There's a club, there's the International Club of D.C. You can get on there, email us for free. And there's Events DC, which is another one that is a competitor. They do embassy events. Some of them are free, some of them are not. Tonight's was not free. The Austrian Embassy has a lot of events and they're almost always free. Concerts by Conservatory students, sometimes there will be people turning in the United States. I've met the Ambassador several times, the Ambassador from Austria. I met the Ambassador from Serbia on Friday night at the Serbian Embassy. Nothing special about getting invited really. You get on the mailing list and you get a ticket. Again, some of them are free, some of them are not. And they check you against the list. Some of the embassies are quite large, as the French Embassy is. And Serbia is a small, kind of cozy embassy. But it's a lot of fun. You see a lot of the same people at these events. And if you like to travel and you're curious about the world, it is quite interesting and I've enjoyed that. Not personal at all, Bill. I like to see people at these events and I like to meet people. K7WFB, this is AF4LL. Well, thank you Bill. That is absolutely fascinating. I had no clue there was a perk like that for living in that area. That is fascinating, makes me really envious. That just plain sounds like fun. Thanks so much. Well, let's see what KK7KHE Adam has to say. What's up? Oh, you're meshtastic Adam, aren't you, I think. Pardon me if I'm wrong. K7WFB, over to you. Good evening, this is KK7KHE Adam in Pocatello, southeastern Idaho. Not meshtastic, all-star node. Here I got a clear node. It's one of the greatest little devices I ever ordered. Pocket to you guys tonight on my 30-plus year vintage DHC1000 Motorola radio. It's one of the best sounding radios I have. It's one of the only ones I have that has complete logistics in it or logics in it. It's not like a radio on a chip like most of my QITs and my MAL things and stuff. So hopefully I sound pretty good to you guys. Didn't do a lot today, just some gardening, hanging out with my pets, waiting for my wife to get off work. Back to net. Have a great evening. KK7KHE. Adam, thank you so much. Pardon for the confusion. Adam up in Shoreline here in western Washington who does a lot with meshtastic. I guess your call just reminded me of his. But yeah, that Motorola, an old equipment I understand, just had really good audio. Yours is a little bit hot I think, but sounds really, you know, we can hear you. That's for sure. Sounds great. Thanks for checking in. Let's talk to Robert. KK7ZRY. Robert. Good evening everybody on the net. Glad to be with you this evening. I have an interesting dilemma. I was working today, I was rebuilding a deck, and I have a shop smith, a 1954 sort of all-in-one tool. I primarily use it as a table saw. Last weekend a friend of mine though, at his own house, had a little nip. He took a tip of a finger off. The kind of thing always scares me. It kind of begs the question, when is it time to say, you know what, I need to own a table saw anymore. So I'm looking at this beloved old piece of equipment and I'm asking myself that question. But anyway, that's a question without a solution. I do have a question though. I've got a radio question. That's a relative newbie. I got my ticket in March I think. I hear people use the word motoscope or motor scope. I do not know if I'm hearing that correctly. I do know what it is. It sounds like some sort of magic device and I am curious to know what it is. So I'll send it back to the net. KK7ZRY. Robert, thank you so much. This is K7WFP in Seattle. Not magic at all. It is the net you're listening to, created and sponsored by Puget Sound for PETA Group, uses a network of let's say hot five or six ears. In other words, the system has one, two, three, four, five, six, six hearing locations spaced around the Puget Sound. So we're sort of Puget Sound, sort of a bowl. So all around the bowl are these five stations in the mountains. And then the system samples the best signal coming in on a very frequent basis, milliseconds I believe, and the system votes for which one is getting the best signal and that's the one that passes on to the repeater. So that's why we call it a voterscope and you can find it for yourself if you go to our main page, psrg.org and let me just take a look. It's pretty easy to find if I remember. Let's see, where do you find it? Well actually if you go on the main page, if you just look over to the right, you'll see the two meter voterscope, also a six meter one. So that's what it is, no big magic. By the way, you've made some contacts before this I assume? This isn't your first contact as a HAN is it? No, I'm a regular visitor to the net. I work full time so I can't check in every day, but I do check in once or twice a week for sure. And do enjoy it, kk7zry. Very good, yeah I just, it's good to have you and as you know you're welcome anytime. I remember that Shopsmith stuff back from the 50s and yeah in the 50s, 50 wasn't the priority and fingertips were vulnerable, still are of course. I had a radio arm saw from the 60s, just as lethal and I came to the position where you are thinking about it a number of years ago and decided it was time. You can always get one of those super new table saws that have the immediate stop feature, you know, where they demonstrate with frankfurters rather than your fingers. They're pretty cool, so why don't you hang in there, I guess they cost a bit though. Anyway, thank you for stopping by Robert, love to have you, come by anytime. Let's talk to an, oh I can't even talk, Brooks, let's talk to you Brooks, come ahead."},{"callsign_confidence":0.94,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-07-19T21:32:14+00:00","id":7943,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":7942,"text":" QSSPV, you have to pay a little bit, I think it's $399 if I remember right, so not a lot, but a little bit, and it's an iOS app, not sure if it's available for Android or not, but I'm running it on iPhone tonight. Well, very good. Well, good luck with that guy. I run Android, Robot 36 works pretty well. I tried the other night for, the other day actually, for the SSTV, and with the J-Pole, the good J-Pole that I did not do very well, I was surprised, because boy, you can hear the ISS repeater with, I can hear that on a rubber duck, no problem. So I'm a little surprised that I have a, I have a gang action L to lock periodic, but I think I've run out of time, because I think they're going to stop today, if I recall. Alright, well that is the first round of the 9 p.m. PSOG Social Net for July 19. Let's get another round going right away while we have some momentum. Come on ahead with your call sign and name. AF4LL, Bill in Arlington, Virginia, AF4LL. Very good, Bill, we have you down. And I, did I hear someone double under there? I believe that was me, Kilo Kilo 7, Kilo Hotel Echo Adam. Kilo Hotel Echo Adam, we have you numbered 2 on the list, who else? Call sign and name. K7, Brooks and K9, MLR, Megan. Brooks and Megan, I have you down on the list, but also in there was a double, who was that? That was KK7ZRY, Robert. Now, I feel like it's been a few weeks that you've really got this great routine going. I love it. That's awesome. And what a great place that you live, too. Just like, it's perfect. Not only is it close to a park, but it's a walkable part of the city. You hear a grocery store. Just all the amenities are right there. And you're in a wonderful community. So you have, yes, it's just like built-in friendships, right? Well, yeah, thank you so much for your report, Jones. And I look forward to hearing more from you this weekend. Yeah, it'll be fun. 3388, all the numbers. All right, next on this list is Adam, KK7KHE. What's going on, Adam? This is repeater station kilo kilo 7, November Quebec, November. All star notes 16. Good evening, everyone. This is KK7KHE. Lisa Nido coming to you from my 30-plus-year-old Motorola HD 1000. This is a really old radio. Found it in a closet. And surprisingly enough, it worked. It took a bit of jump-starting to get it going. But this week, I've been working on a few years. State of Idaho, I have been rewriting a database for the juvenile detention center. I actually wrote this database last year. And they've been using it since January. They just got requested by the state juvenile database because they could get a copy of it. So I've been specifically looking for a copy of it. So I've been sanitizing and taking out all the county-specific stuff so that I can allow this data. I think I'm going to put it on my GitHub for anybody who wants it. By the way, Joan, I always love hearing from you. One watt is a lot. I heard you say that so many years ago, it seems like, although it's only been a couple. And that tower that I sent that picture on Facebook from, we bought that tower this year as a county. So very, very cool. Anyway, last but not least, I've been setting up my computer to stream 20-year-old-plus games. I figure I need to get in and compete with the young guys in my office who all stream games on their time off. I'm not really a huge gamer, but I love a couple of old, and I mean old, sim games, especially sim golf, sim tower, very, very old. But I've been working on setting up my computer to stream those to Twitch so that I can suck up the views and hopefully get rich and famous. Anyway, have a great evening, 88s to everybody. I'm very familiar with AWS by the way, I've been a software engineer for my whole career, 30 years here actually, I'm feeling old but in fact I have a ham radio related project that I've been building for a couple of years now using AWS and I could rant a little bit about some of the frustrations I have with some of the services in AWS but you know anyway I won't go there, yeah it's a great service, great cloud service. Anyway like I said I've had, I've only had one cup of coffee and I'm feeling like I need more. Have a great weekend Peter, 73 thanks for stopping by from Carbonado, KC7YDW. Okay next on the list I've got Adam in Pocatello, Idaho, kilo, kilo, kilo 7, kilo, hotel, echo, good morning. Good morning this is Adam, kilo, kilo 7, kilo, hotel, echo, yes QTH South Eastern Idaho this morning, gosh this has been a busy week, we did a lot of Next Gen 911 stuff this week, we formed the Idaho State Next Gen 911 Governance Board, I got to relay that message to the Tri-County Sheriff's Association. It was a lot. This morning though I am getting ready to go pick up the county side by side. I'm going to head up over 9600 feet working with the Bridgerland Amateur Radio Club to move a VHF repeater that is an amateur repeater from the State Public Safety Communications Commission to my tower, county tower on Sedgwick Peak in South Eastern Idaho. The PSC, State Public Safety Communications, they've decided to up the rent so high that the Bridgerland Amateur Radio Club couldn't afford it anymore so I worked with them and about a four county coalition to get an MOU together and they're moving it, we're going to move it over to my tower up there today, should be very fun. Anyway I heard Robert complaining about his hair, I get that 100%, my hair has to be specific and last time I had cut it my wife came in to help me and trimmed just a little too much, I do the buzz cut and I don't like looking like a ping pong ball so just recently I have been able to shave the sides down and get more of the Sheriff's Department style high and tight. And Skype worked really well. And then somewhere along the line, Microsoft bought Skype and they didn't screw it up too much. It made a couple of changes, but it still basically functioned the way it had and cost, I don't think they changed the pricing any, couple of cents a minute in most places. So if I was in China, I could call any place and if I'm here, I can call any place and it's just pretty flexible. And then it was about, I don't know, maybe 6 months or so ago that Microsoft announced they were going to be ending Skype and they officially ended it, I don't know if it was May or June or something like that. So I got an alternative. I ended up looking at all the alternatives and went with Google Voice, which has worked pretty well. I haven't tried it for making any calls from an international location, but it should work. So far that works really well for about the same price, 2 cents a minute in most places. So Skype's deactivated and I just got an email today, Hi Timothy, Skype, reactivate your credit. Your Skype credit is now inactive. We've noticed you haven't used any Skype credit in 180 days. Okay, so it's true, I left some money in the account because I didn't know how to take it out of the account and it was like, you know, I probably had $5 in there or something, so it's like not a big deal. But what I don't understand is if it's been deactivated and not supported anymore, then why am I getting emails about reactivate your credit? I don't get it and I don't really care. Another screwy thing that Microsoft does. Anyway, hey, it's a beautiful night out. I'm out here to put a little charge in my car for 21 cents a kilowatt hour at one of the Seattle charging stations. This one is in, I guess it's North Seattle, right by the Town and Country, no, no, this would be in Shoreline. Shoreline, Aurora, Town and Country store, they've got four stations here and 21 cents a minute between like at night and same on Sunday. Same rate, about 21 cents a megawatt. Anyway, it's a nice night to be anyplace. And I think tomorrow is supposed to be another beautiful day, so get the heck out there and enjoy. KI7ZEI. Get the heck out there is right. Don't miss a moment of good weather in November because you don't get a lot of it. Yeah, you know, I went through that Skype thing myself and yeah, I put some, they moved it to something else. It's like Skype exists or something like Skype exists. I don't know because I haven't used it on top. But yeah, I moved my credit over there. And I also use Google Voice, by the way, and that's been a good service. I also, for cell service, I have T-Mobile, which has this great plan when you go over, when you go to Europe or something, you can make, it works over there real well. You don't have to buy an extra SIM card. And it's 10 cents a minute to call around the country or back to the US or anywhere you call is 10 cents a minute, which seems at least rational. The other day, my wife called her cousin in Switzerland, she didn't call very much, and she was on it for two minutes. They were set up at the Zoom call. They were in for two minutes and it was $3 a minute. So T-Mobile gives me 10 cents a minute when I'm over in Switzerland, but it's three bucks a minute to call Switzerland from the US. I don't quite understand that. I don't know why they do that. Maybe they do it just because they can. That's probably the answer. I don't know. Anyway, enough complaining. Sorry about that. I'm learning how to use a much different microphone, not a handheld clutch one that I need to put next to my mouth. This is a desk one that's considerably more sensitive and I got these new Motorola radios that have a mic gain in them and I haven't gotten set quite yet so I'm just trying to be a little bit mellow and not blow you guys out with over-modulation until I figure these radios out. But that's about everything for me. Again, have a great evening, have a great weekend. We'll talk to you soon. Kilo Kilo 7, Kilo Hotel Echo. KK7 KHE, this is K7WT. They sound pretty good, I mean, very readable. A little punchy, it might be a tiny bit overdriven. I don't know, maybe somebody else with more experience will comment. I also hear a bit of a 60 cycle hum in the background so you might need something to be grounded to something else, perhaps. Who knows? Thanks for checking in, Adam. And let's go down the list and chat with Dean KKG70DB. Dean, how are you? I'm fine."},{"callsign_confidence":0.94,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-12-21T17:33:57+00:00","id":81660,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":81659,"text":" Okay, Adam, we've got you on the list. I'll also say this, I have done this one interesting thing too, because the wattage on the Sherry Pole may be three quarters of a mile. I actually have done the net a couple times, I can set up on the picket side here in Arizona. That's all I got for that. Let's see if anybody else would like to join the 9 o'clock net here at the tail end of bangs. All I need is your naming call. Thank you very much for coming back with that. I, yeah, I should have actually looked on your QRZ page, which is I think everyone that wants to find out a little bit more about each person they hear on this, on the nets that PSRG has should check out QRZ pages of people that have checked in. And thank you very much. That is exactly what I thought it might be about the question example you gave me. And when I first got into scam radio myself, myself, I went gangbusters on creating antennas. Simple dipoles that would work in our band. It was very fun and informative and gave me something to do. All skill levels can pretty much pull it off. Anybody who has gotten into ham radio can talk on the radio and get around radio can probably also figure out how to follow some YouTube instructions on antenna building or advice from people like your Nat. But thank you very much Jeff and let's go see. I got an I.O. from Cody, Alpha-Golf 7 Lemur D.O. and now we're going to hopefully talk to Adam, KK7KHE. Adam, how are you tonight my friend?
