Like tonight, 8pm in the Seattle area is the SimplexNet, and the frequency for the SimplexNet is 146.56. It's a great way to keep in practice using your radio and using Simplex. But anyway, that's about it for announcements. And remember, August 10th, the next Rain or Shine, it's a Sunday. Sunday, August 10th. Let's carry on with this new net. My name is Rebecca, 27IJZ, and this is a social net held on the PSRG repeater. So let's start a new list. I'll sign the name RF and internet. Grossy, W7, DNG, recheck. Hey Grossy, I got your recheck. Why don't you come ahead with your recheck? It's not what it is in regard as the gentleman that does the sandblasting stuff. I'm into that also. I just had a story. I've got a neighbor down the street that's into radios and stuff and likes his numbers on the back of his window of his truck. Well, he says, do you have anything that's more permanent that's besides being vinyl and stuff like that? And I says, well, I can sandblast it more. He says, really? He says, yeah, I like that. So I went and sandblasted for him. And he says, oh man, that is cool. He says, can you do any other things for me with some sandblasting? He had an emblem that he wanted on the back window also. So I did that for him. Turned out really cool. One of these days I'll get a picture of it and put it on PSRG page to show you what it looks like. But that's my story and I'm sticking to that part of it. I enjoy doing sandblasting too. I do a little bit of everything. And it's a technique. You know, a lot of them use chemicals and stuff, but I don't like putting chemicals on anything. Sandblasting is easy. I just use a good old plenty of sand like you got for the kids and stuff. I just filter it out and it works quite well. I got a cage to put everything in and I can do up to about a two by two foot size piece of glass or meter or whatever. Anyhow, everybody have a good day, better tomorrow. Grocery's just bringing that back up. I do that too. W7, DNG. Well that's cool, Grocery. That's right. You are a man of many, many talents. Many, many skills. And I didn't even realize that you could do that to a car's windows. I don't know why I didn't even think about that, but that's so cool. Thanks for coming back with that. Yeah, that's Paul in Maine. KC1DQS. But thank you, Grocery73. And come back and re-check if you want. All right, let's go ahead and start a new check-in. Paul signing name, RF and internet."},{"callsign_confidence":1.0,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-08-07T12:56:50+00:00","id":15037,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":15036,"text":" Let's go to the East Coast first with Paul, KC1VQS. Hey, Paul. Yeah, good afternoon, Jack and everyone on the net. We've had a beautiful day here in Maine. It's 80 degrees. Yeah, it's 80. The sunny and calm wind and low humidity can't beat that. Yeah. And we haven't had any more Canadian smoke since the weekend. So that's a good thing. Monday, it was pretty bad. And I've kind of been off the radio more this past week because my wife took a spill. And she fractured three vertebrae and a rib. So she was home for a bit. So I was helping her. And she's able to go back to work in the last couple of days. So she's doing better. Still sore. The doctor said it's just rest. Take it easy. Don't list anything. Just favor it as much as you can. And she has a desk job. So she's patting her chair and stuff. So she's doing OK. Not perfect, but OK. Better than she was. So yeah, that was an unfortunate thing. But yeah, we're celebrating her birthday this weekend. So that'll cheer her up with a lobster dinner. That's what we're going to do. Anyway, we're going to enjoy the rest of the afternoon. Hope you do too, Jack. Have a great day. And we'll talk again soon. This is KC1DQS. All right, yeah, I think, no, I'm not sure you mentioned that your wife had the spill there. Oh, that's a bummer. Oh, boy. All right, so she's got the desk job. She's getting back to work. Or she had a limited schedule. Does she have the ability to take some personal time off if she needs? Yeah, she does have sick leave. And she did take some of that. She actually fell off our dock and landed on rocks. And that's what did the injury. And it was a wound shear. She put a little too much weight on it. And the chair gave way. And both of them ended up off the dock. So that was not fun. And she did take some time. But she's trying to save as much as she can. Because the end of the 23rd, she goes on vacation for two weeks. And she's trying not to cut into that time. Because she's not ever had two weeks in a row before. And she's really looking forward to this. So she says if she can grin and bear it, she's going to try to see it through. And the doctor said there's no limitations as long as you. Lifting is a bad thing. And not a lot of walking. That kind of bothers her. But sitting doesn't so much. And as long as she can tolerate that, the doctor said she's fine. So there's nothing that's going to come out of place. It's all just mostly cracks or fractures. And nothing is just lodged or anything. So anyway, hopefully that will help. And the only painkiller she's on is Tylenol. And she takes that regularly. And that does help. So yeah, it was one of those freak things that happened. And you never know. So back to you, Jack. KC1-VQS. Hey, I7RMU with the new net here on the PSR. Do you hear Peter in Seattle, Washington? Well, Paulie, you did mention that. Yes, indeed. Yeah, yeah. As soon as you mentioned the dock and the rocks, oh boy. It all came flooding back. Well, you take care of her. And boy, that's really something. She's really lucky that it's not worse. That's for sure. And she's still able to get out on her vacation. Just take it easy. Well, I guess take some books. Take your Kindle. Have your phone nearby. And maybe you can rent a pedal, one of those petticaps. That would be kind of fun. Or something similar to that. And you'd be able to take a run on that somehow. I don't know. Well, anyway, you'll let us know. And that's really great. I'm glad that she's able to still build. All right. Well, Paulie, you have a great afternoon. Thank you for coming by. And all the best to you and your wife, of course. K6PKL. Hey, Bill. What's happening with you? Oh, I'm just sitting here lounging right now. Bubba, I need to get up. I want to mention to you about, or you said 3 million internationally, about having a ham license. And you know, when I listened into the WorldNet on TalkGroup 91 on Saturday, we have Check-In now, which is up over 500. OK, so. And that's from all over the world. And what my register in my AnyTone now has about 220,000 users in there. And that means whenever they transmit, well, it comes up and it gives me information about their location, their name and all that stuff on the screen on the AnyTone. And that will hold 500,000. So I can see that we're seeing this. And as fast as I load in the new database in there, which takes probably about 5, 10 minutes. But anyway, generally, I come on there and within a few days, I see new Check-Ins because it will just show there are no call. You have to register a number. You probably know that in DMR to be able to even access the repeater. It won't even recognize you unless you have an ID number. So anyway, I thought I'd mention that. Yeah, our hobby continues to say really vibrant K6P Hill. Well, it truly is the hobby of the thousand, the hobbies as K7DRQ famously said. That's Quentin, of course. So yeah, it's really just amazing hobby. And it's a great service as well. So many different aspects. And we like them all, even though we haven't tried them. And sometimes we haven't even heard of them. But when we hear something new, you go, wait, what's that? I got to look that up. OK. Anyway, all right, Bill. You have a great afternoon. Thanks for checking in today. Let's see what else is out there. Let's do, let's see what time is it? 1252. I think I'll do last call then for the new net. I'm Jack KI7RM. I have a secret project. I'm working on a Christmas present. That's gonna take some time to assemble Entirely it has the one LED light and that's the only electronics in the whole thing But it's kind of cute and it takes a lot of patience And that's what I've been working on today in my air-conditioned office, it's far too hot so I'm out to Return on Amazon package and get some lunch beyond that not much else going on get you some of the BIS back in it Oh And unfortunately Completed And so we're all trying to stay cool it's all good though, I don't I don't mind it at all, but I know other folks do But this is like a three day in a row thing and then Thursday. We're going to drop back into the mid 80s, so That will up Things a lot of folks will be a little happy with that We celebrated my wife's birthday yesterday with a lobster dinner, that's her thing and My too, but it's not as easy to get in December when it's my birthday, so we enjoy it We do that every year and We just enjoy and that was yesterday so unfortunately she had to work, but anyway she got home fairly early Yeah A day I've done some odds and ends Trying to Catch up on some Craft there stuff. I have the craft there over the weekend on Saturday that went well And we got to have dinner with my daughter. That was fun, so That's what's going on here Jack. I turn it back to you. This is KC1 DQS Well I gotta ask you a question about that fantastic birthday dinner for your wife with a lobster head and all that So was there a doggy bag to go or there any leftovers from the lobsters or lobster? Oh yeah, there was leftovers, but we did it at home Lobsters kind of messy so we don't go in a restaurant, and we cooked it on the side burner of our grill and It outdoors it we went to a fish market to get them and we get pretty large ones they're about a little over two pounds a piece and So we the claws and the body are one meal of the tail of another so we actually have that tonight's in a row and The texture and the flavor of the bigger ones are different we like the better if you go to a restaurant you get like a pound a pound a quarter and They're really quite small I can finish that whole thing off and then some but the two pounders are very filling and We don't really need anything else that sisters is the way it is We just enjoy that and it's become an annual tradition back to you Jack KC1 DQS Well and you're probably Very likely I bet you might be home try to stay cool. Okay, I'm 70 J. M. What's happening? Okay, I'm seven a jam skipper here. Yeah, I'm only Granite Falls Trying to stay out of the heat But I got the a two nine nine one going and as it turns out when they I updated the RT system software Something that changed when I download everything from repeater book, which I always have It started turning off the tone DCS thing for all the repeaters so I have to go back it for everyone and make sure it says ENC which is encoder I think and then I have to make sure the repeater setting is right whether it's plus or minus or whatever And now it works fine, so I'll call RT systems and See what changed But I've got an alarm technician here replacing my main display. So I'm gonna have to Go back downstairs Km7 a jam back to you Jack All right 991 and get that out the door pay that mine etc. Etc. And I've been doing this for about 10 years, trying to build it as a little side business for my retirement and my retirement's finally here so now I'm cranking this up a little bit. But I can bring a lot of that work outside, which is really good. So I've been doing, it's not really outside work, but it's work I'm bringing outside. And I'm puttering away at that and getting ready. So it's just kind of fun and it's just something I like doing. And so that's my projects for the weekend and this coming week as I get ready to make that drive to the main coast to do the fair. So anyway, back to you Rebecca. This is KC1DQS. Well that's great, Pearl. That's awesome. I love that. And I mean, that's perfect in retirement. It gives you the opportunity to keep on doing something and you're doing something creative and you're still getting out and about, and socializing and along with all the radio stuff. But that's great. I love that glass etching. Well thank you so much for coming back with that and letting us know about your glass etching and what beautiful weather to be outside. We've done some in other languages, like we've sung in Latin, which is really hard. Yeah, it's a variety of different things. And it's a little more formal in the fall than it is the spring. It's a little more casual in the spring. We also sing the national anthem at a couple of the hockey games throughout the year. She's a golden retriever and we went and picked her up and we're having the best time with her. Well, last week was also the first week of school and even though I'm supposed to be retired, the other social studies teacher that worked with me very closely decided to retire three days before school started and they had no one to cover those classes so they called me and I couldn't leave them out. I did only work three days. We had teacher days Monday and Tuesday that I did not have to go to but I was in the classroom Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of last week which was totally unexpected but there you are and so we spent the weekend with the puppy and today is my first day free of school. So we're just having a great time with this dog and training and the potty training is coming along pretty good and she's getting along really well with our cat which is a good thing which really helps. We need rain though, but none in sight, unfortunately. But we could use a good soaking rain. The critters are doing great. The puppy training is continuing. It's not perfect, but we're persistent with it. We had a pretty good day today. And I was able to read the signals and force the issue to get her out before we had any trouble inside. And I've tried to spend a lot of time outside today because it's really nice here. She'll be 12 weeks old tomorrow. I can't believe that. We've had her four weeks already. It doesn't seem like it's been that long. Seems like it was just a couple of days ago. Time goes really, really fast. But she's really delightful to have. She has really opened up and is doing well with the cat. Cairo even goes and searches for the dog. And Riga does the other way around too. I'm glad they get along. And Riga is now just a tiny bit bigger than Cairo. And that wasn't the case when we first brought her home four weeks ago. Cairo was bigger. And now there's a noticeable difference the other way. I think he wanted to be around more outdoors and that kind of thing rather than you know inside of a building inside the Public Works building. She's about two hours away and they kind of are about two hours of both of them two hours away, but in sort of different directions. She's more south of us, and he's more west of us so in our southwest of us so but we're going to go see her and she's getting married in February and so she and my wife want to talk over some more wedding plans. So we'll go down and have lunch with them and and have a short I have an afternoon visit with them and it will be a good chance for Riga to meet their dog Raphael. So hopefully that will go well. Anyway back to you Graham. So it was at least that long ago and my father-in-law just turned 96 in August and is still doing fine so is in his house, still drives, you know, he's doing great for 96. So I would say it had to have been 70 years ago because he got married when he was in his early 20s right out of the Korean War and I don't believe they lived anywhere else too long before they built this house. So I'd have to ask my wife for sure but that's my guess. Back to you Jack, KC1DQS. Oh that is so cool. That is, what a cool story, that is nice. Alright well that will be interesting to hear some stories from the wedding, how you did, what kind of a ceremony you did and all that. So yeah, definitely get back to us next week. Well good luck with that and happy life ahead for the new couple. Alright we had John in there. Thank you John, appreciate that from Sacramento Island. Let's go back to Michael. Oh by the way Paul, KC1DQS, you mentioned first rain in a while there and KA6REX Peter from Santa Cruz mentioned the other day that they finally got that rain he was hoping for so finally a little bit where it's needed. Alright but more to come on that of course. WA6AVC Rockaway Beach on the East Coast, not the West Coast Rockaway Beach. I hope you're having a great day and happy birthday to the others that share your day with you. And it's just great to have a birthday. I like birthdays. Yeah, we've had a, I think we're having 83 degrees here today. I think this is our last 80 degree day for the season by the looks of it. It's very clear and sunny and windy though, but 82 degrees. So tomorrow we're going to be getting some much needed rain, our first rain in a long time. Yeah, it's probably been a couple of months. So this is a good thing. It'll be chilly, but we do need the rain really badly. So yeah, we'll put up with it. But the recovery is going to only be in the 50s to low 60s. So I think that the summer weather is pretty much over. So I'm enjoying the outdoors today. I'm walking the pup just to get a couple of errands in town and just kind of enjoying the weather here one last warm day. So anyway, I'll turn it back to you. I hope you've had a great day. 7-3 to everybody. We'll talk again soon. It's a chilly day definitely fall kind of overcast with some breaks in the clouds and 51 degrees Yeah, that's a big cooldown from the weekend When we were in the mid to upper 60s Yeah, I think fall is Definitely eroding away at that warmer weather for sure We had a pretty good weekend. We did an ATV ride with the cops 58 miles. She did awesome sat in the seat between my wife and I and just Was very calm and I was very surprised for a puppy that that happened that way and so yesterday we laid low and watched football and just hung out with a fire in the fireplace and Just kind of chilled so my wife did not have today off unfortunately She doesn't get this holiday off. It's Her next one will be Thanksgiving so with that I'm going to turn it back to you Jack and hope you have a good rest of the day. When we snowmobile, and I don't have a snowmobile, but not anymore. They were old and just aren't operational anymore. But I have a very good friend that has two fairly new ones and no one to go with. So he is uncomfortable traveling alone and so with me retired now, he's looking forward to the winter when I can go with him during the week. But when we do go, we travel anywhere between 100 and 120 miles in a day. And just through the main woods and mountains, we've covered some territory there for sure. And you can travel farther on a snowmobile than you can on ATV because you can go faster. They maintain the trails and they're smoother. You can travel faster to make better times. So we have that season coming up to look forward to too. And then Southern Maine in the southern part of the state where my son lives they, and my daughter actually lives on the coast too. They're getting not as much color as we have obviously because they're a little bit farther south, but it's getting pretty here. And then last week I didn't make it because I officiated a wedding and that went really well. We had the rehearsal on Friday, just about the same time this net started, and that went a little over an hour. And then the wedding Saturday afternoon, and it was a beautiful day. It was an outdoor wedding. It was in a back field of this couple's home, and the foliage all around it kind of just was the backdrop of the whole thing. And it was really nice. And then they had a big party tent they rented that came with tables and chairs, and so that's what they had set up for that. So it really was nice. A little windy, but not too bad. It was nice and warm though. So I think I'm going to turn it back to you, Graham. I think that's all I've got to report for this week. This is KC1DQS."},{"callsign_confidence":1.0,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-10-17T13:29:52+00:00","id":62619,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":62618,"text":" Yeah, Graham, KC1DQS. We hope to get it back this next week, so we maybe get a ride in next weekend. Most of the trails close November 1st, so we're really getting to the end of the season here. And most people winterize theirs and put them up for the winter, but we don't. We plow with it. We have a plow that we put on it, and we have a fairly long driveway that reaches the major road that comes down in. So it's a little too long for a snowblower, so we actually plow with it. So yeah, we're hoping it will get fixed and not be anything too, too serious because we do rely on it for that for sure. And Riga will have her final vet visit on Thursday this week for the last round of vaccinations, and she will be fully vaccinated at that point. And I think they're going to do the microchip at that point too, but that will be the rabies and everything. She should be set to go at that point, so that will be a good thing. And she's growing tall. Oh my goodness. I can't believe how tall she's getting. And it's really noticeable because when you put her beside a chyro, there's a noticeable difference now in the sizes between them. But they still get along really well, which we're really thankful for. So Graham, you have a good week. I'll try to report back on updating everything next week and 7-3 to everybody. Have a great weekend, and we'll talk again soon. This is KC1DQS. Back to you, Graham."},{"callsign_confidence":1.0,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-10-09T13:08:43+00:00","id":56596,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":56595,"text":" Good afternoon, Jack. I just got in from walking the dog and caught the tail into the net, so I wanted to jump in and say hi. We've had a really cool day here, only up to 55 degrees. Very windy, sunny though, and we had rain yesterday which we really needed. A little bit of a whomp into the mid to upper 60s on the weekend, but definitely the fall weather is setting in for sure. Anyway, I'm going to say 73. We'll try to catch you down the log soon. And I hope you have a great weekend if I don't catch you tomorrow. We'll say 73. KC1DQS, back to you, good tag."},{"callsign_confidence":1.0,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-10-31T13:19:01+00:00","id":73155,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":73154,"text":" Yes, Graham. Well, I'll remove a little competition then. So he might, well, he'll have the moment to be with me anyway. So hi, hi, that's funny. So yeah, you can go, I don't have a website yet. My future son-in-law is in the process of trying to make me one. But it's a slow process because he's trying to do it at work. He's into computer science and that's what his job is. And so he's pretty busy. So he works on it little by little. And I'm hoping, of course with this wedding planning going on, they're pretty busy. So I'm hoping to get that up and running at least in the spring. But I do have a Facebook page and it's not updated with some of my newer stuff but it does have designs on there that you can look at. And it's under Coldstream Keepsakes. And that's the name of the lake we're on and that's Coldstream Pond and that's how I got the name of it. And that's what I just have posted things on there and I've actually had communication with some customers. They've ordered some stuff from me on that. But I'm hoping to do a website so I can do some direct sales hopefully in the spring when I get going with that. And I'm also in some gift shops that they do things on consignment. So this is a busy time of year so I have to keep those stocked as well as enough inventory for this craft there. And this is the only craft there I've done in the last few years because of time but I'm trying to pick some more to do now that I've got more of the time to do it. So with that, Graham, if you'd like me to put that in the blue screen that would be easier. But with that I'm going to turn it back to you Graham. KC1DQS. Thank you."}]}
