And I can't remember for sure, but I think, well, I had a job at the Rainier Pope and Paper Mill, I think that's what it was. It was Rainier and it was big rolls of paper, like 20 feet long, three or four foot in diameter. They weighed many, many tons. And one of the jobs I had first there was sweeping the floor in that huge factory, changing, well, these cores, when we used the paper down, there was maybe a quarter, a half inch of paper on these cardboard cores, 20 feet long. And I was given a knife, a paper knife, which I still have today with changeable blades, big, strong, changeable blades. And I had to strip off this half inch of paper on these 20 foot rolls so they could reuse the roll again. Rainier, I think it was Pope and Paper, or Paper Company, maybe just the Paper Company. That was the first job there. And then very quickly, I did that and managed to get a job as an apprentice over in the electrician's department, pulling around Sparky. He was a full-fledged electrician. He was taking care of all the electrical stuff, 2300 motors and stuff in the Rainier plant. So that's what my first job was. Anyway, that's a long time ago, Joe. Back in that KC7GHD. Well, yeah, I know what you're saying. My first job there was, as I said, I was a petroleum engineer. I was pumping gas at a gas station. And that's when gas was, oh, I think about $0.50 a gallon before the second big rise in prices, up to $1.40 or so. But yeah, imagine that. And then I remember when it was $0.30 a gallon. So anyway, I wish you luck with your back pain. And I hope that works out. I've had some back pain here lately from my crash. And I knew inevitably anytime you get in operation, you're gonna get arthritis. And I sure hope that's not starting to settle in because that's got back pain, less than worse than back pain, no doubt. So anyway, thank you both. And picking fruit. Yeah, Bob did that too. I mean, everything on the farm, we had fruits and vegetables and animals and getting eggs, nothing like getting fresh eggs down from the hen house. There you go. All right, you are looking to do the work. I am Joe in Las Vegas KC7GHD control. And we're ready for another round of check-ins. And today's question of the day was, it was, it is, what was your first real pain job that you got a paycheck in W-2 form from not babysitting or cutting grass? What was your first real pain job? And did you have any side projects to do anything on the side? Joe was my, I did mechanical work on the side of the cars, but my main thing was photography on the side. Did a lot of weddings and parties. And my buddy who you've seen in the videos, I photographed a lot of his events and parties for him. So anyway, Gail, K-Zero ECK, I have you on the list. I see you that are logged in there and I know you have a hard time. So anybody else that wants to check into worldwide friendship net, come on in now. And again, we recommend you check out it here. I had to unlock the computer. It was, uh, it became locked after inactivity there, uh, for a little while. But, uh, it's all done there now. Yeah, good morning to you, man. That was quite the list. Um, I was just, uh, sat back in the chair thinking, uh, when am I gonna come up? Because the bottom is, uh, it's got to be coming close soon. And then there was another couple and another couple. Man, it's like the list didn't end. Yeah, I tried out a new headset this morning. As a matter of fact, I tried it out on the Calibunga net earlier. And, uh, I was given a good audio report from it. It's, uh, technically a gaming headset. But I figured the things that it does good at gaming, uh, audio quality through the noise-canceling mics, and, um, audio quality through the headphones itself, um, were good. Uh, extremely good. As a matter of fact, I was very impressed. I had never put on a headset in my life that sounded as good as this thing does. And, uh, for anybody that's interested in knowing what it is, it's called the SteelSeries. That's the brand name, SteelSeries. And, uh, it's an Arctis Nova 5. An arctis, just spelled A-R-C-P-I-S. It's an Arctis Nova 5 wireless. So, I highly recommend, uh, out to this station for sure. Let me tell you, it's, uh, my favorite headset ever. And that's saying something, because I've got just around my desk alone, there's five headsets. And this thing smokes all of them. Absolutely every one of them, so. If anybody is interested in a good headset for, uh, Echo Link or All Star, or, um, you know, pairing with your phone for listening to music, it's, uh, it's two-mode. It's Bluetooth, but it also comes with this little dongle that enables 2.4 gigahertz, uh, zero-latency mode. So, if you want to use this headset while you're watching a movie, or playing a game, or watching a TV show, there's zero latency, so your audio from your mic will line up perfectly with the, uh, audio from the, you know, your surroundings and stuff, in the game, or in the movie, or whatever. So, um, highly recommend these things. Uh, anybody that's interested in getting a new headset, the mic is excellent on it. Uh, at least as far as I've been told, I'm using it right now, so you can let me know. This is repeater station Kilo Kilo 10 in November for the All Star Note 6222. It's, uh, it's retractable, so it's just pushing, it goes right inside the headset, you don't even see it. Uh, which makes it really good, you know, for listening to music and stuff, too, because you don't have this, uh, mic that's in your way. So, other than that, uh, my advertising is done for today. 7-3, everybody have a great day. Uh, we get nice weather here on the Rock. I'm going out on the deck to relax with smoke and, uh, some very loud music. 7-3 from here on the Rock, this is EO1, UKZ. Okay, Darrell, yeah, that sounds interesting. Uh, I may, uh, need to get another headset here myself. Uh, I've got, uh, Turtle Beach, uh, that's what I've been using for quite a while, and the, uh, coating over the, uh, ear pads that are coming off, so, uh, this still works okay. If I can get my, uh, laptop to, uh, work with it, but, uh, anyway, uh, yeah, that sounds kind of interesting. I'll have to check on those, so, uh, thanks a lot for the information. Alrighty, you have a great day, and, uh, we'll talk to you later. I'm going to try, uh, another round here. Uh, please give me a call, uh, slowly and phonetically. Give me a call at least twice so I can get everything written down. My, uh, old pencil hand is, uh, awful slow, so, uh, like me. Anyway, this is DERR, NAC Control with the World Wide Friendship. If you're there, buddy, the mic is yours. My policy is Josh, I wasn't paying attention. I was looking at this code stuff. I saw a guy do it yesterday, and he said to have it run on your phone once it's finished coding, tell it to develop an app that can run on Canvas. I'm guessing Canvas means your device, your phone, your tablet or whatever. So that's the code that spit out. But I don't know how to run it. And it spit out the second half, which contains additional levels apparently. So I'm not sure, man, but that's what I've been paying attention to here. And my brain is starting to hurt. Coding is not for me. It really isn't. But you can pretty much ask this freaking GPD thing to do anything. It will make an attempt. But I noticed that a documentary I watched yesterday, it's 2025. One has covered Grok and it covered Gemini and Perplexity and a few others. And it was talking about modern AI and the things that it can do. And I didn't realize you could use it to write Home Assistant scripts. Fascinating stuff. You know, you can have it do certain things. You can have it write scripts for just about anything. Websites, I mean, generate the code, upload it. There you go. It's a pretty cool realm we live in. Josh, for sure. And I don't know if you got a chance to look up those headphones that I got the other day after. But man, I tell you, I'm loving these things. I used them again yesterday for like another six hours, I suppose, all told. And the four hours from the night before, that's ten hours of battery use. And I'm only at 85%. They claim 60 hours of music playback and gaming. Or they claim 50 hours if you're using the 2.4 GHz dongle instead of Bluetooth. Which, I gotta be honest, I do prefer for zero latency, right? But these things absolutely rock. I mean, they're fantastic. The sound in them is just great. I love them. And they fit right in with the other five sets of different variants of headphones that I've got here. Back over to you, Josh. The one on you, Casey. Yeah, I'm interested in headphones. I cannot, for the life of me, find my Sony's. I've turned off the alert to everybody in my family. Dig in your bedrooms, find my Sony's. I got two headsets, both of which are $290 a piece, that I'll own now. A couple of years ago, through the kids. And I want them back. Because I think they would be perfect for net controlling. I have a headset. It's wired. It's actually a work headset. So the audio should be fairly good. It's the same style of headset that our call center uses. And they use VoIP. Of course, we have a VoIP service at our ISP. So, that being said, I have it plugged into a USB adapter, which goes to USB-C, which I can plug into my phone. It gives me the boom mic, and it gives me the headset. I don't like how it squeezes my ears. But it seems to be working really well for net control days. I don't use it any other day. Just when I'm rolling the net control because I would like to give you all the best audio possible. I should probably apply that principle every day. But I'm not there yet. The coding, man, I just look at my last mouth because I have my also note on my iPhone. And she can hear it. She likes listening to the net now. So I have that in the living room. And she is listening to it. And I'm over here using my phone and echoing to talk to you all. And I looked over here and you said that and she knew I was going to look at her and smile. Because we were doing that yesterday. I am teaching my wife. She has finally fit onto the bug. She is hooked. We have done some pretty cool things in our teenage days. And then, it's those things that I'm super interested in. I'm trying to get very interested. I'm already interested in AI. So, yeah, we are doing some pretty cool things. And she had already told me today that she had an idea that she would like to put together. And see if she can't make some money off of it. And that's what I'm trying to teach my family right now. Learn how to become a pumped engineer. That's what they call them now. That's the job title. Pumped engineer. It's funny if you ask any AI how to become a pumped engineer. They tell you that there's really no set path. There's no schooling for it. They don't have a degree. It's too new. It's done based on experiences. If you can show a potential employer that you can pump to do some amazing things, you're going to be able to find a job. You might be able to work from home. We are looking at a couple of money making side hustle ventures utilizing AI. We're hoping to make them passive money making income streams. I mean, what's better than having passive income? Absolutely nothing. At least when it comes to money. So, Dale, you and I will get together. I'll get a hold of you after the net. We'll talk about that. We may have to jump on a conference call. But I'll show you how to use that. I'm going to go ahead and take a quick break. And then a call for check ins. Okay. Okay. It is 830 Friday, August 8th. And I am in north central Texas. That means it's time to take all check ins one more time before we head to the top of the list and start our 73 rounds. So, if you've enjoyed anything we've talked about today, if you're listening and you decided, hey, I want to join, well, here's your opportunity. If you make this net great anyhow, so if we don't get to hear from you, then that's just not as good as it would have been if you would have called us. So, with that being said, come on, come on. And speaking of bunnies, this RV park we stay in, many years ago it used to be called the Bunny RV Park because there was just hundreds of bunnies around here. And there's still a lot, but a few years ago there was a couple of cougar, or bobcats, bobcat family here on the hill behind the RV park. And they eliminated a lot of the rabbits, but now they're coming back again. I think the Fish and Game Department came there and removed the bobcats. So they were worried about it and also taking care of our little puppy dogs, so they got the bobcats out of here. So we got two weeks we're going to enjoy here. Jeff, you were on the whole net. Unbelievable. You put him a star next to your name. Um, this is the 73 round, Jeff. Final thoughts from you. Uh, this is KC2PKG and I'm passing it to Km4 QBC. KC2PKG, Km4 QBC. Roger that. Uh, yeah, I missed it. I really have. Getting my day started out right. Just chit-chat with everybody and coming out of the blocks slowly and taper off the plan. I wish. Hey, what Chuck said, it is a nice here today. It's 64 degrees. So I'm gonna get out here before it's supposed to come a shower. Um, I'm 11, so I'm gonna get out here. I've got just a little spot of grass. I've got a weed eat. Um, I had another boy help me get caught up on my mowing and all so far behind. But it's really nice here today. 64. And the air is just crystal clear. So I just found an awesome Volkswagen on Marketplace there. While y'all were chit-chatting. I couldn't believe it. It's a 65 grade. 1965. And it's, I guess what you'd say, a medium good shape. But they want $8,000 for that bug. It hadn't had any work done to it really. It's just a standard bug. I couldn't believe it. The things have gone way out of sight. But anyway, everything has I guess. So I'm gonna get my camper cleaned up today and get this weed eating done. And get ready for the work week. I've got to hit it tomorrow. 24-hour shift and 24 on Thursday. 12 for on Saturday and 12 hours as I work Sunday night. Anyway, I'll be around hopefully all week. We'll see how it goes. I'll probe in and out on those days. Take it easy. KM4QBC. Sorry. KM4QBC. Jeff, it was great to hear you today. This is KC2PKG. And I was looking, I entered a contest to get a Volkswagen van. A camper van. And the more I thought about it, the more I said, well let's see. Because they have, it was the early 70s. So there was no air conditioning. And apparently those things burn gas. Like, I mean, if you got 11 or 12 miles per gallon in them. You were being very lucky. And I thought about that for a while and I said, I don't think I'm willing to give up air conditioning. Alright, KC0MAI. George, it's a 73 round. Final thoughts. This is KC2PKG. You know there was this van named Merl and he studied books all the time. He wanted to become the best mechanic in the world. So, I mean, you name it. He studied books on Ford and Chevy, Toyota, GM, everything. He knew everything there was to know about them cars. How the engines worked, how the electrical system worked. All that kind of good stuff, right? But, one day he decided he was going to take an engine apart. He took out the impact wrench and he held it the wrong way and broke his arm. 70 trees, KC0MAI. Alright, KC0MAI, thanks for joining us today, George. That was great. Oh, and by the way, I was the guys who owned the garage in Harvard Square. They had their own show and the show, I couldn't remember the name of the show earlier on, but it was Car Talk. Which came on every Saturday and it was a fun show. People would call them with their car problems. And they were a funny gang. They were funny people. They really were. Alright, BE3FBX. Final thoughts. This is KC2PKG. Over to you, BE3FBX. This is BE3FBX. Just wanted to say thanks for bringing me into the net today. Hopefully I'm going to be here a little more often. Everybody have a great day. 73. BE3FBX, we hope you can make more. Every day. We'd love to see you as a regular. That'd be great. KB7PVW, you're gone, aren't you? We'll give you one more chance and then we're going to circle back and give Bill a chance. So, Mel, if you're out there, KB7PVW, this is the final round."},{"callsign_confidence":0.94,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-08-05T07:57:05+00:00","id":14299,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":14298,"text":" Well, follow her heart and you'll figure out what song to enter.
