It's 9 o'clock. Time for the 9 o'clock net for Wednesday, July 30th, 2025. I'm Brooks, K9BC, and I will be your net host tonight. My lovely wife, Megan, will not be hosting with me tonight. She is busy working on another project. So tonight, it will just be me. This is a direct associate that happens on the WW7 PSR, 2-Meter Reputer, which is operated by the Puget Sound Reputer Group here in Seattle, Washington. The repeater operates at a frequency of 146.96 with a negative offset and a PL tone of 103.5. All licensed hands and new licensees just getting started are welcome to join. If you have third party traffic, we'd like to hear from them too. We encourage you to press that button. Tell us a little bit about yourself, your radio projects, or just about anything else. Please eliminate your reports to 30 minutes so we can get as many stations in as possible. This is also when the repeater times out. When you're finished with your report, please end with your call sign. That will keep the FCC happy. I'll be compiling with the stations it would like to check in, and then I'll ask for your reports. If you'd like to check in only, let me know that you'll be in and out, also known as an I.O. Again, this is Brooks, K9BC. Let's get the net started. In and out to Sportin Jack, looking forward to Sunday. 73's. Alright Michael, stand by. I've got you KG7 W.O.I. John Paulsville with an I-O for today. John, nice to hear you. I heard the rumor that you were going to make it over to the Rain or Shine at Green Lake Sunday for the new Net Ice Cream Social. I cannot wait to see you in person again. Man, that is going to be, you're going to wear out your arm, your nose, handshakes and flaps on the back and high fives. Man, oh man, it's going to be fun to see you. Alright, so how, real quick though, John, can I ask you about the radio? How is the radio doing? If you brought it over, we might be able to have somebody take a look at it. I was thinking about KG7 ODB, possibly. Would you like to do that if you haven't looked at it yet? No, I'm going to try to figure it out here soon, Jack. Thank you very much for the offer. KG7 W.O.I. Alright, yeah, John, not a problem. If you would like to take some online help, I mean phone help, I'm sure we can have somebody give you a call so we can take that offline and talk about that later. Alright, you have a good day and thanks for dropping by there, John. Go back to Michael, WA780. Michael, good morning. Hey, good morning to you, Jack. WISK-7A, Michael here. Kirkland, I'm on that link. I just, I didn't get up till almost 9.30. So, I just called Larry to apologize to him that I missed a net because he likes to look at me and then he said you were still on. So, I think he's turned off his radio, though. Anyway, not much going on here. It's a cloudy day again. It was cloudy most of yesterday, too. I know Seafair likes to have sunshine, but... I got a few little projects around the house and then I just realized I got to start packing to leave for Bigfoot Friday morning and I'm going to miss your ice cream net. Oh, boy, and I love ice cream. I'll be up roughing in the woods, you know. No facilities where we're going, so... You know, water, toilet, and everything. So, it's... And lots of, you know, radio gear. People talk about their go-back radio gear. I figure radio gear is only about 20 to 25% of what I have to take up there to survive. So, oh, well. It's fun. I last, hopefully, then we come home exhausted. So, anyway. So, we'll be coming, leaving Friday morning and coming back Tuesday morning. So, anyway. Hey, Jack, thanks for running the net. You do a great job all the time. Everybody have a safe day. Whiskey Alpha 7 Alpha Delta. All right, Michael. Well, we'll miss you, that's for sure. But, you know, we'll have some pictures up on the internet, of course. On the Facebook discussion group page. I can send you some off to the side of the side road if you like. That's not a problem. But real quick, how many runners are going to be in the Bigfoot 200 this year? Have you heard yet? And, you know, you might, you know, for nighttime activities, you might take one of those little battery-operated karaoke machines over you, Michael. Oh, Jack, laughing here, but you don't want to hear me sing. So, that's just the way it goes. Oh, and I'll tell you a little story where he's not listening. He can sing in Japanese because he knows Japanese. He surprised all the people when he worked over there for four years. So, anyway. Um, I don't know which other question it was. Uh, anyway. Well, I'm just texting you. Um, let's see. Um, I can't remember your second or your first question, so come back and tell me. Oh, I was just asking if you know how many runners are in the Bigfoot 200 this year. No, I don't, Jack. I can go online and figure out if they max out, though, every year and leave it out. Those people pay faster here was like $1,500 a year. Um, or maybe it was more. Probably more this year with inflation. But, uh, it's amazing. You know, there are all sorts of these self-supported. And the first groups that come through, you've got bakers and people there with food and everything. And, you know, the strikers near the end are, you know, they're socially self-supported. They don't have anybody to pick them up. And people have to haul them places. And, um, anyway, it's. But it's maxed out every year. And there's a waiting list. In fact, all of them. You know, they have actually four races now. They have, um, the Tahoe 200, the Moab, the B-8. And, um, the Ford, I think. If I remember correctly, the Arizona 300. Um, probably in the middle of winter because it's warm down in Arizona. So, um. Anyway, and it's amazing. People like to do all four in a year. I don't know, Jack. Maybe I was 22 still. But we'll be up there with our microphones and our antennas. Probably a long wire. And a vertical, my vertical eagle one on the back of my pickup truck. And, uh, I'm gonna use my elk. And I'm gonna put my J-bolt on and probably another, um, um, 2 meter rig. So, um. Uh, so we'll have radios galore and pop-up tents and all kinds of stuff. So, anyway, Jack. Thanks for asking. Have a great day. Thanks again for doing these great nets. We'll see you in the next one. Alright, Michael. Michael, good luck to you and everybody volunteering for that amazing event, Bigfoot 200. Alright, well, hey, thanks for checking in today. Good to hear you. And somebody is really trying to get a hold of you. It's probably Larry going, Hey, I think Jack's idea about the karaoke machine is a good one. So, think about that. Or he's probably gonna chastise you for revealing the fact that he can sing in Japanese. Anyway, Larry, I hope you're doing well too. Nice to hear you there, Michael. Alright, let's see if there's anybody else for the 9 o'clock net. 10, 12 a.m. Call, sign a name if so, come ahead. K9BC, Brooks, mobile. Let's get Brooks in here. Right now, K9BC, he of the trips to Leavenworth with the family and friends and stuff. How are you, Brooks? Go ahead. Good morning, Jack and everyone on the net. K9BC, Brooks here, mobile 405 South, just about to get on 167 South here. On this overcast Monday, you know what though? It's okay, because it's nice to have a little bit cooler temperatures for a little bit. As long as those take around too long. But Leavenworth was great. It was really warm. We had a good time over there, nice and relaxing. Able to get out and take the dogs for a swim in the river. Got a nice late evening walk and saw some really cool views out there. And the moon was out during the day, Megan got a picture of that. With the moon out and the big mountain in the background and the lake in the foreground, I don't know, it looked really cool. But anyway, back to work today. Got a busy week ahead of us. A lot of stuff going on this week and this weekend of course with the rain or shine coming. Let's see, I'm going to a Seahawks preseason game this week on Thursday, so that should be a lot of fun. And trying to get the office all ready to be painted and have the popcorn ceiling removed. Just got a lot going on. With that, I'll say thanks for doing the Natsack 7-3, everyone. K9, BDC. Alright, yeah, I totally forgot about the Seahawks preseason game. Who are they playing? These are playing the Raiders, which should be pretty cool because you know who's coaching the Raiders now. Oh, and you know who's their quarterback now. Alright, spoiler alert, Pete Carroll and Geno Smith. K9, BDC. Oh, can you say grudge match? Let's go see if Brooks can say grudge match. Grudge match? Lunch? K9, BDC. Of course you can say it. Hey, thank you so much Brooks. You enjoy that game. I tell you, we do have a lot of things going on this week. The rain or shine Natsack. Michael in Yukon, where it's 18 degrees Charlie. It's at around 58 degrees foxtrot, I believe. The, uh, thanks for taking my check and thanks for being there. You sounded good here, good to hear everyone. Working away on the preparatory list for a possible trip out of town tomorrow. Waiting to hear from a different contractor to see if they have whatever they need to justify their trip or do the work. I don't know, anyway, so we're waiting here. So I'm getting ready for that, maybe, or something else, perhaps. A little bit of mystery. This pay had a nice strategic planning session with some members of the local club here. Gosh, it went well. It was session number one. We'd reached out to the membership for some input ahead of time. Always nice to receive more, but we got some, so that's good. We met with those things in consideration and reviewed the last strategic planning. Had a lot of good conversations. Very enlightening, let's say. And I'm still fairly new to the club in general. For 50 years next year, so there's a lot to know here. It was a good one. Well, that's all I got for the moment. How are you doing, Brian? I'm back to you from Victor Yankee 1 Mike Gulls here. Big radio wave to all 73 friends from VY1 MGS. Hey, good stuff. I'm glad that you're getting active with that local club there. PSRG is also at 50 years. We've been doing the 9 o'clock nets for over 30 years. I know that. But yeah, good stuff and getting local there and stuff. It would probably drive me nuts to not know if I was actually going on a trip the next day. You're packed up, but then you're like, wait, am I going? Anyway, sounds like you're in good spirits about that and ready for whatever happens there. So I'm bringing HT with you if you're going on a trip and stuff. Have a great time, be safe, and we will catch you down the log here. Oh, and then how's Brian doing? I'll give a report after this round. I didn't get one yet. Try to keep things moving. Last on this round, Sebastian, how are you tonight? Whiskey Alpha 7 Echo Victor Zulu. Please give us a report. Hey, Brian and Nets. This is Sebastian, WA7EZ, transmitting from Seattle. I had a great day today. Got up and rode the e-bike over to Green Lake and met everyone for the Ice Cream Social. It was great to see everyone and chat about Ham Radio. And I had a Snickers ice cream bar, so can't complain about that. After the Ice Cream Social, my wife, Peng, and I met Robert and Cammie for lunch, so that was fun. Get caught up while they were up here in Seattle. And after that, I just kind of hung out at home and I finished building an antenna I've been working on for a while. And I was wondering if maybe I could test it out. So right now I am transmitting on my little rubber ducky and I would like to switch to this new antenna. And maybe you could tell me what my stats look like. This is the first time. First contact. I'm switching right now. This is repeater station Kilo Kilo 7 November Quebec November. This is WA7EBZ located in Shawna A and main DBJ2 antenna designed by Ed Fong. It sounded good on the receive and I'm curious if it sounds good on the transmit. I will send it back to you, Brian. This is Sebastian WA7EBZ. I think I already said that. And 7-3 everybody. Have a good night. Bye. Well hey Sebastian. Good news. That new antenna is working very well. Full quieting there. I kind of looked up at the voter scope and you're hitting way more of the receiving stations as you were using that second antenna. And it was cleaner sounding. The first antenna sounded good. No problems. But it was actually bouncing between a couple of the repeaters. Sorry the receiving stations. And that one you were lighting up almost all of them. Probably even reduce your power with that newer antenna there. So whatever you got going on there it is more than adequate and I would either vote. So I guess I will. Yeah use that new antenna. It's totally making the trek. No problem there. And the proof is in the pudding there on the voter scope. So yeah when you get a chance play with that antenna. Do a little back and forth. Watch the voter scope. But yeah definitely stick with that new antenna there. Good stuff and I'm glad you're able to get that Snickers bar and head over to the Raider shiny net. And have a little extra time with Robert and that's always a good time there. Thanks for that Sebastian. And we will catch you down the log. I am Brian. K.E. 7 K's at H. This is a 9 o'clock net on the PS RG repeater in Seattle Washington. Let me reset. I'll take a quick turn myself. Brian I'm up in Marysville Washington. It's my QTH. We're not able to make the rain or shine net today. I've got my mother in law coming into town here and so much other stuff to do. I said yes to a gig with a cover band. And I guess it's a group where they actually have a large consortium of people and musicians. And it's never the exact same musicians but they're all extremely high caliber. And basically the group gets hired to do gigs and then they throw together all these different band members. And so they send out some MP3s and all this stuff of even kind of like arrangements of sorts or shortening of songs different medley type things even of some different popular tunes. And so basically I got emailed a drop box of 5 gigabytes worth of music and stuff and a very very very long set list. And I guess for this wedding they have specifically wanted some more country music along with some pop music. So I got the phone call from the drummer of the country band that I had played with some years ago and asked if I wanted to do this. And he asked me about a year ago and I almost forgot about it but it was on my calendar. So anyway that's actually coming up Saturday. It's over, I don't know how you say it, like Roach? R-O-C-H? It's like right on the tip of one of the islands. It's practically the northern most you can get before Canada. It's still in Washington state so we'll be taking a ferry over there Saturday morning and then we play until after 11 o'clock p.m. They're providing a hotel room and I don't think we can even get a ferry home that late so I'd be heading back Sunday morning. Let me reset. So I would not be able to make that, what is it, the ham, the ham, wait a minute, what do you call it? Swap meat over at the Shoreline Community College that morning there. So basically today we were cleaning up and doing a bunch of stuff, had to make a dump run and our recycling only gets picked up every other week. We always have too much so we just take our boxes there. I basically spent many many hours today going through music and learning and especially all of the songs that will be in the set list that are specifically country songs and have specific fiddle parts that people will recognize. I need to make sure that I can nail those 100%. In addition to some of the pop songs I'm like well what do I do during these and is there something interesting to do without ruining the original or making it country per se but how do I add to this song. Just some of their pop songs, I won't name them but anyway so I spent a lot of time today practicing and had to get all of that done. I'm going to have a long work week this week so I knew I wouldn't have a ton of time to prepare for this gig that's coming Saturday there. So that's my excuse for not making the ice cream social but hopefully I can make an event here. Maybe if we get another waffle night or something, although those might be jinxed, I'm not sure. Anyway, with that I'll send it back to myself, KE7KZH. Alright, that said, again I am Brian KE7KZH. This is the 9 o'clock net on the PSRG repeater in Seattle, Washington. Good afternoon Jack and everyone on the night time, K9BC Brooks here. Up in Linwood, mobile in the work car at the branch up here. So you mentioned tunnels because Dan's going into a tunnel. It was last week I think it was. I was on Mercer Island going west on I-90 driving and I had just drove into the tunnel so I was maybe about 100 feet into the tunnel and I keyed up to try to check in to get my name on the list because Rebecca was calling for names. And when I came out of the tunnel I heard that some other people had checked in and that someone had doubled and so she heard my double about 100 feet in but I couldn't hear anything once I got that far in so it was kind of interesting. So there's another data point for you. But regardless, let's see, it is Monday. Back at work here. A lot of running around today. I was over in Ballard earlier and then I was out in Woodinville so now I'm up in Linwood. I'm going to go inside and do a few things here. Have some lunch and then probably start making my way back towards home. But what did I have to report on? I don't really remember. We did a lot of stuff. We got a lot of stuff done this weekend. A lot of chores around the house. Got a lot of projects done. And a lot of things cleaned out. A lot of stuff thrown away. It's not springtime but I guess you can call it the wintertime cleaning. But yeah, we're making some good progress. We've got some shelves in the garage cleaned out. And this much closer to doing some more projects. Doing some projects on the mill. So we shall see.
