So there. I'm surprised I'm still up. I'm usually asleep by about 9.30 or so. Well let me see, today I watched another DOOM movie called The Day After Tomorrow, which was a lot of action in it so it was kind of a fun thing to watch. Speaking of chess, I play a little bit here and there. But I enjoy on YouTube watching the Two Little Russians, it's brother and sister called Tweedle Dee Dum play. They are so fast and they don't even pay attention to their move. They're usually looking up at the ceiling or someone somewhere else because they can anticipate the next move. But I could watch most of the chess things with you know, Prague and Magnus and Dukasz and Nakamura, Fabiano, some of those guys. I've watched all the games for the past five or six months. These guys are good. So let's see. No music tonight. A couple of people had colds. So yeah, what else here? Yeah, I did pretty good the other day in Mahjong. I play about three times a week. It's a fun game. It keeps the hand and eye movement going and keeps your brain working. Anyway, I hope to see you on the 25th. KG7FWB. You bet, the 25th and the last Rain and Shine of the Season coming up. Yep, I'll be there and looking forward to seeing you. I did know there was all this chess activity on our net. That's great. I do not have the sophistication to watch a game and drill through it like you. Oh God, I can't remember. Who's talking about chess? Oh, chess. That's right. I'm sure you get a lot out of a game. Of course, I don't have the sophistication to watch a damn marriage game. I'm not much of a ball player either. I'm not going to get it much, I'm afraid. That's why they let me do the Saturday Night and I'm going to get my marriage out and stuff outside. The power's out over here, so I'm a little stir crazy. And I haven't been volunteering at the food bank because I'm getting married on Monday. So I'm even more stir crazy. So thank you for having me on the net. And again, I hope you can hear me on my handheld today. Haven't gotten my 50 foot antennae put up yet because I'm remodeling the kitchen. And that's all going on in my world. I'm excited for Monday, but I'm trying to keep it cool. And we'll see how we entertain ourselves without power here. I think my spouse just went and got burgers or something because I can't cook dinner. If you go on the A7, go back to rectangle. KK7QQT Jessica. Yeah, that was way clearer. Thank you so much for taking care of us so well. Yeah, we heard you very well. And I just wanted to, you said you're getting married on Monday. Did I get that straight? Yeah, Bill, that's right. We're getting married on Monday. Because your Monday was a better day because there should be less people. But with the government shut down, we're getting married in a park. But with the government shut down, who knows, maybe it'll be packed. Well, Jessica, that's wonderful news. Yeah, just for the luck. That's just wonderful. Congratulations. And one other question. You say your power is out. Where are you where the power is out tonight? Sorry about that, Bill. And thank you for the congratulations. But I guess I didn't mention I am in Brownsville, Washington. It's south of Brownsville, right across the water from Beale Creek. Brownsville. You know, Paul, I didn't realize there was a Brownsville in there. I was biked over on that side. But I know where you are. And there's no Brownsville. Oh, that's wonderful. That's great. Thank you so much. And I hope that wedding in the park goes very well. Government shut down, be damned. Who cares? You're just getting married. And it's a park. I don't see any problems. Thank you so much, Jessica. Good talking to you. Come back soon. Let's see, you're listening to the 9 p.m. PSRT SocialNet. My name is Bill, K7WSD. And this is the moment, or the minute, between rounds two and three, where we try and give you a little review of what's coming up in the world over the next week or so. We have the two usual Saturday announcements for next week, the 11th, the SimplexNet on 1-46-56. That's at 8 p.m. Do join it. And let's see, oh, the Ham Connect program. No, no, I'm skipping there. Oh, to come open house, of course. That's on Saturday morning. What else do we have? Oh, October 11, 9 a.m. The Kitsap County Amateur Radio Club Annual Ham Fest, 2025. Google that or look at the PSRT page if you want any instructions for that. Same day, next Saturday, the 11th, is the PSRT board meeting. That's at 1-30 p.m. That's on Zoom. And you can easily get into that on Zoom by just going to the psrt.org, the main page. That'll show you the link. Big news is Saturday, October 25. That's, as Jack puts it, it's season seven, episode six of our Rain or Shine. This is going to be the Halloween Rain or Shine at Gasworks Park. We'll be next to the covered Gasworks by Lake Union on the east side of the park. You can't miss it and you'll probably want to miss it because it's got a roof and it might be drizzling. So come on over. Have some donuts and coffee. And enjoy the last Rain or Shine of the year for PSRT. That is. Halloween is the 31st. I think you didn't need to be told that. And the week after that, Saturday, November 8, is the next PSRT educational meeting, 1-30, again on Zoom. The topic is amateur radio in space, ham radio satellites and ISS. So you come on by. That's going to be a lot of fun. I think that gets us far enough into the fall, doesn't it? Let me see. Yeah. Yeah. That'll take care of us. Very good. This is the PSRT 9 p.m. social net. My name is Bill, K7WSP. We're starting round three right now. So come ahead with your call sign and name."},{"callsign_confidence":1.0,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-10-18T21:56:56+00:00","id":63768,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":63767,"text":" Yes, so Xfinity, formerly Comcast, they have a cell phone service. And I've had that for about five years. And what I did originally was I went with this thing where you would get your \u2013 it was really cheap at first. And you would get data by the gigabyte. It would be like $12 per gigabyte. And for a long time I really wasn't using much data, but I just kept finding myself going over the cap, especially if I went on a trip or something like that. But basically what Xfinity does, they don't have their own network. They piggyback with Verizon. And Verizon is a perfectly fine carrier. But one of the problems with it is when I go visit my sister down near Portland, she lives on this big hill on the Washington side. It's Camas, Washington. And the only thing that works up there is T-Mobile. So that's one reason why I got T-Mobile. But anyway, to answer your question, yes, you can get cell service from Xfinity, but it just seemed like the time was right to make that the clean break. KG70DB. KG70DB, K7WSP. Well that's interesting. I just never knew about that they had service. Actually, I've been a T-Mobile subscriber on that 55 plus plan. You mentioned, gosh, for a long time, because I'm well past 55 plus. And I really thought the service was very good. What I particularly liked is that it works really well when you're traveling internationally. They've got pretty good service pretty much everywhere. I'm trying to think how it works. You get some data. You get some like 5GB of roaming data and free text and like 10 cents a minute phone calls, I think, something like that. And as soon as your plane lands and you get out of airplane mode, a little text message pops up and they say, welcome to Timbuktu. You have mobile service now. I really like that feature of it. Anyway, I'm sounding like an add to now though. Let's see, we talked to Dean. We had an I.O. from KK72ES, Justin. I wonder if there's anybody else still hanging around who wants to say hello. This is K7WSP. And this is the Puget Sound Repeater Group 9 p.m. Social Net. We're somewhere in round three, I think. We answered it somewhere. Great to hear your report. I'm jealous of your adventures down south there. Sounds like a lot of fun. Bill, I have to ask, you mentioned mesh core earlier and I'm just curious, is your mesh core node named with your call sign? I have occasionally seen your mesh-tastic node from my QTH and sent messages but they have never arrived. I'm really curious if I could hit you from here with mesh core. My mesh core node has been powered down for a while so I've got to fire that back up. Anyway, thanks for the net Bill. I have to say also to Joan, I love the report about Star Trek comics and trading cards from Bossa Nova Bill. That's super cool. I had some Star Trek trading cards when I was a kid. I had a bit of an obsession with Star Trek The Next Generation and in fact I still do. I also have the Tri-Quarter and Phaser toys and I think they're still in my parent's attic somewhere. I should go find those. Anyway, I was bummed to not make the rain shine today and I hope everyone had a ton of fun. My family had a day at home. We got so much stuff done around the house that needed doing which was great because we're kind of looking ahead to the holiday season here with Halloween on Friday and we get crazy busy around that time for the next couple months here. So it felt good to kind of get things in order for that. And then tomorrow we have some friends coming over in the afternoon and the kids are going to carve pumpkins and I'm going to be making one of my favorite soups. It's a chicken potato soup that's just fantastic and perfect for fall and I'm going to make some fall inspired cocktails for the grownups so that'll be really fun. I'm running here on battery power tonight. The lights are still on but the wind really just picked up over the last like five minutes or so. So I don't expect it to stay that way for much longer. I'll send it back to Ned and Bill. Thanks for running it and hope everyone is well. This is KK7 QES. KK7 QES, K7 WSP. First to answer your question, yes, my mesh core node is under my call sign. I also with the help of another hand put a mesh core node rather well placed up on top of the Northeast Queen Anne. There's a school up here and so if you see Northeast Queen Anne repeater number 17, that's me too. So a couple of questions for you. First of all, have you been on mesh core within the last few months? So do you know about the new frequencies and parameters that you're using? That's question number one. Question number two, oh, I made a bad note. I only have two questions. Question number two is your node under your call. Question number three is what are the costumes that your daughters have chosen for Halloween? Back to you, Justin. So Rich, you gotta stop going on vacation and traveling, that's just all there is to it. Meanwhile, I've been hearing good reports about the picnic today and I'm actually on Facebook right now, starting to look at the pictures and everything and Madeline doing her live part which is pretty cool. So I'm going to be looking at it over there and enjoying it. Here at the Bay Area today it was about 70 degrees out today and sunny and a very nice day. The squirrels were out there on the patio doing their bit, having a good time out there. Rocky came out to the sliding glass door late this afternoon and stood up and looked in at me. You know, he's quite a squirrel. You know, when I first met him, so to speak, I looked out there and this squirrel was across the courtyard. And I looked over and he looked at me and he came running from where I was. And I said, well I guess you're going to give you some peanuts there. And ever since then he's been keeping up the good work. And I was watching my Dodgers lose today and I just did some pieces and doing some work here on this thing I'm going to start doing, trying to put together some kind of a thing for travel around the Bay Area and see what I can do to make it unique. And so that people would download it and buy different pieces of it, so to see what happens. There's a lot of haunted places around here, as probably there is up there. And so that's part of the thing I'm working on too. But yeah, it feels neat listening to the nets today. You know, the new net I really got a kick out of and that was great. And so I was also watching tour de France and man, when these guys have these bicycle credits, they have a big bunch of them going, you know, riding around. And man, sometimes people make a mistake and there's bikes going every which way. And I even saw one guy one time have like four bikes stacked on top of him. The riders weren't on it, but their bikes were and they had to kind of pull them out of these bikes. You know, these bikes are all carbon fibers, so they're really light, so it's not like he's getting crushed. But it looked pretty bad when you looked at it. And then they go sliding along that pavement, you know, with the base coat. They got his repeater, he's got his coat on, and then kind of just, I see him with big straight parts in that. And some just can't go any farther, he's just too banged up, so I feel for them. So with that, I'll turn it back to the net. I hope everybody out there has a good night. That's all the thoughts that are going through my head right now, KK7PZU. KK7PZU, I think you said. Thank you, Chris. Yeah, I think, the turbo, you and Robert and Kami ought to go in together on a nice oil well investment, I think is what you guys need.
