We went up my buddy's place up in the hills. And I had my HT. And I said, my buddy who wasn't here, he was trying to listen to the Mir space station. Now on there, the only thing they would do was pack a radio. And so it was clarinet. And so I turned and put my radio on the frequency that Mir was, which I don't remember what it was now. And then so all of a sudden, we were listening. And all of a sudden, we could hear the sound going ee, ee. And then it would go ee, ee. And it got louder and louder. And it got brighter and brighter. And when it came over the top of us, literally, it was rattling my radio. Because it was coming, the signal was so strong off of it. And when it got right to the highest point, it must have got a perfect reflection, I guess, from the sun. Because all of a sudden, it had a big burst of light. And then we saw it coming down and going down. And still the whole time going ee, ee, ee, ee. And then it went off the horizon and away it went. And my buddy who was not a handle was very impressed. I was impressed. What the heck, man? That was really something. Anyway, that was a lot of fun. But the space station is the top and coolness. And the Mir is a distant second. So back to you, Bill. AB6MB. AB6MB, K7WSB. I have to say, Jeff, you do a fantastic invitation of a digital signal from a satellite. We could launch you and have great communication. And I'm sorry to tell you, but Mir is longer ago than 15 years ago. It's way the hell back then. I just Googled it. It was in orbit from 86 until 2001. So it's way back there. Ancient history. A lot of younger folk probably never heard of the damn thing. All right. Thank you, Jeff. Let's see. Now we're going to pop over and talk to Kingston Bill, KC5WSH. Come ahead, Bill. Thank you, Bill. K7WSB, KC5WSH over here in sleepy Kingston. Bill, good day over here. Wife and I loaded up this morning. Got down one cup of coffee before we hit the trail and motored over to Fort Townsend. We're in a rut, I guess. Let's see, stopped at the little cafe there at the airstrip and had the usual fare. It was a cloud cover. Cloud deck pretty low. So that's going to curtail the folks flying in and out there. Let's see. Stuck around there for a bit. Then we went on into town, Fort Townsend. Some kind of a change going on there at the boat haven. A lot of things were out of pocket. I'll use that term. A lot of the boats that you typically see in locations where they're doing a bottom job on them, they weren't there. So I'm not sure what maybe a big administration shake up there. I'm not sure. Then we went on over, let's see, to Whimper's Mercantile there. I don't know if you're familiar with that place. Dry goods, clothing, sporting goods, and so forth. And they've got a big change up in the parking arrangement. And you got to watch your step. It's not pay parking, but if you stay too long, I don't know what they do. They may get after you with a big switch. But from there on over to the farmer's market and walked through there and the usual fare, pristine vegetables. So that's what we did. And we had a fun time returning. We got hung up in something crossing there at the canal bridge. So I'll leave it at that. This is repeater station. Oh, I bet your butt hurts by getting hit by the alligator there, but we heard you just about up to the end. Actually, let me just toss it back to you and make sure you were done. Go ahead, Bill. Yes, I did. Yeah, I think I'm bleeding here. I better check. Well, anyhow, got to cut it a little too close. Good day for us over here. Got back home before dark, and all is well. So good day. All right, thank you very much, Bill, for picking her up. And I want to send you a text to see if you followed through on the gentleman over here in my neighborhood that may have been helped on that HF arrangement there. I'll leave it at that. Kind of a messy comment, but I think you know what I've talked about. Carry on, everybody. Have a good night and a good day tomorrow. KC5, WFH. KC5, WFH, K7, WFB. Thank you, Bill. I passed that along to Rich, and I think he's following up on that. I'll be in touch with you. But you had your usual tour over to Port Townsend. I got to come up sometime and join you for that. Just always sounds like fun. Thanks so much. And let's see. Now we have another visitor from the remote parts of the internet, ZS4DP. I'm doing everything right. Not really. Well, thanks to everyone for joining me for this SocialNet tonight. I'd like to thank the Puget Sound Repeater Group for the use of this repeater. Come ahead. This is Jonathan Whiskey Zero X-ray Oscar in Maple Leaf. One of my last nights in Maple Leaf, actually, we moved up to a location in Everett, down by Martha Lake. I am emptying out this house over the last few days. I've been coming to the house, taking loads away in my smaller than a panel truck truck. I was very fascinated to hear Joan, and I, you know there's a song, make me a pallet on your floor. That's sort of an idiom. I have made a pallet with a lot of curtains and stuff. Somebody laying around here. I kept taking things out of the house until there was nothing to sleep on. So I did that because I decided I wanted to get some Indian food and spend the night here. But the tricorder thing was very interesting. Also, as far as the audio on Echo Link and any of those, I know how I want my audio to sound and I know how to structure it so they can sound that way to stay within the headroom and to not brick wall or distort or clip or anything like that. The problem is, seeing that and making that knowledge apply itself, it's really hard with Echo Link. It's really hard with a lot of the other things too I've found. It's just you can't, it's not intuitive and you don't get forgiven like with analog. There's no forgiveness when digital, when you overdrive you're just not intelligible anymore. It's horrible. So anyway, it's a beautiful night here in Seattle. Welcome. W0XO in Maple Leaf. Thanks for doing the net. Your voice is so pleasant. Well, thank you, Jonathan. Nobody ever complimented my voice before. That's good to know, W0XO. Thank you so much. Yeah, as I said, I don't really know much about audio. I'm just glad to get a signal out. The one thing I do like, of course, on Echo Link is it does have that test facility right built into it so you can record your own voice. You can at least hear what the tweaking that you've done, you can hear how it sounds. So I really like that. Very good. Thank you. Let's move ahead and talk to John, W7JSM. John, how are you today? Well, good evening, everybody. This is John, W7JSM. I'm doing good. I spent a lot of the day with one of the grandkids, Oswald. He's 16 months old. He's walking some and a happy little kid. But I had my guitar out today, so I put a pitch in his hand and showed him how to strum on the strings. So he was doing that and he was really giggling. He was quite enjoying that. I'll keep moving him in that direction. Anyway, I'll be mad. It's been a pretty good weekend. I haven't really been out in about a month because it's a sea fair and I know what traffic is going to be like out there. I plan on watching the hydro races and the Blue Angels show tomorrow on TV, but I haven't really done a lot other than that. So I've just been kind of hanging around the house. W7JSM. Well, hanging around the house with grandkids is extra special. And how great you had Oswald picking away at your guitar. I've noticed with our grandkids, his little kids just like music. It's just so natural. I was watching a band performance in a park a few months ago and just watching the two, three, four, five year olds, they just dance. They just get out there and dance and have a great time. It's really fun to watch. Thank you, John. You are listening to the 9 p.m. PSRG social net. My name is Bill, K7WSB. If you want to chat with us, come ahead. This is VK 3 kilo kilo here from the land of the future, where it is 10 past two in the afternoon. And Megan, I've actually taken a couple of days off work, so I've a couple of days owed to me. So I've driven about one hour and a half east of my QTH to the capital called Melbourne, which is in Australia. Those that know the map of Australia on the southern east coast of Australia, the state of Victoria, and I'm in Melbourne. So if you've got nothing to do, look me up, hi, hi. Anyway, I'm just sitting at the outdoor section of one of the local bars here. I've just had a nice lunch. And yeah, I'm just waiting for my friend to knock off. I'll be staying the night at a friend of mine's QTH tonight here in town. And he's a ham, and we're gonna do a few ham radio projects tonight at his place. So I'll be staying the night. So I'll be spending the night with him and his family. And yeah, I'm looking forward to that. And of course, I did make a nice chocolate ripple cake last night in this morning. So I'm sitting in the car in the fridge keeping nice and cool chocolate ripple cake with cherry ripe on top. So I'll have to send you a pic, but you're looking forward to having that later on tonight. And yeah, so we're enjoying ourselves. Good to get away for a while. It's been pretty cool here. And so we're bringing on spring. That's all I can say. Back to you, Megan. Thanks for hosting. And catch you all. Oh, and of course, how could I have to park without saying radio wave to Miss Trixie and Remy as well. Cheers to you and back to you. Cheers all. VK 3 double K here from the land of the future. Back to you. Well, Shawn, that sounds like a great couple of days off of work. Got out of town, even though you didn't go that far. That's okay. You don't have to go that far. Just getting out of town. And then you had a nice lunch. You're gonna hang out with another ham friend and work on some ham projects at QTH. Yeah, that's always a good time. And then you made some delicious chocolate cake. Yeah, that sounds really yummy. And you sound like you put some time into it. So hopefully it's as good as it is. And in the fridge, in the car. Wow, Shawn, you have the whole set up there. You have a great time with your ham friend there and have a great rest of your time off there, Shawn. We'll talk to you again soon. Okay, it is 9.12 p.m. I'm K9MLR Megan. We had an IO from Cody AG7LR. Thanks for dropping by, Cody. You have a wonderful rest of your evening. And now we're gonna go talk to Bill, K7WSB. How's it going, Bill? Well, good evening, Megan. This is Bill, K7WSB. I am up here in Steveson, British Columbia. My wife and I are going over to Vancouver Island on the Sosson Ferry tomorrow. And we thought this would be a nice jumping off point. For those who've never heard of Steveson, which I never had until recently, it's southwest of Vancouver, just at the mouth of the Fraser River where it dumps out into the Gulf of Georgia. Nice little town, nice little motel, and a nice little meal. So it's a pleasant trip. I wanted to report on something that is exciting to me, being a techno nerd, because when I travel, I just use Echo Link to get back into PSRG. And I've had trouble over the years with dropping out and, you know, if the screen goes dark, it's all just linked to all kinds of problems. So I decided to see what All Star had to offer. And I just had all my travel open All Star mode on my phone. So I just did this thing called Web Transceiver Mode. All Star, oh, I'm sorry, this is DV Switch Mobile. I'm an Android app. DV Switch Mobile, you put it into Web Transceiver Mode, and it runs like a champ. I've had it running now for an hour and a half, sitting on PSRG, not dropping out. And it's full duplex, so I don't have to, it's not too hard to get in. And it works. I recommend it. DV Switch Mobile, Web Transceiver Mode, go do it. Back to you, baby. This is 27 WSP. November, All Star Node 16-2, located in Shelton, Washington. Well, Bill, that sounds like a great trip. You're up in British Columbia, going to Vancouver Island tomorrow. Yeah, that is such a beautiful area. I do know that area because my coworker, my counterpart at work, she and her husband plan to retire up in that area. They have been traveling out and about around lately up there trying to see where they would like to retire. So yeah, such a gorgeous area. I'm a little bit envious there. Bill, you have a lovely time. And yeah, sorry to hear about Echo Link. I know sometimes it works really well for people, and sometimes it doesn't work very well at all. So hopefully you will find the right thing for you, Bill, and it will keep working for you. You sounded great tonight, though. So whatever you were doing was working great. Have a fantastic time, Bill. And we will talk to you again soon. Okay, last but not least on my list here is Matt, KJ7WQI. It sounds like you're maybe in Seattle. Take it away, Matt. Hey, family man. All right. I did take down a note of what Bill said there because it does seem a little more convenient than Echo Link, a little more able to jump in there. It was good to be able to see what you guys were doing. I think it was good to see what you guys were doing. I think it was good to see what you guys were doing. I am here in town. It was quite a journey to get over here. We flew Boston to Chicago, sat around for four hours, and then flew Chicago over here to Seattle. And unfortunately, I'm in a hotel room tonight that does not have very good RF systems. I'm in a hotel room, and I'm going to be sitting in a hotel room where I can get my hands on my phone. And I'm going to be sitting in a hotel room where I can get my hands on my phone. I have very good RF capabilities. I was trying before the net got on, and I cannot hit the PSRD from here. I can hit a few other things, but not enough to be hurt. So I am on Echo Link tonight, unfortunately. And then tomorrow we fly from here to D.C. And then from D.C. back to Boston. But yeah, quite a day. We found out in the air on the way over here that my airline had had an outage with the weight and balance system, which basically grounded every airplane that we had trying to take off. It's kind of wild. It's going to kind of lift up some air travel for the next couple of days because those schedules are packed tightly. So if you are traveling by air for the next couple of days, just be aware there's likely to be a couple of delays. But we're hoping to get out of here tomorrow. I have to show up at the airport. I'm supposed to be on an airplane at 1215 tomorrow, so I'm going to be able to catch just the first couple minutes of the net. But I should be here for the 9 a.m. net in the morning, which will be nice. Other than that, that's all I got. It's been quite a day. I've got a good 17-plus hours here in Seattle to relax and enjoy the nice weather because it is beautiful. Pilot told us on the airplane, he's like, it's probably going to be rainy when we get in. Turns out it was beautiful outside when we got in, so I love that that turned around. Anyways, thank you for running that, Brooks and Megan. Hope everyone's doing well. All the numbers, 73, 33, 88, 22, I don't know. Are there other numbers? I need to come up with that. Anyways, KJ7WY. Well, Matt, I'm glad to hear you got here before the checks and balances system went down because that does not sound like that would be a fun delay after going from Boston to Chicago and Chicago to Seattle. So I'm glad you made it before that delay, and hopefully you'll be late enough tomorrow that it will kind of catch itself before you need to head back out. And at least you're going the short way home this time, Hi Hi, and not the long way, like you normally do through San Francisco. Safe travels back to Boston tomorrow and back to, I think, the humidity. Take care of yourselves, Matt. Get some rest and, yeah, bummer that sometimes when you get near the airport, you just can't get into the PSR repeater, which is always a bad day. What you mean there. Glad to hear you connected with Amy and Madeline while you were in town. It's fun to hear when people pass through. You take care. Safe travels back tomorrow, and we will talk to you again soon. Okay, with that, it is 9.20 p.m. I am K9 MLR Megan. Gonna pass it over to K9 and BDC to run the next list. We got involved in a discussion of Genesis, particularly the saga of Judah, Tamar, and company, which is the origin of the tribe of Judah. And it, I don't know, this all genealogical stuff in Genesis absolutely fascinates me. And so I invariably get kind of ensnared in it and that's why I'm late. Anyway, let's see, today I went outside and played for the birds. The only thing the birds seemed to respond to was the military medley, which I play almost at tempo, except for the darn coast guard hymn, which I'm still struggling to actually integrate with the rest of the pieces. But I have to get it done by, I think it's the third Sunday in September, because that's the harp group and I intend to play it there just to sort of freak them out. Yes, the minstrel boy to the war has gone, his father's sword, he is girded on, and his wild harp flung behind him. And it talks about the warrior bard. I think everybody needs to hear those songs on a harp just so we know what the warrior bard sounds like. And of course I'm working on the work in progress, which somebody titled the mind benders gambit and that actually might not be a bad title. So we'll see what happens there. It's got a theme of mind bending about it. Anyway, that's about all the news that is news. 73-3388, thanks to Bill for being on the net and thanks to all the rest of you for listening, especially to my cousin Rob, who's down further on the list. And I love you all. This is KA9EHD back to net. KA9EHD, K7WSB, thank you Ann, that was very interesting. The genealogy in Genesis, you say you're fascinated by, I've only skimmed through it, well I guess I actually read it once, but that's with all the begets after the begets after begets. Yeah, I didn't find it interesting. I'm glad you did. There must be a lot more in there that I missed. And I like your playing for the birds, the military medley for the birds. I was trying to think of a bird that would be appropriate who's kind of a military bird who'd want to listen to military music. I actually can't think of any military birds, so maybe someone else can complete that incomplete thought. Thank you Ann. Let's move over from, I think you're in Ballad aren't you, if I recall, let's move over to Bothell and talk to Frank W9LVC, come ahead. Good evening, this is W9LVC, Frank in Bothell, ex of Wisconsin and ex of Illinois also. Just sitting here going through all the junk that I have, trying to figure out which I want to get rid of or what I want to keep. And very hard to figure things that you want to get rid of. It always seems that you want to keep everything. Oh my goodness. Yeah, I've had a few years of collection, so it's a little hard to decide what you want to get rid of and what you want to keep. But what you want to keep usually wins. Anyway, it's rather nice outside. You need to be a little bit cool right now. But otherwise we had a wonderful day. We went traveling around and stopped at a few, excuse me, stopped at a few spots that we haven't seen in a while. Anyway, we should stop at a few more. Good to hear everybody. Everybody's got a wonderful sound and signal. Back to Matt, this is W9LVC, Frank in Bothell. Frank, thanks so much for that report. W9LVC, K7WFD. It is a nice evening, isn't it? Yeah, this time of year is lovely. It isn't too hot. Just a little bit of fall, coolness in the air, but it doesn't fall yet. And it's not raining. That's the nice part. Not raining. Well, let's go down to Jeff where bragging about not raining is more like, oh my God, when is it going to rain? I think. It's still droughty down there, isn't it, Jeff? Today was actually the first day, I think in over a month, that I haven't been working on the transcribe or TSN project. I actually went back to my building project I started earlier this summer before it got really hot. We replaced the old woodsheds here on the property with a 24 by 48 pole barn. I built out of roto truffle beams. They're 10 by 12 and 16 feet long. Those were behemoths that move around. But today I started getting the grades inside the building with gravel. And I hauled 6 yards of 3 quarter minus in the trunk, 2 yards at a time. I loaded it and hand spread it. And oh my god, that was a lot of work. I was really wishing that I had either the skid steer or the dump trailer up here. But unfortunately those are all down at the Oregon property, which is a 9 and a half hour drive from here. Which I'm not going to do for some convenience. I'm just going to have to suffer through it. Because they're going to be down there for the winter probably. But yeah, it's kind of funny. You load 6 yards of gravel and get it spread out and turn around and look. And in that big of a building it looks like you did nothing. I think I covered like a maybe a 10 by 10 foot area there. It looks like I did literally nothing all day. But I tell you what, I feel like I did something. Tomorrow is going to be interesting. I feel like I'm going to be really sore. And I think I got my hands soft over the summer. I ended up ripping a callus off my finger. So that's going to feel great for the next week or two. Pretty much how my day went. Back to net. KK7NQN. KK7NQN. K7WNP. Hunter, that is a heck of a day you put in there. You must be in pretty good shape dealing with, what did you say, 10 by 12 beams 15 feet long. That would take about a dozen of me to deal with and spreading on that gravel. You're a tough hombre. I'm impressed. And you're in good shape. You don't need to walk two miles like me. You're doing fine. Well, thanks so much. Well, if you're listening to the 9 p.m. PSRG social net, my name is Bill K7WSB. Kami here, KJ7RAB. I am tired and sore. Everything hurts. Oh, boy. We did a lot of work this weekend in Gig Harbor, helping out with the estate of a silent key. We got everything packed up and sorted and moved down into the garage Friday, and then we spent Friday night in Gig Harbor and then got everything loaded into the truck today and then drove home and got the truck unloaded. And so we've got to return the truck tomorrow. So stay tuned for a list of gear. I have a message from Jack on the back end. Jack came and helped us out on Friday as well. And thank you so much, Jack. It was great to hang out, and it was really nice to have some extra help. And then Jack messaged me, but my hair hurts. Oh, yeah. The shack was upstairs, and they weren't just regular stairs. They kind of went down and then made a turn and went down the rest of the way. So Jack and I were wrangling these metal shelves down the stairs and then trying to make the turn. And I'm sure it was comical to watch, but I think we did a pretty good job of wrangling those shelves down the stairs. And not too many boat anchor radios, but we got it all sorted. And Robert is master of Tetris. And so I just leave that all to him, arranging it in the truck and in the garage, because if I put it in the wrong spot, he'll move it. He's snoring. He's so tired, he's asleep already. So he won't be checking in. But I'm rambling. Brooks, your antenna looks great. Your shack looks amazing, and I'm really envious of that power supply. Give my best to Megan and Jeff, AB6MB. Thanks for coming in at the beginning and stalling so Bill could get everything sorted. And Brooks, thanks for resetting all of those receivers to make everything work again. Thanks for hosting, and thanks for taking my check in KJ7RAB, back to night control. Cami, that sounds like a lot of work you guys put in. Just telling us that Robert is actually passed out of sleep tells us how much work it is, because he usually has a lot of energy to ston the night on the net. And I guess, yeah, I guess like Jack says, that would make your hair hurt. Well, good for you for getting that stuff out and taking care of the partner of the silent key so that she doesn't have to be burdened with it. And you can help some new hands get some great equipment. Thanks for doing that stuff. We really appreciate that. It's good for the community, and we thank you. Let's talk to Jeff, the savior of the moment. I should explain that not only were we unlucky enough to have a dead repeater, I had been doing some ACS work earlier in the week and all those fire station things where you go out there. I packed all this equipment away, and I put this little teeny box of the connectors that get from my J-Pole into my transceiver. And I just thought I might need something like that, so I put them in my bag. And of course, when I came up here to get going, they aren't here, because they're still somewhere in my bag. So I was panicking, trying to replace, you know, find the right connectors to replace what I couldn't find. And then the repeater's dead. So sometimes the world is not looking out for you. You have to look out for yourself. But we had Jeff and Brooks looking out for us, and I said, Jeff, thank you so much. Over to you. Thank you very much. It was nothing. Just glad to help. It was from my experience of being a neck controller that came in, that's for sure. Because it just didn't miss a beat. Yeah, thanks for doing that, Bill. And yeah, today was a good day. I watched Washington Huskies beat Washington State University Cougars. I just remember what the animal was. And I was thinking about Brooks there, and I was assuming he was having a good time watching the game. Meanwhile, yeah, because I grew up in the Seattle area, so I still liked Washington Huskies. And I never went to a game, but my girlfriend used to go to the university, and I used to live at Blackmon University. So I definitely got a tie-in. Let's see here. Yeah, it was sunny here today. I bet everybody's shocked to hear that. And about 75 degrees, very nice day out. And I was just kind of wondering, Bill, when you pick it up from the \u2013 did you guys have rain there today? I watched the weather radar now for the West Coast on a tablet up on my counter, and I saw a big, green system come across Washington. So I'm interested if you guys saw rain there, because when I asked Alexa, she said it was sunny there. So kind of wondering what's going on there. Meanwhile, RC Dodgers win tonight, which was great and a good game. They swept the Giants, the hated Giants. But I have a hard time hating them, because my daughter and her husband are big Giants fans. And when they found out I became a Dodgers fan, they were not very happy. My daughter said to me, Dad, if it only wasn't the Dodgers. I said, yeah, I'm sorry. I don't know where I went wrong. But anyway, it's about it here. I can't think of anything else. I was too earth-shaking here, except for maybe occasional earthquakes. I have my earthquake monitor called California Seismograph. I highly recommend it. It's a YouTube app you can put on your phone or on your computer. It tells you where all the earthquakes are around the world. It's kind of fun. I've been watching it. They've been having a lot of earthquakes up in Kamchatka. They've had almost a nine point some odd, some big record quake up there. They've been having aftershocks all the time. So that's interesting. And this way when I see out of hazard next quake, I'll be able to know about it. Anyway, let me turn it back to Ned tonight. AB6MB. AB6MB, say K7WSB. Well, thanks again, Jeff. And yes, so the Apple Cup was today. That's so weird. Usually I think of it as a big weekend later in the fall, but I guess with whatever happened in the Pac-10, I guess that's the way they make it work. Another comment, you mentioned the Dodgers versus the Giants. It takes me back when I was a little kid and the Dodgers and Giants were both in New York, the Dodgers at Edits Field in Brooklyn and the Giants at the Polar Grounds in the Bronx, I think. Somebody will correct me if I have that wrong. And it did not rain here today. It was a lovely day. It actually was about like you had, sunny. I think it was about 75. Had a lovely day. Yeah, real pretty. Well, let's go from California back to Seattle to talk to Bossanova Bill. If you're listening and everybody else on the net this is Dean KG7ODD. So let me see today I went over to the Lake Washington rain or shine event and when Sean checked in before it made me realize that there was no YL Posse representation there today but it was still a great event. Just a lot of people always say this but I don't want to mention anybody's name because I will forget somebody but it was great. David the new operator who was number one I don't believe I met him I did see a few people that I didn't recognize but I probably should have said something so anyway hopefully I'll meet him at some other event but yeah afterwards I went out to dinner with or late lunch I should say because it was still late to McMinimins with Cami and Robert and I had some shrimp gumbo which was really good and then after that I went so I brought my IC705 with me and I went to a parking lot at Shoreline Community College and set it up because what I wanted to do is I wanted to see if I could get this app called SDR control that's on my iPhone and what it is is it connects to certain iCom radios and with it you can make FDA contacts and all these features but they added slow scan TV to it so I didn't make any transmissions but I picked up three different SS TV slow scan TV photographs from 20 meters of 14.230 so I mean you just sit there and you let these little pictures come in there's one that has a red car on it and another one which has some kind of mountain display and it's just kind of cool seeing those come in so I want to make sure I get it right because I wasn't quite sure how to add my call sign or if I just need to make a jpeg with information already embedded in it but I think this implementation in SDR control might be kind of new so it might not have all the features like adding being able to add text to existing photographs so anyway that was fun checking that out and yeah it was my IC705 with my buddy sick pro which was working very well and I made a few FDA contacts too. KG7 ODB back to Matt. KG7 ODB K7 WSB. Thanks Dean. I got a couple of questions for you. I've done just a tiny bit of SS TV the stuff that comes down from the International Space Station and just you know recorded the audio and played it into a decrypter on my phone and by the way you probably know but for others the ISS they're going to be doing that again next weekend I think starting Friday I don't remember exactly what time but they're going to do two sessions I think Friday Saturday and then Sunday Monday I think they're going to do six new images I believe from the ISS if you're interested you guys can just google that and it'll pop right up I am sure but my question for you Dean is um it never occurred to me there was other stuff around particularly HF how do you know where to go how did you know 14.230 was the place to go"},{"callsign_confidence":0.94,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-10-11T22:06:11+00:00","id":58454,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":58453,"text":" Hey Bill, hey everyone on the net. To answer your second one first, they're both cats, sort of. My youngest daughter, who is youngest by one minute, is a person riding on top of a black cat. It's one of those inflatable kind of things where it, yeah, it looks as though she is a person riding on top of a black cat. It's quite silly. And my oldest daughter, older by one minute, is, she is a black cat. They were both, I don't know, on the same wavelength, kind of. And yeah, as far as Mash Corps goes, no, I don't think I've been on it for a couple of months. Where I've gotten my information about it previously is from pugetmesh.org. So thanks for the heads up about some changes and new frequencies and stuff. I will head over there now and see if there's some updates there and see what's going on. Or if there's anything else I'm missing, yeah, let me know. KK7QES, back to you. KK7QES, K7WFD. Yeah, look, when you're, well, basically, they change the frequency slightly. The key is that they change the bandwidth to, I think it's 67.5. So if you're not set on 67.5, you've got the old stuff and you have to reflash, or you just have to set the radio settings. And it's the, what they call it these days, the US slash Canada recommended. I'm going into this detail because I talked to a lot of people on Mash Corps today and several of them had sort of fiddled with it a few months ago before they, and said, well, they're not getting much. And the reason is because the community just changed things. It works much better. And you're not going to hear a thing if you're on the old frequency. So check it out and get tuned up with Mash Corps, the latest version. Very good. Thank you so much, Justin. Let's see. So we ran through that bit. Let's take a few more check-ins for this round. But I also can't read my track phone cards so I'm thinking of switching back over to the thing with the T. So I guess we'll see what happens. But otherwise, yeah, when it comes to small print and you can't read it yet it just gets kind of weird. But hey, I still do what I can anyway because, you know, get me motivated, entertained, on my toes. And yeah, now I've got to find out which chord can go to a Surface Go 2 to the TV so that I can actually see its screen. I don't know which card. I don't feel an HDMI port but there is something similar that's smaller. Same shape though. So I'm thinking it's a miniature one. So I'm going to have to figure that out now because I can't use the other beast as it has tin on it and so I'm having fun with that trying to get updated. It won't. Something is missing I guess. Other than that, hey, I'm having it kind of wild all day today. But you know what, I have all of you. I'm entertained because, you know, you're all such good folks so there you go. And yeah, keep me teared up on my diet. I am still working on it. Hopefully at the end of this month maybe I can get something done about that right knee. KJ7, EXM, back to next. Well you work on that because yeah, you want that knee in good shape. So I guess they can do it because you can use that knee better. Well very good. Oh by the way, I think that thing that looks like HDMI same shape but smaller, I've seen those on the newer Raspberry Pis like the Raspberry Pi 4 and 5. And I think it's called a micro HDMI or mini, one or the other. Somebody will correct me who's out there if we have a little more net. Something like that. You'll find it. After my very, my first check-in was kind of lackluster, but anyway. So Day Tripper, I hate to tell you this, but Day Tripper came out almost 60 years ago. It was the end of 1965. Day Tripper came out. It was what they called a double A-side single. It was like on each side there's a song. The other song was We Can Work It Out. But yeah, it's always great to hear John talking about his learning to play guitar. Actually not just learning, just playing guitar because it sounds like he's really making a lot of progress. Day Tripper is a really fun song to play. There's a really great version of Day Tripper. Of course the Beatles version is incredible, but if you want to hear a Day Tripper on steroids, look for Jimi Hendrix doing Day Tripper. He did it on, so in England they used to make artists play live on the BBC. Instead of just playing the records, they'd actually have to go in and play songs. So whether it be the Beatles or the Stones or Jimi Hendrix, they would go in and Jimi Hendrix would play Purple Haze, Foxy Lady and Fire. But he'd also play these other songs. One of the songs was Day Tripper. It's just a really high octave version of the song. Something related to 50 years ago. This is repeater station Kilo Kilo 7, November Quebec November. This is the back recently. So when you think of the beginning of the pandemic, it kind of seems like yesterday, not too long ago. But if the Beatles had appeared on the Ed Sullivan show, which is where they really started in America, if that was the beginning of the pandemic, the album Abbey Road, their final recorded work, would have come out a month ago. So that's how much time within five and a half years or so, six and a half years, they put out so much music. Nowadays, bands will put out an album every five years. Radiohead hasn't put out an album in nine years. But the Beatles, they put out an album every six months. It's just crazy. So anyway, I just thought I'd bring that up. A KG7 ODB, back to that. KG7 ODB, K7 WSB. Yeah, well, thanks for bringing the dates up there. That is interesting. I remember hearing Daytimer in 1965. And I remember, I think it was like you said, in 1970, I think I was driving down the street in Pasadena when I heard that the Beatles were breaking up. And I was shocked. It was just amazing. But they're wonderful, wonderful songs. I'm not much of a musician, but I know a little bit and can read music a little bit. I don't play the piano, but some years ago, my nephew gave me a Beatles' fake book. And so I'd sit at the piano and try and play those chords, just trying to figure out those chords, not playing well, just trying to understand the music. And even to my very untrained ear, the chord progressions are just so cool. It's such interesting music. Very good. Well, thank you, Dean. Thanks for contributing that. I know today was college football, but tomorrow is NFL. So on the NFL website they always have this thing called the power rankings. And what it is is they, it's more of an opinion of who is like the hottest team, who are the hottest teams, they rank them 1 through 32, there are 32 teams in the NFL. And so this week we have the number 1 and the number 2 teams in the entire NFL playing each other and that's at 1 o'clock tomorrow and the number 2 team, the Los Angeles Rams are hosting, believe it or not, the number one team, according to the NFL.com power rankings, the Seattle Seahawks. Both teams are seven and two, and they're in the same division, the NFC West. And whoever comes out on top of this thing will really have the momentum. We have two teams that are firing on all cylinders, and it should be a great game. So this is really like a playoff game, even though we haven't even hit Thanksgiving yet. This is like a great football game tomorrow. So anyway, see what else do I have? And then really the only big thing left in the fall season, and very welcome because it fills up a nice, probably messy weekend, November 22nd and November 23rd, is Repeater Roundabout, which is just a great contest if you like, just like checking with people. It's sort of a non-competitive kind of contest where you just try and get on as many of the local repeaters as you can. The Powers That Be put together a list of probably over 100 repeaters in the area that are all welcoming us to give them a try. And it's really kind of fun. If the contesting is fun, you can sort of team up with other people and sort of command a frequency for a while and check each other in to score points. Anyway other than that I have been up in my radio slash music room today playing practicing guitar. And my new song that I'm working on. Let me let this drop a second. This is W7JSM returning. The new song that I'm working on is the song that inspired me when I was a teenager many years ago. And always inspired me to want to play guitar. I Want to Hold Your Hand and Day Tripper. Day Tripper I've been working on for a while and I got it down for the most part. But I Want to Hold Your Hands also a new one. Every time I just, I always say I'm not going to be competitive and I'm not. I don't really care. I just have too much fun. So I spent a lot of hours on it and just had a ball. Just a lot of fun. Back to you Jack, K7WSB."},{"callsign_confidence":1.0,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-12-21T10:39:43+00:00","id":80441,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":80440,"text":" Well, thank you very much, Duane. Like what was the weakest station that you could make out? You got the call sign, you had the confirmed contact, and did you hear those long view repeaters because I swear I heard Dean operating them. This is Repeter 2P-Pilo-Pilo-7 November 5th, November. Ballstar Note 6-2-P-2 located in Hilton, Washington. Actually Cody and I made it into that repeater up on the north end of Whitby I believe. There was another one out there that was, I always try and go QRP because the two times the bonus is so nice, so the only one I went to more than five watts on was something out to the northwest, it was number 46, I don't remember which one that was. But what impressed me, I just love the contest because it's competitive but totally cooperative. I mean the roving bands that you form, of course you're helping your competitors to get points, but it's just so much fun. The teamwork is like playing basketball or something with the handoffs, it's just fun. Back to you, K7WSB."}]}
