Would that be the one at 316 West Holly Street in Bellingham? According to Google, it says hip cozy bistro offering area source breakfast served all day and lunch in rusty cool digs. You worked at that place? What were you doing up in Bellingham? When was that? Anyway. So, busy day for me. I'm not muffled today because I'm at my home QTH here with my Icom mobile radio and the Icom boost net microphone with a fuzzy on it so that I don't make any breath-pumping noises. And I wanted to mention that it's kind of a follow-up on my car. I mentioned a couple of times that the rebate is supposed to have a $4,000 rebate for used EV and the dealership had called me and said, hey, you know, we need your Social Security card. And I go, Social Security card? No one's ever asked for that in my life and I'd have to get my mother and father's birth certificate to get a replacement card. Oh my gosh. So I went in there the other day and talked to the sales guy who had been calling me. I wasn't there, but I talked to the manager and I said, hey, you know, what's with this thing needing my Social Security number? And he goes, let me check on the IRS thing here. So he checks on the IRS webpage and he says, yeah, the problem is Social Security number. We need to have your Social Security number. And I said, you could have asked that on the phone. I would have given it, you know, Social Security number. So I read out my number and apparently someone on their end, the dealership's end, had typed in one number wrong and of course it was not going through. So he corrected the number and he says, okay, it's good. Yep, all done. $4,000 rebate, which isn't for me. It's for the dealership. So I don't know why they didn't pursue this a little more. Anyway, that's taken care of. And the other thing I wanted to mention is, oh, it's a cooler day today. Yes, I like that. I've been putting off doing serious house cleaning in my work because on the hot days it just gets too hot here when it's like 75, I'm sorry, 78, 80 degrees in my apartment. It's not much fun. I'm too lazy to turn on the air conditioner, I guess. But today it's nice and cool. I can't avoid it. I've been vacuuming with my replacement Eureka Mighty Mite vacuum. Yes, I misplaced my vacuum cleaner. I don't know where. And I got the new one, a replacement in the other day, exact duplicate. And it's working great. It's second grade. And we're all having a great day here on a Friday. Enjoy. KI7, CEI. The sun is out and I've got big plans for the day, very, very busy. I will say you probably know, maybe people know that there's this really good dead spot in reception from this repeater when you're driving between the Emerald Queen Casino and if you're going north up to where that rest stop is, there's about a five mile dead spot where it is almost impossible to receive the repeater, at least with my rig, rigs that I've had. I meant to get a little earlier start but I had to get a fresh gallon of paint and that took a while and all that. So I'm a little bit behind, I was trying to get this first coat on before the sun came around and I'm kind of losing out on that because I decided to get in a shady spot on a hill and check in. Anyway, yesterday my little plumbing thing, well it ended up being successful if you will recall. In the last episode I had water dripping through the pipe that I was trying to solder, some copper pipes. And well, the truth is that with the water dripping through the pipe that it was too cool to solder because it was just like cooling it off and so I went. So I had to come up with a solution and the solution was I could put some kind of suction down the pipe to suck the water before it got up into the area where I was working. And I thought, well let's see, I can't use a straw, like a plastic straw, it's not long enough and besides it would melt. I can't use any kind of plastic tubing because that will melt when I'm soldering. So I went to the hardware store and got a few feet of, I think it was like eighth inch copper tubing and I straightened it out and then I put a little bend in the end just enough where it would be able to dip down into the pipe that was coming up where the water was coming from and I'd be able to suction that out. So that looked like it might work. I hooked it up to a wet and dry vacuum cleaner, put the whole thing together ready to solder, turned on the vacuum cleaner, got all the water out, heated up with a torch to evaporate the water that was in the pipe and then soldered it successfully. So it took me about 20 minutes to go through that whole rigmarole, but it worked out excellent. Bread or anything else I could have stuffed into the pipe just would not have worked. It would have, in that 20 minutes there was about a quart of water that came out into the wet dry vac. So it was pretty much a continuous stream. Anyway, that's it for me. Now I'll get on to my painting job, enjoy the weather, and hopefully have good weather for a couple more days because then I can put on a second coat tomorrow. KI-7-CEI. This is repeater station KI-7-CEI. Alright, success for Tim for the win. That's fantastic. Well, yeah, and I liked Sris' idea yesterday, KK7-HCD, saying use some white bread, put that in there. But man, with a quart coming through there, I would just push that out no problem. Oh boy. Anyway, well you made it all work and it sounds like you have a no-drip situation. That's excellent. Alright, Tim, well good luck with painting. Yeah, I've got some painting to do too. I was doing some sanding the other day in preparation for that and moving on to the next phase a little bit later today or tomorrow while we've got this nice weather. I'm in a southeast over here near Silver Lake. The reception is terrible, hopefully my signal is getting out. I know it's very position dependent on the transmission. Anyway, on day two on this painting the steps stuff, it's going very well. The weather is cooperating. I'm also prepping the railing and so forth for painting which I'll be doing tomorrow. This paint that I'm using on the deck, I decided to get the paints that I've used before. I've painted these stairs four or five times and each time it only seems to last one or two years. I don't know why I came to find some paint that lasts longer. This time I got some paint specifically for decks and it's supposed to be anti-slip. It's got basically the granularity of sand in it. When I went to put it on with a roller, the way they recommended it was just doing clumps. So I ended up thinning it quite a bit and applying it by brush which has worked out really well. So anyway, this is progressing for today and about another hour. The weather is great as I say. I hope everyone is having a great day and I'll give it back. Yeah I know it was well stirred up but I just purchased it at the hardware store and you know they shake the bejesus out of the stuff before they give it to you. So that was all okay. The painting project that I was doing for Friends House up in South Everett is mostly done, I was going to put another coat on the railing and so forth, but I've got other stuff planned for today so I probably won't do it. Besides, I'd like a little more sunshine. I've been getting a late start because of course I've got to wait for the dew to dry each morning. It's on the west side of the house, so it takes quite a while. Anyway, that project is almost done. I've got about four HTs, different brands and models here in my hand. Well, only one or two at a time, but they're all different. It's so difficult to figure out how to do any field programming on these things because everything is so different from one radio to the next. Even the bow fangs, I've got a UV82 and that's different than all the other bow fangs. They're all a little different. It can be frustrating. Anyway, that's what I'm working through this morning. I've got a friend that's going to be out in the field doing some, I guess, working with some state forestry group and wants to know if I can get any of my radios to get on these frequencies. These frequencies are not in the hand band. I know the bow fangs and these other Chinese ones can do that, but field programming radios can be a pain. When you're dealing with four different radios that are all different, it's quadruple pain. Anyway, just trying to work on that to see what radios will work on the necessary frequencies like 164 MHz and all that kind of good stuff, which is definitely out of the hand bands with permission, of course. So I'm actually going to bring that with me for a show and tell. But they didn't get HTs on there for like $15. And I don't know, stuff is still available and they're not adding any extra charge yet. Whatever price you see there on Cheemoo is the price you will pay. So I don't know why. Oh, and they've still got 100 amp hour lithium phosphate batteries for $100 and less.
