Okay, you got me when I was drinking some water and you said that and I started laughing. Yeah, Rocky came to the door and I was actually eating and looked over and he was standing on his hind legs looking in at me and so I put my meal down and went and got some peanuts and nuts for him and put it out for him and he was happy with that. He approved of what I sent there. He did a good quality check on the food. And yeah, earlier today brother put other nuts and peanuts out for those other squirrels. But yeah, the net that I just came off of in the poppus system, they were talking about pets. And actually these squirrels are kinda like pets to me now and wanting no cat boxes, you know. But they're entertaining and they do enhance and add something to my life and I'm glad they're coming around, you know. And I probably would get a, I actually thought about getting a cat but I don't think the two of them would mix very well. Anyway, of course I wouldn't let the cat out. It'd be an indoor cat. But you know, like I said, they're like pets without a cat box. So yeah, meanwhile here today it was about 72 degrees outside and sunny and I'm just, I have a, I have a program called Weather Station that I run on a tablet and it does, I cannot figure out how it handles the tracking of the different barometric pressures. It just doesn't seem to make sense the way it does it. It's still been a mystery to me and the trending and that so I don't know. One of those mysteries of life I guess. And but I have that up there and it shows the upcoming weather coming in next week or so and you know, the usual temperatures and time and you know, and barometric pressure and wind speed. And, cause it gets it from another weather station somewhere nearby. It's nice to have. And I have another weather station I use and it just basically tracks the temperature outside on my patio and does barometric pressure and time and date and everything. So it's actually, between the two of them I get a pretty good grip on what's going on out there weather wise. And I'm just trying to think what else we're onto today. And I watched some baseball and that didn't go well. So, so much for that. And so just generally pretty good days, can't complain. So I'll turn it back to Annette. Back to you Bill, thank you for doing it. And Rich has gotta get back here and get on the ball and give you some relief there. I don't know man, he'd rather go on a vacation or travel than help you out. You know, you gotta talk to him about that. AB6MB. AB6MB K7WFP, yeah I've talked to him. He just likes traveling. But I think Bella the cat may bring him home, we'll see. It is hard, you know, I'm not as good as Rich as in catching call signs and stuff. So he really supports me. Jack's helping me tonight. But I do wish Rich had come back and make it like old times. But he deserves a vacation, even if he had three since my last vacation. Well thank you Jeff, good to hear Rocky is doing well. That you have a standing date with Rocky. And he's doing well. And yeah, interesting weather station stuff. We're talking about mysteries. Lately I've been using AI a lot on some mysteries. I really didn't for like a year. I haven't really understood mesh-tastic channels and how the frequencies work and the private channels up. And I just never took the time to look it up. The other day I sat down with Gemini for about 15 minutes and explained everything. I mean it's really good for stuff like that. All right, let's move ahead now and talk to, where are we on the list? We're gonna talk to KL7DZQ, Kurt, come ahead Kurt. Well good evening Bill and good evening Danette. This is Kurt, KL7DZQ in Northeast Bellevue. Haven't had much of a chance to get on the 9 p.m. net lately and glad to be back. I've had a very quiet evening and it's nice to get on. Anyway, I've been working a lot with recycled materials and actually restoring my wife's childhood acoustic guitar. This is something that she got when she was nine years old and that was over 50 years ago. It's been sitting at our house for quite a while. It had some writing on it and had some stickers on it and I was able to remove that and remove the finish. And so now I'm down to the point where I'm going to be oiling it. Either boiled linseed oil or some other, tongue oil or something like that to bring out the natural colors in the wood. Looking forward to it, will it play? Who knows? Anyway, it's been sitting forever without any strings on it and so the neck may be no good. But anyway, it's fun to do and it's a learning process on how to actually work on these things and so this is a good candidate to do that. And now that I'm doing this, I built her a guitar from a kid for her birthday this year and now I'm hooked and I really want to start using recycled and discarded materials to create guitars and it sounds like fun. And really the only part of that that I don't really like doing is working with necks and electronics. But I like making the body. So anyway, that's my report for this evening. I hope everyone has a great weekend. Take care. This is Kurt, KL7DZQ, back to Ned. Kurt, KL7DZQ, K7WFD. That sounds like a lot of fun, yeah. I mean, it sounds like a whole new hobby area for you. I like the idea that you're refinishing this one. Refinishing is so gratifying because you can make such a much better appearance but doing something for like a piece of furniture or a table or something is just such a big job. But something small that you can really admire is like a guitar just sounds great. You don't have to put it out in the garage, you don't have to turn oil, you don't have to smell up the house, it sounds great. And yeah, I like the idea of the recycled materials. That's a great idea. Very good. Thank you so much for sharing that, Kurt. Let's move ahead and talk to Joan, KX2CW. Joan, how are you this evening? Hello there, Bill. Here is Joan, KX2CW, being careful not to overmodulate like I did earlier. When did I overmodulate? It was in my log. Yeah, it was at noon. I tried to adjust my modulation level to match Rebecca's but I overshot and I was overmodulated. Speaking of the relative humidity and the barometric pressure and the temperature, is I have them on my weathercaster on my iPad Mini 6. Which is really an excellent weather gasser, the weather app. And it's very thorough. Of course it says it's 18 degrees Celsius outside at the moment but it's cooling down. It's nice because all I have to do to cool off my apartment is to open the window. It's nice. I have three windows that crack open and that gives me some flow through. The only downside is when there's a lot of heat and the only downside is when the slackers are smoking. There's cigarettes down in the courtyard. It often wafts up into my windows. But what can I do? But I'm also looking at the barometric pressure and relative humidity and temperature. Although the indoor temperature of 24.2 degrees Celsius on my tri-quarter it has atmospheric sensors in it. And it does some real sensor stuff. I can detect electromagnetic, well typically the quality of the line, the mains electric utility. Which is usually the strongest electric field in a house. And in fact it shows how poor the quality of the sign waves. It's a very sloppy looking sign wave. And I've tested these my tri-quarter in other locations. And it's really showing a different wave form. A much cleaner wave form and less intense. But it also can sample audio. And much like FL Digi it can do fast for your transform on it and I can look at the audio spectrum and my voice fluctuating and stuff. In fact I can do that right now. Get out of the weather and go to audio. And there it is. I see my voice and a fast for your transform of my voice. But I can also switch it to mode to oscilloscope. And now I'm looking at an oscilloscope. But I can also change the mode to mixed. And I can see both the oscilloscope trace and the fast for your transform fluctuating. Anyway, but what I'll do today. Ah yes, I went to the recovery cafe to the women's circle. Which I was a facilitator of today. Because the regular facilitator was off doing something else. Also I have a friend, a professional singer, a vocalist. Who asked me about doing a recording of her. And so it makes me want to inventory my stuff. And I've got everything. I've got more than I need. After having inventoried I have all four of my dual diaphragm, dual element large diaphragm condenser canister mics. I have three of my super cardioid condenser compact condenser microphones. Plus the dynamic microphones. I've got five professional grade XLR dynamic microphones. But I also have my Tascam recorder. Which is capable of encoding mid-side. So if I record her just singing, you know like art songs or cabaret songs. She's an opera singer. Accompanied with a piano. I can do my cross figure eights. My convoluted version of it. Which is doing mid-sides and cross figure eight mid-sides. Which would work really well. In fact I'm talking into the microphone I would use. And the other microphone isn't doing anything. But I'm talking, oh my gosh look all on. KXCCW all the numbers back to net. That was the quickest close I've heard. Thank you for telling us all about your microphones. That you do have a great collection. And that does sound like a wonderfully fun project to record a really good singer. Do cabaret, I love cabaret. I like opera too. But you don't hear enough cabaret stuff. That stuff is so wonderful. Let's see where are we? Oh we're moving ahead now. And we're gonna talk to Joel KK7ZBX. Come ahead Joel. Hello, I had a nice evening in Kirkland. So my wife and I went to, I brought my radios. Went to Big Fin Hill Park. And so I could do this Simplex net there. I love this Simplex net. And really thanks to Dan and Jeff and Nelson and all the operators, the hosts for that. It seems to be complex to do all that, draw all that stuff down. And they even publish it for us. So it's really cool. And the idea I get from that is, you know, what's the intent of doing? You know, what can I do better? And so if you're just starting out like I am, there's nothing like it to really learn more about VHF. You know, multi-path. So I was up and I got some elevation off of that. My normal elevation's a lot lower than that park up there, up north of Juanita. And it was also good practice to have to run my mobile, which puts out, what can put out 55 watts, running on a battery. So I am glad I got some experience with that too, where I can kind of do like a fuel-date type test. And my wife was there and she read a book and I play with my radio. I will get her to get her to get eventually though. Get her on the radio one of these days. And she kind of, it was fun for her to watch. But I think I got her interested maybe. Who else? Anyway, KK7, ZBX. KK7, ZBX, Joel, thank you. That was a very interesting report. And just, I mean, heading out on a nice summer evening with your wife and just setting up and doing simplex."},{"callsign_confidence":0.94,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-08-08T09:06:00+00:00","id":15253,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":15252,"text":" Hey, good morning everybody and welcome to the Not Wednesday morning edition of the Puget Sound Repeater Group's 9 a.m. net. Hey, this net meets every day at 9 a.m. noon and 9 p.m. on the PSRG Repeater in Seattle, Washington. That's WW7PSR. And we're at 146.96 MHz with a negative offset and a PL tone of 103.5. So hey, all you hams out there, this is a social net. It's an open net for all hams with a valid license and you can talk about anything you want as long as it's user friendly. And yeah, hey, set up your radios, come in and join us. If you're on the internet, we'd love to hear from you too. We are All Star and Echo Link connected. And please don't forget, this is a directed net. So please remember to go through net control to contact other stations. That makes things a little easier. And hey, this is Kilo Delta 7 Papa Whiskey Bravo Dave, the high desert pirate radio down here in Central Oregon coming to you via All Star. And hey, I'm standing in for Rockin' Ron the Wildman NR7-0 this morning. And so he is off and I have the net. So there you go. You have to put up with me one more time this week. So there you go. Alright, let's see. The way this works, we're going to build a list. I'll take names and call signs from oh, half a dozen or so check-ins. Go back to the top of the list that I make and ask for a report from each of those stations. When you give your report, please remember to keep the three minutes or less. That's the time out of the repeater and it lets us get as many check-ins as we can in a timely fashion. And mission critical, when you give your report, please remember to end with your call sign. That tells me you're done with your report and it satisfies our dear friends at the FCC. Alright, let me let it drop for just a second. Okay, let's see. There were some, oh, IOs are certainly welcome if you don't really want to have anything to say and want to check in. But let me know you're listening. Just tell me your IO or in and out and I will understand. So hey, that's the way this game works. I usually start out with short horizon stations. That's mobiles, IOs and low power stations. And we'll get this thing underway. Then we'll have some internet stations. We'll open up to everybody. Of course, none of that is carved in stone. So hey, I'm just looking forward to hearing from you. So with that, hey, let's get started. I've got some announcements this morning. There's some fun stuff on the announcement list, which I call the news from the high desert. And hey, I'll do that after the first round or two depending on how slow things get. And hey, let's get things rocking and rolling here. Hey, it's time. I'm looking for short horizon stations. Come ahead. KL7 DZQ, Kurt, IO. Hey, Kurt, I've got you on the list with an IO this morning. And thanks for coming by, saying hi and have a happy Friday. TGIF. Dave, remember it's Friday. I've got to remember it's Friday. Hey, there you go. Next station, please. Kilo, Kilo 7, Zulu, Romeo, Yankee, Robert. Good morning, Robert. I've got you on the list. And next check-in, please."},{"callsign_confidence":1.0,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-09-05T09:59:53+00:00","id":32857,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":32856,"text":" On this particular net if you ever hear, or this particular repeater, we probably shouldn't tie up the net with it, but KL7DZQ is a local guy here in Seattle that's got a pile of CB radios. He does a lot, and makes homemade antennas and some other stuff. Thanks for popping in this morning, Scott. That's the bottom of the list. I'm Ron in R7O. Yes, I am still doing the Louie net It looks like I'm into I think I'm in my fourth year now. I kind of lost track after After The guy who Convinced me to start it after he passed away. I kind of lost track of how long I've been doing it But it's been a while now. So yeah, and tonight's question. Let me get to it well talking about you, of course the the motto for the Louie net is a reuse Reuse recycle repurpose and reimagine that's what that's what we go for and tonight The question was sort of a philosophical one. It was Where do you drive it? So do you let things rest when when do you let things rest? are there times when the most respectful act is to not restore or Reclaim an item that is being given to you for free or that you find by the side of the road Do you leave it to decay with dignity or do you fix it up? And if you do, where do you draw the line at the point where you won't touch it? There were many great great answers the one that one that came out was sometimes it's the size because you know as That the homes are not not big and so you you see something big and your your eyes are bigger than your mouth so to speak and Sometimes if you bring something home, that's just too big It's just too complicated of a of a project and you just don't want to do it Another thing was rust one person said if if something is rusty and its replacement would be cheap I probably won't try anything with it So but if it has sentimental value that was where everyone was 100% if it's sentimental or part of the family I there everyone agreed it was worth attempting So that was the question tonight was just talking about where where do you draw the line at reclaiming something and recycling it? Reimagining the use for but I'll leave you with what I've been doing while I'm sitting here and watching someone make Stuff out of wood. I've been crunching up my Dry roasted peanut shells after I've eaten the peanuts inside I'm crunching them up by hand so I can run them through a grain mill and then I'm going to turn it into wood filler And it has a very woody look to it Anyway, it is free. So yeah, I can make sawdust but this is this is more funner, right? This is Kurt, KL7TCQ transmitting from Bellevue. I'm looking outside, it's such a beautiful day. I'll see what kind of things I can get done outside, but I still haven't had my coffee yet, so I am going to sit here for a little bit longer and enjoy my coffee and doom scroll a little bit and maybe work on some photos. Yesterday when I got to work there were three pizza boxes sitting on what we call the food table in my department, and they had been leftover pizza for the team. I went to the admin for the team and I said, hey, don't throw those away. When you're done, let me know and I'll pick them up and take them home, because I've got hungry people here. I've got a 24 year old that will eat everything. Anyway, I brought the pizzas home and I'm thinking to myself, what in the world am I going to do, because just eating old pieces of pizza is boring. It's tasty, but it can be boring. I really live by the mantra of reuse, recycle, repurpose, and reimagine. So what did I do? I cut up all the pieces of pizza, which included a cheese pizza and a combo pizza. I cut them all up into biteable chunks, and then I made some masa dough, some corn flour, eggs, milk, some seasonings, so forth, mixed it all together. I made something that I could pour into a cast iron pan. So I ended up with a cornbread pizza combo thing that I cooked for about 45-50 minutes in the oven at 350 degrees. I will gladly make this again sometime. I'll make it more savory, but that was solved by putting salsa on the top of it. Hey, you have old pizza? Use what you've got, man. Take it, chunk it up, put it into something, make a casserole, and use the flavorings and all the stuff that's in the pizza to make something else with it. So that's what I did yesterday, and quite frankly, that's what I had for breakfast this morning. Anyway, I hope everyone has a great day, a great weekend, and a great week. I'm in the process of selling a percolator that was made 100 years ago by a company back in Connecticut and this sucker works. It's even got one of the fabric lined electrical cords and I've made several pots of coffee with it and it does it every time. It's got this spigot that spins. It's a little, the spigot's a little stiff but otherwise the thing works great and it looks great too. So hopefully Facebook Marketplace will be kind to me and get this thing sold and then this afternoon I am I'm heading out to go visit some friends up in up in Marysville but after I run after I run some errands around here and take care of a few things I'll just be driving north and I'm going to take it easy because I think it's just it's just nasty and there's lots of traffic out there so I'll just try to avoid it and take some back roads. So it's really interesting Dana. You know we have I've had a Surface Pro that I've had with you know that I Used for years the first one I ever bought was a Surface Pro 4 and then And then I upgraded a few years back to a Surface Pro 8 and that that the 8 comes with Windows 11, so it's no big deal, but the 4 is had Windows 10 on it and of course I'm not gonna allow that. I'm not gonna use an operating system that doesn't get any new security patches so I installed Fedora on it and it works really incredibly well. I'm very impressed. I'm actually using it just to just to show the motor scope in this case but but it works really well so I think it'll be interesting to see I think I think I'm not sure about the logic of what Microsoft is trying to accomplish with But anyway, that's a whole nother topic for another day. I don't I don't often sing, but when I do it's kiss so anyway. That was that was pretty fun Here you guys talk about Linux and all these other operating systems, I just wanted to share that I resurrected a Windows 10 laptop that I've been using for many years. It was not advanced enough to take on Windows 11, so it was going to be a paperweight if I didn't do something with it. So I ended up putting a different hard drive in it that I had in another laptop that has chrome OS and I like it a lot basically I turned it into a chrome a chrome based machine and it works great you know there's a couple of things that don't work and I don't think there's any sort of interactivity with the SD card slot on the side of the laptop and and that's just that kind of thing but other than that everything else works terrific it's got nice graphics and I'm able to plug in an extra monitor and it works terrific. The only mechanical issue is the keyboard has some sticky keys and I'm still trying to figure out how to fix those. But I can just plug another keyboard into it and it works great. I'm not ready to throw this thing away which is par for the course for me. I just use things to the absolute bitter end. So I will be able to use this for stuff and I'm looking forward to a couple more years with this guy. I replaced it with a small form factor desktop computer that I got refurbished for about 180 bucks and that's doing me fine too. Anyway, we were woken up this morning with some Puget Sound Energy work this morning on the cabling and stuff in our area and so that was started at 8.10 this morning and so now everybody in our neighborhood is awake but it's sunny out I've got a few things to do today in the house and I'm looking for just a stay home drinking coffee setting up a new printer and just getting on the radio so anyway I hope everyone has a great day take care kl7 dzq"},{"callsign_confidence":0.85,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-12-27T09:12:44+00:00","id":99940,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":99939,"text":"Well, good afternoon. Yes, I'm doing fine here And so now we've got the other rich and the other rich, so I don't know I think this is the first time we've got three in a row Anyway, great fun Yeah, all Linux at this station. That's for sure Polo is doing great had him out to the dog park this morning, and I've got some nice pizza in front of me He does like the crunchy crust, so he gets a little bit of that. And the weather is absolutely perfect. It's about 74 degrees right now, full sun. Solar panels are doing their job and getting the battery back up. And, yeah, everything is great here.
