I do not know. Or, um, yeah. Got busy. Don't know. Maybe I'll check back in. Anyway, who else is out there that would like to check in, comment, complain, anything for the good of the net goes, please come ahead. Kilo, Kilo 7, Hotel Charlie Delta. Good morning, Ron. Oh wait, Dave. Dave. Hi Dave, it's Chris. Good morning, Chris. We're down to one these Tuesdays, so rock and roll. What you got? Well, thanks for picking up Ron's net there. Yeah, it's, uh, I thought maybe I'd gone back in time. And that, uh, we're, we're, uh, reliving Wednesday. But, uh, anyhow. Good hearing you out there. Had a couple of questions that came up. Um, first one, there was an earlier station that was, uh, driving around from Oregon. Uh, KK7, Bravo something, if you could pass the rest of that along to me, that would be wonderful. And then, uh, um, was curious how you get up to Edmont, Edmont. I, uh, heard that, um, maybe a day or two ago. And it piqued my interest anytime a, uh, a Northwest explorer such as you mentions a fantastic spot, uh, I pay attention. Because I'd like to, uh, get up there and check that out one of these days. And I was curious how you're getting up there. Um, boat, airplane, car, ferry maybe? Alright. Well, uh, thanks again for running the net. Say hi to Sam. And, uh, $73 KK7 8 CD. Hey, Chris Green here from you. Uh, the station you are looking for is Kilo Kilo 7 Victor Pupa Juliette. VPJ. KK7 VPJ. Um, and he's an amylope. Um, just, heh. And, and as the crow flies, it's not that far, but as the car drives, it's, uh, it's quite a drive out there. So, uh, yeah. Um, yeah. But neat little community out there, that's for sure. And, uh, I won't make any other comments about it than that. Um, let's see. Uh, the other one. Oh, Eggmont. Yes. Um, yeah, go up and visit the Eggmonsters. There you go. Um, we're driving up, unfortunately. So that means, yeah, we're gonna be leaving here Wednesday morning. We'll be in Seattle Wednesday night staying with Shelly. Then we're going, uh, gonna jump on, uh, head north and, uh, cross the border. Jump on the first ferry we can get across Howe Sound and then go drive north from there. So, yeah, we got two long days ahead of us to get up there. But then we're gonna spend three days there and then work our way back. So, uh, but we're driving, unfortunately. We checked in on getting a flight, because we can fly in Madeira Park, uh, via Kenmore Air was also a thought. But at $900 a person, no. I don't think so. Although, frankly, it would be worth it, because the scenery is just spectacular up there. So, there you go. But, no, we're not doing that. Um, so, anyway. Well, I hope that answers the question and, uh, we will catch you later. 73s. Alright, who else is out there that would like to check in? Uh, name and call sign, comments, complaints, anything for the good of the net. I'll take them all. I think I've got the number right on that. I actually keep it in my car. It's only, I think it was like $80, and it's very small. It fits in my glove compartment. Whenever I check in mobile, that's my perpetual mobile radio, but it has 220 on it, as well as 2 meters and 70 centimeters. The only thing I will warn you is, power-wise, I have hooked this up to a power meter, and it's supposed to be 25 watts. But it's actually, for me, I'm getting 20 watts on 2 meters, 10 watts on 220, and 3 watts on 70 centimeters. So, that's still enough power, and it seems I get decent signal reports with it for the price and the size. You can't really beat it. I got it a couple years ago, so they've probably gone up a little, but who knows. But yeah, I would check that out. And also, summer. I'm not a big fan of hot days in the middle of the day during the summer, but what I do like during the summer are the evenings, and sometimes the way the light comes in and when it cools off a little bit. That's what I like, but I don't like these. Mike checked in earlier from Needles, California, and what do you think of Needles if you've ever been there? It's just hot. That whole area, my sister lives in Phoenix, so I think they're dealing with like 117 degrees down there. Anyway, yeah, always good to hear from you and hope to see you again soon. Thanks, Tree. That was TreeKK7, flying heights backwards. And we're going to go to Chris, Kilo Kilo 7, Hotel Charlie Delta, and I'm hoping there's going to be some other traffic, but if not, please say hi to everyone. Hey, Chris. Well, hey there, Dean. Chris here, KK78CD. I could not not check in on your net. You're doing a fabulous job, and I had no doubt that you would not do a fabulous job. So, fantastic to hear that you out there running a net, and you're really really knocking it out of the park. Oh, your comment about the concert and the moon coming up, I was for sure you were going to talk about Ozzy and of course, Bark of the Moon, but you know, I guess Neil Young's alright, too. Well, how many years has it been since that fateful day that we met you on the John Lewis Memorial Bridge? That was a fantastic serendipity, I guess. Anyhow, Jack is still listening out there. I'll have your hard hats back to you tomorrow, Jack, with no holes in them. That project was a success and is complete. I don't have much else. We're all really tired. We're all headed for bed, and look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow. Thank you very much for running the net, Dean. You are doing a fantastic job. Alright, 73 to 0, 73, Dean, back to you. KK78CD. Alright, Chris, thanks. So I think that was, God, was it almost three years ago? I think it was the fall of 2022. It was right after the bridge, the John Lewis Bridge, the one that's over I-5. When you're going north, it goes from Northgate over to North Seattle College where I work. And yeah, I was just up there. One day I was on my lunch break and I was checking into Jack's net, and right when Jack called for me there was this whole family walked up. And I'm calling this for everybody who's listening who hasn't heard this story, although I think everybody's probably heard it. But I think it was Amelia said, was, is that a ham radio? And I said yes. And someone said, do you know about PSRG? And I was like, I've talked to them right now. And then it was right when it was time to check in, and then I handed the radio over to you. Yeah, serendipity, the timing of that. It's those kinds of experiences that just make you, I don't know, think there are some external forces out there. So anyway, I really look forward to seeing you and the rest of the family tomorrow. That's, that'll definitely be a high point for me. So anyway, have a good night. And now we're going to go back to, let's see, it's Zephyrhills, Florida. And we're going to hear a little more from Elaine M3OMO. Over to you, Elaine. Thank you very much, Dean. This is M3OMO. First, I too want to say what a great job you're doing running this net, you and Jack. But it's good to hear you and to come in. You're the host at the moment. I usually get in with Jack or someone else. So it's good to be talking with you. We didn't talk about football. I heard you say that at the end after I had given my report. The Tampa Bay Bucks and the Tennessee Titans played tonight their first preseason game. And the Titans lost, Bucks won 3-2, well it was 29-3. And this is our 50th season. And word has it the Bucks are going back to, for how long this season, I don't know. Maybe it's just the first game. Wearing the ice cream, creamsicle orange and white uniforms that we started out with 50 years ago. I think that's kind of neat. I like those, especially with Florida. But anyway, I hope the Bucks have a good year. And my brother lives in Tennessee, so he said to me when I told him about the score for the Titans, he said, well, you know, this is just free season, which is true. We have a long season ahead of us. So I just wanted to report that to you. I don't know about the other games that we're on. He thinks the Pittsburgh Steelers are playing tonight, but we're not sure. Don't see what happens when looking forward to watching the games again. November 3, Oscar Mike Oscar. Again, have a great time. It's a social tomorrow. And yes, use my ticket to get more ice cream. This is N3OMO. Have a great night team. Bye bye. Thanks so much, Elaine. Yeah, well, I hope the Tampa Bay Buccaneers do well. I mean, especially they're in a different division than the Seahawks. So although they are the same conference, so we could meet each other down the line. But yeah, yeah, I hope they do well. Yeah. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers for so many years, they were they were considered like the worst team in the NFL. But in, you know, starting I think it was 2002, they won a Super Bowl and then they won another Super Bowl about five years ago when Tom Brady joined them. So they've become like a real they've become a force. So, yeah, it'll be interesting with the Steelers to see how they do with Aaron Rodgers. So and also, yeah, the Seahawks, they're they've got a new quarterback and Sam Darnold. And they've also got one that they drafted, Jalen Milro, who has a lot of potential. He's like this incredibly fast guy. So anyway, we'll be talking more football as the season goes on. So, I mean, a little little do a little trash talking. How about that? Well, thank you so much, Elaine, for your check in. And that was the end of that round. And we're gonna do well, I'm gonna for now I'm gonna take them as they come. So anyone else like to check in? Name and call."},{"callsign_confidence":1.0,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-08-09T22:24:00+00:00","id":15686,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":15685,"text":" Oh, DEED! Isn't this ironic? It's your... Caesar will break it, I think. For neck control. So, anyway... Uh, you're doing a good job. You know, from what I can hear. Uh... I'm freaking in and out of, uh, nap. You know, from what my medication is telling me to do. So anyway... And, Miss Elaine was just up. She's getting, uh... She's getting, uh... A whole house generator estimate next week. So that's good for her. You know, down in Florida. Sometimes she goes DEEDs into weeks without electric. You know, just like us up here. I was calling her. What I have. You know, but, uh... Maybe that's not a good fit for her. Down there, so... I told her to check with her. Propane dealer. And see what they recommend. You know? So... That's what she's gonna do. But, uh... So, anyway... My day here was beautiful. No clouds in the sky. No humidity. It was very low. And, uh... The broad proper... Was steady. 30... 30... 66... Is steady. So I think that was pretty good. So... Back to your team. Jack. Keep an eye on them. I think he's gonna be at all far. You know? JC2. SDO. Back to that control. Alright, Charlie. Thank you so much. I appreciate your check-in. And, um... Yeah, thanks for giving Elaine all the advice on the power backup and all that. So... Before we go to the next round, I'm gonna just sort of give a comment on the full moon. Yes, I'm looking out my window right now. And the moon is coming up. It reminds me of... Several years ago, back in 2016, I went to a Neil Young concert and it was outside. And I think they perfectly timed it where the moon is right about where it is now. It's just, you know, coming up over the horizon. And Neil did this song called Harvest Moon, which is like one of his really great, kind of nice... It's like the perfect song for a, like, 85 degree summer evening that this was down in Indio, California. So... Anyway, I'm gonna hand it over to Jack. KG7 ODB. Alright, Dean. We'll have to admit that I agree with everybody. And it's easy to admit that you're doing a fantastic job. I knew you would. I've always tried to twist your arm far enough that you'd actually come in and help either do a net or run a net. And I'm just so glad I finally convinced you to do it today. So thank you so much. I will have to step out at this point. So since I am going to do that, I want to say thank you everybody for checking in tonight. Dean's gonna run the rest of the net. He's gonna do a fantastic job. And thank you again, Dean. Oh, and recently, Dean, I just wanted to tell you, I've been listening to Neil Young live at Canterbury House, 1968. That whole show is just, it's just amazing. Oh, man. If some of you have not heard that show, go ahead and listen to it. It's on the internet. Just beautiful. Anyway, alright, Dean. Thank you again. This is Jack. KI7R, we're leaving you all in the cable hands of Dean. KG7ODB. Dean, take it away. Thank you. Alright, Jack. Thank you so much for your help tonight. And I look forward to seeing you tomorrow. And so, anyway, so let's wait a couple seconds. Okay, everyone, Jack is gone. So now we can have some real fun. Just kidding. Well, what we're gonna do now is we're gonna go on to round five. I don't have Jack helping me with this, so I'm gonna be, you might have to give me a little rope here. So, anyway, please come forward. Call sign a name. KI7R, KI7ODB, TREE. I got TREE and someone else was behind him. Kilo Kilo 7, Hoto Charlie Delta. KI7ODB, TREE. KI7ODB, KI7ODB, TREE. We have Chris. This is Dean, KG7 ODD. Well, I'm dealing with trying to figure out the future of my car. As I mentioned on the net last night, yesterday I drove over one of those, it's like a manhole cover thing that was sticking up maybe a little bit too high, high enough to puncture my oil pan underneath my car. So I immediately lost all my oil. And so the light came on and I, it took me about a minute or so to find a place where I could pull over and turn the car off. Right at the moment I'm pulling over I could feel that the power of the car, I could definitely feel something was going on. And unfortunately, I've done quite a bit of research online and I mentioned it on the net last night and I've gotten a few emails too. It looks kind of 50-50 as to whether my engine might be completely ruined by this. To add to it, so it's a 2001 Volkswagen Jetta diesel. And I was hoping well maybe diesels aren't as bad in this kind of situation, but actually they're worse when they lose the oil, which for technical reasons I won't get into. So my car is over at my mechanic's in the parking lot there and I have today to think about it. And I think what I'm going to do is have my mechanic look at it. And it was Chris. KK7HCD had a, one of the things he mentioned is they could look inside the oil filter and see if there are any metal shavings or pieces of debris that could indicate that the engine was damaged. Because what I don't want to do is spend what I believe to be around $700 to put a new oil pan on it. And then I need to do that and find out the engine is also toast. Because there are so many other things wrong with that car that it's just not economically feasible to do an engine rebuild on a car where if somebody, I get into a fender bender and it's totaled just because of the Blubik value even in good shape is probably only about like $1,000. So anyway, I have one other quick thing I'm going to drop."},{"callsign_confidence":1.0,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-09-05T11:49:43+00:00","id":32981,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":32980,"text":" KK7HCD, Hotel Charlie Delta. I meant to get a little earlier start but I had to get a fresh gallon of paint and that took a while and all that. So I'm a little bit behind, I was trying to get this first coat on before the sun came around and I'm kind of losing out on that because I decided to get in a shady spot on a hill and check in. Anyway, yesterday my little plumbing thing, well it ended up being successful if you will recall. In the last episode I had water dripping through the pipe that I was trying to solder, some copper pipes. And well, the truth is that with the water dripping through the pipe that it was too cool to solder because it was just like cooling it off and so I went. So I had to come up with a solution and the solution was I could put some kind of suction down the pipe to suck the water before it got up into the area where I was working. And I thought, well let's see, I can't use a straw, like a plastic straw, it's not long enough and besides it would melt. I can't use any kind of plastic tubing because that will melt when I'm soldering. So I went to the hardware store and got a few feet of, I think it was like eighth inch copper tubing and I straightened it out and then I put a little bend in the end just enough where it would be able to dip down into the pipe that was coming up where the water was coming from and I'd be able to suction that out. So that looked like it might work. I hooked it up to a wet and dry vacuum cleaner, put the whole thing together ready to solder, turned on the vacuum cleaner, got all the water out, heated up with a torch to evaporate the water that was in the pipe and then soldered it successfully. So it took me about 20 minutes to go through that whole rigmarole, but it worked out excellent. Bread or anything else I could have stuffed into the pipe just would not have worked. It would have, in that 20 minutes there was about a quart of water that came out into the wet dry vac. So it was pretty much a continuous stream. Anyway, that's it for me. Now I'll get on to my painting job, enjoy the weather, and hopefully have good weather for a couple more days because then I can put on a second coat tomorrow. KI-7-CEI. This is repeater station KI-7-CEI. Alright, success for Tim for the win. That's fantastic. Well, yeah, and I liked Sris' idea yesterday, KK7-HCD, saying use some white bread, put that in there. But man, with a quart coming through there, I would just push that out no problem. Oh boy. Anyway, well you made it all work and it sounds like you have a no-drip situation. That's excellent. Alright, Tim, well good luck with painting. Yeah, I've got some painting to do too. I was doing some sanding the other day in preparation for that and moving on to the next phase a little bit later today or tomorrow while we've got this nice weather. We finally are getting into the heirloom apples. We have PCC, the grocery store up here, will bring in special order heirlooms. And they come from Oregon, and I was kind of curious if you guys get a good selection of heirloom apples down there. I know Washington is known as the Apple State, but we just can't seem to find any heirloom apples here in Washington. They all seem to come up from Oregon, but the latest box is the Ashmead Carnals, and they're just really spectacular. Just fantastic little apples. Enjoying that. And then I was curious, I stepped out and didn't quite hear what Beedge was looking for, so I was kind of wondering what Beedge was looking for. Well, wishing everyone a 73 out there from all of us here. Thanks Dave for running the net. Say hi to Sam and the kiddies, and we'll catch you later on down the log. Have a good one. I'm glad that somebody still does that bill that is awesome, and you're cranberry relish. Yeah, that sounds really good All right. Well, I hope you have a great Thanksgiving. I'm sure we'll hear from you again before you get down there down there to Salem But nice to have you come in today. Thank you so much. Good hearing everyone out there. Glad to hear Lee's still with us. Minus one biker, I guess, but I've already had such a bad day. But brighter days ahead, right Lee? Hi, hi. Anyway. Oh, well, let's see. What are we up to? I guess I'll start off with the not so good thing. That somebody tried to, I think they were trying to steal our truck, but they went to the length of busting out a rear window and realizing that I had one of those club devices on the steering wheel. And I think that might have dissuaded them. I know those are easily defeated, but I don't know what I'm more upset about. The broken window, the fact that somebody was trying to steal our truck, now that I've got to go fix the window. Looking around, coming around for different sources of a rear quarter window for that vehicle. Right now we've got a pretty crude looking piece of plywood. Well, it was done late at night, so I'll give myself a little bit of slack for it. I'll get that fixed and be good to go and have to think of other methods to dissuade the truckies. And on to brighter news, we had a fantastic concert last night that the Girls Orchestra played. Several wonderful pieces of music and just a delightful time listening to what their orchestra had performed for all of us. So we really, really enjoyed that. And today, just Aaron Day, trying to source one of those windows. Alright, well I'll hand it back to you, Dave. Thanks for running the net, and I wish everyone a 73 out there.
