized for those accomplishments. He does the technical web searches for this book that's eating my breakfast, lunch, and dinner. So we have our 66-year-old grandma, Space Cadet, who is being trained in the wonders of environmental control in space. She's been raised on a planet, she hasn't got a clue, she has a ship to which she has been permanently integrated, and she has no clue about its environmental system. And she proceeds to add herself to the instructors Environmental Management Hall of Shame by by getting the lowest exam score on the midterm at a gigantic 45%. And things happen as a result, including the walkthrough of the mock-up ship, and then the, oh good, your carbon dioxide level is suddenly rising of the ship, wherein you gotta find the environment suit, find the oxygen candle and get the scrubber changed and all the rest of this stuff. And, you know, I mean, she's never done any of this stuff before. So this is kind of fun. We went through this in some detail. So now I have to write it all down. And other than that, gosh, I had a really laid-back day. Anyway, 73, 33, 88. Oh, yes, and I played the Wexford Carol. Yes, I think I said that. Okay, 73, 33, 88. Thanks to Brian for doing the net. I always enjoy these nets. And thanks to all of you for listening. He will guard your life, which is a good thing because you can't stand night watch forever. I love you all. KA90HV back to Ned. All right, thanks Anne for that report there. Good stuff. Glad you had a good time at church there. And yeah, some good research for that book there. I'm definitely excited for that to come out there. And of course, I've been a little bit distracted here the last few minutes, because I've been dealing with a certain fictional character that goes by the name of Kella and Company, while my cousin and I flesh out some really funny scenes. I'm thoroughly enjoying it. And I feel so blessed and privileged to be able to join in the fun, so to speak. And it is absolutely good fun. I Got some writing done you know when you're writing a book about a war what you really need are some funny scenes and I did actually with the help of km7 a ly Managed to get some funny scenes out of this whole thing and I hate it when I get mired in a character's problems and I can't think of a way to solve them that isn't just stupid you know it has to problem science fiction is the solutions have to meet both the good points and the limitations of the universe and so you can't just decide that arbitrarily well suddenly this works for this one character but it doesn't work for anyone else unless you've got a really good reason for it. So I managed to avoid that pitfall and I played through my entire set of 40 Christmas carols today including Wexford carol with its wonderful accidental changes that are just very much a challenge if you're going to do them in both the bass and the melody line.
