"text": "Hello to my co-host, Ned Controller. G'day, Jack. VK3KK here in the land of the future. Going well, Jack? Yes, I did hear Ken's report on the spear yesterday. I'm glad Ken had a good time. Actually, I've got a question for Ken. I'm not quite sure how many times you've seen the movie, Ken, but did you notice there were certain scenes that were cut out of the movie? I've seen The Wizard of Oz so many times, and there are certain scenes in the movie that were cut out. I've seen it so many times Jack, I know that, I noticed when I did see it over there, bits and pieces were removed, so I'm not quite sure why they did that, but I'm just wondering if Ken noticed that in cell 2. Anyway Jack, what's the report here? I've eaten so much food over the last 2 days Jack, I'm not eating a single thing with today. I'm like a basketball, too much dessert, oh my god, too much food Jack, way too much food. So I haven't had any breakfast at all today. I've got a busy day planned here today. I'm going up to one of our repeater tops today. We've got to spray the compound. All the other services aren't there anymore so it's pretty much us in that hut and no one else anymore so we've got to, it's in our best interest to maintain things there now so we're going to go up there later on today and spray the compound. It's got a lot of weeds, a lot of grass growing around so we need to give that a tidy up and Jack what I'm doing at the moment I'll just take a short break actually hang on this is repeater station kilo kilo 7 November Quebec November back again and yeah Jack my rope broke for my HF wiring antenna about a week and a half ago so I I've got a 12 metre wooden support 12 metres in the old language. Anyway, so it's in the shed here, it needs a bit of a birthday, it needs a bit of a sand and a paint. So yeah Jack, I'm busy here this morning in the shed, I'm going to give this long bit of timber a nice sand and a paint, and I'm going to bolt it back to the fence and get some new rope from my local hardware store later on here today Jack, so lots going on, my holidays have started and I have so much to do. Back to you Jack for BK3KK from the land of the future."

Let's go to Victoria Australia Specifically in Ballarat. It's already Christmas morning He's probably just sitting among a bunch of great gifts. He got himself seven just after 7 a.m. there in Ballarat. Happy Christmas Day, Sean. How are you, sir? BK3KK."

"text": "And thank you, Pam. Yeah, we had a little bit of net control traffic or something climb in behind you, but we got almost all that. KK-7 RDW. And good morning. This is KK-7 RDW. Roger with the sailboat SHOT-C, sitting here on the western edge of Magnolia, where it is, we've got, well, it's, It looks like Christmas Eve out there. It's released for Seattle style. 42 degrees here. The barometer is at 30.39. We've got some, had some, some smizzle. Pam, she invented a new word for us here. It's almost, it's borderline. And I don't think it's quite drizzle. So I'm going to go with smizzle again. At about seven hundredths of an inch since yesterday, noon, all of it since midnight. And the wind is popping around 11 knots here, gusting to 16. And the fun stuff last night, yesterday, was I hopped on my Mini 12 last night and went out to the Christmas ships. They came to Portage Bay and right off of Seattle Yacht Club. Well, no, it wasn't right off Seattle Yacht Club. That was the problem. They went off of the little park at the north end of Portage so I had to get all the way from the aquabuck to the far end of Porty Grays in 0 to 2 knots of breeze, that sort of little tiny thing. But it was a nice turnout and great music and the artists, it brings a lot of Christmas to the Northwest, they really do a fun job with that. with that. I'd say there are probably oh maybe 30 good sized power boats out there and one little sail boat sailing around. But I did have my spot light, 500 amp spot light to shine on the sail so when the big guys got a little close I let them know I was there. That's my report. It was kind of a fun night. This is KK7, RDW. Happy Christmas Eve everybody."

"text": "Good afternoon, Jack, the rest of the net, uh, yeah, the world, everybody that's listening out there. I'm just chilling in this music down behind me. We're on vacation day, as I mentioned earlier on the net, and I got a few of these Mondays I'm doing that, so like next Monday I'm burning another vacation or a week of them. I should have burned them in the nice, uh, sunny time, like, right? But anyways, uh, yeah, and it's always no fun when you gotta pick them beforehand, like, right? I can't just, oh, hey, it's a good day, I'm gonna go on a vacation today. Anyways, I'm here playing with the San Ritsu test unit today. I pulled out of the garage, but actually I'm kind of playing with my, cleaning out the storage unit downstairs in my garage. Cleaning my garage is what I'm trying to do, which means I realized I have a whole disorganized side room of the garage that I should clean that up some. This radio gear up, it's kind of like a nanoVNA, but it's bigger and industrial. I looked one up and this one's and this one's in a better condition than probably that. And I just needed to buy a new battery for it. The funny thing is the battery's like 56 bucks, which is cost as much as a nano-VNA, but this is a kind of industrial gear type thing, so it's like what those are based on, like right? Anyways, I just tested my coax here again, and on the dip, I got a 1.5 SWR, and yeah. See where it was, 146, yeah, probably, That's probably why I have a 2.2 where it says on the meter right now when I'm transmitting 50 watts, so no fun. Yeah, someday it'll stop raining. Hi, hi. You know, I can fix my coax, but probably not. I don't really want to do it in the rain, but maybe I'll do it one of these days in the rain and then say I haven't these days off, but for a hundred I'll replace this old leaky RG8X I bought like five years ago and didn't tape up, which is like you're telling everybody, take your coax, even if you're just pretending like you're gonna do it temporary temporary because you know temporary can seem to last forever sometimes right year 2000 I put this antenna in coax up and it's still being used and well it's destroyed coax now is quite frankly like right it's got water in it I'm sure I know better but you know I can do better jobs but I was like oh it'll just be temporary, right? Yeah, I don't get up on the roof all that often. Anyways, yeah, there's enough ramble out of me. That's what I got going on right now. Maybe I'll make another trip down to the garage and go pull. N-7-U-R-H, over to have a good day."

We have 40 degrees in northeast Ohio, which is kind of warm for this time of year. But I'm not worried about it. It'll get bad soon. I gotta go to Pennsylvania this coming week, I'll be leaving Tuesday, about a four hour drive to my density near Buffalo, New York and Pennsylvania. Chuka, Arizona had to go out to Fort Bragg on temporary duty for like three months. I hooked up with an old friend of mine, he invited me over for Thanksgiving. On Thanksgiving Eve, his stove went kaput. So we had barbecue turkey. He put the turkey on the grill. And no, I really didn't dig it. You know, I was appreciative, because go for what you got. You know, I can hear a lot of my neighbors with the leaf blowers out there blowing those leaves all over and here and there. Some of them even blowing down the driveway over in the neighbor's driveway. Ha, ha. People get annoyed with maple leaves some. You know what? I like the way they look. Provides a lot of color. It's a special time of year. So that's what we're looking like here. I guess there's always a chance for a little snow later on in the year. We've seen it before. You never know. And I hope you guys, winter is mild, you know, nothing severe. It's no fun when the roads are all iced up and so on and so forth. Can't get out and power goes out. Oh my god. So yeah, all right. "text": " Thanks, Joan. And as per your request, you're old-fashioned. Let's see. So something that came up in the last minute or so reminded me of a situation where I and somebody else came by and got assembled in a can and put it up, set up the IRD and were acting as a control. And we had this number on the front. We didn't have instructions. We just had a number. So we were adjusting what we could and the position and trying to get the highest number. And then when I came to work the next day, the engineering supervisor said, Well, you did a good, nice job setting it up, except the number on the front says bit error rate. So you set it up for the maximum bit error rate that you could get before you didn't have a signal. So it really helped to have the instructions. And in fact, I put together an e-band dish in the lead-on pub. And I went back to the supervisor. It wasn't that they put the hub together both sides. They welded the others out of position. And the instruction activities didn't work out. I told the boss, No, that can't be. I checked it out. Yep, gotta ship it back. So there's things that somehow your boss may not believe it's right. Sometimes you're right. And, you know, finding a, when I'm not working that radio, I find a way to put a loop on this thing and not use the center cable here to kind of weld and not express the thing."

It's always good to hear him. I haven't chatted with him on a Q-SOU in a little while. We'll have to do something about that. Yeah, we have a group of hams. They're on the Santa Cruz Island, which is just off the coast of LA. And it's right next to this other island that's right here, which of course, I'm trying to remember, as I forgot. And it's Catalina Island. But there's seven hams out there camping. And I was helping those. I'm one of the contacts when they're over there, because there's no cell phone service. So we have a couple of us that are designated to be available in case something happens. Let's see here. And then my squirrel has been bouncing around the patio and eating up nuts and peanuts and having a grand old time and chasing each other. Well, I haven't seen Rocky in a while. He's my favorite squirrel. But I just haven't seen him. I hope he's OK. And I'm watching the Dodgers play right now. Life is good there. But all in all, it's been a pretty good Monday. So no complaints. So thanks, John. Thanks again, AB 6MB."

"text": " 6.6 Mike Bravo, BK3KK, that was the Trans-Tasman contest, Jeff, the Trans-Tasman contest, that's what we did. There's actually another reason why I've come to Melbourne today, so Melbourne's about an hour and a half's drive from where I normally live, so I left at lunchtime locally here today to come down here, it is an absolute nightmare if you were to come to Melbourne during peak hour traffic, it is an absolute nightmare and that's one thing that I refuse to do because I haven't got any patience, not when it comes to traffic, I don't anyway. So I took an extra day off and I drove down here at lunchtime to go on the roads when it's nice and quiet and yeah, it all went like a breeze, so you've got to leave at the right time when you come to Melbourne now these days, you've just got to leave at the right time and it's always worthwhile. Anyway, but tomorrow morning there's a local net on 160 metres AM and I've been listening to this net for about five years and I listen on one of the local, on one of the local, on the SDR receivers which isn't too far away from where all the guys are. So five years of listening on this net, I'm going to be a part of the net tomorrow morning as albeit Steve's place and he's within a pretty close proximity of all the stations which are on this net and they operate at AM on 160 metres so that's my main purpose for coming down to take part in this net for an hour tomorrow. But it's always been on my bucket list what to do and we're finally going to get there. AP6MB, ZK3KK, back to you. Oh okay, that's great you're going to do that. Yeah, that sounds like a lot of fun. You know, after you listen to that one amount of time and actually be able to get on and partake of it, that's got to be a bit of a thrill and yeah, that just sounds great and yeah, I just really don't know of anybody personally that does 160. I'm sure they're out there but I actually have not known anybody that has and I'm kind of interested on these guys' antennas. These are pretty much short and quarter wave antennas. These two stations that you're going to be doing, that you do 160 on and then this other one, back to you. AP6MB, ZK3KK, back to you."
