I just got done brushing the teeth, so I thought I'd come out here and say hello. I heard someone say that they heard Missy. I heard an email voice, but I didn't hear who it was. Because the electric test brush was making a lot of noise, I couldn't hear much, anything over it. But it was definitely a nice change getting up here in the cooler weather. Phoenix had cooled down the day before I left. Wednesday it rained a little bit here and there, and it brought in some cooler weather. The first couple days I was home it was in the hundreds, 103, 104. By the time I left it was down in the mid-90s. But I'm just trying to get my socks on. I wear those toed socks, the socks that have the toes in them. I'll wear those on days that I shower because I've got someplace easy to put my foot up and get the socks on. The other day, the opposite day, I always wear a knot until it sucks because I need to put it on. The day looks to be the same, very, very hot. We broke triple digits again yesterday here, so that's uncommon in Texas. Humidity in the afternoon is dropping finally, so it's getting down to 20 and 30 percent humidity rather than 50 and 60 percent. So that's nice. That makes a huge difference for us down here. Oh man, my goal today I suppose is to work on my server. I went ahead and got a VGS cloud server. I want to do more things and the hardware will allow me to do. So it's like cleaning a computer on the cloud. So I got one of those and I've already transferred one of my bots that I've created over. It's a stupid little Discord bot on my channel, but it pulls my weather and lets me know and pushes it to my cell phone faster than the National Weather Service. Well, faster than the radio and everybody else gives you the alerts. Anyhow, so it's just a little bot and it gives me a primary, secondary and tri-ary, tertiary alert zone. So it also tells me if something forwards me. That's just one of the first things I've learned how to script. So I got it migrated over last night. That was the first thing I migrated over to my new server. I got big plans, but anyhow, I will probably listen out and keep it on all day. And that's another Onion connection. Uh, thank you to the pages. I'm gonna do the second page first. You asked, uh, can we get the money out of politics? No, I mean, you can't. This is already effort. Uh, I mean, what are you gonna do? Force publishers to publish? No. Posters and stuff, you're gonna force the media to play the political ads for free. Um, all the people who print yard signs, you expect them to do it all for free? No. See, the problem is that it's an industry. And, uh, it's a cycling industry. So you will never remove the money from politics. However, there are things you can do to mitigate it. But, um, for example, you have to have an constitutional amendment before the Supreme Court should do a reversal. Because what happened was back in, uh, 2010, citizens could have been filed a lawsuit, uh, versus the FTC. And, uh, it was at the end of the day said that money created with three C's. And so that allows unlimited independent political spending by anybody. Corporations, unions, specialist interest groups, it doesn't matter. But the only way to fix that is either a constitutional amendment, which, by the way, requires two-thirds of Congress, and a ratification by the Court of the States, or a court reversal which doesn't. And it happens often. However, in the recent couple of years, it has seemed to be happening more often. Um, I like the idea of enacting public finances of elections. Okay, give them both a budget, pay for them, the taxpayer's money. Let me repeat, for everything else, not the taxpayer's money. That means you want to fix things. That's because we're getting so money, you get a tax change. Uh, and yes, that happened. Uh, it actually happens with the ten-thirds of them, too, believe it or not. That not egress. My point is, if we can spend money on stupid stuff like that, why can we spend it on some important, like, let everything be in place, let the United States run an annual election. Why can't we take even half of that money, let in half of a, a, a, as much as you have a C or a D or an E team, within the amount that each team can spend, gets lower? I mean, you have a budget, stick to the budget. That would also be good training for balancing and keeping the United States budget. Budget is wrapped, I don't think it's very positive, I'll be right back to finish this photo."},{"callsign_confidence":0.98,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-07-31T07:39:22+00:00","id":11886,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":11885,"text":" I almost switched over but I wanted to talk on a topic idea. Let's see, I would say term limits would be good. It seems like the politicians, all they do is think about their re-election. The Supreme Court, a couple of things there. I think maybe at age 75 they should have to retire. Boy, they've had some people there that could barely exist, but they wouldn't let go of it. So I don't know what it is. And what was the other thing I would guess? Oh, I think the Supreme Court, if they make a decision, that's the law of the land. It cannot be changed without three quarters of the Supreme Court changing it. So a president can't come in and change a couple of people and all of a sudden a law that's been 40 or 50 years, whatever, and they can change it. Boy, I don't like that at all. So if it's constitutional it should be a pretty much permanent thing. Let's see, term limits, I forgot, I think I had something else and I'll let it go. Probably I would say maybe Senators, or maybe H limit, or they could come back in. Like if Obama wanted to run again, he could after he had to set out at least one thing. So a Senator could re-run, but he'd have to wait until the next time, whatever that was. And House, probably House members too should be limited to how many, maybe a couple terms. But it's not going to happen probably in my time, but that would be my suggestion. Maybe seven feet of the back and a... Maybe seven feet of the back and a... I argue. I agree. Term limits, term limits. You know, if we can only allow the President to hold office for a total of eight years, this is all anybody should be able to do. If you're an average think, if you're elected, Congress or even the Senate forces are elected, it's appointed. But I don't know if they need to retire at the age of 35, but I don't think there's a set age that they should retire. I mean, for example, you're 75. You're cognizant, you're smart, you're engaging. We can tell that your faculties are all there. My dad, who passed away a year ago, was 64. For the last couple of years, he was so good in that respect. So I'm going to say no on the age limit, but yes, you're having cognitive evaluations or something. That way we can make sure that whoever is actually in office has the brainpower no matter what the age is. But again, that's probably not going to happen in my lifetime either. So I agree with you, but I appreciate you sticking around. You made me smile whenever you popped up in the clap. I'm sure you was going to be under Michigan conference, but you made my dick. That's too bad. Um, okay, well, I'm just a meatloaf lover in the house, so we're gonna go to Josh. KJ5IRQ Josh. B-loaf. Do you like it? Do you make it? How do you make it? This is KC2PKG. This is Repeater Station Kilo 7, KJ. I would like to know who actually eats meatloaf. Kilo is nasty. I mean, it's filled with crap like meat. And binders. And spices. Oh, wait. Meat. I'm the people. I love meatloaf. I, uh, actually, I don't even care for the meatloaf when it's cooked. I'll eat it, mashed potatoes and all that. Cool, whatever. Man, it's the next day. I'm telling you, that's where it's at. Meatloaf sliced up, served on some bread. Where it's at. Especially if you have a little bit of, you know, gravy and a little bit of mashed cabbage. I do the same thing on Thanksgiving, though. The next day on Thanksgiving, I usually make me a Thanksgiving sandwich. And it's gonna have turkey and cranberry and stuffing. And, yeah, it's just one big nasty sandwich. Man, it's so... Meatloaf. Yes, we do have meatloaf here. And it's different to anyone who makes it. My last cooks are completely different than how I do. I do two versions. One's a gourmet version and one's just an everyday version. The everyday version, I either get really good ground beef or I buy a chuck roaster and make it myself. There's a texture thing involved with meatloaf, I think. I also don't just use generic breadcrumbs on it. My life almost always has some sourdough bread around here somewhere. So we drive that out and we make the breadcrumbs out of that. But what I do in mine, I think a lot of people do, maybe not on this match. At least here, in my neck of the woods. We're moving our meatloaf together. We've got our meat in our binders and spices. Bell peppers and onions. It's already been softened. Sometimes I grill them and then I'll saut\u00e9 them a little bit. Get that char built into it. Lay all those profiles. And, yeah, we'll get that whole sucker mixed together. And then what I do is I'll hollow out the center and put some cheese in there. And I'll cover it up with some more meat, you see. So basically I made a meatloaf pocket for cheese. But it doesn't end with that. No, no sir. I like to go one step further. And I'll throw that sucker on my smoker. If you've never had smoked meatloaf. Now, I'm not saying liquid smoke. I've used that in the past and it works to the pitch. But it's a poor substitution for a good smoked meatloaf. Unfortunately, this day and age, eating smoked really kind of hurts my digestive track. But that's one of those things that I'll have. Gosh, I'll probably don't make meatloaf like that twice a year maybe. It's a lot of work. But, man, I'll tell you what. It is the best meatloaf. And I also kind of like Dell. I don't use ketchup. We make a barbecue sauce and it's a simple barbecue sauce. We make it for chicken, for everything basically. And we use that. So, yeah, there you go. KJ5, IOKU, back to the neck control. I'm not a big fan of smoked things, but that sounds really good. KJ5, IRQ, this is KC2, PTG. All right. We will move on to KN6, UYZ. Do you like meatloaf, John? And do you make meatloaf? Or what is your favorite meatloaf? What about you? Uh, lost your name. Okay. KN6, UYZ. This is KC2, PKG. Uh, good morning again, KN6, UYZ. Yeah, I like meatloaf a lot. Although I've never made it in 77 years. Uh, because I don't really know how. I don't really know much about spices and things like that. Uh, I guess my favorite way of having it would be the way my mother used to make it. However that was. So, I guess I like meatloaf. Uh, but, uh, what, barbecue sauce on the top? Yeah, I'm sure that would be tasty, and I would be happy to eat that. Especially with some mashed potatoes. But, uh, the way I was used to it was with some kind of ketchup, uh, flavoring on the top. So that would be my preferred way to go. So I don't have anything that interesting, I just don't make it. Never have anything that interesting about it. I don't want to have any of that. Uh, I'll tell you what that is. I'm going to get a little bit of a good slice of meatloaf. Uh, I've got a little bit of a good slice of meatloaf. And, uh, I've got the chicken and the chicken. I just don't make it, never have, but if somebody wants to invite me over, I'll be happy to come and eat it for you. KN6UYZ, back to Nat. Beep. KN6UYZ. All right, we gotta take her. If you got extra meat, we'll invite John over. This is KC2PKG. Oh, and you got my mind to whirl. Josh, with the meatloaf sandwiches, they really are good. They really are good. That used to be my first wife's favorite thing in the world was meatloaf sandwiches. And you really have to work on the body of the loaf itself, so it can be sliced very, very thin. And that takes a little extra binding to make it work like that. All right, Chuck, AA4HI. Hey, loaf, do you like it? Do you make it? And if you do, how do you make it? This is KC2PKG. Beep. You know, Cory, I'm not a big fan of meatloaf. It's okay. But it's not my favorite food. Well, I mean, maybe my wife maybe makes it a couple times a year, and never in the summer. You know how it is here. I don't see anything like that in the summer. At least me, I don't. So I don't really go crazy when I hear it's being cooked. I'm like, okay. I don't think it's wonderful, so to speak. But anyway, that's the way it goes. What do y'all like, what was it like? So I'm great, I don't like it. With some ketchup on top, onions, and whatever else is in it. But I don't know, I really am not like cheese. I can't wait to eat it. So I probably went on to the first one who says I really just don't like meatloaf. Anyway, back with you, AA4HI. Beep. Ah, we got one. AA4HI, this is KC2PKG. I was waiting for somebody to say I really don't like meatloaf. So you won the prize, gold star for you. All right, Terry, MM0RKN. Meatloaf, do you make it, do you like it? Is it different in Scotland somehow? We'd love to know all your thoughts about meatloaf. So this is KC2PKG, over to you, MM0RKN. Beep. Beep. We'd use lean scotch beef mince, three rashers of bacon, finely chopped, an onion, finely chopped, carrots, tomato, and some herbs would be put in there as well. Maybe like chives or parsley or something. And you'd have three tablespoons of fresh bread. And it would be put into a baking tin. Just cook, you can slice it into nice slices. It's perfect for sandwiches as well. So yeah, that's how the traditional Scottish meatloaf is there today. MM0RKN, back to net control. Beep. MM0RKN, this is KC2PKG. That sounds good. That sounds like a recipe that would work. You know, there's two basic philosophies I've noticed for meatloaf. You can have meatloaf with gravy and potatoes, or you can have meatloaf with ketchup. And I've never seen the two put together, but the philosophy up here in Maine, where we go, the meatloaf has gravy on it, tons of it, and lots of potatoes. So meat and potato cake. But when I was growing up, it was sliced much finer. It had ketchup on it, there's the eight, it had ketchup. November, Quebec, November. All-star notes, please use. And so just a totally different thing. Some people put them in a loaf sheet, and some people put them on a baking sheet, a rimmed baking sheet, and they just leave it open, a mound. That's how my son does it. And either one works, either one works. Okay, Bill, N9OFU. Meatloaf, we're talking meatloaf here. Do you like it? Do you make it? And if so, how? This is KC2PKG. All right, well, no, I don't make it. And my wife doesn't make it. So if I eat it, the only chance I get to eat it is if I find it out in the wild. I use a bow and arrow, shoot it, take it down. You know? No, but there's Chuck's Up, Flying J, and Pilot. They all have meatloaf. And every now and then, I'll grab one of their slices of meatloaf, you know, get it with potatoes and vegetables. And it comes with a red paste on it, either ketchup or something. Similar, maybe I have tomato paste, but I think it's probably more ketchup. I think my mom used to make it when I was a kid, because I seem to recall having it when I was a kid. But other than that, it's just being able to grab it. Sometimes when I'm out on the road and I get a hankering for it, I remember, every now and then I might find a buffet that has some meatloaf as one of the items on there. So I usually grab some of that too. But that's what I know about meatloaf. I don't eat it. It's not something I go out of my way for that I have to have, but I don't mind it. It's a fine meat-like substance that I do enjoy eating from time to time. All right, back to you. Oops, sorry, sorry. Also, the other last question. I remember my mom had gotten a screen door, a wooden screen door from someone who moved and it didn't fit her door. So it was my chore to take that thing and make it fit. So I had to do some trimming here and there, then add some stuff on the bottom to keep the bugs out. I totally forgot about that. So I was proud that I was able to get that put together and up for her and her mobile home there in Casa Grande. Back to you. N90FU, this is KC2, PKG. It's interesting, because I just finished retrimming a screen door to fit in a very, very old porch where everything is warped. So we used a spring and a wire to pull it tightly closed. Come on, because screen doors aren't much fun if they've got big cracks around them. All right, KM4QVC Jeff Meatloaf, we're talking Meatloaf. Do you like it? Do you have it often? Do you not make it? And if you do, then how do you make it? This is KC2, PKG. KC2, PKG, KM4QVC. Josh was talking about she just bakes it to that right, I don't know, it's kinda crispy around the edges a little bit, and then ketchup on top. So I think she puts that on there because she gets it out. Anyway, I love it, I love it. And later that same day, we used that for supper. I'll make the sandwich with a little mayo, white bread, and just a touch more ketchup. So yeah, man, I'm all about it for KM4QVC. All right, another big vote for Meatloaf. This is KC2, PKG, thank you very much, KM4QVC. And we'll try Ralph again, see if he's out there. Hey, YQJ, do you like Meatloaf, Ralph? And do you make it? We'd love to know how you make it. This is KC2, PKG."},{"callsign_confidence":0.94,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-08-04T06:43:44+00:00","id":13997,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":13996,"text":" All right. Sorry, sorry. I was, uh, declining a phone call. Uh, I guess the cat's sort of out of the bag. Today's my birthday. Don't make a big deal of it. I hate birthdays. They're just another day. But my mama calls me every year and, uh, tells me the story of the birth in 1980. The hottest... I don't know if it's still the hottest on my record. I think it is. The hottest record on the record in Texas. Uh, I don't know. I get a story every year. Anyhow, yeah, it's just a big... Uh, but that's why I don't like going back to you. Uh, what is common sense? Man, that is a great question. And it's going to change depending on who tells you what common sense is. Because there's no set definition, I don't think. Uh, I mean, there may be guidelines, but, I mean, my common sense, in general's common sense, are two totally different common senses. You know, if we hail common sense, it'll jump on the snowmobile or his quad and go to the store. That's not common sense here because I'd get pulled over and probably get a ticket. Uh, so, yeah, common sense is different, I think, depending on who's defining the common sense. But I would say that it's sound judgment. I think sound judgment is a good way to put it. Um, I think it's derived from experiences, it's derived from book learning. Um, I don't think you gain common sense from learning anything educationally in the mindset of books or in structured learning. I think common sense is something you pick up as you go. Some people pick it up faster than others. I think that's a very big point to make. Um, some examples I had written down. Okay, uh, wait for people to exit an elevator. I'd drive me nuts to get on the elevator, uh, and I'm standing on the elevator trying to get off and people are rushing to get on. It's like, yo, wait a minute, let me get off and that's going to give you more room. Common sense, right? Uh, looking for a reason to cross the street. I would consider that common sense. Uh, checking the weather forecast to see if you need an umbrella or not. Pretty common sense-like thing. Um, I wrote down a four or five other ones. Uh, here's a good one. Avoiding your phone during important meetings. Uh, and I would probably push out on not only meetings but interviews or anything else along the way. You know, just basic common sense. Don't play electricity while it's raining outside if you're outside. Uh, disconnect your antenna if you have no safety protocols built in place so that if lightning hits it, it doesn't fly everything in your house. So those are the common sense type things that I think of. And again, I think it's very ambiguous. I can't say that word very well. Um, to a lot of people. I hope that gave you an inkling of, I don't know, common sense with that. Um, oh, hey, and let's say if you really need a gig understanding Greek common sense by Thomas Paine. KJ5-IRQ, back to neck control. Alright, KJ5-IRQ. This is KC2-PKG. Great big description. You seem to hint. It is a result of experience as Daryl did. So that's two pretty experiential things. And everybody and his brother is now asking AI what common sense is. Um, A8-4-H-O. What do you think common sense is, Ron? And do you have an example for us? So what are you? A8-4-H-O. This is a common sense. A8-4-H-O. This is KC2-PKG. Yeah, I've had to take quite a few exams in my time. And you're not going to get through them if you think, you know, the answers to the questions require that you have a lot of common sense. I mean, you really got to know the material. Otherwise, you know, training and experience helps a lot with great instincts. And then you can say, well, I have good common sense. For an example, you know, my stock trading. There's a lot that goes into that. And somebody just getting into it, they tend not to do well at first. So common sense would tell you that you should get some training before you get started. Instead of rushing right into it. So that's how I view common sense. And a few examples. I don't have any more right now offhand. So I'm going to give it back to you. A8-4-H-O. Ron, Miramar, flood. A8-4-H-O. This is KC2-PKG. Okay? Okay, that wasn't too bad. K-N-6-U-Y-Z. John. Common sense. What do you think it is? And the other example. This is KC2-PKG. K-N-6-U-Y-Z. Well, the only example that I have that comes to mind is don't walk in front of an oncoming train. That seems to be common sense to me. But I think more importantly, I went to the internet on it. And I saw a couple of definitions. One that."},{"callsign_confidence":0.98,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-07-20T06:28:47+00:00","id":8243,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":8242,"text":" I bet you do, but I can't access you whenever you have a studio. I bet that means you lose half your living space over the show. I don't think I would like that. Oh, and all Banana Games are streamed live and free on YouTube. You can actually watch past Baseball Games. We missed Friday night's game. I have an awful fortune of memory that I don't remember. We missed it because it was Friday evening. Anyhow, I must have known it was fun, so I don't remember it. But I missed the game, and so I was pretty adamant about missing it. So I watched the Friday night's game. Basically had a double header. Made myself a double header. And so I did that while I worked at the server. And Danielle, I mean... Oh, and so Banana Ball, they restrict two hours' time limit. Like, they don't want the long, drawn-out Baseball Games, you know? So what happens is they take that and they don't default. But the two-hour limit runs out. If they've already done it in that inning, no big deal. But if they save this in the seventh or eighth inning, well, that inning becomes the final inning, period. And how scoring is done is really interesting. So, you know, each team gets a chance to that top of the order, you know, top of the inning, bottom of the inning. Well, whoever gets the most runs during that inning scores a point. And so they win the inning basically when you get a point. And so they do that for every inning up until the last inning. Whether it's the final inning by ninth or whether it's the final inning by time, every run and the final inning count as a point. So if you go in, you know, if you have a couple of points for each team, and if it's 0-0 or a tie up 1-1 at the end of the inning, nobody gets a point. So, hang on one second. I don't have any shoulders, Bobby. That's for Mommy. Sorry, that's for the shot to be short-shoted. I don't have shoulders in the house. I don't dream shoulders. Anyhow, it's a pitch-shot thing. The way that they changed the rules a little bit today, I would say, the way that they have so much fan immersion of the game. They got a male cheerleading squad called the Dap-Bots. You can imagine what that's like. They have grannies that dance. They have, you know, they have a little, what is it called, a banana baby. They have a banana baby every game. And what they do is they basically lift it up in the air, and rock it down the whole plate like we thought that would have done some music at all. So, it made these other groups fun times. You know, it kind of reminds me of carnivals or something that's just here. And I'll tell you who I got. We got W0GL, thank you for checking in, Alan. You were one and done. Darryl VL1UKZ, I can't wait to hear why you were up all night. MD KN4LBF and Josh KJ5IRQ and Ron AA4HO. What's gonna do for us? Like, you didn't get any sleep at all last night? Your sleep schedule must have really messed up. What's going on with you? This is KC2PKG, over to you, VL1UKZ. Well, it all started yesterday afternoon. Bodies started showing up left, right, and center at my neighbor's house next door. So I figured it was his wake. And so I dropped by to extend my sympathies and whatnot to his sisters and mom and stepfather and stuff. And I ended up sticking around over there for a few hours, just talking to everybody. I was running into people that I hadn't seen in, Jesus, decades, man. Anyway, I ran into a friend of mine, and I hadn't seen her since, Jesus, since a year or two after high school, maybe. And we got to talking for most of the evening. And then she dropped over here, and we were having a chat and smoking a few and watching TV and a few other things and whatnot. And just ended up up till like the middle of, well, seven o'clock this morning, I think she went home, something like that. So I was just up all night, man. And so yeah, I'll end up catching a few hours later this afternoon or something like that. I ain't got much on the go today. So it was no big deal. But yeah, I figured, man, there was bodies. There was like 50 or 60 people there, I'd say, easily. And bodies were... Ha ha ha ha ha! Oh, Chuck. Man, oh man, he's a smart guy, that Chuck. Yeah, so ended up hanging out all night, and here we are. Then I got on the radio about an hour and a half ago, and I'd just been chatting with George and Brian and Ron jumped in there just toward the end. So yeah, I'd just been awake all night, man. You know, nothing wrong catastrophically or anything like that. So yeah, back over to you, man. V01, UKZ, this is KC2PKG. Well, that's a nice story for a change. When you said all these bodies showing up next door, I was like, uh oh, what is that about? All right, VE1WIN, Peter. What is going on with you? How was your weekend, Peter? What are your plans? Uh, let's see, let's find that most efficient way to narrow this down, huh? KJ5, IRQ. If it's, uh, going to my countries would take a while. Golden continents would be quicker. Uh, there's only seven of them. And I think we can probably rule out and on it, huh? Or it might be a good one to pay for it, would you? Um, so that's gonna leave six contacts. So we can't really do it by a climate because it almost sort of gets hot and almost sort of gets cold. Yes, contacts are probably, that's probably the easiest way. Um, let's go with, uh, oil in Europe. Is it a place in Europe? No, it is not. It is not in Europe. That was the third question and we go to Ron, AA4HL, what is your question, Ron? Okay, uh, is it related to a country? It is definitely related to a country. To a country. Alright, so it's not in the US, it's not Asia, not Europe. And it is related to a country. Um, we've been around it all. KN6UYZ, what is your question? This is KC2PKG. Alright, well, KN6UYZ, how about South America? It is not in South America. Next one is AA4HI. AA4HI, what is your question? Chuck, what is your question? Is it in Oceania? Oh, New Zealand and Australia, that area. No, it is not in Oceania. I hardly ever hear anybody say that. Oceania, but you're right, it's not there. It is definitely not there. So, uh, Terry, MM0RKN, what is your question? What is your question? MM0RKN, is it a desert-like place? Yes, it definitely qualifies as a desert-like place. Alright, and then we go to Bill, N90FU. Oh, yeah, you got it on key. Alright, excuse me, so it's a desert-y, is it somewhere in the Middle East? Is it in the East? Is it in the East? Is it in the East? Desert-y, is it somewhere in the Middle East? Yes, it is, it is in the Middle East. Alright, we move on down to Jeff Cam for QBC. I don't know if you've played this game before, but we're playing 20 questions, we're trying to narrow down the place I'm looking for. And so far, it's not in the US, it's not in Asia, not Europe, it's related to a country. It's not South America, not Oceania, and it is in a desert-like place, and I'm gonna tell Bill that it is in the Middle East. So what's your question? Is it Saudi Arabia? No, it is not Saudi Arabia, although it is close by. Okay, so it's not Saudi Arabia. And A, Y, Q, J, Ralph, what is your question? This is KC2PKG. Oh, me? just need time for those things to reconnect it happens with my steam deck too if I turn it off and turn it back on it'll say the game you're playing sometimes needs to be shut down if it's an online game it needs to be shut down and restart it before you can play it again says to reconnect to the servers and all that stuff yeah I wouldn't worry too much about it Russell I don't think it's a big deal my ride is here though I gotta run out I'll be back in a few minutes they have like this big restaurant here they called chow time and you pay one fee and then you can get up a couple of times and fill your plate with different things and one of the choices for muscles I usually grab a couple of them every time I eat at the restaurant there are a lot like clams another shellfish I like is conch it's a nice white meat and even better is abalone only that's a Pacific a species that's on the Pacific coasts and not really here so anytime abalone is available here it's imported and it's real expensive because it's coming from the other side of the country yes here in South America there abalone isn't that good I had it I was looking forward to it when I went to Chile and when I I got a hold of some I was disappointed it wasn't the same beautiful white flavor flesh that the abalone from the Pacific off the coast California has there are some cultures that don't like shellfish for the idea of what they eat their filter feeders so they they get particles or stuff off the bottom you know like lobster they eat everything and anything but the only bad thing about it is oysters do harbor that bacteria if the tips in there can make you sick but otherwise their nature's natural recyclers so you know in modern times we realized that it's not bad to eat because whatever they eat that's bad they only keep what's good that ends up in their tissues and everything else is eliminated so there's really nothing bad about it though there are people that even if it doesn't have anything to do with religious reasons you know they they won't eat lobsters or shellfish or anything because you know they witnessed what they'll and which is which just turned them completely off I never seen it I've been under order a lot of times observed them but the one particular person in particular who I knew really well won't eat shellfish at all they're not from a culture that considers that a sin or anything like that they just the whole idea of it but I think that they're pretty good at their job and they do it well there's nothing bad in there and anymore after they whatever they consumed so I don't need them anymore though anyways but when I get a for a child back to Russell and neck control this is repeater station kilo kilo seven to two located in Shelton Washington baby none in escape this is a case I have IRQ oh sorry I stayed up too late last night but the first thing I read this morning I say turn on the news I don't really actually turn on the news I read the news but uh any other thing I read this morning was that that New York City socialistic candidates that's gonna be on my mind a lot today I think I mean they're normalizing it once I gotta yell up my dogs and then such a good dog but yeah they're normalizing it this they're softening what it really is you know they're saying well fair housing yeah but who's a fair to the people who don't own the housing I mean that's that's it's really not fair to them either it's giving them a hand out rather than a hand up in my opinion but it's good the people actually own the property you know I don't get a good definition and the one that's normally used today is pretty broad and I don't like broadness I mean we need to be specific if there's different varying degrees of socialism but there may be names like left or right or for left or for that maybe that's what socialism needs socialism for socialism idiotic societal though you know I don't like the idea of socialism you know the biggest reason why I don't like socialism really boils down to the fact that it's a redistribution plan here we go so this is kind of what what definition I've come up with is that socialism is an economic and political system where the community or government owns and controls the main businesses and resources they do they take over people's private property whether it's a business whether it's property land they don't take your clothes you know they're not gonna take your TV not gonna take your gaming system or probably radios but I mean they are planning on taking your hand they plan on taking the guns they plan on taking your free dung the other round getting good at that anyhow my point being is that we're not talking about it enough I would like to talk to socialistic people to figure out what their viewpoints really are and what they really stand for it rather than just reading it but I don't know if I actually met a socialist anyhow just my viewpoint this morning I'll send it back to you also kj5irq back to neck control"},{"callsign_confidence":0.94,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-08-04T06:04:12+00:00","id":13986,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":13985,"text":" The 01 UKZ, you have a smooth ride and an easy shot. In the meantime, we're going to go to the KN4LBF. J, what have you repaired or restored that you think you did a pretty good job on? It's over to you, D. This is KC2PKG. This is KN4LBF. This is D. It was something very simple, but I am proud of it. When my parents died, they had this Asian 3D face made of porcelain. It's about two feet long and one feet wide. And I'm looking at it. And through the years, it's about 75 years old right now, it looked like it needed a little uplift. So the figure on top hat is a female, and it had a crown on top of her head. And I repainted the crown gold and just her sleeve gold. And the retouch was amazing. It just made an amazing improvement how it looked. And I'm just looking at it right now. And I'm pretty proud of it. Back to you, Gray. This is KN4LBF. KN4LBF. This is KC2PKG. Porcelain. Have you repaired or restored porcelain? That sounds very hard. It really does. And the fact that you painted it and you're proud of it, that's great. That is great news. Josh, PJ5IRQ, what's something that you either repaired or restored that you're particularly proud of the job you did? This is KC2PKG. Open to you, Josh. PJ5IRQ. KC2PKG. This is KJ5 on cue. Something I would have had that I'm particularly proud of, oh, gosh, I remodeled a house before. That was pretty cool. I'd say I remodeled houses around here. And the houses are houses, I should especially clarify that. I've repaired a lot of things. KitchenAid. My wife loves the KitchenAid mixer. And all year after we bought our, I think it was our second one, it went out like the first one. I was getting really frustrated with it. So I did some digging around. And it's the brushings. I don't know why I didn't think about that with the first one. I fell a fool because I threw the first one away for like $20. I got to replace the brushings and kept the first one. I replaced the KitchenAid with some good brushings. And gosh, it's been years. And it's still working just fine. She uses it all the time. That was personally a good fix. KitchenAid mixes, you know the cream and galakop, at least that's what I was really concerned. There ain't no point in paying more money than that for something that does the same thing. Let's see. I do have a project coming up. As soon as it starts cooling off into the fall, rather I want to be outside all day every day. We have an old family bench. Joseph E. Ford built this bench. Not that y'all would know him, but he happened to be one of the first people in the Middle of Wales to open the store. And she's got to give you an idea how old this bench is. I have an actual picture of him in this last sitting on it. It is 1888. It's over the rock. It was my grandparents, of course. It got passed down to me. And it's an old, bad shape. I mean, it is a bad shape. But we're going to look into repairing it. I want to keep it as original as possible with as much wood as possible. So I may end up using clear epoxy or something to fill in some voids. But the idea is to bring it back to a shade of a swirly void. I can't tell you how many seeds of the fence people in my family have sat in that bench over the years. I mean, if some of them could tell a story, wouldn't you love to sit and have that word pour out the stories since, at least in my family since the late 1880s? Man, talk about an explosion of lighting ideas. Anyhow, yeah, so that's coming up. That bench, I'm really excited about it. The only thing I don't know is who gets it after me. I've got two boys and a daughter. And it's always stayed with somebody with a last name before it. So I'm sure it will stay with my boys. And I sure it won. And so I'm going to see who ends up at the house in a safe place for it. And that's probably who will get it. Sorry, I had to reset for a second. I was running out of time. Anyhow, that's it. I'll send it back to you, KJ5. I'll help you back to KG2PKG. KJ5 IRQ, this is KG2PKG. A bench, a family bench. That sounds cool. That sounds cool. I'd love to see a picture of that. KI7ODD, I see you in the text box. You want to give it a shot now? Tell us how your weekend was. Maybe tell us about something you restored or repaired that you're particularly proud of. Over to you, KI7ODD. This is KG2PKG. This is better now. This is KI7ODD. KI2KC2PKG. I actually am thinking, let me think. Oh, yeah. I restored stuff before that. My squeaky here is my fan. It just squeaks, squeaks, squeaks. So don't worry about that. I should have read this text thing. Ah, never again. All right, I hope my audio's better. I'm sorry about earlier. It was my rig. I need a new one. I need a new rig. Gosh darn it. All right. What I did yesterday was I was thinking about beading, playing with my, getting my crafting done. I did some sewing last weekend, but this weekend I am going to go on and be at the Idaho State Convention for ham radio this year, which is going to be awesome. I hope I get the 7800 icon. I hope I get it. Just hopefully I can get it this time. I don't, I don't. I can't, I couldn't even sleep last night. Sorry about that interference earlier. All right, have a good day guys and gals. Okay, this is KI 7 ODD, Murray in Spokane, Washington. KI 7 ODD, I'm Murray. That's pretty good. That's pretty good. That, your audio sounded fine. That time it was perfect going through there. So I've got you on the list. We'll be hitting you again. And Steve, N0BF, I've got you on the list too. We're just going to keep working down the way we're doing it. DA 4 HO. Ron, is there something that you repaired that you are particularly proud of? So what do you do? A4 HO, this is KC 2. Yeah, you know, you might remember me talking about, you know, when I redid the bathroom and the shower, I put caulking and you're supposed to put silicone on it, and I put silicone on it. And I put silicone on it. And I put silicone on it. And I put silicone on it. And I put silicone on it. And I put silicone on it. And I'm supposed to put silicone. And then I, you know, when it started leaking underneath, I had to get all of that out and redo it and put silicone in there. But that's really nice. You know, I got granite top on the, you know, the sink, new sink and toilet, completely new shower. And it's really nice. I did the water heater and the copper pipe I had left over, I made myself a UHF antenna that I use with my All Star Network. Whenever I'm on my mobile rig or HT and I'm on All Star, the signal goes through the antenna before you hear me on here if I was to do that. And I got one of those nano-VNA's to make sure, you know, it was resonant at the right frequency. That I needed it at. All kinds of things. The vehicle I drive now is new. The one before that, even though this was an upgrade, it had all of the features because I put in a lot of aftermarket stuff. The GPS I added and a whole mess of things. The side rails to step into it. Of that I do, but I didn't have to do that with this last vehicle I just bought. You know, because it came with it all. But I did install and put the automatic garage door opener in. And that I'm pretty proud of. It works really good. Now I just drive up to the house and I don't even go out the front door anymore when I take the car. You know, it's in and out through the garage. The door opens, pull the car in, door goes down, come in through the garage now. If I think about it, there's a lot of stuff. Except for the stuff, you know, I don't have the tools for it. I have to pay somebody to do it. AA4HO, Ron Nirma, Florida, back to you, Gray and Nick. AA4HO, this is KC2PKG. And it is all the something with the house. You know, I lived in a house in Morristown for 30 years. And I can't tell you how many weekends I spent either under the car or working on the house or cleaning up that yard. It was just endless, endless. I'm so glad to be out of that. Because I don't like any of that stuff. As it turns out, it's kind of fun to create things. It's kind of fun to repair places. But when you're doing it in all your free time, I built a car there. An Aztec 7 from FiberFab, which goes on a Volkswagen chassis. And that would best two years of my life. I'm never going to get back. I went to sleep, because it's fiberglass, I went to sleep crunchy every night. It was just terrible. My wife hated it. Alright, KN6UYZ. What have you repaired or restored that you're particularly proud of? Okay, John, this is KC2PKG. Over to you. KN6UYZ, thanks so much for having me as usual. Yeah, you know, in 1970 I bought a Corvette. And, you know, come around 1974 or 5, the car needed a great job. And so I decided to take care of it myself. And jacked up each tire individually at the house. And decided I'd grab a screwdriver and place it between the calipers and the rotors and pry the brakes apart so I could insert a new pad on all four wheels. Well, that worked great. Good job. Padded myself on the back. I took off in that car and next thing I know, I know, the brakes were pushing all the way to the floor. I had to have that car towed back to the dealership and it cost me $1500 in 1975 to have that brake job done properly. Apparently you're supposed to relieve the pressure in the system, in the brake fluid system because I didn't do that before pulling everything apart and losing the, and I blew the seals and all the pistons. And this is a dual caliper system. And it was very expensive. I don't know what $1500 in today's money might be, but it was a problem. So with the exception of not being proud about my brake job, yeah, that's one of my better jobs. Back in that K and 6 UYZ. K and 6 UYZ. Boy, that brought back memories. This is KC2, PKG. I used to always do my own brakes and all of that stuff. And what it leads to is you're driving down the highway two states away from your house and you're thinking to yourself, did I put that spring back in? In the left rear tire? Did I put that spring in? Those were my thoughts after working on my car almost every single time. I was like, I don't remember. And of course, the first brake takes three hours. And the second one takes two hours. Third one, you know, takes about an hour and a half and the fourth one is over so fast you can't remember if you put the spring in or not. It just gets better and better as you go around. Alright, AA-4HI. Chuck, what have you restored or repaired that you are particularly proud of? It's over to you Chuck, AA-4HI. This is KC2, PKG. This is repeater station key low. We had some heads up and some chairs and last night I had to figure that out. And it took a long time. A lot of winter to get on the fingers. It's just about all done. And I want to do it again now. I can understand why people charge so much to do it. You know, time and of course it's just too easy to work. But, um, you have to wear your guns, you know. It just takes a while to do things. Yeah, it is. Anything you're rushing through sometimes it's just not going to be the way you expected it. So, um, anyway, same with the old antennas I like to try out, to build. I mean, you just have to think about it, give it a shot. If not, repurpose it. But, uh, the chairs I think are the best thing where you're wrong. So, what I've done in handling them, they took a long time. They done, throughout the summer just working on them. You know, when she was out. So, uh, anyway, that would be it. Back on to you, AA4-HI. AA4-HI, this is KC2-PKG, Wicker work. That's weaving, weaving with Wicker. That is a big job, especially if you've never done it before. Because you have to figure out what the pattern is. And then kind of trace it back. And a lot of those things, as I remember, the Wicker is fastened with a wooden peg. You know, it goes in, you put the Wicker in the hole and then you pound it in a little piece of wood to hold it there. Yours may work differently, but the ones that I worked on, that's what you had to do. And you had to get that peg out first. Um, it's not specialized, but it is trying. It's very trying, I think. MM0RKN, Gary, when you repaired or restored, you think you did a pretty good job on. It's KC2-PKG over to MM0RKN. MM0RKN returning. Well, Gary, very frequently, I have to repair and restore Lego figures that have broken various Lego models. Cabs, trucks, DAF, radar, all sorts. So quite good at fixing those when they've been knocked over or accidentally dropped. So frequently, do not a bad job of getting them back together. But on another note, I really enjoy restoring Kenny Oak furniture. One thing that I did was an ottoman, many years ago, not enough. But it was one of these ottomans that would store, you know, bed sheets and that could be at the end of the bed. And it was very old, and it seemed better days, but I actually managed to sand it all down, repainted it all, then put a nice kind of fabric, soft cushion on top, and managed to turn that into a sort of storage box come window seat. So that was one of my things that I was quite pleased about in the past. But recently, not so much time really to do a lot of repairing and restoring. I was going to put it in front of my son's PC. He said that I had to play one of his games, and I couldn't get it fixed, so I basically had to do a complete refresh of his laptop. I think he's overloaded it with too many DLCs. So we're going to go back to the start again. So yeah, I'm repairing that. Hopefully I'll do a good job. MM0RK in. Back to you there, Gray in the net. MM0RK in. This is KC2PKG. That's what I used to do for a living. Put people's workstations back together. After they just put something dumb on it, or they had a problem of some kind or another, reallocating memory, and all of that stuff. I'm glad I don't do that anymore. I really am. Alright. Bill, N9OFU, what have you repaired or restored? Do you think you did a pretty good job on it? Over to you, Bill. N9OFU. This is KC2PKG. Alright, I've been trying to think, trying to think, trying to think. And most of the things I'm coming up with is just, you know, things I've put together, you know, like furniture, you know. I love Ikea. Some of that's been pretty intricate when you get into some of these. I'm trying to think. Like the, well the cabinets, I don't know if the cabinets, but the drawers and stuff. Getting all that lined up properly and put together when it's got, you know, two or three different sections, an open section. I'm trying to remember, I know I've done my repairs or in battle. It always seems like something needs to be fixed, put together, or repaired at the house. But nothing really stands out that I really floated over. It's just, you know, it needs to be fixed to fix it. And that's all I can think of at this time. Sorry, I'm just not coming up with anything. Alright, N9OSU. Not to worry about it. KC2, PKG. Bringing that Ikea stuff together, I found one of the neatest tricks was to take the Allen wrench that they give you and saw it off, saw the curved part off, the bend in it off, and then put it in a drill or a driver. And then things go much faster. I'm turning that little Allen wrench. Alright, KM4QBC. You do a lot of repair and restoration, Jeff. Council, what's one project, or two if you want, that you're particularly proud of, that you really think you did a great job? It's over to you. KM4QBC. This is KC2, PKG. KC2, PKG, KM4QBC. Well, great. One thing that came to mind, my wife and I both worked on this, like Josh was talking. My grandpa's old house was a really neat place for me to hang out. I had a CB radio in there. That's before I got into ham radio. Anyway, long story short, the old house was just a plank-mored house, you know, back in the mountains. And a big tree fell right through the middle of it, so we salvaged what we could out of it. And I got all the windows and doors. And my wife and I, I still got a bunch of windows that are the way of the house when I first got them, but we sanded these window panes down into the old six panes. They got six panes in them, and you know, the glazing and all that. So we redid those and repainted them, and we put pictures of our family in there and hung them on the wall. So we're really proud of those, and it's really a special thing. Plus our Volkswagens. My son and I are working on an old bug now, so pretty proud of that one. That's you, Gray. That's a couple. This is repeater station Kilo Kilo 7 November-November. I thought you were led with the Volkswagens. Is that the one you're working on now? Is it the black bug? Back to you just for a second here. KN4QBC. The black one was actually done by somebody else, but you know, a Volkswagen's clear there's always something in there to work on. So, excuse me, we have done a little work on the motor, done a little work on the interior. Used to touch it up to make it a little better than it was, you know. So the next thing I'm going to do is just a little more work on the motor. I'm thinking I'm going to put a new carburetor on there and probably a new Kilo. So, just to make it a little sharper, because I'm going to start driving it to work this time of year, when hopefully it starts to cool down. And next month or so, after August anyway, I'll be driving it to work in the day and in the night. Can't drive that thing in the summertime, it's just so hot. You can drive it in the evening some, but it's just so hot here in the summer. It's hard to drive in that time of year, but it's fun at certain times, but when it gets up at about night and you're in that thing, you're like being in a sauna, I guess. You can't wear the work clothes down the road and be all sweaty and going into work there. Anyway, back to you, KN4QBC. KN4QBC, Volkswagen repair guy. It's good. I think Volkswagens are really cool. And I could kick myself for when I finally ended up in a car that I didn't have a Volkswagen van. I mean, they're the coolest. They really are. And I think back on that time I was thinking, oh man, I went out of the hotel room. Wherever I went, you know, I didn't need to sleep inside, I could sleep in a car. Which is a fun thing when you're a kid to do. Maybe not so much now. Any of YQJ, Ralph, are you out there? We're asking people what is a project that they've worked on where they restored or repaired something and they're particularly proud of it. Ralph, hey, YQJ, over to you."},{"callsign_confidence":1.0,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-08-04T06:37:44+00:00","id":13996,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":13995,"text":" I don't think Linda Lou makes it too often, maybe every couple of months or so. She makes it with half Italian sausage and half hamburger. I think she might put sausage and crackers in there, break them up and put them in there. I eat meatloaf with ketchup on it. I don't put ketchup on everything, but I do prefer ketchup on meatloaf. I made with half Italian sausage. I don't put Italian sausage. When I made spaghetti, I think we used all Italian sausage. It's a little spicier. A friend of mine 50 years ago told me to put black olives in my spaghetti. So we do that. They have mushrooms and black olives in there. Anyway, I don't know, I'm concerned about common sense. I don't think the government has any common sense. Maybe some of you will be back. And there you go. Nice segue, Mel. Thank you. Common sense is a phrase we use all the time. I'm never sure when someone says, use your common sense, or something like that, what they're talking about. What are they talking about? Common sense. So I'm going to ask you guys, tell me what you think makes common sense. What does it look like? And give me an example of it. So I will go to Gerald first. B01UKZ, tell me about common sense, Gerald. This is KZ2PKG. Ah, geez, Grey, you're asking the wrong one now. I have a little lot of common sense, man. I don't know. Common sense is, F around and find out. That's what I'm going to say common sense is. You know, if you ain't got it, you F around and find out. That's it. I've done that so many times over the years that it's not even funny at this point. But yeah, now common sense, man, it's obvious. You think about what you're going to do before you do it. That way you don't have to F around and find out, right? You just think about stuff. I always think about stuff before I do it. I joke a lot, but you got to have common sense. You really do. Because if you don't, like I've said, I got a little bit of common sense. I didn't have any common sense back in the day. I won't fly ramps on anything with a wheel, be it one wheel, two, four, doesn't matter. I ain't flying no ramps on nothing. I did back in the day. Didn't have common sense. Cut my face up pretty bad. So I started growing a mustache, believe it or not. I flew over to bars on my bike and scraped my face up so bad on the pavement when the wound started to heal. I started to grow hair on my top lip and then I started to shave it and then I just grew a mustache. I had a pretty thick mustache by 15. I could buy beer at the store, underaged, at 15 and 16 years old. I was the go-to guy that could fool the people working at the store. They didn't know me. They didn't know any of us. But I had hair on my lip so I was more confident than most. But yeah, I did some stupid crap over the years but now I've definitely had the common sense knocked into me. Let's just say that much. You can only mess yourself up too many times before you get common sense. That's my inscription. Greg, I can't wait to hear what everyone else has got to say about this one. V01UKZ, hashtag, F around and find. Alright, V01UKZ, this is KC2PTG. I was surprised when I first formulated this question how hard it was to answer. But you seem to say that experience can develop common sense. Let's see what Josh says. KJ5IRQ. Josh, what is common sense? This is KC2PTG. Over to you. We're going to leave him tentatively on my list. I'm here to help him back. So what we have on the list so far this morning is AA-4-HO and KC-2-PKG, KN-4-LDF. We had a couple of in and out. V-1-WIN, LA-5, VMA, and then tentatively KV-0-MA. So that's not the first big round of initial check-ins. I'm going to stop moving on and we'll take a few more check-ins here shortly. But let's get on to the main part of the net. So I am glad you all have made it to the cowabunga net today. It is my first Friday at net control and my fourth attempt total at net control. So if I make a mistake or two, I think it's to be expected. A man once said never apologize in advance and I've already done that. So we can see that that is over. So let's kick it off by asking the question of the day. I will start getting in the habit of posting these in advance like he does. I think that's fair. It gives everybody time. Well with that being said, the question of the day is what brings you to the cowabunga net? Let me hear why you've come to us this morning. Did you come daily? I'd like to know why. What brings you back all the time? Did you come weekly or monthly? Or if you don't love me at all? I'd also like to know why. Good or bad? We really don't care. We really like to know why. That's how we can kind of form the net and kind of make these nets more engaging for you, the participants. I'm not really doing the net control because it's fun for me, although it is. I do it for you guys and girls. I am generally interested in doing a lot of what y'all are doing and I would like to know as much about it so y'all really care. That being said, we will go ahead and move up to AA-4-H-O. We'll ask Juan one more time the question of the day. Juan, you come here every day and some days you have some battles and some days you don't. You have one of those perspectives that are quite different from most of the other people on the net, kind of like myself. So, with that being said, why don't you come to the net, buddy? What do you get out of it? What do you enjoy? What would you like to change? And that's all we're going to do for the first question. So with that, we're going to send it to Juan. AA-4-H-O, this is KJ Fab. IAP, the mic is yours. Again, Josh, good morning to you and everybody participating in the cowabunga net on the two truck van. I wanted to keep it short because I was on previously and I know I was cutting in and out. And I want to get back with you real quick, Josh, to find out if I'm in solid now because I switched over to the backup. I mentioned that I had a conversation this morning and I talked for a long time with Dan, the retired physician, that lives in Columbia now and we had a nice conversation and if you hadn't caught it, you had missed, I think, something real good. And we had it left open that anyone could have participated in. So how is this coming in now, Josh? My friend, you're covering the end almost crystal clear. No popping, no breaking. You're appropriately readable. Yeah, great. Now let me get on to the question. Thank you for that, Josh. I did say this a few times before about why I am here every morning. I do think that there's something special here going on and that's one big thing that brings me back here every day. You know, before I start listening, his head swells up and you can't get it out through the front door. That is actually a secondary thing. The primary reason actually, to put it simply, is that it just fell right in line with my schedule. And I get to, since I get up early in the morning, beyond here and the time that I have before my day starts really getting going, that time just goes by quick and I don't have to go looking for something to do. And the fact that this is a net that I feel is very worthwhile and special. There's a side effect besides. And this is something I've said before. Okay, Josh, that's the answer to your question this morning. I'm going to turn it back over to you, Ron. AA-4 or AA-2, you're referred. AA-4, AA-2, this is KJ-5. Hi, OQ. Well, that's good. Special net. I agree with you. This is a special net. I have been looking and listening to a few other ones. I was thinking part, I didn't think part of the outcome of that for a while. I started logging in and just saw something for a while before I could check in. And I agree so far, it is a wonderful kind of net. We're going to take the question and we're going to pose the same thing to Gray. And I am sure that Gray is going to have some very interesting answers on this question. Being in that controller for this net, he does have the flexibility to change things on his net. So I'm sure he has a different perspective, especially since that's lately. Actually since I've been on, which I guess is like before long enough, I've been on it the whole time, you know, about eight, nine months worth. His question is, is the question of the day always on the page? His segments are what I'm calling them, are always engaging. And he does some things on every of them that I've not heard of people doing, like interviewing people and things like that, which I found fascinating. So with that, Gray, we're going to pass it on to you. Tell us, you know, what brings you back to the Cabo net? Why do you like to host it since you are a net control host? And what made you decide to make your net the way that you made it? Your question is a little different because you are a next controller. And I'd just like to get that perspective from you. KJ5, I want you over to PCH. Located in Shelton, Washington. This is KJ5IRQ. This is KC2PKG. A little administrative at first. When George checked in, he said he was going to be in and out. So you don't have to, I don't think you have to keep calling him. The other thing is you got somehow, magically, you got Raynold from Tronheim, which we don't hear from him a lot. And it's always cool when he gets on. Talk about unique perspectives. It's an interesting guy. I come back every day and listen on Sundays. Because I really want to know why people think the way they think. It's an old story. But we, when we moved up here, it was very early in, well it was actually the beginning of the surprise Trump administration. And I was totally caught off guard. I never thought that guy would get a vote. I thought he was a joke. But he got voted in. And I suddenly realized that I don't know much about my own country and people in it. I know about the people in my circle, but I don't know about anybody else. So, now I live way, way, way north and east. And it's, let me drop it for a second. Okay, AC2, the AG return, hopefully briefly. And, I called it, when I first got here, it was Radio Deadland. I mean, I scanned every repeater. And there's at least 20 repeaters. And there's nobody talking on them at all. So that didn't really, that wasn't very exciting. And I couldn't find out what people were thinking that way. So I jumped back on Echo Link, which I used a lot in New Jersey. And somehow I stumbled across the Dew Drop Inn, which was there at that point in time. The net, Cow Bung Anet, was only an hour long. And it has lengthened throughout that time to now at least two and a half hours every day. It's my radio club. You guys are my club members, or the other club members. And even though I belong to two, they really never do anything. It's the activity and the traffic on this net that really sets it aside. It's a great thing. It is a great thing. And I'm constantly selling, saying, you know what, you need to hook up to a conference server. You got all these dead repeaters here that don't do anything at all. Put a conference server on there. So that there are people talking. There are people to interact with. I'm not a great salesman, I guess. Anyway, and okay, I'll drop it one more time. You shouldn't ask. All right. This time I am returning only briefly. This is KC2PKG. I started changing around my net because I wanted to do things that were different. I wanted to push the envelope. And I've got a bunch of different ideas. I usually try them out first, see how people react to them, get their honest opinion. And then I go back, I've got a pop quiz coming up Monday. That'll be the activity. But I think people like crosswords. Some people like 20 questions. The interview thing is great, but I've run out of people to interview. I had a whole bunch of people who said they're just too busy during the summer and it's too early in the morning for them. So I'm trying to figure out how to time shift it. So that we can keep doing that because I think people really enjoyed it. And I'm constantly looking for new ideas, new ways of doing things. So I challenge you, man. I am challenging you. Do something new. Surprise everybody. Anyway, back to you. KJ5IRQ, this is KC2PKG. KJ5IRQ, this is KJ5IRQ. And you can like me, I would say, especially in the quietness around local regions. We have a local coordinator on the left. Hello. I've never been on a radio, which has not been very loud. I've never been truly active, active. So I'm going to try to get you guys to come up here. I'm going to try to get you guys to come up here. I'm going to try to get you guys to come up here. I'm going to try to get you guys to come up here. I've never been truly active, active. Now there's a guy on there I get on on. He used to get on and talk to a lot. But he recently got his general license and got on the scene with my advantage and some other things that I'm not into. And at the moment, I don't get to talk to him as much. There's another little old man on there. He's a retired veterinarian. He's a really cool guy. But he also runs a ranch. We all don't understand ranches in Texas. Back in the 80s, we had a sort of land of the cow, 200 to 1,000 acres, making the land of hundreds and thousands of cows. I think he said he had around 150 acres, 100 acres, something like that. And it's similar to going to town. And he runs a town on the Pat. But he's a 70-something-year-old man, if I remember right. And he's out there working that ranch every day. So he just doesn't have time for him radio. He jumps on in the middle of the day when he is speaking one of his kids to run up or something like that. And then once in a while, hundreds of thousands of years, his wife has already been down. He takes a camera also. The other guy that was on our repeater, he died. So in the summer, there's no activity on the local DHS repeaters at all. There is something called the North Texas Central Connection. I believe that was in the NCTC.net. I believe it's a website. It's really cool. It's about 40-ish or so we've been as linked up all across Texas. Huge network. It's fairly active. The problem is that it's not going to interfere with people. I mean, they give you a hard time or hear your signals off. They give you a hard time about a lot of things. And then you're going to turn me off. So I don't get on there. It's really sad, too bad, because there's a lot of good people that I hear talking on there. And maybe I'll get back on it again one day. But I don't get to read as much. I stick with all story and echo and run out. That seems to be where I need to be. And so that's where I'm focusing my focus on. You and that stuff, it's really good. I'm going to take a real quick break. One hour over, Archie goes through an extended Friday. He is to firstly and slope. Entering a radio, I guess you can call it 3.0, and see who passes you the point on that. I mean, guys and girls, we have a dying hobby. It's up to us to keep it alive. If we don't change at the time, the radio's not going to occur, seeing more than what it is. And so that concerns me. I really enjoy it, like I was telling my wife yesterday, recording on your radio. It's the hobby that you can never even get bored in. If you're bored and you're also in a low-end, well, pick up an agent for it. Get you a general license and try that out. So yeah, I want to pressure her to hold some of this. I don't want it to be as big as that. I want it to be engaging. I want it to be something that everybody would like to be a part of. What's really good was people who want to purge the low-end radio. I'm trying to say that tactfully. Because I know there's a lot of people who want to keep things just the way it is, and that's pretty acceptable. I'm just not one of them. So with that, I'm going to send it to TK and 4LDF. Miss D, you're a little bit less new than I am. So I'm just interested to hear your take. Why don't you come to the car, what do you get out of it? Yeah, that. So the mic is yours. This is K and 4LDF. This is D. Josh, I'm going to tell you. When I first came into him, I had a serious thing called mic fight. Every time I picked up the receiver, I would go into a cold sweat. So I tried very hard, and because that was a problem for me, I got my license in 2018. I just stopped, just gave me a headache, I just got sick, pop up tasers, just talking out to people. And then I picked it up again, and my area is really silent where I'm at. There is nothing. So I decided to go into Echo Link. When I first tried Echo Link, it wouldn't work for me. I couldn't get it for about two or three weeks, and they wouldn't have started working for me until I figured it out. I was able to go into different rooms and nets. I downloaded a couple of schedules, and I started seeing interesting things. Let me reset, one moment. So then when I came into Do Drop In, I downloaded a schedule, and I really like learning from different places. I like to absorb, I like to learn things. I have an open mind. At least I believe I have an open mind. And I like different places' opinions, like Canada and England and different places, because that lets you understand where other people think about our country, our USA country. So by learning while other people think about you, and within ourselves. Within ourselves and this country is another thing. And I like the controversy, but what I do like about this specific here in Do Drop In is, it is still respectful if you have a controversial conversation here. You don't have derogatory expressions in here, which I appreciate, because if you come to that bullying and derogatory name calling and stuff like that, out probably would just not come anymore. That would not be my thing. But so far you guys have kept it respectful and common courtesy, which is very good. I appreciate that. So for me it's very critical for people to have respect, for me to stay in that particular room. And learning about other countries and where we stand today, different people's opinions really does matter. Because if you have an open mind you can learn something out of another person's opinion. And you can keep on the manure just by learning by other people's experiences too, I think. Well, I'm Miss Kay and for LBS, this is Dee. Back to Josh."},{"callsign_confidence":0.94,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-08-08T06:31:06+00:00","id":15185,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":15184,"text":" Well, good morning again, KN6UYZ. I forgot if there was a question I was supposed to answer. Is there a question? Nope. I figured I'd do this off. You can let me know if you like it or not. We'll have an opening round. No question or anything. Good morning. Check them in. Give me a check and say what you want to say. They don't have the topic or the question of the day. Maybe a follow-up or one I came here to. But then, I figured the last round or two, I have found that this network's best when net operators step out of the equation a little bit. Some of the best discussions I have experienced on here haven't necessarily started with the net operator. It is what somebody else talks about. And so, in that ideology, I'm hoping that's what happens with the final couple of rounds every Friday morning with me. That somebody brings up something that's of interest to them and then brings up interest to everybody else and I can kind of sit back on easy street. You know what I mean? With that, I'm going to send it back to you, John. K-5 IRQ. All right. Well, thank you for the clarification. You know, it's the same old same old with me. I've been dealing with some medical things and family and who knows what. But everything is going well, so I don't really have too much more to do than that at the moment. So I'll let somebody else do the talking. Thanks so much for having me. I do appreciate it. K-6 U-I-Z. Back to net. K-6 U-I-Z. K-5 IRQ. John, we appreciate you, buddy. We got at least one more round. The 73 round's coming up, so don't go anywhere. And that's going to be the bottom of the list with V-O-1 U-K-Z. So we're going to let him have his turn at the mic and then we'll call for the final round of check-ins. So if you're on the net, if you're listening and you want to join, get ready because after Darryl, it's going to be your opportunity to join the Cal-Burger net. And just for people who need to know this, and I try to say it three or four times every time I do this, it is Friday, August 8, 2025. And it is 8-25 almost, Texas time. I like to do that in case somebody gets like me wrapped up in the net and forgets what time it is or what's going on. So with that, let's send it over to Darryl, V-O-1 U-K-Z. From high up on the rock, this is KJ5 IRQ. So, I mean, if we're gonna have change, let's be in control of that change. It's kind of the way I'm looking at it. So, that'll be an interesting thing. I'm gonna piece everything together. Resumes and demos. Believe it or not, there are demos in my world. I, you know, they wanna know what you can do with the software. Fortunately for them, I have lots of demos with and without NetSuite Assistant. Because we really did something scratch when with NetSuite and filtered the radius for all purposes, all within the last four years. So, that'll be an interesting thing. Oh, I'm going for a study, please. That's just on my mind today. I am going inside and setting my regular daytime job now. KJ Fab, ILQ, will see you tomorrow morning at 6.30 Texas time, here on the panel among the net. So release. KJ5, IRQ, this is KJ2, PKG. And of course, that was one of the predictions for climate change as it moved forward. A large swath of the country. It was gonna be almost impossible to have people working outside in the middle of the day. They would work in the early morning. They would have to take a long break in the middle of the day and then start again at four o'clock when things cooled off. When we think about how many people, I'm looking at two guys weeding my yard out in the sun right now. And it's not a bad day here, it's 74. But I wonder how long. How long will they be able to do that? Bill, finish us up here. N9, OFU, this is KJ2, PKG. Final thoughts, Bill. Over to you."}]}
