Oh, I'm running a new net, darn it, I'm on the wrong script. Let's change over here. Good afternoon, this is Kirk Alpha Golf 7 Yankee Mike and this is the new net on the WW7 PSR 2 meter repeater operated by the Pew's Shadow Repeater Group here in Seattle, Washington. It is July 21st, 2025. This is the Monday Net Studio out there listening to see if any of you would like to let us know what's happening with you. If you'd like to give an I.O. or a report of up to three minutes, all I need is your call, sign and name. I'm doing one big round to get bid today and clearing the deck, so come ahead now with your call, sign and name please. Whiskey Alpha 7 Alpha Delta, Michael. Whiskey 7 Oscar Hotel, Dan. November 7, Yankee Delta, Mark I O. We handle one at a time. I got WA7AD, Michael, not Mikey here, Michael. And then I got W708, Dan, you're on the list. You know, it's interesting you mentioned that. It has been a while. I don't remember when I started. I think it was pre-COVID times I started doing nets. And so it's been a while. It's a lot of fun. And like I say, I enjoy it so much. I made my own program to manage it. How's that? I just love watching my program do its thing. Every once in a while it goes a little squirrely, causes me trouble, but most of the time it's well behaved. And I'm sorry I woke you up if I actually did wake you up. Ha ha ha. The radio must have been on and we roused you up when the net started, cause it can be quiet. I called, I was having a tea party. The wife was having a tea party and I was a member. And I was showing off amateur radio to some guests. And it was in the afternoon sometime, maybe like three or four. And I made a call, but I told her, so they might not answer you. Mostly everyone's around for nets. But fortunately Jack was listening and he said hello. And so everyone got to see amateur radio in action. We use our cell phones and think of them, this communication device, but to be able to handle it on a more, I don't know how to say it, rudimentary level with the radio, I just think it's wonderful. It's great to show off. There are other ways to communicate. And the English, low-flowing stress, I have never seen my English rolls show stress, but everything else, we got these hydrangeas. Boy, those guys wilt when it heats up. They don't like the heat. And I was just reading, they say that if it's the hot summer days, you just water in the morning, so the water can absorb down in the ground and be ready for the plants when they need it in the stressful afternoon. But I'll admit I pour a little water in the afternoon too. But it's true, it does evaporate. I used to be on HF and there was like the YL net and the OMS net and there was a noon, well they didn't call it noon net, what did they call it? Something like that, at any rate, yes. And I suppose if you use the internet it would make all that even easier because you have the reception for me comes and goes on those HF nets. I thought it would be no problem when they replaced my roof and oh man I was going bonkers. I was so happy when they were done but wow. And you should have seen all the goop that came off my roof. My roof had turned into mud. The old materials were just garbage. And be careful for nails. I found a lot of nails around after I did my roof. I said I wish I had like a magnet you know and you could clear the ground but there were a lot of nails so even if you're not barefoot a nail can get you so do be careful there. But yes, it sounds good you had the summer swap meets. Yeah I like to go too. You never know what you might pick up on those things. I've gotten mostly Morse code keys at those events. He says inside you see one of the capacitors has cracked or burst. So I don't know. At some point I might get up the gumption to take a look at this radio. I've seen people fix computers with just a volt meter and a logic probe. You don't even need an oscilloscope half the time. So maybe I'll do just that. I'll look at that capacitor. Look if I can get a replacement. Look at how hard it would be to fix it. I have no idea what's inside there. I've worked with tubes before. When I was a kid in high school I did the electronics class and it was all tubes. We built all sorts of tube type radios. So it would be fun to take a look in there and see what's happening. I looked on the internet and there's no schematics, no pictures, no nothing of this radio. It's quite a mystery. So nice job, Bill. All right, well we're looking forward to the photos. That is going to be really something else. It's great because you know you get a chance to really put your heart and soul into it and design and think really hard about it and where does power go, how much power do I need, where are the outlets, where is the satellite dish, whatever I'm using, whatever I'm going to put in here. Oh, it's just so much fun. Well, congratulations, that's great. And I'm glad your wife said, this looks painful. Yeah, okay, that's the go ahead right there. That's great. The wife had a second single shot, a little under the weather, so we're not doing anything right about now. Yesterday was pickleball day. Everyone says I was doing well, but I lost every game, so I don't know what to think about that. And you know, that's interesting. Brooks said he had a popcorn ceiling in his office. I sure hope it didn't have any asbestos in there. They say you've got to test that every time you want to remove it, to be sure. It would be interesting to know. I sure hope he did. And yeah, that revamp's really nice. I need to take a new picture of my station and put it up on my QRC. I have a nice little shelf I built now, and it would be nice to show that. Update all my program pictures. They're all obsolete. They've really, really changed my program. So you guys are making me think I need to update my QRC. That's it from me. Back to you, Jack. Oh my gosh, it was a pretty amazing play. And so my mind completely went off it. I would have got to the net a few minutes late even if I hadn't been prompted by Jack because my phone did go off right when I was going on in the net. But yeah, you've got to set your alarm earlier. I thought my alarm would go, you know, give me a warning ten minutes before. I thought I had that setting, but I guess not. Maybe it was on my last phone. One of these days I want to go back to the Pocahontas Park, right where the Snake River meets a different river. I forget which one it is offhand. I think that's in Idaho. Oh my gosh, but any rate, it sounds like all's well that ends well. And do enjoy the air show, I like air shows, I've gone to a few in my time. I was just by the McMinnville, oh what is that, Air Museum, I didn't stop in this time but I've been in before and I just love that one. I do want to go back, maybe next time I'm over that way I'll just pop in there, make sure I have time for it. It's really wonderful, they have a good space exhibit there as well. They have a Mercury Redstone capsule if that's what it is I believe. Really awesome to see just how tiny that was. I don't know how they find guys brave enough to get into that tin can and blast off on rockets which have habits of exploding, it's just like oh my goodness. I came back because Dean came back mentioning, what is it, Highway 17 and I've never lived in the area but in the way way back in the early days of the interweb there was a webpage that I used to love, frequenting and that was the Highway 17 page of shame and I was wondering if that's a page that you ever knew of or Dean ever knew of and it was these two guys that would commute every day on Highway 17 and they would post photographs of people who drove in shameful ways but they blocked out the license plate numbers and faces and stuff like that and it was some really good photos and commentary and I know that other folks have done similar now, there's two guys in Seattle that commute every day and they post videos of shameful driving on I-5 and they've done interviews with the highway patrol and what not and it's a heck of a thing to watch but it just made me think of that page way back when."},{"callsign_confidence":0.94,"confidence":null,"created_at":"2025-08-17T22:46:42+00:00","id":18383,"node_number":"oldsys","recording_id":18382,"text":" Good evening Brian and everybody on the net. I mean there were some things that were really interesting. But I was prepared if something really cool popped up. Whether it be like a radio that's really cheap. There were a lot of people who sell vinyl records there. But there wasn't anything that really stood out. I think a lot of people who sell records at these things, they kind of know what the going rate is for certain albums. So you don't always find that really great deal. But anyway I was still on the lookout for it. But there were a bunch of people we know there like Jack was there. Oh, I probably shouldn't mention names. I'll just help forget somebody. So Rich K3OE, Bob KF7 SPA, he was there. Kirk, Alpha Golf 7 Yankee Mike. And oh, Mac, I don't know her call sign. I didn't actually get a chance to talk to her. But I saw her. She seemed to be really enjoying. There was this talk where they were talking about, in one of the classrooms they were talking about basically ancient calculators that were like basically the size of a, they were huge going back to the early 60s. But anyway it was a lot of fun. And I was still back in my brains just making sure I didn't forget anybody. You have to like He-Man, Hulk, rip the phones off. But when you do, it turns out that it's this tacky glue-like material that holds them on. And you just pull that off, and they unsnap. There's these like snaps. It's like there's a ring that the headphone sits on. You just pull them off that ring, put the new ones on the ring, and snap it back in place, and boom, headphones fixed. So I think I'm going to buy another couple pairs just to prepare myself for the future. And then I got another headphone set for my ... I've got a headphone for my cell phone. So I don't know if that's going to be successful, because they don't give you the actual diagram of what the measurements are on those replacement headphones. They should. That would make life super awesome. But oh well. So that's the main thing going on here.
