It's usually kind of little empty where I'm at I'm just climbing out of the Tide flats near the Tacoma mall right now, so that is what it is, but anyway, I've been a ham for quite a few years haven't had any radios for a while for a long while and I just decided you know what it's about time I get some radios and I bought a couple one for my truck one for my house I wasn't happy with the one in the house, so I bought another one for the house and this one Yes, you nine nine one alpha so I can do some HF stuff. I haven't played in in that sandbox yet, so Learning all I can about that I am a general working on my extra and Right now. I'm building a ham shack out of a shed that the Live on managed property so I own the house I rent the land So they give everybody a shed and I'm turning that into my little ham shack last weekend I I got a free desk. It was just a free to a good home kind of deal, and it's a rather large desk I had to take the Door off the hinges just to get it into the shed that was that was a little bit of an adventure, but yeah I'm working on it and hopefully here soon I'll be able to talk to you from there So I don't bother the people in the house late at night when they want to sleep, and I'm still wide awake anyway K1m dr. You don't know what a user what a UDP port is he's like no no I don't I like are you IT He's like, yeah, I'm like, that's his basic IT dude. Thank you very much for checking in today. Hey, guess what? 12.14 PM, I'm Jack, KI7, RMU. This is the new net on the PSRG 2-meter repeater here in Seattle, Washington, K1MDR. That is Mike, and here he is. Hi Mike. Well hello everybody. So I got two things today. Got a furball report. About a month ago, a kitten that I had given away had come back to our possession due to a whole mess of different things, and she was very pregnant. Well a couple weeks later she decided to have 10 kittens. That's right folks, 10. We did lose one. Mama actually laid down on top of it and smothered it, which was unfortunate. But we still have nine healthy, cute, adorable, fuzzy little kittens running around, and they are now getting to the point where they can get out and play. They play with each other and they're just having an absolute little blast. So in about another month, we're going to wait until after Halloween, and then we're going to have to find nine kittens a new home. That's going to be a blast. So that's the fun part of my day. The other part of my day is I'm setting up a WiresX node, and I had to fight with Comcast. They are absolutely outstanding people. The guy tells me he's an IT professional, and when I asked about how to change a UDP port, he's like, what's a UDP port? And I am a former IT professional, a current mechanic, but yeah, that's basic IT stuff, and I was getting really frustrated with them. They finally got it to where I could get into that part of their little modem thing, got that situated, and then I couldn't get into WiresX. All the ASU, and they have no record of me, and I have had a WiresX in the past. So apparently the time I spent away from WiresX got me canceled. So, that's my day. This is K1MDR returning to net."},{"callsign_confidence":0.98,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-09-16T12:22:39+00:00","id":39641,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":39640,"text":" Alright, you have a great Tuesday there, Paul. Thank you very much for coming by. It's been a couple of days, I know that, but you are always busy like the rest of us. Anyway, nice to meet you today. Hey, what MDR? Let's pick it up with Mike. Hey Mike, what's going on this afternoon? Good morning, evening, or afternoon, whatever it is for wherever you are. This is killing MDR. Yeah, I don't have much going on today. It's just another day starting work here at Sound Transit, fixing some trains so you all can enjoy riding them. At least if you're in the Puget Sound area here. My critter report is the nine little kittens that I have are doing absolutely wonderful. They are starting to eat regular food. In fact, I had breakfast in bed. My daughter made me a little sausage sandwich. I had a crumb of it sitting on my plate when the kittens were on the bed with me. I ran over, sniffed it, didn't pay much attention to it, came back a minute later, sniffed it again, and gobbled it. Next thing you know, that kitten is climbing up on me trying to get the rest of my sandwich. Apparently this kitten likes sausage. I had to eat the sandwich before I got mugged by nine little kittens that wanted the sandwich. The little guys are doing good. They're learning how to use the litter box. They're doing not perfect, but they're doing pretty good with that one. They're only about a month old, so I'm not going to get mad at them for any of that. They're still learning. They're a lot of fun. And let's see here. Radio Wires, I still haven't heard from Yesu. I'm hoping to hear from them here soon about getting my new WiresX account set up. Last night I was also looking into what I have to do for dealing to work, and I'm totally confused on that one. I'm not quite getting it, so I'll need to read a little bit more up on how to do that. But aside from that, I'm going to be fixing trains here in a few minutes. This is K1 MDR. Alright, well it certainly sounds challenging with nine kittens walking around and raising a sausage and going after your sausage sandwiches and everything. Hey, what do you do on the rowing stock though? That really piques my curiosity. Are you mechanical, electrical? What is your range of duties? Or are you one of those jack of all trades and you do the entire thing maybe? Well, I am a jack of all trades, but unfortunately I can't do that with this job. So with this job, I am an electromechanic is the official title, which means I work on the light rail vehicles themselves. I don't work with the track. I don't work with the overhead. I just work with the little train sets. And I do anything and everything that needs to be fixed, maintained, or repaired. Whether it be just doing a preventative maintenance job like I did last night. I was fixing the doors. Well, I had to fix a couple of them, but mainly just doing the preventative maintenance and making sure everything works the way it's working. The parts that are supposed to be greasy are greasy and the parts that are not are not. You know, that kind of thing. But when something breaks, I get to repair it on just the light rail vehicle itself. So yeah, anything and everything that needs to be done. And though around the house, I'm a jack of all trades, so I never have to call anybody when I need my plumbing fixed or a new light socket put in. I just get out and go get the parts I need and do it myself. My name is K1MDR."},{"callsign_confidence":1.0,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-09-16T21:47:54+00:00","id":39872,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":39871,"text":" All right, comment station, can you come ahead? I think you're headed to Seattle is that right? That is correct I am on my way to work so live in Tacoma work in Seattle It kind of sucks, but at this time of day. It's really not all that bad My About 45 50 minutes to get into work, so it's all good tonight today's a short day for me though I got a I kicked a hornet's nest a few weeks ago and In the model train club I am in and got one guy that Constantly I mean constantly trying to change the laws to suit his little whims and his little needs And it's not doing it for the betterment of the club. He's doing it for the betterment of himself And one of the things that he's doing is Tenured they're not tenured, but take that the job because he was in it for so long and I'm gonna took over this job There's nothing in the rules. He can't go up for election again and take the job away from me You know through the election process, but he timed out on it, and so now I have it and He's been attacking me pretty much constantly ever since and The last time he sent out an email over topics that we already told him we're not even going to address for moving on I went off on him and Yeah, so tonight is the first time we're having a meeting in person census has happened and Yeah, I'm standing my ground. It's not just for me because I'm not going to run for re-election on this position Simply because I my work commitments prevent me from doing the job to this extent. We're beautiful Sunny little fluffy clouds here and there. I don't know the temperature is because I Well, I just don't know I guess that's how it is but it's nice outside so hopefully it stays till tomorrow because I got a bike ride plan for tomorrow and As an update to the mess that I was talking about yesterday Well, we got that all resolved and found out that it was a misunderstanding more than anything else as to why I had been being attacked recently Once we cleared it up the guy that was being aggressive with me came over and said hey Let's put you know, put it all behind us and move forward. I couldn't agree more so everything got fixed everything was going good and Yeah little kittens they're still you know, they're trying to climb legs that's very unpleasant Their little claws are sharp, you know, I've heard the sharpest object known to man is the kittens claws You know what I'm not gonna argue with the man that said that because he was dead right on that one And yeah, that's all I got. I got a little Today's my Friday. I did a little screen capture of our voter system here, and I had you full scale on the Cougar receiver, and probably, oh, 25 is the average on Capitol Park, Beacon Hill, and Magnolia. So yeah, you're doing great business. No anomalies. The tiniest bit of road noise, but your signal and audio were pristine. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. Hey, do you do N gauge or do you do H gauge? Let's get back to the modeling model railroading. Yeah, I am not picky about the gauge. I primarily model N scale, and that's simply because I live in a small house, so I need the small trains. My LUB is actually for HO. Those are literally twice the size, but I just don't have any room for them. And not only that, the N scale side of the train community is a much friendlier sort, so I'm going to just stick with the N scale for now. It's a lot of fun. I do modular layouts all over the Puget Sound. The next one we have coming up is a big show up in Linden, Washington, and that one's going to be up at the fairgrounds in the first weekend of October. I am in another group that does the Christmas show out at the Washington History Museum in Tacoma. I'll be at the Puyallup Fair and a couple other places throughout the year.
