The 2025 British Columbia Academy of Balloon Arts and Sciences Awards, the 2025 Flody Awards have been posted to our blog. The Flody Awards are very, very important. It is of high production value. It is, you've got to see it, you've got to see it. No other thing we've ever done on social media, you've got to go and check out the 2025 Flody Awards. With that, we will be, we're going to get into high gear to launch another one here in a few days probably. And we're going to get that high altitude balloon up. I'm, I've been going longer than we wanted to, but we're hoping for August now. So that's it for Mission Control. Happy summer to everybody. Back to Ernest, okay 7-3-1. Thank you very much Scott for that exciting news there. That's along the lines of my topic tonight, this evening. Not about the balloons, but about getting stuff working, having stuff work. Alright, we just heard from Victor Alpha 7 Sierra Lima. Adrian, are you out there with any announcements? Victor Alpha 7 November is over there. Go ahead. V7NZ, good morning Ernest. Everybody on net. Nothing really new to add. I'm thinking of creating a series of recipes to go with the floaty awards of, you know, certain types of food that could be enjoyed. Specialty popcorn, maybe even nachos, I'm not sure. But those are the kinds of things that you should be eating whilst watching the floaty awards. But we'll also take recommendations on that. That's all I have. Nothing else, just very happy about the balloon. It's currently at, interestingly the balloon went really slowly on the circumnavigation. Winds were slow, it stalled at times. We've had days of no reports. We think the solar panels will be pointing the wrong way. But every few days it's the least reported again. And in the last four days since it crossed the circumnavigation, it's just taken off. The jet stream's gone really fast and it's now off the west coast, northwest coast of Spain by about 150 kilometers. So that's pretty cool. If anybody, you can follow the links at thedipole.com or at v7nfr.com slash pico balloons. And if you don't do that and you just want me to send you a link or add you to my email list where I update people on these things once in a while, send me an email to v7nz at myrac.ca and I'll add you to the list. 7-3 and we'll see you next week, v7nz."},{"callsign_confidence":0.98,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-07-21T06:48:06+00:00","id":9038,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":9037,"text":" I also had some mental illness that got beaten out by him. There's going to be, the government in charge is going to have to cut things, and people are going to be unhappy, and they're going to totally lose power. Just about the time I'm going to retire, we're going to learn how to do everything I can now to make sure that we're taken care of. Politics, money, money, politics, yeah, I mean, like Josh was saying, it's the way people express themselves, and how do you manage that. I mean, if I go out and print up a bunch of signs and put them out, that's basically a donation to a particular party. If you've got thousands of people doing that all over the country, how do you get that money out of politics? You go around and catch the person as they're putting up the signs and finding them and say, hey, you can't do that. You're going to pay someone to run around and count all the signs and say, okay, this party received this much, so we're going to cut their federal-funded money by this much. It's a crazy rabbit hole for sure. It would definitely be better if we could be able to send things out and get the people up there to answer the questions, but there's nobody biased or non-biased. Every individual is a very good person to disagree, but he's got their lean on politics, and so how do you get a fair shake in this damage? And I think that goes back, you know, I don't think it's just happening now. It's happened in the past, but we sort of feel it now. So I don't think we can get the money out of politics other than some of the dark money and some of these other things. We might be able to try to get a hold on, but it's a business, and there's a lot of people donating and putting out money for politics, and I don't think we're going to get rid of it. So Calgary did have a hailstorm in 2024. I think that one was actually in August, but didn't go through the downtown core of the city. I believe it went to the north of the city. That one, that one had 130,000 insurance claims on that storm, and that one was one of sort of the big hailstorms that the insurance industry in Canada was using as a benchmark to say, hey look, this is becoming a problem, right? The claims are going up in particular as it relates to hail. So anyway, that's just an interesting point. So the big hailstorm, the flood in Montreal, so Calgary in Montreal, those were the two things that I missed while I was away as far as Canada goes. And something else that's interesting over here that I wanna share with you guys, Australia's pink lakes. I know we have a lot of people from Australia that are, that take part in the net here. This is repeater station kilo, kilo seven, November, Quebec, November. All star node six two two. 78 three, WWX Freddie. So Australia has a number of pink lakes, and these lakes are essentially the remnants of ancient rivers that dried up about 15 million years ago when they left behind these salty basins. So the lakes are cut off from other bodies of water, and the lakes are actually, in some cases, 10 times saltier than the ocean, and this creates a perfect habitat for salt-loving microbes like, I'm gonna try and pronounce this Italy la salina algae. Hope I didn't butcher that kid and correct me. And salini bactere ruber bacteria. And these are microbes that produce beta carotones, and these are the same pigments that give carrots and flamingos their color, turning the lakes, these very, very vibrant shades of pink, like a Barbie color of pink. Not a dull pink, a very vibrant pink. And climate change and human activity are, they suspect now threatening some of these ecosystems, although these ecosystems are always naturally in flux as well. Lake Hollier, it lost its pink hue earlier due to extreme rainfall, and of course what happens is you have fresh water, which is rainfall, that dilutes the salinity in the lake, and as a result of that, the particular microbes that produce the pigments, they essentially drop in number, right? They die off and other microbes sort of take over. But these new cycle and scientists believe that the lake is gonna recover and become pink again in about 10 years. And there's another one, Pink Lake, and that's near Esperesence, and that one turned blue gray in the 2000s due to salt mining, and experts say it may not recover naturally without intervention. I guess they had some contamination. And it's interesting because these lakes aren't just beautiful, but they're also ecologically important. They support birds, brines, shrimp, and snails, and they give life to some, and they give insights into some of the extreme environments that life lives in. So I thought that was interesting, in particular, because flamingos are pink because of the shrimp that they eat, they're white normally, and they're born white, and as they eat shrimp and stuff, they turn pink, if you didn't know. But anyway, thank you, everybody who helped this group make a cigarette game. Thank you, thanks so much. And we wanna know what you can do for this different project. And the theory doesn't really give a proper description of wave creation on open sea. It works great for showing how large waves happen in narrow channels. So if you're looking at a narrow channel, a wave makes a way into the channel, they're forcing along in one direction, and those in the rear are pushed forward, and some tend to climb up over others piling up a long way and increasing the wave height. This is repeater station Kilo K7, November Quebec November 10th. That begins to resemble a rogue wave. In wide open spaces the effect doesn't apply. Therefore, modulation and stability breaks down without the defiance of a neural space. So if you have narrow areas or passages where oceans are feeding into gulf things like this, yes, you might get modulation and stability there, but out in the open ocean, no. So on the open sea, new research suggests that rogue waves develop because of constructive interference. When two or more waves line up and they combine, their amplitude and height is increased, like radio waves or standing waves, things like that. These rogue waves form when many smaller waves line up and their speaker crests stack up into a brief massive wave. In the ocean, there's a limit. There's actually a limit to how big a wave can actually grow, and this is due to the tube breaking. Just not big."},{"callsign_confidence":0.98,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-08-01T10:46:04+00:00","id":12611,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":12610,"text":" different port.
