It's partly cloudy, it's dark because the local time is 9 minutes to 11 o'clock in the evening of course. So yep, we got a nice temperature for us over here. And also your new lady's cooking some Chinese food. Well, put it this way, I always think that if somebody else cooks food for you, it always tastes better than having to cook it yourself. I don't know why, but if I cook something, I'll try and cook something, you know, if somebody else did the same, same ingredients, same recipe, it always seems to taste nicer. Always love to hear about what you're doing there. Always put me to shame. We haven't done so much recently. In fact, we've told him recently for a long time. But you know what? I'm going to get the acoustic guitar out quite soon, just to see how our new puppy reacts to it. We'll just have to wait and see. Anyway, Dale, thank you. Thank you so much. And Dave, if you're listening, make sure you have Dale on your first round of check-ins for Part 2 of the net. With that, I'm going to go and speak to KC9LRB. And Mike, actually, you can also be on the list for Part 2 of the net, because I'm going to just give you one round, and Dave will come back to you. So, Mike, it's good to have you on board. It really is. And I think the last time they might be spoke, I think you were saying you were heading off to Greece for two weeks with the family. And I took him out, so he got the basic gear changes up and down the box, braking, coming to a stop safely, a little bit of reversing, one very, very quiet T-junction, just to get him, just get the basics familiar for him and the confidence of being able to stop it when he needs to, and that kind of stuff. So he's had now, well, he's had three lessons with a professional driving instructor and he's doing really, really well. So he's got his fourth one now because he's back in school, the driving instructor is quite happy to actually do the lessons around his school timetable because now he's in year 13 over here. He got a staggered timetable, it's not the set time from start, let's say 9 a.m. and finish at 3 p.m. He got to go in further at the start of the day, but after his last lesson, he can come home and just got to sign himself out. So he's out of statutory education, the statutory education, he got to be there for the fixed period of time each day. So he's working with his driving instructor to get along around his school timetable, which is absolutely fantastic. And on his second lesson, he took his driving instructor because he was changing gear and without being asked to do so, he was going to change gear as a speed increase of the vehicle. And so the driving instructor, he decided to take him down a road, which is a road that students don't normally get to go down to and go further along, you know, with a lot more lessons. And it's rather bendy, it gets narrow, some of the bends are greater than 90 degrees, you come back on yourself. And Sue, my XYL, MW7-SDI, had never been that far down that particular road. So when we went out for a meal, we were just not far from there, so we went down that road just to show her exactly what Declan achieved, which is absolutely fantastic. He's doing really, really well. And thanks for asking there, Mike. And I'm waffling on. I'll put it back to you. But in answer to your question, yes, that was three months ago. I returned back to the United States on June the 12th. I have spoken to you numerous times I think since then. But that's okay. It was really a wonderful trip and certainly the highlight of my summer. I just love Greece. That was my second trip there and I plan to go back although part of me wants to get my country count up. I can't remember what it's up to now. I think I've been to at least 20 countries. So we'll see what next year has in store. I don't know. Maybe I'll have to come to Scotland if I can find a time there that it's not raining. And you know, these days it's almost like, boy, I kind of want a self-driving car so I can enjoy my commute every day. But probably soon. But I wish they took driving as seriously in the United States as they do over in the UK, because it doesn't take much to get a driver's license here. You've got 50 multiple choice questions all about safety, road signs and all the rest of it and you've got to get 43 right out of there as a pass mark on the hazard perception. They're 10 second videos and you've got to click the mouse button when you see a potential hazard in front of you. You know what I mean and you just failed that one but a few days we rebooked it as soon as we could. We couldn't book it the following day but we rebooked it as soon as we could and he passed it with flying colors, the hazard perception and the multiple choice questions within three days of, maybe four days, something along like that of actually failing the original. And now, he's done his theory test is behind him. He's got two years now to actually pass his practical driving test. And what are you up to, I wonder?"},{"callsign_confidence":1.0,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-12-21T12:37:34+00:00","id":80783,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":80782,"text":" Well, good evening to everyone on the net from Indianapolis, KC9LRB here. It's good to be back with you. And yes, Thanksgiving in Indianapolis was cold and we had decided to go out for Thanksgiving lunch. This year we are a family who usually eats Thanksgiving dinner in the evening time when dinner is supposed to be eaten. I've never understood eating Thanksgiving dinner in the middle of the day. But we decided to do that this year and then half the family got sick. So it wound up being my father and my sister-in-law and her mother who was visiting from Brazil, the country. And we also have a Brazil, Indiana so you have to differentiate when you're here. And some family friends and we ate our fill. It was absolutely delicious. But I had the rest of the day where I didn't know exactly what to do. I didn't have any more meals but ended up going to my social club at night. They opened up and watched some football and overall it was a good day. But I'll throw it back to you. Back to Nat."},{"callsign_confidence":1.0,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-12-22T17:42:18+00:00","id":86366,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":86365,"text":"Kilo, Charlie 9, Lima, Romeo, Bravo, KC9, LRB, Mike in Indianapolis."},{"callsign_confidence":1.0,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-12-23T21:43:25+00:00","id":92025,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":92024,"text":"Yeah, KC9LRB from, uh, 2W8SL, okay there, my great, you had, uh, you had a good, uh, Thanksgiving, eh, there? And we don't have, uh, Thanksgiving over in the UK, we gotta wait till Christmas! Hahaha! So, uh, but that's, uh, that's not wrong, that was a bad lesson. Yeah, of course, it's the 28th of November here now, so, it's only a couple of weeks till Christmas! And, uh, doesn't time, uh, fly when you're having fun? What is your time goes quicker when you're getting older? I don't know there Mike, but yeah We could do with a few new new holidays over here in the UK along the lines of Thanksgiving and that and stuff like that so that we Didn't have a good excuse to eat too much and fall asleep there afterwards I found I do that a lot more now when When I eat a lot and didn't do it when I was younger though But I think it's getting now. Just put it down to getting older KC9MRB, GW8S-0"},{"callsign_confidence":1.0,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-12-23T22:51:18+00:00","id":92245,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":92244,"text":"Okay, C9LRB from TW8S said a well-belated happy birthday for for last Monday there Mike and Yeah, I'm I'm 63 now. So 63 63 on yeah, 63 out of thing then And I'll be 64 and the the end of January So, you know as I say the years are just flying by but as I said said it's probably just getting older an older thing and even Declan when he said he's been you know he got first line since when he just turned nine years old and he's now we're 70 and he said that that time has flown quickly as well so I don't know he'll be 18 on the 1st of May there Mike so it's for me it's that you know it's flown as well from the age of nine and he's got a lot taller yeah I think he's gonna be taller than me one day but I put a put a few bricks on top of his head to try and spread this growth I don't know if that's gonna work though but if we could try I suppose KC9LRB, QW8SL. This is repeater station QW8SL, KC9LRB returning. Well you're giving me hope there because if I my math is terrible but if you're about 20 years older than I am and have a 17 year old meaning you were older than I was when he was born and I do not have children yet and I thought that was going to be a thing but you know relationships sometimes just don't work out and I I still am holding out hope so you're giving me hope I do need to find a woman who's got some tall genes in her family I got to 5 foot 8 inches which I think I'm 173 centimeters. We don't really use that here of course in the United States and that's pretty tall for my family. I think my father is five foot five and my mom is five foot two and that was their final height. They're a little shorter than that now but you know I I would I think that I would take any kid that God granted me and be very happy with it and it sounds to me like you have a lot to be proud of with Declan I'm certainly glad to see him on the net each week and telling us allowing us to live vicariously through him and all his teenage adventures there in the UK so well Dave hey I know there's a lot of people probably waiting and wanting to check in and I'm tired of hearing me rambling on about life. So I will say 73 always a pleasure and I will turn it back to neck control. This is KC9LRB always a pleasure."}]}
